The Republc of South Korea and her wayword counsin: The People's Republic of North Korea always had a mutal loathing for each other. Even though recent attempts of diplomacy and new relations the DMZ Zone never fully left either parties minds; so, throughout the year South Korean and North Korean ships often took running skirmishes with each other for a tit-for-tat type of war style. These ships were never more than escort destroyers, and usually in never big number. Yet, these clashes often induced casualties, and was a constant thorn in the side of diplomats, and a cap in their hat for generals. So on and on this little un-sung battle continued, largly ignoring the nautical line seperating the two sides; these military craft fought wherever the battle took them and very few nations really understood the dynamics of this pro-longed nautical caimpaign.

Steaming at full sir!

Thank you ensign, how far until we reach firing range?

No more than 2 minutes sir; even though we arn't as fast as regular destroyers we can really pick up the tempo when we need it.

Good, tell everyman to get on deck as of an hour ago, and make them run, we arn't playing boy scout with squirt guns.

Yes commander.

Ensign Lee Choe sounded general quarters and within a few minutes all hands were up on the bridge manning their small light machine guns and cannons as they prepared to skirmish with the other escort destroyer and try to induce as many causualties as they could, or board the ship and have another feather in their collective caps. Sinking was out of the question, the light armaments made sure that only moderate damage could be inflicted.

Aboard the Chinese Mao-Class Destroyer SWS Tibet, 150 Miles East of the Manchurian Coast
Midshipman Gru-in Dong looked at his radar, as two blips showed up about 20 clicks away. "Captian, I am getting readings of some odd activity in the area, it looks as though there are two ships in our vicinity, and they are not using a Sino frequency, I think that we ought to go check them out, you know, so we can make sure that they are friendly."

"Midshipman, I think that you are correct, we shall foolow the rules of engagement, proceed with caution. Turn the ship forty degrees north north west, and full steam ahead!" This would be interesting Captian River Tan thought.

Daewi Pak Seong-jun looked at the radar and spotted two vessels. He radioed his accompanying destroy and confirmed the two surface sightings. Sonar indicated that no submerged vessel was within the vicinity, and it was likely that these two vessels were hostile. Pak would remain submerged unless his surface counterpart required his aid, but until then, he radioed back to command to confirm two hostile vessels approaching. After that call, he yelled out: "Battle Stations!"

A monotonous cry erupted and the submarine lit with activity. Sailors ran into position, and the torpedo rooms reported their status as the submarine mobilized. Pak was pleased - only 2 minutes and 32 seconds, a improvement of over 15 seconds from the last call And this time, the call was for real.

"Today, we meet hostile forces that seek to challenge us. The People's Army has great pride that the Fleets of Korea shall prevail, and this shall be another day when we send away our enemies! Korea watches over you; do not make her ashamed!"

Cheers resounded and Pak felt content to leave the men at their stations, as he awaited word from his surface counterpart. They would all wait until the enemy drew first blood, and retaliate with full fury.

The escort destroyer made it's proper course adjustment and as the men scurried about the captain, Paul Lim, watched the reports being centralized and outputed to him from his station on the bridge. As he watched he also heard the sonar operator start chattering away. He zoned him out. As it become more clear that it was indeed a submarine he ordered the proper measures and as they approached the sub' depth chargers were sent out with no real attempt yet to sink the ship; just to pull it to the surface.

(ooc: there's a submarine and a surface vessel...)

IC: Pak could feel depth charges, and knew that the attack had already begun. He wondered what had happened to the surface vessel, but nonetheless had his crew prepare torpedos. The depth charges were too high to give any impact, but for certain, they would lower down to his level once they realized how deep his kept his vessel. They would reach his level and either sink or surface his vessel. Torpedos would do - but he still wondered what happened to his surface contact.

OOC: Umm... I can explain, or I can't. Sorry, I was under the impression there was just a submarine, don't ask why though, I don't even know. I will be pretty inactive during the week, and will be until next summer break, so sorry about my late replys.

IC:

As the depth charges went overboard the escort destroyer left itself open to the North Korean surface vessel, so after dropping a handful of depth charges without to much enthusiaism they quickly fired off a couple shots at the Nortk Korean vessel and then tries to get their speed back up to top speed, as the ship slowed down to unleash its almost mocking deliverance of explosives to the submarine.

The submarine began to surface, and Pak had his crew ready to fire a submarine. His surface counterpart had confirmed that fighting had begun, but the transcript was too short, and he couldn't really decide if the fighting was serious yet. An explosion rang as the communication went dead. Thus, he had orders to fire when ready. They would be ready soon, and Pak certainly hoped that whatever target was up would be the target that makes the difference.

Two torpedos loaded, and the submarine broke the surface - only slightly, but enough that any vessel within a reasonable distance could see the break. Pak knew his vessel was now a target, and he quickly sought out the target. The destroyer was head-on, and certainly he could not miss.

"쏘다!"

Seeing the wakes of the two topedoes the destroyer captain got to the wheel and tried to turn the little destroyer into the torpedoes; hopefully missing his beloved craft. As the wakes got closer and closer it was clear that the escort destroyer would at least not sink this hour as the wakes passed on by the length of the destroyer.

Still getting their collective breath the destroyer's minimal arsenal was brought to bear on the opposing destroyer, and the low calibar guns started to wail away at the less supported objects, that either made a good fire when they were shot at or were easy to knock down. Thy really didn't aim at the the superstructure and some sailors yelled that they were hitting some scurring North Korean uniformed men.

The torpedo missed...

Pak ordered a turn and a quick recovery. In the meantime, his surface counterpart was being attack viciously, and they were suffering much damage. Of course, the ship was still operable but if the enemy decided to scuttle the vessel, they would likely be able to do so with little problem. Pak had to sink this vessel. As the ship turned its attention to the frigate, Pak turned his submarine around to fire another round, on the broadside of the port. He had two torpedos at the ready and was at the command to fire...

As another torpedo speed towards the frigate. Having stopped to deal full damage to the North Korean vessel, it was obviously to late to try and dodge out of the way. Coming in and hitting mid-aft the destroyer rumbled with the blast of the torpedoe and the ship lurched to a 45 degree angle. As the men jumped over-board the main guns continued to hammer away at the Nort Korean vessel.

Pak had his radio confirm the strike, and ordered general manuevers to capture as many of the enemy as possible. Little did he realize that the enemy ship was firing its weapons, in an act of desperation. It was too late, as about 15 of his personal crew had been either diced by the bullets or blown. He refused to risk any more of his men's lives to rescue any of these ruthless combatants. He ordered a descent and avoided the entire conflict.

His side of the story was nearly flawless. However, hearing news from the surface, he couldn't say that all was well. His surface counterpart was extensively damaged and wouldn't be able to return to port. Most of its armaments were damaged beyond use, so even if the ship was able to return to port, it was practically useless. There was an option to abandon the ship, but Pak wouldn't accept it. He took his submarine and began to use it as a tug boat. Little did he realize that he was slowing his vessel, allowing the ROK fleet to catch up before the ships reached DPRK waters. While he failed to realize this, he did order for some aerial support to airlift as many sailors off the defunct ship. In a matter of hours, the scene in the Korea Bay would become an intensely hostile setting.

(ooc: what's happened to E2015?)

Died in a shallow grave, little activity, and a small member base has killed this RP. We wiil start it up again some other time but honestly now is the wrong time to be looking for new members as even the most entrenched RP world's are having time commitment problems.

So, how-about declaring this dead until summer break, and checking out Earth V or AMW.
