OOC: This thread serves as a 5 year exploration of the Beta Quadrant. I expect to meet new civilizations and have some battles. I don't want the Enterprise destroyed, but should you want to destroy one of my ships, I can have other ships in my fleet get destroyed.

Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise.
Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life
and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

IC: Primus Shipyards, in orbit of Primus III

http://www.schunter.etc.tu-bs.de/~grehm/star/images/star_trek_-_3d_-_uss_enterprise_ncc_1701_in_spacedock.jpg

The shuttle craft had left Starfleet HQ on Primus III only 20 minutes earlier. Kirk sat silently in his seat reading briefing documents for his 5 year mission on which he was about to embark. He was engrossed in the material when Scotty nudged him on the shoulder.

"There she his," he said in his distinct Scottish accent.

Kirk looked up from the documents and looked out the shuttle Galileo's large forward portal. Outside, he saw his new command. The ISS Enterprise, NCC-22. The 20 year old Constitution class cruiser had seen lots of service, but she looked like a new ship on the outside. She had just undergone an 18 month refit after Captain Pike had completed his final 5 year mission in command of the vessel.

Kirk looked in awe at the brand new deflector dish, warp nacelles, and new torpedo bays. He had seen many Constitution class vessels, but the Enterprise would be the first to undergo this refit. All of her sisters were scheduled to have similar refits in the new future. Sulu maneuvered the Galileo around the large orbiting facility so Kirk could get a good view of his new command. He then maneuvered and slowed the craft as he approached the aft shuttlebay. The Galileo landed and came to a halt. As soon as the hatch swung open, a yeoman sounded Attention.

Kirk stepped out of the shuttlecraft. He was glad to see a familiar face. "Spock! I didn't know you were going to be assigned as my first officer."

"It appears that Commander Decker is needed elsewhere," reported Spock showing no emotion in seeing his friend again.

"Aren't you glad to see me?" asked Kirk.

"I'm sorry Jim, but emotion is illogical," responded Spock.

Kirk knew he would get that response and chuckled to himself in proving himself right that even though Spock was half human, he still was a pure blood Vulcan at heart.

"How was your trip Jim?" asked Spock as he changed the subject.

"I can't complain," responded Kirk. "I think Sulu will prove to be a talented helmsman. He did an excellent job with the shuttle. Have you met Scotty?"

"I can't say that I have," responded Spock.

"He claims that he is able to fix just about anything," responded Kirk. "We shall see about that. You already know Dr. McCoy.

"How could I forget?" asked Spock as he remembered the hundreds of arguments the 2 had had at the Academy and at various posts where they had served together. "Would you like to tour the ship Jim?"

"I think I'll be fine Spock," replied Kirk. He then walked towards the turbolift. "Bridge!" he said. The turbolift then took him sideways and then up the neck of the ship into the saucer where it once again moved him sideways and then up to Deck 1, the bridge.

"Keptain on the bridge!" yelled a young Tactical Officer.

"At ease," said Kirk. "And you are?"

"I am Tactical Officer Pavel Checkov," responded the Russian. "I am running a test on the veapon stations of this wessel." sorry, I had to do that:D

"As you were Lieutenant," said Kirk. He walked around the bridge. It was much different from when he saw this ship 7 years ago before Pike left on his 2nd 5 year mission aboard this vessel. The bridge seemed larger and more open. It even had a high-backed chair worthy of being called a Captain's chair. Kirk decided to sit in it and try it out. He saw the comm buttons on the armrest. "Kirk to Scotty," he said into the comm unit.

"Scotty here!" responded the Scotsman.

"How long until we are cleared to leave?"

"We have all crew aboard," responded the Scotsman. "We are loading done loading most provisions. We just need our load of photon torpedoes and some extra rations. I also need a wee bit more time testing the warp core. We should be able to leave in 48 hours."

"Very well, Kirk out."

on the bridge of the Kirisuban exploration ship 'Fujisan' Captain Amiko Miromuta sat on her command chair looking over the various pads that the science officer had given her.

the most interesting find seemed to be a very large comet and a course was set for this. the only problem was that it was close to the IDF border but Captain Miromuta knew they could study it while the cloaking device was activated if need be.

the Fujisan gracefully flew on toward their new destination.

Primus Shipyards

Kirk and his crew were ready and on the bridge. It had taken 48 hours longer than Scottie had estimated, but the Enterprise was ready for departure.

Kirk looked at his crew on the bridge before giving the orders. All of his senior officers with the exception of Scotty were on the bridge. Scotty had to be in Engineering for departure. "Crew, man departure stations," ordered Kirk as he smiled with anticipation for the the beginning of the journey.

Many docking clamps from the Shipyard's orbiting structure detached from the starship. "All moorings clear," reported Sulu from the helm. "We are cleared to proceed."

"Aft thrusters Mr. Sulu," said Kirk as he stood up from his Captain's chair. "Ahead 1/4 impulse power."

Sulu acknowledged the command and adjusted the helm controls. For the first time in almost 2 years, the ISS Enterprise moved under her own power. She slowly cleared the latticework structure which had held her for 18 long months of overhaul.

Once cleared, she accelerated to 1/2 impulse as she passed the orbital defenses around Primus III. This was the starship's first voyage in quite some time so at Scotty's suggestion, Kirk let the engines run on impulse for a while. After 30 minutes of running at 1/2 impulse, Scotty told Kirk that he was cleared for full impulse. Now the Enterprise was traveling at .25c. Kirk was eagerly awaiting the time when she would accelerate to warp speed. Scotty had advised against that at the current time as he still wanted to get both warp engines balanced.

This went on for 3 hours. "How long until I can bring her to warp Scotty?" asked Kirk through the intercom.

"I'm almost done sir," reported the Engineer. "I can have you ready in 5 minutes."

Kirk anxiously awaited for the all clear. He finaly got it. While the Enterprise had the ability to instantly go to warp, it was not recommended at this time. Instead, she would use her impulse engines to begin propulsion and slowly use her warp engines to accelerate at sublight speeds to warp 1. At that point she would then run her warp engines at increasing speeds until she topped out.

"Mr. Sulu, begin acceleration to warp 1," ordered Kirk.

The Enterprise's warp engines began to come online. "Warp .3," Sulu called out as the ship increased her speed by 20%. ".4, .5." There was a pause. ".6, .7, .8" Sulu's voice got louder. The whole crew was now anticipating the moment. ".9." The ship seemed to jump. "WARP 1!!!"
http://www.starshiplexington.com/final_lexington_site/images/ncc1709r/Entering_Warp.jpg

The cruiser continued at warp 1. Sulu was then cleared to bring her up to full speed. "Warp 2, warp 3, warp 4, warp 5, warp 6! warp 7!, warp 8!, warp 9!, warp 9.2!" The cruiser had finally topped out her top speed, warp 9.2. Kirk ordered Sulu to maintain the heading and take the ship into the Beta quadrant. The Enterprise had just passed her first major test.

"Jim, we have a new ship entering our sector," reported Spock from his science station.

"Scan him Spock," ordered Kirk.

"Scanning... It appears to be a previously unencountered class of warships. They have shields raised and weapons armed," reported Spock.

"Checkov, go to Red Alert!" ordered Kirk. "Shields up!" With that order, the white lights on the ship were switched off and replaced with the dimmer red lights of battle. The crew ran to battlestations and bulkheads were shut. Photon torpedo bays were loaded and phaser banks were charged.

"Uhura, try to hail that ship," ordered Kirk. "They may not be hostile.

Uhura acknowledged the order and began hailing the vessel. "Unknown vessel, this is the starship Enterprise, do you read?" She repeated her message and tried to raise the ship. Hopefully they would acknowledge the message.

Kirk wanted to stay on the safe side. "Mr. Sulu, punch up some commands just in case we need to run or make evasive maneuvers."

A tiny ship popped out of FTL in the general area. It was a small, battered fighter craft. It seemed rather unarmed except for a 30mm cannon on the nose and an empty rocket pod under one of the wings.

Its engine puttered the out-dated fighter along, and it blithly began to steer towards the big, shiney Enterprise.

Many, many parsecs away, deep into the unexplored, unclaimed areas of the so-called 'Beta Quadrant' of the galaxy, was a fairly routine star system. A massive red giant star, in the final years of its life, drifted through the endless expanse of the galaxy. It was accompanied by a single planet, an enormous blue gas giant. Its turbulent atmosphere of methane and helium precluded the possibility of life, with wind speeds of more than 3,000km/h making certain of it. The other planets in the system had long since been engulfed by the dying star, and whether or not anybody had ever lived here was purely academic. Aside from an asteroid belt that hovered dangerously close to the star, there was nothing else of note here.

Except for an unusual object that was in orbit around the gas giant. It was sucking blue material from the outer atmosphere of the planet with some kind of invisible tractor beam, which made it look like some kind of funnel-shaped tornado was following the object as it orbited around the blue world. It was in no hurry, that much was certain, as whatever means of propulsion the object possessed was not presently active.

The object wasn't particularly large, and although it didn't seem to have a bow or a stern its longest diameter was about six hundred metres across. Any such determination would be subject to scrutiny, however, as the craft seemed very modular in design and frequently shifted its configuration, almost giving the appearance that it was alive. It did not seem to have any aesthetic qualities whatsoever, even lacking a coat of paint, and didn't look as though it had been 'designed' at all but instead 'cobbled together'. It had no discernible shape, belied any sort of definitive description regarding its appearance, and didn't even seem to have any exhaust-based propulsion system, so it could probably travel in any direction it chose to. All of which made it very hard to give it a name.

Its innards were even stranger. There were no lifesigns, no apparent crew quarters, engineering or command sections, and it wasn't troubling itself to maintain an atmosphere. Despite this, there were small passageways within the craft as though it were capable of holding a crew. A particularly large amount of its internal space was devoted to a sizable computer core, which did not appear to have any sort of interface or controls.

What it was doing with all the material it sucked up from the gas giant below was anyone's guess, but it didn't seem to be planning on going anywhere any time soon. It simply orbited the planet, just waiting to be discovered in the future.

the reforcements exot transwaro 5 sephiroth class mislile frigats 12 kuja strike frigates form up near the justice

"Spock, what's the status on that ship?" asked Kirk.

"It appears that some other ships are forming up on her," reported Spock.

"Sulu! Get us out of here!" ordered Kirk. "Best speed Sulu!" With that order, the Enterprise once again accelerated to her maximum speed. There was no way that the ships would catch her now.

"Uhura, get Starfleet Command and inform them of what we saw," ordered Kirk. "Tell them we aren't 100% sure whether or not they are hostile, but we still think that they should check this out just in case."

"Checkov, go to yellow alert," ordered Kirk.

About 5 minutes passed. Then Kirk heard the swish sound of an opening turbolift. He didn't even have to look around to know who it was. "Hi Bones," Kirk said.

"Can you tell me what the hell that was all about?" asked the southern Doctor.

"Just playing it safe," said Kirk. "there were many possible hostiles forming up and the smart thing to do was get out of there."

"You ran Jim?" asked McCoy with a hint of laughter.

"Yes Bones, it was the logical thing to do," responded Kirk with the intent of annoying Bones.

"Great, now what do I have to deal with?" asked Bones. "Two Vulcans on this bridge? I just had gotten used to handling Spock. You better not go Vulcan on my Jim."

"Captain sama, its a Sephrioth fleet after an IDF ship" the tactical officer reports.

Sensors flared on all ships as several 'tunnels' opened, spitting out a few ships of unknown design. It became apparent almost immediately that a fight was dragged here when the three trailing vessels began exchanging fire with the remaining two, who were running in the lead.

~Aboard the Red Star~

The jump was successful, but as consoles started to spark again it became clear that they were followed. Rechank the Red braced in his seat and began barking orders. His vessel shunted more emergency power into the shields, weapons, and engines, he had to outfight them until he could jump again.

The Red Star began spewing atmosphere like a skywriter after a torpedo slammed into the port side, burning off a chunk of the inner hull. Laser bolts pulsed between the two sides, dissipating on shields and denting armor.

~Aboard the Seraphim~

"Pirates, they think they can escape what the Fates' decree."

Captain Pala'din intoned as he watched the pursue from the flagship. One of the bridge officers called out.

"Sir! Multiple contacts on scanners. Unknown design."

Pala'din turned to face the officer.

"Give me readings, Mister Dulmare, I won't fall into a pirate trap today."

The Sephrioth ship fired its phasers at theEnterprise as she continued at maximum warp. "Fire aft phasers Checkov!" yelled Kirk. "Sulu, evasive actions! Spock, what did those phasers do to us?"

While Checkov and Sulu carried out their orders, Spock evaluated the damage. "Our aft shields are at 95% after that hit."

"Scotty, put all auxiliary power on the aft shields!" ordered Kirk. With that order, another burst struck the Constitution class cruiser's shields. The bridge shook as a few sparks flew out of an overloaded ODN circuit from the Environmental Control Station. "Uhura! put out a distress call to any ships you can raise!"

"Aye sir," responded Uhura. "This is the starship Enterprise. We have encountered hostile forces about one parsec away from the Bajor system and DS9. We need any asistance that can be rendered." Uhura ended the distress call. "Sir, I got many ships hopefully heading our way including some Starfleet vessels.

Paused somewhere along the line between the Enterprise and the destination of its transmission sat a lone Ambassadore class (http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b91/SeaQuest_Sim/Schematics/SeaQuestian%20Commonwealth/Ships/vtransport.jpg) light cruiser. Having stopped in the middle of nowhere for a break before resuming her journey to her destination, the 131 meter long ship picked up the distress signal of the IDF vessel. The decision to respond was made out of a desire to have a change of pace. Thus, the ship transitted out of Real Space and darted off on an intercept course.

OOC: Will arrive in next post.
The Xeno
05-09-2006, 03:51
Near Space

The Xeno were still secluded in their own small part of space. However now, there was simply too much activity to sit back and watch. A seemingly peaceful ship was being chased from one end of the Xeno's galaxy to the next and it would be time to put a stop to it.

The warp system was linear, much like traveling down a highway. In the lead was Enterprise and behind it appearently came a small fleet of aggressors.

The Xenos would reply in kind. As the Enterprise passed through, the Xeno lept into the path of the chasing Seprioth. Of course, while moving at warp speed, sensors don't tend to work very well. And so, when the Xeno warships opened their bellies and spat out a stream of carbon-based objects, it was very unlikely that Seprioth's ships would even notice.

These objects were naturally, mines. Huge ten-ton bundles of a synthetic explosive produced only by the Xeno. They were capable of breaking the spine of an enemy warship.

The Xeno then lept forward further along the path that the Enterprise was traveling to lay yet another ambush. Seprioth - if they even survived the mines - would have to worry about what lay before them next.

The Enterprise streaked across space. "Sir, it appears that those Xeno ships are dropping mines," reported Spock from his science station.

"Do we have any mines aboard Checkov?" asked Kirk.

"Not at the moment Keptain," responded the Russian.

"Scotty, how many anti-matter storage pods do we have aboard?" asked Kirk.

"We got a full load of 150 Sir," responded Scotty. "But, we cannae expect to make it to the Beta Quadrant without any less than that Sir."

"I know that Mr. Scott," responded Kirk. "But we can move to Deep Space 9 to get more. Mr. Scott, on my mark start ejecting those anti-matter pods."

"Aye sir," responded Scott. "That should do considerable damage to those ships if not destroy them." Montgomery Scott began ejecting the pods one at a time. His plan was to drp 140 of the 150 pods and use them as heavy mines. There was no deadlier explosive in the world than anti-matter. There was also no deadlier reaction than the one created when the anti-matter pods would strike the enemy ships.

The Enterprise was continuing to get struck though. Aft shields were now down to 60% and falling with each hit. The Enterprise herself was still returning fire though. Kirk wanted to turn around so he could use his torpedoes and spread the hits to other shield sections, but he needed to keep going straight to lead the enemy ships into the anti-matter pods.

Deep Space Nine

The ISS Defiant had just completed one mission, She had rescued a convoy from pirates. Captain Benjamin Sisko had had one long day. He and his crew had killed 5 Miranda class destroyers with absolutely no damage to his own ship. His ablative armor hadn't even been used. He was not in the mood to go on another mission as he had had his fill of combat for the day and had uncovered what seemed to be a deep dark secret about his Federation.

"Sir, we have a distress call coming in!" reported Nog.

"Put it through," ordered Sisko. The distress call was then heard over the bridge speakers. "That's Kirks ship," he remarked. "Chief, beam the prisoners to Odo's holding cells. He is expecting them and already has his instructions. The station's tractors will get that damaged fighter we have tractored into a repari bay. Also beam that wounded pilot to the infirmary."

With that business done, the Defiant was now ready to move. "Nog, what other starfleet ships are moving in to help?"

"Sir, we have 2 Constitution class vessels, ISS Endeavour NCC-27 and ISS Exeter NCC-30. The Ambassador class vessels ISS Wickes NCC-77 and ISS Zhukov NCC-76. We have 6 other Miranda class destroyers and 2 Excelsior class vessels all heading at best speed towards the Enterprise."

"Thank you Ensign," responded Sisko. "I want you to coordinate with them."

"Worf! activate cloaking device!" ordered Sisko. "Red alert! Shields up!" The Defiant was now only .2 parsecs away from the battle. The 6 Mirandas coming into help were ISS Lantree NCC-51, ISS Emissary NCC-48, ISS Lehman NCC-122, ISS Anchorage NCC-7, ISS King NCC-104, and ISS Cutter NCC-95. The 2 incoming Excelsiors were ISS Cairo NCC-41 and ISS Potemkin NCC-39.

All 13 Federation vessels were now moving in at maximum warp velocity to help their endangered friend.

The Ambassadore made slight course corrections as she followed the chase. Until the ships dropped to sublight, the SeaQuestian vessel couldn't revert back to Real Space to interact with them. Still, periodic hops into Real Space were made to check visually on the progress and compare it to the original sensor readings.

On one such 'hop', far enough ahead of the chase that it would take some time for it to pass by, the arrival of the Xeno ships was noted and a text message was sent to them:

Long time, no see, as the old saying goes. Hopefully, after all this time between interactions of our two nations, our prior agreements still hold true.

Another text message was sent to the Enterprise:

IDF vessel, we picked up your distress signal. Unfortunately, our FTL technology is of a nature that won't allow our ships to interact at FTL velocities. Are there any co-ordinates where my ship can join yours to make a sublight stand against the warmongering tactics of the Sephrioth vessels?

From his place at the center of the shuttle Prometheus, Falsus of Borg watched the battle commence. The IDF was at it again, sticking their nose in places where it might come back bloodied. The saying, the Liberated Borg noted, was, "you live and learn." But you don't learn unless you live.

Now, they had aroused the ire the Sephrions. The Sephrions were xenophobic at the best of times--with good reason (they were right in the middle of a dispute among several clans of space pirates) and this bunch had been busy munching on pirate behind when the IDF ship had made its unfortunate appearance. Now, they were making the mistake of trying to drop mines and hit the Sephrion while they could. This would be tantamount to inviting a full-scale armada into IDF space. Of course, the involvement of the Fujisan and a host of subspace purturbations boded even less well for the situation. They were all treating the Sephrions as if they were a single force with no back-up. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Falsus had managed to stay under the Sephrions' sensor beams while working as a diplomatic courier and a pirate hunter. If they knew of him at all, they would know him as the enemy of their enemies. The IDF did, however, know of him--Prometheus was registered with them as an armed cargo transport.

Neither the Sephrions nor the IDF knew it, but they had bigger fish to fry. If they became involved in a war now, neither would have any chance to speak of when the Changelings, or the Borg, or any of a half dozen other regressive empires that Falsus could name, came calling. And that would be a dire shame. Falsus appreciated the high ideals of the IDF and the perserverance of the Sephrions. They didn't know it, but they could form quite a formidible alliance if someone could just talk some sense into them.

"Daddy," a small voice said from nearby. "What are ships do-ing in this part of space?" It was a small drone that spoke. About the size of a large housecat, Esmirelda the Exopod was his constant companion and greatest pain. To create her, Falsus had started with an IDF intelligent engineering drone, the Exocomp, and given it a major upgrade. Now a true species, if a cyborg species, Exopods were used to provide the kind of co-species in space that humanoids had evolved with on their home planets. There weren't many of them. When she wasn't busy saving his life, Emmy spent her time annoying Falsus into petting her.

"Picking needless fights," Falsus replied.

"Fight-ing not good," Emmy said. "Can we make peace?"

"I don't know, Emmy, but we're going to try. Someone has to." The fact that Falsus and his ship would probably not make it back didn't weigh that heavily on the Liberated Borg. He had led an unspectacular life. If he died, he did not feel that it would be a particularly great loss to the galaxy.

"Good. Emmy can meet peo-ple. Peo-ple can pet Emmy."

"Get ready, Emmy."

"Yes, daddy."

Prometheus cloaked and altered course. She was going to join the fracas.

TheEnterprise as more phasers struck her shields. "Our aft shields are to 40%!" reported Scotty. "I've also completed the dropping of our antimatter pods, Sir."

With the antimatter pods dropped, the Enterprise now had no reason to continue to have her aft shield pulverized. The Sephrioth ships were now heading directly towards the deadly pods which were as deadly as any anti-ship mine. "Sulu, drop us from warp!" ordered Kirk. "Ahead full impulse." The Enterprise quickly decreased her speed. Inertial dampeners kept everyone from feeling the effects of the decelleration. "Scotty, put the warp core's power output to weapons and shields! Checkov, fire at will!"

Sulu and Checkov coordinated their attack patterns. The 305 meter long cruiser banked hard to port allowing her port phaser banks to fire orange streaks of light at the enemy ships. She fired her port phasers and turned to put her bow at the enemy ships. At this point, she fired 2 photon torpedoes out of each of her dual tubes at the base of the ship's neck. Her forward phaser banks began firing. The Enterprise was doing well as she was able to cycle through numerous phaser arcs while spreading the enemy fire to her 6 different shield sections. The Enterprise's shields were still taking some heavy fire. Even now they would start failing eventually.

"Sir, it appears we have a new ship approaching!" reported Spock as he looked into his scanner. "It's an allied ship." The allied ship was the Fujisan. She approached the Enterprise and extended her shields around the Starfleet cruiser's weakened shields allowing her to better withstand fire.

ISS Defiant NCC-121

The cloaked ISS Defiant streaked out of the Bajor system and was now in the same quadrant of the Bajor Sector that the battle was taking place in. "Nog, raise the Enterprise," ordered Sisko. "Enterprise, this is Captain Benjamin Sisko of the starship Defiant. We are en route to assisting you. What do you require?"

"It's good to hear from you Ben," responded Kirk. "Do you have any of those self-replicating mines aboard?"

"As a matter of fact, we have a coupe of hundred of them aboard," responded Sisko as he grinned with anticipation.

"Would it be too much trouble to lay those around those ships?" asked Kirk.

"Not at all," responded Sisko. "We'll begin shortly." With that the transmission ended. Sisko returned to his chair. "Worf, I want you and Dax to get those mines activated. Those mines are cloked so we will drop them and when one detonates its neighbor will replicate another one."

"Are you sure they will work Sir?" asked Nog from his helm console.

"They will work," responded Sisko. "If they didn't then Weyoun wouldn't have had to wait 5 months before trying to send in reinforcements." That thought made Sisko smile about how Dukat and Weyoun had thought they had won that war only to have their 2,500 ship fleet deleted from existance by the Phrophets as the ships traveled through the Celestial Temple.

"I agree they will work Sir," interjected Dax. "The only problem is we don't have enough mines to destroy all of those ships."

"I agree Old Man, but we do have enough to do some serious damage," responded Sisko. "Besides, after the mines do their work, we will then decloak and engage them with 12 other Starfleet vessels and other possible assistance coming to help."

"Sir, it appears that the ships are slowing down," reported Spock. "They have stopped."

"Speculations Mr. Spock," asked Kirk?

"From what I can assertain, it looks like they are just transferring power to weapons and shields," reported the Science/1st Officer.

"A dumb move Keptain," interjected Checkov. "They are giving up any maneuwerability. All of our shots vill hit vhile we can still ewade theirs. We also can maneuwer around to vhere ve are out of most of their veapon arcs."

"You heard that Mr. Sulu, maneuver around their forward weapon arcs," ordered Kirk. "Checkov, fire a full spread of quantum torpedoes! Continue firing at will. Sulu, continue evading enemy fire and allowing Checkov to cycle through all phaser arcs to allow continuous fire."

---------------------------------------------------------

While this was going on, the Defiant had arrived under cloak. "What can you tell me about those ships?" asked Sisko.

"They have stopped to put power to weapons and shields," responded Worf.

"Ensign, let's continue under cloak," ordered Sisko. "Are those mines ready yet Old Man?"

"Yes sir, we can deploy them when you give the go ahead," responded LT CDR Dax.

"Alright Nog, let's get within a kilometer of those ships and start releasing the self replicating mines at once," ordered Sisko. With that command, the cloaked warship closed in on the enemy and started dropping the mines. Once one mine detonated, its neighbor would use its replication unit to create another one to replace that one. That meant that despite only havint 250 mines, the Defiant might as well have been carrying thousands of them. Each individual mine wouldn't do serious damage, but the entire complement of them would. After carefully maneuvering the ship under impulse power, the mines began to be dropped out of the aft cargobay. The mines themselves, like the Defiant were cloaked.

Once the mines were dropped, the field was activated and they homed on in the enemy ships. They wouldn't destroy the entire formation, but they would hopefully do considerable damage.

"Alright Nog, take us away at full impulse," ordered Sisko. "Mr. Worf, prepare to raise shields and decloak. Ready, NOW!" With the Defiant in a good firing position, she decloaked. Her shields and weapon systems were ready to immediately fire. The small Defiant was one of the smallest starships in existance, but she was also one of the most heavily armed. Every piece of that warship had been designed to fight a war. The Defiant came in blazing with her 4 pulse phaser cannons firing multiple bursts. The ship also was firing her 3 phaser beams and her 3 forward quantum torpedo launchers were delivering torpedoes that were much more powerful than the dated photon torpedoes on the Enterprise.

The Defiant was making continuous attack runs on full impulse and making evasive maneuvers while opening fire. It was hoped her speed and size would be the best defense for the ship. If those failed, she did have ablative armor and shielding.

--------------------------------

Back on Kirk's Enterprise, things were not looking so good. The ship was taking many hits. There were black scorch marks on her hull. While her shields were up, they were fluctuating and power from enemy weapons was now starting to damage the ship. Sparks flew across the bridge as ODN circuits exploded once enemy phasers caused a burst of power to overload them.

"Scotty, damage report!" yelled Kirk.

"Our port nacelle is damaged Sir," reported Scotty. "I can only give you a max of warp 6. Our weapon systems are still functioning. I had to put auxiliary to the structural integrity field. We got a hull breach on the port ventral side of the saucer section. It's only crew quarters, but it still could be a problem."

"Spock, any suggestions?" asked Kirk who was now worried that he would have to withdraw.

"Sir, it appears that 12 Starfleet ships have just dropped out of warp and are going to red alert," reported Spock from his science station. Enterprise wasn't done here yet.

"Uhura, open up a hailiing frequency," ordered Kirk. "Tell them to open fire."

"They are disengaging Sir," reported Spock with a rare hint of emotion in his voice.

"Shall we pursue, Keptin?" asked Checkov.

"Negative Mr. Checkov," responded Kirk. "Let's maintain Red Alert. Try to contact all other ships in the are and lets find out who those people were. In the meantime we need to get to DS9 for repairs. Mr. Sulu, set a course for that station. It looks like we have 13 Starfleet warships to escort us there."

The Enterprise turned towards DS9 and went to warp factor 6. They were less than an hour away from the station. The whole formation of 14 Starfleet warships moved in with the ISS Defiant leading the way. She had performed remarkably in battle for the 2nd time today. She had killed 5 Miranda class destroyers and heavily damaged many other warships. For most ships, that would be what they would do in their career, but this wasn't even the busiest day in the Defiant's history.

"Scotty, damage report," asked Kirk through the comm system.

"Main Energizer is heavily damaged Sir," reported Scotty. "It's bypassed like a Christmas tree. Our port ventral phaser was destroyed. We have a hull breach on the ventral port side of the saucer section. Our impulse generators and auxiliary generators are running normally. Our port warp engine was damaged though. We also have some damage to our sensor system. We have many ODNs destroyed in addition to some other equipment. We're gonna keep the DS9 engineers busy for a wee bit."

"Mr. Spock, do you have anything on sensors?" asked Kirk.

"Not at the moment, but they can still come around and try to attack us."

"They will reget it if they do," stated Kirk. "We got a large portion of our fleet at DS9. Heck that station alone could take out all of those ships they sent at us."

Kirk sat there wondering if the enemy would attack DS9. Kirk had remembered that twice DS9 had been attacked. Once by a large portion of the Imperial Klingon Fleet. They had paid dearly in that attack which had been led by the Changeling who replaced General Martok. The Dominion then took the station in the first battle of the "Dominion War." They had taken the station, but their force included almost the entire combined Dominion-Cardassian fleets commanded by Weyoun and Gul Dukat. DS9 still really did her job there. They had not a single starship supporting them and still destroyed 50 enemy ships. They could've kept fighting and taken another 50 more had Sisko not ordered the evacuation of the station. Even the Defiant hadn't been there to support DS9. She was busy laying the self-replicating minefield at the mouth of the wormhole.

The Ambassadore, having arrived too late to participate in the battle, had tailed the Enterprise. Thus, when the Sephrioth message was picked up, the SeaQuestian pilot considered his options.

Transmitted to the Sephrioth:

The attack on the IDF vessel by your ships was unprovoked. We have had past encounters with your warmongering ways and, frankly, you are pissing everyone you encounter off. Its time to shape up or ship out. There are plenty of nations out there itching to wipe you out if you mess with them again. This is your first and only warning.

Transmitted to the IDF ships:

We have had past experience with the warmongering ways of those of Sephrioth. They love unprovoked attacks at every encounter and flee like cowards once the going gets tough. It is our reccomendation that you do as many star-faring civilizations have done, ignore them and blow them out of the sky if they act up.

Now, on to more important matters, I am here as a representative of my nation to yours. Details of this would be more easily discussed face-to-face, if that would be alright with you.

OOC: @IDF: I know. But, IC'ly, the Ambassadore and her pilot didn't.
@Seph: If your Slipstream and Transwarp allow you to interact with a ship at Warp, then they are obviously only using canon names for obviously non-canon tech.

Kirk recieved the communication from the Sephrioth fleet. "Negative, we do not need assistance," responded Kirk. "We wouldn't mind having a truce between our empires though."

The Enterprise was now under impulse power and only a few kilometers from DS9. Chief O'Brien had told Kirk to head to upper-pylon 2 where the Enterprise would recieve her repairs.

O'Brien's crew was very efficient. They had lots of practice from the Dominion War and could quickly make major repairs to just about any ship. The Enterprise would be docked at DS9 for 2 weeks. Not all of that time would be spent reparing her. She had planned on making a stop here for a week's time. They were supposed to upgrade her sensor array and tractor gear. Now damage would lead to an extra week's work.

Scotty and his team had done a lot of work already. The Main Energizer was almost fully repaired. With the ship on impulse, he was albe to shut it down and begin to take it apart. He also needed 140 new anti-matter containment pods for the ship's 5 year mission.

The 131 meter long Ambassadore would read as one life-sign overall. The ship itself was alive and self-aware, thus making it difficult to distinguish between the ship and her pilot. The bio-skin covering her also tended to block, reflect, and/or absorb most sensor scans.

((Well, my intro didn't last long... as every ship left the system in warp right after my ships appeared. It happens in a universe filled with inumerable star faring races.))

The shuttle Prometheus decloaked at the edge of the former battlezone. Though she was heavily armed, her main plasma cannon was powered down.

------

OOC: Similar to the Romulan weapon in Balance of Terror.

------

From the small but powerful ship came a message.

This is Falsus of Borg aboard Prometheus. I have been monitoring
your communications. I have experience as a diplomat on the Klingon
world Chronos--and if anyone can find a more demanding job than keeping
peace among Klingons, I'd like to know what it is--and am registered with
the IDF and am known among some Sephrioth as one who has brought
pirates to justice. I offer my services as a mediator in the proposed
truce negotiations.

----------------

OOC: I'm resurrecting a couple of characters I used in the old Federation online RPG. Falsus was a starfleet officer in that sim, and is not one in this, however. Falsus is short of stature, and not as strong as you might think, but amazingly quick and agile. He wears make-up to make his skin appear more like that of other humanoids, and a "smooth harness" that hides the hoses that run through his head. He also has two artificial hands. One is six-fingered with two thumbs; the other is also six-fingered, but is circular in design, with all digits opposible. The wrist joint on this hand allows it to rotate freely. Falsus can turn a screw without ever letting go of the screwdriver.

He spent a few years on Chronos, and he almost went native (in the FRPG, he was a Borg diplomat there after the Borg "awakened," but I'm not sure you'd be willing to take on something so non-cannon). As a result, he's very good with Klingon small arms, and also tends to be a bit short-tempered and arrogant, as a good Klingon should be. :) :) :) Eventually, Klingon racism forced him out into space again.

In "The Federation," there was even a Falsus Maneuver. :) :) :)

Prometheus appears to have no power source. This is because she gets her power from a "pocket universe" that another species has set up using black holes and stars. Think of it as the ultimate storage battery.

In the same 'corus of voices' type voice, Kosh replied, "My ship is my own. There are no others. My ship will arrive once relations are confirmed."

The red 'eye' dialated a little. Kosh's statement was true. The 131 meter long light cruiser varient of the Ambassadore class wasn't his personal transport varient that had been bonded to him.

"My purpose here is for negotiation reasons and to be the represenative of SeaQuest to IDF," he added.

As Kosh spoke, the Ambassadore he arrived in 'spat out' a young, female Mulian who appeared to be around half of Sisko's age. Her wings, currently held flat against her back, are snow white with a lavender tinge. With her was an Alteran women who appeared to be around Sisko's age.

"How do you do?" the Alteran said to Sisko with a polite nod of the head, "I'm Ambassador Kosh's assistant, Lyta Alexander (http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b91/SeaQuest_Sim/Schematics/SeaQuestian%20Commonwealth/Character%20Pics/Lyta01.jpg). Pleasure to make your aquaintance and the young lady with me is Abigale Newhope. You would be?"

When her name was said, the young Mulian curtsied politely.

OOC: @IDF: Just a heads up, but I thought you should be aware first thing. Lyta is a high-level telepath (its something she needs for her job) and has some telekinetic abilities as well. Kosh himself has is rated many, MANY times higher than her in both and other psychometric abilities. Abigale, well, she's at Betazoid level.
@DO: As IDF is setting this RP at the same time as his 'Pirate' one, I technically have my trio of White Stars in system, but one's docked with the station and can't get involved.

IC: Still guarding the Independence class mega-frieghter, the duo of White Stars that hadn't docked with the IDF station sat on the opposite side of the Red Star than the direction she was shielding herself from with the Bajoran vessel. The two SeaQuestian vessels cloaked and closed at 45 PSL. The cloak equipped on the trio of White Stars escorting the Independence was several generations old and was one of the earliest models developed by SeaQuest. As they had long since retired from being front-line ships, it served quite nicely for these White Stars. Once in range, the two ships decloaked and began trying to latch onto the Red Star with their own tractor beams. Any weapons fire directed at them from the rouge ship would impact against the trans-spatial shields both had deployed.

And then, the Red Star felt Prometheus' wrath. In a single fluid motion, the small craft made a short warp jump to a point directly above the Valeji and instantly released a cloud of enveloping plasma. Caught as she was in the White Stars' tractor beams, the ship had nowhere to run. With any luck, it would bring down her shields and silence her weapons. With poor luck, she would be burnt to a crisp in a matter of seconds. Somewhere in the middle would be the plasma field backing up along the White Stars' tractor beams and putting them nearly out of commission.

Before the weapon even struck home, Prometheus began to broadcast a message, more at the alien combattants than to them.

This is Prometheus to pirate vessel. Any further attempt to endanger

OOC:

OK. You've got me good an' confused here.

Is the "pirate vessel" the Red Star or the Prometheus (after all, it is possible that, from the point of view of the Seprioth, Prometheus is a pirate ship)? And what's going to happen to the plasma field?

(I had assumed that Drac was smart enough to pick up on the fact that his ship's guns can detonate the field...Falsus is really just trying to scare the Red Star away, figuring that she'll run when the detonating plasma blinds everybody's sensors.)

The Red Star was held fast by the tractor beams of the two White Stars. Trapped, the warship desperately attacked the two wardens as the Seraphim moved closer. The Red Star's particle beam cannons raked over the two White Stars, trying to disable the tractor beams.

At such close range, the shields, normally invisible to the unaided eye, flare up under the assault. The two Whitestars (OOC: Been mistakenly making it two words for a few post, my bad) began to drag the Redstar away from DS9. Once the Captain's of the duo judged the distance to be sufficient, they could proceed to the next step and disable the ship.

OOC: @DO: Was a little sparse in detail on damage as I don't know how powerful the particle beam cannons are.

"Captain, a Bajoran freighters in trouble" the tactical officer reported.

"she's badly damaged and breaking up".

Captain Miromuta thought briefly and ordered "take us in and lock onto the survivors. drop the shields and beam them aboard using both transporter rooms"

the Fujisan not having docked was able to move using the thrusters and close with the stricken freighter, drop its shields and start beaming the crew off after telling them what was going to happen.

In Balance of Terror (TOS episode), the plasma field moved faster than Enterprise's emergency warp speed. It would have hit the Redstar before the Whitestars had the chance to move her anywhere.

OTOH, this IS science fiction, so I guess we can just gloss over that small fact...perhaps the two ships were already moving her before Prometheus got there. Oh well...

Here is another movie which shows beam cannons being used (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qiWAgQeAVY&mode=related&search=), in the main engagement, not the things that blow up the sun.

2. Red Star - Valeji Class Cruiser))

The Whitestars dragged the cruiser away from the station, weapons flaring, just as a new ship appeared. The plasma cloud raced to enveloped the three. But before anything happened, three particle beams and a line of plasma torpedos cut into the Red Star, breaking the spine of the vessel. The explosion dissipated the tractor beams and plasma cloud. The Seraphim shadowed the whole event.

"Target is breaking up."

"Bring me a body."

"Sir!"

The Seraphim disgorged a flight of strikecraft to recover survivor pods as explosions rocked the vessel in its death knell.

OOC: So, basically, its an uber cutting laser of sorts? Particle beam weapon, if it uses the same principle as the one I use (basically, acellerating atoms to c-frac or c), are used by my nation in a few forms. Its not exactly that complex of a technology and is usually one of the first beam weapons many FT start-up nations develop alongside railguns and missiles.
If its as powerful as the one seen in the first video that punched a hole in that ship, then I'll say the majority were dodged (I have plans for the trio of Whitestars in IDF's 'Pirate' RP thread) and the rest were deflected and/or absorbed by the shields.
Lol, at 1.2 klicks long, that's one hell of a size difference between the Red Star and my Whitestars (475.6 meters long each).

IC: The shots from the Red Star continued to cause the shields of the Whitestars to flare up. In fact, if she hadn't been destroyed when she was, she would have found her beams striking the regenerative adaptive armor of the older Whitestar of the two. If it had taken too long to adapt to the weapons fire, or it was simply too powerful, the ship would have been toast. Luckily, the Seraphim destroyed her before it was to late for the SeaQuestian ships. Thrown into wild spins due to the explosion and the sudden release of the tractor beams, the duo whirled off for a few klicks before they could be brought back under control.

The older one, the more damaged of the two, shot off towards the Independence. Entering inside the many times larger ship, she would dock for repairs. In the meantime, the less damaged of the Whitestars remained and hailed the Seraphim:

Hopefully you can afford to give reperations for all the damage your little friend that you blew up caused.

Now, care to explain what you were doing chasing such a dangerous ship like that here?

To Sephrioth:

Used to be, but not any more.

You have a problem with them? Don't blame me. I quit that game.

Falsus watched as debris from the exploding ship popped the plasma field's envelope, causing it to dissipate harmlessly.

Well, he thought, some problems solve themselves. He decided that the best thing that he could do now was not cause any more trouble.

Prometheus to DS9 control. You have neither accepted nor
denied my offer to help moderate your negotiations. Request permission to
come aboard and talk things over.

Prometheus was more unusual than she appeared--which, right now, wasn't very. Given her almost unlimited power supply, it wasn't really that much of a stretch that she was mostly a craft of force fields and photons. Right now, she appeared to be almost a standard IDF shuttle. That was the look de jour. On a moment's notice, she could shift both her appearance and her performance characteristics--if you've got enough energy and the right patterns, you can replicate or tear down almost an entire ship--and this was how Prometheus was designed. A variable interior/exterior around/within an inner base. The potential was almost limited to the pilot's imagination--and Falsus had quite an imagination.

Won't they be surprised when a docking module appears out of nowhere, beamed right where it's needed? the demiborg thought.

As the message went out, the remaining Whitestar started going through the debris herself. That particle beam weapon the Red Star had used would be a useful find. A ship mounted version of the weapon that powerful could come in quite handy for the Imperial Commonwealth.

OOC: Note: The captain of that particular Whitestar isn't exactly good at tact. He's brash, rude, and agressive. However, those qualities make him one hell of a pirate hunter, something he's had years of experience doing.

There was a lot of activity along Upper Pylon Three. ISS Enterprise, NCC-22 was now fully reparied. She had dozens of Duranium hull plates along her ventral saucer section replaced. That area of the ship had suffered the most damage.

Chief Miles O'Brien and his crew had installed a pair of brand new phaser arrays in that section to replace ones destroyed in the attack. DS9's crew also had replaced the engine nacelle cover on the port side as it had taken some damage. The warp engine inself was repaired by Scotty and his engineering team.

Scotty's team had been busy with internal systems. Industrial replicators had created many parts needed for the ship. Many bridge consoles and ODNs across the ship were replaced and had some wiring work done to prevent future overloads. Most of the work was done on the Main Energizer though. Scotty and his team worked to redo the powerfeeds. They had overloaded during the battle causing Scotty to "bypass it like a Christmas tree." Luckily, the work was done.

There was some other work done like the planned upgrading of the Constitution (refit) class cruiser's sensor pallet and communications systems.

Now it was time for the ISS Enterprise to leave. Moorings were cleared and Sulu guided the ship out on impulse power. Once she was 200 km from the station, the 305 meter long exploration/warship went to warp speed. While she was heavily armed, the hopes were that she wouldn't be needed in that capacity on this mission.

There were hundreds of races in the Beta Quadrant to be discovered. Kirk had heard of races like the Klingons, Romulans, and Tholians. He had never encountered any though. He was eager to meet them and hoped they would be peaceful. Only time would tell.

Well...he'd almost gotten the Sephrioths to the table. That was a minor miracle in itself. All he needed now was for the (admittedly busy) people on the space station to LET THEM LAND and he could begin a round of negotiations that would, he hoped, eventually lead to better Sephrioth relations not only with himself but also with the IDF.

The Seaquestians were off the mark. The Sephrioths weren't cowardly, they were paranoid. Repeated pirate and Borg attacks left them that way. They challenged anything that got too close because they'd been burned so often by ships masquerading as foreign dignitaries or as derelicts, and ran from anything that started to get the upper hand because they needed to preserve every ship they had. The tactics actually worked on a limited basis.

And now it was time to see if they could overcome their paranoia, for a test of the Seprioths' trustworthiness. If it proved successful, the negotiations could go ahead as planned. If it failed, they wouldn't have worked anyway.

Changing his communicator to a narrow-beam transmission, Falsus relayed to to the Ascendant a sequence of little-used Borg commands that could awaken every Borg on a cube ship. He had developed it years ago, and was not sure whether it would work any longer, and he included that disclaimer in the message, but if the Borg hadn't tightened their security--and the need had never been exposed--it would be just what the Seprioths needed.

The Borg Command Set had an archaic command called UPGRADE. Falsus had no idea why it had never been depreciated--Borg regen chambers performed the function automatically these days--but it was there. If, during an UPGRADE cycle, one could initiate a fail safe--a charge to the right power line, or the introduction of the right system virus into the right system--it would cause the Borg who was UPGRADING to regain full consciousness, and to keep it until that Borg's Mental Coprocessor was reinitialized. Falsus had come across this while trying to figure out how he himself had been awakened.

The security hole would be easy to plug, but...if it was still there...the Seprioths could use it to turn the tables on the Borg who were attacking them. With this sequence of events, they could fix it so that, instead of the Borg assymilating them, they were assymilating the Borg.

Falsus terminated the transmission. It was done. He now had no knowledge that would prevent the Seprioths from attacking him again. If they chose to do so, it would be a fight to the death--if he gained the upper hand, Falsus would follow the Seprioths anywhere that they would run--but if, instead, they chose to continue the negotiations, then they would put to rest any impugnments that the Seaquestians or anyone else might make against their honor.

Falsus wondered if they realized just how great an opportunity he was giving them.

Then he went back to watching his patience with the traffic controllers on DS9 slip away again.

This is pretty d----d irresponsible, the way you're ignoring my posts & Seph's.

The story line has the potential to negotiate a Sephrioth/IDF alliance. Ignored. There was a freighter that got chopped to pieces while every officer on the station was either watching or in need of a court martial for derelection of duty. IRL, that's an act of war. IDF response: no response--not even a single word.

Maybe I should have my character turn pirate. The people on DS9 are so wimpy he'd be able to make off with half the station or more before anybody lifted a finger (or whatever) to stop him.

Now, I bring in a character who has access to technology that should have half of section 31 trying to rip his ship off to get at it, AND he shows every sign of being willing to ask questions before he shoots. AND he gets the respect of a race that would be perfectly happy to turn the IDF into Borg food. Even from a purely selfish perspective, he could be useful.

So cold the Sephrioth. They've held out against the Borg. Not everyone can do that. The IDF just might want to consider studying their battle tactics.

SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!?! Please enlighten me, because I am totally MYSTIFIED!

@Seaquest: "Coward" is what the schoolyard bully calls the little kid who finds a way to beat him. It was Goliath's last word. :) :) :) I find it amusing that your mighty and civilized empire would use it to describe the Sephrioth. The implications are...mildly humorous. :) :) :) Please don't take that the wrong way--I have nothing but respect for you. I thought you might get the joke.

The salvage ship began to tractor in the debris surrounding the hulk, clearing room so that it may get to the actual vessel. It concentrated on any weaponry that it could find and reuse, like undetonated torpedos or intact weapon turrets. This was mainly due to the fact that the new ships were in short supply and the materials to rebuild few, as the shipyards and industry necessary for their construction were just getting off the ground.

The salvage ship almost ran into the Whitestar as they both were looking for salvage. The shock of the meeting sent a panic through the vessel and they fired off a message to the Seraphim. A bomber squadron was launched, thinking that the Whitestar, shrouded by the debris field, was another one of the Rechank's friends trying to rescue him. The three wings, four bombers each, were within moments entering the field.

OOC: As you may have noticed, I don't RP as 100% canon. Thus, my 'Kosh' in this thread, uses the encounter suit design of my Ulkesh (who I've not RPed with yet) and the name of my Kosh (who, thus far, has only shown up in one RP). While the near First One tech level may be powerful in the B5 universe, there is plenty in the NS-verse that either matches it or surpasses it. With a flutter of his yellow-tinged white wings, he continued, as he made sure his boneblades wouldn't get caught on anything, "Is it to be hand-to-hand or with swords?"

Looking at his 'opponent', he noted how similar the physiology(sp?) was to that of a standard Draco sapiens of SeaQuest. A race that he had faced in honor duels, mostly training ones, before and, depending on the skill of his opponent, he either won or lost.

With that he strode into the circle, his sword held with one hand.

Captain Davidson Darktort rustled his wings subcounciously(sp?) at the hint that any SeaQuestian, be they from the Imperial Commonwealth or Dark Empire, would interfere in a Honor Duel without permission.

"I'll let that slide due to your lack of knowledge of his," Davidson said with a hint of venom, "But, for your safety, it would probably be best if you didn't instigate such things again. Some of my crew can be a little hot-headed."

Drawing his sword, he stepped into the 'ring' and twirled it as his muscle memory began to awake. With his captain's vest on, his Bone Blades were free and clear of any obstruction, so he also relaxed and constricted the required tendons and muscles that would put them into combat position instead of lying flat against his forearms.

Noting the forcefeild in the corner of his mind's eye and the position of his opponent, Davidson gauged his options now knowing he wouldn't have much time to do any thinking later on. Noting the obvious weak points of his reptilian counterpart, he shifted to a stance where his blade crossed his body diagonly in such a way it could easily be moved to block an attack.

OOC: The Captain is a member of a custom strain of humanity I've worked up. Homo sapiens seaquestus is an amalgam (composed of some of my more common strains of humanity that have easier times of finding pics for) of generally Earth human features, classic angelic like wings that can come in various colors which are large enough to allow flight, Nietzschean (Homo sapiens invictus (another of my strains of humanity)) style bone blades (three on each forearm), and that's just external differences (I didn't see any reason, currently, to list non-physical traits and internal differences).
SeaQuest's Current Species Population Ratios:
Various Strains Of Humanity (Alterans, Mulians, Nietzscheans, et cetera): 80%
Furlings (basically humanoid foxes) And Draconians (my version of a species similar to yours but more draconic than humanoid in physical form): 15%
Other: 5%

IC: Stronger than he looked, Davidson timed his sidestepped so that he could whack the charging humanoid reptile with the flat of his blade with enough force that Pala'din's momentum would be added enough so that he would travel face first into the force field. Davidson was curious as to the effect of the field and wanted to know what physical contact with it would do.

OOC: The 'stronger than he looks' comment was in reference to that the strains of humanity on NS in comparison to your guys would look weak and thus be easily underestimated in physical strength. Also, I predict this will be an interesting fight as, juding from the intial moves, our general fighting methods and philosophies differ.
Draconic Order

((Ah, bone blades like the Nietzscheans in Andromeda.))

The flat of the blade smacked against the scaly hide of the dragonoid. The slight push added to his momentum caused the creature to slide into the shield. The shield was quite invisible to the eye until something struck it. The area of the field lit up in blue and white, sparks shooting out and around Pala'din. His muscles twitched suddenly and he cried out in pain. He was pushed away within seconds, partially stunned, small wisps of smoke rising from his body from being slightly cooked. It took him a couple seconds to recover, his head rising from its hanging state to glare at his opponent.

OOC: Yep.

IC: Politely allowing his opponent to recover as was stipulated by the rules of an honor duel in the Imperial Commonwealth, Davidson tried to work up tactics where he could use the electrical side effects of physical contact with the force field.

"Shocking," chuckled Davidson

At the same instant, he went into a sweep kick aimed at the draconian captain's feet while swinging his sword in just the right way to leave only one escape route open, back into the force field. Of course, there were still other options open to Pala'din.

OOC: TBH, I hadn't thought that far. Its not one of my top-of-the-line swords that are made of a special metal able to stand up to lightsabres. Its not one of my Keyblades (those are more for my magick weilding troops). Lets just say its made of a metal that I need to work up a name for that can stand up to vibro-blade weapons but not lightsabres. A'right? Oh, and the design is reminisciant(sp?) of a katana.

IC: Expecting the unexpected, Davidson wasn't as off-guard as he could have been. Thus, when he found out the draconian captain's tail was prehensile, he used one hand to jab for the closest armpit while using his other to open his boot so that he could leap out.

OOC: Just so you know, this is only the second time I've actually RPed such an encounter and my first wasn't so good. But, I can assure you, this one is already better than that one.

Davidson manages to get his foot out of his boot, but it was too late. He managed to get out of the hold quick enough not to hit full on, the momentum of the spin enough to finish most of the turn. He was sent flying several feet off course, away from the dragonoid's tail, missing the opportunity to jab Pala'din. His footwear hit the floor as his shoulder smacked against the field, sending a jolt through his left side. The shield ejected him away, sliding a foot away from the field by the force of it.

When he did, Davidson looked around to see where his sword had landed. He had instinctively gripped harder when the draconian captain had used his tail as the possibility of using it as a club like an early hominid would was a instictual chance. However, he had not gotten the chance and the blade went skating across the floor to almost the other side of the arena when his foot left his boot.

As Davidson dove for his sword, Pala'din rushed upon him. Davidson grabbed his sword and managed to bring it up just in time to block Pala'din's crushing blow, saving himself. The swords grated against each other, sparking slightly. The dragonoid snarled as he pushed harder, trying to cut Davidson with his own weapon.

Davidson, using his booted foot to do it, instead of his currently bare foot to avoid cutting himself on the scales and thus loosing the match, aimed a high kick for Pala'din's chin. It didn't matter the draconian captain's anatomy wasn't the same as Davidson's, but what did was that, if his brain was where Davidson predicted judging from anatomical features, the impact of the kick would be just hard enough to send the reptile reeling momentarily, thus giving Davidson needed time to get back his balance and start seeing about going on the offensive.

Pala'din was caught off guard by the flexibility of his opponent. The booted foot planted itself under his chin with enough force to cause the dragonoid to stagger back a foot or two. His head fell back by the blow. He shook off the slight stinging sensation due to the force of the kick before affixing his eyes on Davidson again.

OOC: I strongly doubt that IDF will come back here. I would imagine that he is frustrated that his exploration thread turned into yet another pointless fight before he even left his borders.

OOC: You honestly don't think that exploration would mean taking the good with the bad? You can't expect me to believe that IDF wasn't willing to meet the good guys and the bad guys out there? You can't expect me to believe that you only make exploration threads to meet friendly nations, which not all are. As I'm sure you are well aware, Seph is only one of the 'shoot first, shoot second, shoot some more, and then ask questions if you feel like it' nations on NS.

IC: Davidson had used his opponent's momentary distraction to retrieve his lost boot. Quickly slipping it on, he jumped on Pala'din's back and moved to whang the draconian on the back of the skull with the pommel of his sword.

Surprisingly, Pala'din would find that his attempts at disloding Davidson may have disrupted his attempts at landing a blow, but it caused him to wrap his arms around the draconian's neck, compressing his windpipe, and his legs around the reptilian captain's chest. In a dual role, he was squeezing as hard as he could to hold on and try to drop Pala'din.

A hushed silence filled the cargo hold. The strength of the one called Davidson was more than what it seemed. It was no small feat to cause a dragonoid to fall unconcious through slow suffication and it took almost an hour to bring the proud Pala'din down. A moment passed in awe before the soldiers nodded to each other, Davidson had won. The force field was dropped and a medical team was standing by to cart off the captain. A dragonoid in an officer's uniform approached Davidson after he collected himself.

"That vessel is yours. We will stay until we have every survivor, then we will leave."

Davidson nodded in understanding. With his hands on his knees, he was bent over from exhaustion. Barely able to stand, he was just lucky Pala'din went down before he did. Even his wings seemed to droop.

"Let your captain know," he gasped, "that he has earned a place in our halls of honor, a rare thing for an outsider, but he deserves it. Let him know he'll be welcome at the ceramony."

Still recovering, he gestured at his X.O., calling her over. Through a telepathic link, she relayed Davidson's further messages verbally to the draconian.

"As for the ship, our interest lies in the weapon they used on us before the end.

"We will also help you retrieve the crew. Any classifed material there your nation doesn't want to get out, you may retrieve.

"The remaining debris can go to either side, depending on what is decided then. Agreed?"

As the conversation was going on, an Ensign retrieved Davidson's sword and put it back in its seath. Carefully, he took it back aboard the Whitestar, passing a male Draconian (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v649/JPKTrekker/Character%20Pics/Bronze_Dragon_by_jaxxblackfox.jpg) Lieutenant Commander along the way.

The Draconian Lieutenant Commander and the X.O. half-carred Davidson back to the Whitestar. Davdison saw a young female Alteran Ensign still managed to find time to bend down and examine what looked like a puddle of saliva from where Pala'din had gone down. He couldn't be sure what happened next, as the crowd of observers of the dual rushing back to the Whitestar blocked his line-of-sight for a bit, but he next saw her standing up and a glint as she slipped something into a pocket before joining the others in returning to the Whitestar.

Once back in his command chair on the bridge of his ship, Davidson watched as the Draconian Order vessel left in hot pursuit of the fleeing stolen ship. Meanwhile, his X.O. was co-ordinating with the other Whitestars and the Independence in regards to searching the wreck of the Red Star for survivors, who they would turn over to the DO ships upon their return, and finding all they could about the PBC and anything else of particular interest the wrecked ship carried.

IC: The Enterprise had been traveling for weeks now and hadn't really had many encounters with other beings. They had passed mainly through already explored space. That was now changing. The ship was moving at warp factor 8.5 as she entered the uncharted Beta Quadrant. Ahead of her stood the Tholians, Romulans, Klingons, and a host of other races to be discovered.

Regula System, Mutara Sector

The Enterprise dropped out of warp at the edge of the Mutara Sector. She was moving at full impulse as her science teams worked to survey the system and its planets. Kirk had remarked that the voyage was going too quietly. He was shocked that there was no contact with the Romulans and Klingons he had heard so much about.

"We are now in orbit of Regula One," reported Sulu from the helm.

"Very Well Mr Sulu," responded Kirk. "Mr. Spock, you may begin your survey of Regula One."

"Scanning," said Spock as he looked into the blue lit scope. "The planet is uninhabitted. It has no atmosphere. I will have to launch a probe to get a full assessment of its make-up. Preliminary scans show it to be mainly made out of nickel and iron. Sir, I seem to be picking up some unknown energy readings."

Kirk looked out on viewer. He noticed a blur on the screen. "Sulu, what do you make of that distortion?"

"It appears to be an energy surge," responded Sulu. "Perhaps that is what's on the sensors."

"Is that enough energy to hide a ship?"

"A cloaking device!" realized Sulu.

"Red Alert! Shields up!" ordered Kirk. The white bridge lights were replaced with the red lights of battle as some of the screens on the bridge flashed "Alert! Condition Red!"

"My guess is that they will have to decloak before they fire," reported Checkov. He knew that this cloaked ship was either a Romulan or Klingon vessel. Neither of which had been previously encountered by Starfleet, but they had heard about those vessels.

"May all of your guesses be right," responded Kirk. Just then, 2 B'Rel class Bird of Preys decloaked.

"Klingon Bird of Preys off our port and starboard bow!" stated Spock. "They're arming torpedoes!"

"Fire Mr. Checkov!" ordered Kirk as each of her 2 photon tubes fired on the starboard Klingon vessel. The first one hit her before the shields were raised. The other three exploded against her shields as a green bubble fluttered across space. The first torpedo hit had done considerable damage. A green plasma fire was visible from the port quarter of the enemy ship.

The 2 Bird of Preys then opened fire with torpedoes and disruptor fire. The ship shook as the shields absorbed the impact. "Shields at 90%," reported Checkov. The Enterprise fired her forward phaser banks at the lead Bird of Prey. They targetted the weakened port wing. The first shots were stopped by shields, but hull damage had weakened the shield generating grid along her hull. When the Enterprise fired her starboard phaser banks, they broke through the shields and damaged the port wing disabling the port disruptor and warp engine at the edge of the wing.

The Klingon ships fired more disruptors and torpedoes as the maneuvered to port to allow her starboard and aft shields take some hits as she positioned herself for her port phasers and forward torpedo tubes. The bridge was now shaking as more hits were made. Sparks blew out of ODN cables that were beginning to be overloaded. "Shields at 70%!" reported Spock.

The Enterprise was now able to fire her port phasers at the already damaged Klingon vessel. Unfortunately, they didn't hit the exposed port side. They hit the forward shield, which was now down to 40%.

The Klingons continued to fire their weapons. The undamaged Bird of Prey maneuvered itself off of the port quarter of the Enterprise and fired at her. One torpedo hit the weakened aft shields. Most of the energy was absorbed, but some of it damaged the Enterprise causing some damage, which was made clear by the scorch marks on the hull. In the bridge, a station in the rear exploded as its ODN cables were overloaded. The console exploded killing a single officer, who was wearing red.

The Enterprise was continuing to fire on the Klingons. The forward phaser banks drained the lead ship's shields to 20%. Two more torpedoes from the port tube collapsed the Bird of Prey's forward shield. Two more from the starboard tube struck the head and main engineering hull of the Bird of Prey. The ship was spinning out of control. The shot to her engineering hull had destabilized the warp core causing an uncontrolled matter anti-matter reaction. The [i}Enterprise tried to turn away, but the explosion of the warp core breach still caused serious damage to her shields. The Enterprise healed over to port.

"Starboard shield is down!" reported Spock.

"Stabalize her Mr. Sulu!" yelled Kirk. The undamaged Bird of Prey was now firing disruptors at her starboard hull. The first one struck her starboard nacelle causing plasma to vent out into space. The 2nd disruptor struck the neck of the Constitution class starship, The 2nd one caused some consoles across the ship to explode in flames.

Kirk and his crew was angry as they returned fire. "Put auxiliary power to the phasers!" he ordered to ensure more damage would be caused. The Enterprise rotated through phaser arcs and fired continuously while trying to keep her starboard side unexposed. They also fired torpedoes.

Unfortunately, the Klingon ship was able to get to the starboard side and fire a single photon torpedo. The torpedo struck the engineering hull where the Starfleet colors were painted causing a massive explosion in main engineering. The hull was severly damaged by this hit. Fires raged across the ship.

"Mr. Scott! Damage report!" called Kirk through the intercomm.

"That one might've done us in Sir," reported Scotty. "Main energizer is out! We will have to run off of fusion generators and auxiliary power only." Just then the Klingons fired more disruptor fire at the torpeod bays. It became clear that they were destroyed as fire shot out of the forward parts of the tubes. The intercome with engineering was now filled with static as the shot disrupted communications.

"Spock what are our options?" asked Kirk.

"We have no torpedoes and our phasers on auxiliary power aren't enough to overpower them," responded Spock. "Their port shield is down, but we can't deliver enough firepower there to do much."

"Mr. Spock, how many are aboard that ship?" asked Kirk.

"Scanners show a crew of 20," reported Spock.

"Checkov, get an away team," ordered Kirk. "McCoy, and I will join you. Mr. Spock, you have the bridge. Try to coordinate with Scotty to bring as much online as you can.

Kirk had to use the emergency hatches as the turbolift was out. He, Checkov, and Bones arrived in Transporter Room 1 to find 25 security personnel there to join them with Type 1 and 2 phasers. "Janice, how much power do you have for transporters?" asked Kirk.

"I can beam you over and back," responded Janice Rand. "It will likely drain our batteries though leaving us with nothing but impulse power."

"Very well," responded Kirk. "We will beam over in groups of 7. When one group gets over, get on the pads and then beam in after us. I will go with the first group." With that, Kirk stepped on the transporter pad and was beamed over.

Kirk and the 6 redshirtted Security Officers materialized in what was probably the Klingon mess hall. Alarms blared throughout the ship to warn the Klingon crew of the invaders. Just then, 3 of them came in from the passageway and fired with their disruptor pistols. One of them struck a redshit. He screamed as every molecule in his body was vaporized.

Kirk and the others fired back with their Type 1 phaser rifles killing the 3 Klingons. Five more Klingons entered the compartment and were killed, but not before 3 other Security personnel were killed.

The next team of 7, which included Bones and Checkov, beamed over. Unfortunately, the Klingons activated a dampening field disrupting phasers. Kirk and his crew picked up Bat'leths and Daqtaghs. Kirk led the charge through the ship. He was a skillful fighter with a Bat'leth. He fought with a Klingon who had confronted him. It took a few minutes, but Kirk disarmed him and then killed him with his Bat'leth.

The entire Federation team was now over. Unfortunately, only 9 Bat'leths had been taken by the Fedartion. The rest had to pick up Daqtaghs.

The Federation team fought a bloody battle within the Klingon ship. After 15 minutes, only the 5 Klingons on the bridge were left. Fifteen Klingons were dead and 9 Federation redshirts were dead. Bones was working on 2 others who were critically wounded.

Kirk couldn't get through the bridge door. As a result, he placed his single det charge in front of the door and set it for 10 seconds. The charge went off blasting the door in towards the bridge. Kirk, Checkov, and 14 security personnel charged the bridge and a bloody battle ensued. All 5 Klingons were killed with the cost of 2 dead redshirts and 2 more badly wounded.

The 20 Klingons on the ship were killed, but 11 security officers were killed and 4 more were critically wounded. Most of the others had minor wounds. Kirk didn't have time to celebrate his victory.

"Sir!" called one of the security personnel who spoke Klingon. "This ship is set to self destruct in less than a minute."

Kirk's communicator chirped as he flipped it open. "Spock, we need emergency transport back to the Enterprise. There are 19 of us. Beam the 4 wounded and Bones first then get the rest of us."

"Very well Sir," responded Spock. Every 15 seconds, a group of 7 was beamed up until Kirk, Checkov, and 3 others were beamed up with 5 seconds to spare. The [i}Enterprise then moved at maximum speed. Unfortunately, her port shield was damaged by explosion. The ship once again was tossed through space. The battle was over, but the ship was still in serious damage.

Kirk climbed up the ladder to his bridge. He was covered in Klingon blood. "Mr. Spock, report."

"The main energizer is still offline. Fires are on decks 19-21. Our shields are offline. Our battery is drained and auxiliary power is temporarily out. Many other systems have been taken offline by ODN overloads and various hits from the Klingons. We aren't going to be able to send out a distress call for a few hours. Mr. Scott is trying to return propulsion systems and comms."

Enterprise showing severe damage to her starboard hull.

Captain Kirk had to duck as he walked through his wrecked bridge. Overhead cables from a now destroyed ODN lines hung through the destroyed overhead. Most of the consoles the bridge were blacked out or had completely exploded. The bridge was still full of smoke from now extinguished electrical fires. Much of the bridge's bulkheads were charred by fire.

Accross the rest of the ship, it was largely the same story. There was still a fire raging in the secondary hull. Deck 20 from Sections 20-24 was still on fire. The automatic fire supression system had failed and debris was hampering the fire teams' ability to put the fire out.

"Scotty, report," asked Kirk through the intercomm.

"The Mains are still down Captain," responded Scotty. "I've had to take the fusion generator down. We have severe radiation leakage. All I have left is impulse power and I've had a wee bit of problems with that. Our batteries are drained."

Kirk took all of the information down. Most of the auxiliary generators were providing power for the medical facilities and life support. He decided against contacting Bones. He was busy in sickbay. The Enterprise's losses were heavy. Thirty-one men were dead and twenty-six more were critically wounded. About a hundred more crew were injured to a lesser degree.

"Uhura, how long until comms are back on-line?" asked Kirk.

"Sir, I should have them back momentarily," responded Uhura.

"Very well," responded Kirk. "Send this on an open channel to Starfleet Command and all others within range. 'This is the IDF Starship ISS Enterprise we have encountered the Klingons near Regula 1 in the Mutara Sector and were the victims of an unprovoked attack.. The shapeless mass of modular metallic sections slowly began tucking away its various protruding elements, making itself much more compact and constrained in terms of proportions. The funnel of gas was gone, and the object moved away from the planet at high speeds. It shimmered and rippled out of view, disappearing completely as it left real-space, and this particular star system. It moved on to the next.

It left behind a depleted planet, with an atmosphere less than half of the mass it previously had, with the remnant gasses beginning to disperse into space.

"Our situation is not preferable," responded Spock. "Our shields are at minimal power and our phasers and torpedo bays are both out. We cannot run on auxiliary power. Wait Jim, I have them on sensors now about a parsec away."

"I swear Spock, we are not finished yet," responded a defiant Kirk.

The enemy ship moved into about a light year away from the Enterprise and would be at her position in a few minutes.

"Uhura, put me on all frequencies," ordered Kirk. "This is a warning to all who hear this message. This is the ISS Enterprise. Our ship is going to be destroyed in a matter of minutes from an inpending attack. We have 10 kilos of a new substance known as Corbomite. We have activated our Corbomite device at this time. It will react to any energy or torpedo weapons fired on our ship. Once it reacts, it will create a massive explosion and create radiation that will destroy all matter in the Mutara Sector. We are warning all ships that don't want to feel the effects of this devastating explosion to get out of the area while they can. OOC: The Klingons wouldn't touch a ship with Corbomite. It would be a suicidal death at their own hands. If they do that, they don't get into Sto Vo Kor.

IC: Things on the Enterprise were slowly returning to normal. The fires were out, but a large portion of deck 20 was burnt out. Decks 19 and 21 also had some severe fire damage. Damage Control teams were working around the clock to replace ODN circuits and wired bypasses around parts of the Main Energizer. Scotty reported that it would still be hours before he could even consider bringing the main energizer on-line. After all, Scotty reported it was "bypassed like a Christmas tree." The fusion generators were still flooding radioactive particles into now sealed off compartments. It would take shipyard facilities to bring them back on-line.

All of the auxiliary generators were back on-line, but they were all that was powering the striken starship. The primary lighting system was still out leaving the Constitution class cruiser with nothing but emergency lighting until the main energizer could be brought online.

"Captain, you've heard that the Enterprise is going to self destruct rather than surrender. I certainly believe that he can do it and you'll be left with nothing to show to the Klingons"

By now her tactical officer had worked out that the Enterprise could escape to fight another day. She had done what she set out to do.

"goodbye Captain. i'll see you around".

The Klingon ships were no longer going towards the Enterprise. The Corbomite Bluff had worked. Scotty and his teams had finally brought the main energizer on-line. Many blown ODNs were heavily bypassed. The ship couldn't withstand any combat, but she could make it to some nearby systems. The ISS Potemkin had now reached her and was escorting her away from Regula 1. The Enterprise's workbees were flying around the ship to make final inspections before clearing her for warp. The ship was cleared for warp and accelerated to warp 5. It was decided that exceeding warp 5 wouldn't be good for the heavily damaged energizer.

The ship did need to find drydock facilities on an alien world. Uhura got on the comms. "This is the IDF Starship Enterprise calling anyone who can help. We have been heavily damaged following an encounter with the Klingons and request drydock facilities to carry out repairs. We are on a 5 year exploration mission and need assistance."

"We appreciate the tow," responded Uhura. "But, we can make it to you on our own power. We will need coordinates for your orbital docks. We also will require that some IDF ships enter the area to drop off replacement crews and some components that can't be replicated. We will not forget this gesture from your people. Enterprise out"

The Enterprise made it to the Sephrioth drydock. The ship's auxiliary generators were used to power the impulse engines for the sub-light portion of the journey. Once the ship was hooked up to the drydock's power supply, Spock went below with Scotty to slowly bring the auxiliary generators and main energizer off-line.

The ISS Potemkin had the grim duty of loading nearly 50 bodies aboard her for the journey back to IDF territory. She also took 15 seriously injured crewmembers. The Potemkin in turn dropped off 65 replacement crewmembers who had boarded from other starships. The 65 men would join the Enterprise for the duration of her 5 year mission to explore space.

Some IDF transport ships were enroute with special parts for the ship. Most components could be purchased from the Sephrioth government. IDF would pay the full price for the costs of repairing and berthing the damaged starship.

With his ship fully secure, Kirk boarded a Type VII shuttle for a visual look at the damage to the ship. A list of materials needed for repairs would be made after this damage tour. The exterior of the white duranium hull showed numerous scorch marks and hull breaches that had to be repaired. The IDF government would have to spend a good deal of money for the duranium hull plates that needed replacing. An aft access hatch on the saucer section was intentionally left open to hopefully vent some of the radiation out into space while the ship was in the Mutara Sector.

It was clear that crews in Environmental Suits were now using magnetic boots to walk the hull and reach that comparment. The interior bulkheads were sealed to ensure that radiation didn't bleed into the ship.

Kirk saw that the warp drive was relatively intact. The port nacelle needed some duranium plates replaced due to the effects of a photon hit against the shields. The port side of the Engineering hull had nothing more than some phaser burns and a few minor hull breaches. The starboard side had a large hull breach that spanned 4 decks and 6 sections. It was clear that there was heavy exterior and interior damage in that portion of the ship. That single photon hit had sparked off fires that had gutted 2 decks of the ship and damaged 2 others before crews got them under control.

The starboard neck showed damage where phasers struck the torpdoe tubes. They would require many repairs. The phaser banks themselves were intact, but some interior systems supporting the phasers were destroyed disabling the phaser banks.

The dorsal portion of the saucer section was relatively untouched, but the ventral side showed hull breaches and black scorch marks.

Kirk had his preliminary repair list.

Photon tubes
phaser couplings and energy converters
Heisenberg Compensators for transporters
100 large hull plates of Duranium
structural duranium tubes (for decks 19-22 on starboard side)
new fusion generator for impulse engines
new consoles for various stations on the ship
Over 2000 ODN couplings
Many components for the main energizer
new aft nacelle covering on port warp engine

There were other things needed for the ship's interior, but the list of components needed from Sephrioth's shipyards got priority. Besides, starfleet ships could bring in the smaller parts needed for the less important repairs.

Operation Paladin was becoming a full blown affair across tens of billions of light-years of Alpha Universe space, with the final assault against the dark Eternals about to finally occur after a century of isolated peace.

As such, tens of millions of Sphere Alliance vessels seperate from the main invasion forces were out in literally millions of scouting sorties all across known inter-supercluster space. One such scout operation was being conducted in this very local area, as frigate class Treeships Folded a few million kilometers from an unknown combat zone, at least unknown to their sensors until they arrived, intented on simply a quick active scan of the area before Folding on to their next Fold Point, and do the same again.

Star Commander Hanna Kerensky, leading this particular operation, sees her small command Fold into view, about three million kilometers from the IDF and Sepheroth vessels. Their arrival is a noticable graviton pulse to all nearby sensors.

"MA'AM! Combat detected to the Nadir Port, Mark 541.11." A Sensor tech snapped out in a few moments after the Treeship sensors came back enfull.

"Standard defense screens. Deploy Wings. Screen any comms. AND SNAP TO!" ..Commander Hanna bellowed on the spot.

Sephrioth had been paid in full for the parts, labor, and berthing for the ISS Enterprise during her 45 day stay at the shipyard. This was done despite Sephrioth's offer to make it all free. Kirk and Scotty were passengers in the shuttle Galileo as Sulu piloted it around the ship. Kirk and Scotty were closely inspecting the outer hull of the Enterprise.

"Those engineers did a fine good job Sir," stated Kirk.

"Aye, they are good lads," responded Scotty.

The duranium plates that were used to patch up the the damaged sections were a little darker in their hue than the rest of the ship, but beyond the aesthetics the Enterprise looked as she did before the battle with the Klingons. The decision had been made early on in the repair process to not bother with painting the hull plates as a way of showing the story of the Enterprise's triumph.

On the interior of the 305 meter long starship, engineers were running final diagnostics on the main energizer and the new fusion generator. They were found to be fully functional. Checkov ran tests on the weapon systems and shields. They too were found to be fully functional.

Parts of the Enterprise such as her science laboratories and some of her computer cores couldn't be replaced at the shipyards. They would meet up with another IDF Starship to replace these unique materials. Other interior work such as painting burnt out walls and the replacing of minor components in the rebuilt decks would be completed later since they didn't require a shipyard facility for this.

As the shuttle finished its inspection, Sulu had the shuttlebay doors opened and the Galileo came in for a landing. Spock met Kirk as he left the shuttle. "How is she?" asked Kirk.

"She checks out," responded Spock. "All we need is Mr. Scott's final inspection."

Scotty made his inspection and declared her spaceworthy.

On the exterior of the Enterprise, running lights began to power up as the ship's main energizer and fusion generator were brought online. The running lights illuminated the ship against the darkness of space. Lights along the side of the ship illuminated the ship's side markings. Lights on the warp nacelle illuminated her name and registry painted on the side. Similar lights did the same on her neck. The last lights to come on illuminated her dorsal saucer. They let the universe know that this ship was the ISS Enterprise NCC-22.

OOC: My next destination is a perfect spot for Romulans to appear

IC:

The Enterprise had traveled for a month. She had cataloged some gaseous anomalies and charted star systems while en-route to the ISS Lakota.

Once the Constitution class starship met up with the larger Excelsior class battle-cruiser, additional repairs were begun. Science labs destroyed on deck 24 were replaced with modules carried in the Lakota's hold. Enterprise was now able to fully conduct her 5 year exploration mission.

The Lakota also brought the Enterprise 50 new crew members to replace those who were killed or severely injured.

With the exchange done, the Constitution class ship departed for the uncharted Devron System.

Captain Amiko Miromuta of the NKS Fujisan was also coincidently enroute to the Romulan Neutral Zone and under cloak.

Even although the Kirisubans and Romulans had their homeworlds at opposite ends of the Galaxy great minds had thought alike in regards to basic ship designs.

the Kagemon class crusier shared the same shape as the old style Romulan cruiser and also had a cloaking device. The only differences were that the Kirisuban ship was silver and didn't have a big bird painted on it.

Kirisuban ships this far out were science vessels but had plenty of teeth to bite back with if needed.

The ISS Enterprise had been picked up and Captain Miromuta had ordered that a signal be sent to the IDF vessel.

"Captain Kirk, its good to meet you again" Amiko Miromuta replied over the voice channel even although her ship couldn't be seen.
