Generia Begins Military Mobilization

Generic empire

Port Belgrade, Generia

It had been two years since the largest and most celebrated port city in the Empire had been freed from the Yaforite blockade at the end of the war. On that day, the shouts and celebratory cheers had mingled with gun and cannon fire to create a cacophony that rolled out for miles into the suburbs and countryside.

Today the only sounds were the matching footfalls of a million Imperial regulars, and the mechanical noises of a dockyard working full swing. Save for the troops, there was little other visible activity in the streets this particular Sunday morning, as General Vasilly Khukov watched from a third story window of the squat Imperial Admiralty building just across from the docks.

“Any idea what this is all about?” asked a second man wearing the uniform of a naval officer.

“Couldn’t tell you if I did know. Whatever the reason is, it’s being kept under tight wraps. They won’t even tell me, and those are my men out there. All I know is that General Iljievo’s calling up enough men to warrant more than a police action in Socal8, that’s for sure.”

“Christ. How many?”

“The goddamn lot of them. Army of the North, Army of the South, 3rd through 16th western reserve armies. Even the Buchianan detachments of the 12th Army. You know, the guys that butchered the BLA on the Lew Valley border. Every officer who even caught a whiff of combat during the Yaforite war is to be ready to mobilize his current assignment or transfer to another one at the drop of a hat.”

“Sounds familiar. The navy’s been on call for a few weeks. No one’s sure what for, but with the army on the move again, people have their suspicions. Still, High Admiral Czekov isn’t telling anyone anything.”

“We’ll find out soon enough.”

Official Imperial Statement

In light of certain recent developments, the Generic Empire has seen fit to mobilize a sizeable portion of her armed forces, to be prepared to commence operations anywhere in the world in a matter of weeks. We apologize if this is disconcerting, and assure you that no harm will come to anyone who does not already deserve it.

“In response to Generian movement of troops, we too have begun to fear for the safety of our homeland, Aralonia.” Vice Admiral Daniel Hawking chuckled. “Who the hell are the Generic Empire? Never heard of them in my life.” He shrugged.. “Nevertheless! We have begun to fear for the safety of Aralonia herself, and we are already amassing the greatest fleet ever known to Aralonia or any of her region's nations.” He put down Archon Doned Hopkins' letter, printed from the data stick, and pulled up a tridimensional of the fleet's

Hawking chuckled again inwardly and sighed outwardly. Things looked pretty bad, and were getting that way quickly.

Official Message to the Megacity Aerospace Systems, ZMI

The Defence Ministry of Czardas has long expressed an interest in a heavy anti-ship missile to counter its lack of a powerful navy. This has been fulfilled adequately, in the eyes of the Minister of Defence, by your Khan Class (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Khan_Class_Missile) missile. Therefore, we would like to purchase a total of five thousand (5,000) such units, at a total cost of one hundred billion NationStates Standard Dollars. The funds will be wired upon confirmation.

Minister of Defence

Danail Arachinovsky stares at the printout, idly intercepted as it was composed on a computer six offices down the hall in one of the Whole Sort of General Mish Mash's top military command centres. This is getting unnerving. The third order for military technology -- highly damaging technology -- in a week. With a deep sigh, the General of the 2nd National Army heads over to Ogden's office to enquire about the existence of this message.

"General Ogden," Arachinovsky begins once within the great man's office, "what is the meaning of this?"

Ogden glances at the sheet of paper. "It's actually fairly simple. We're reinforcing our military quite heavily on the advice of a few influential members of the Central Command."

"Assault Battleships... an order to mobilise the entirety of the Czardaian Armed Forces... the new submarines... now importing incredibly expensive missiles from foreign defence corporations?! What could be the cause of all this lunacy? Czardas has never been at a more peaceful time since at least the 1990s."

"Not entirely," Ogden says, handing Arachinovsky another printout.

Arachinovsky looks at the Generian statement. "You mean..."

"Quite possibly," Ogden finishes. "I've always wondered how much the nations of the Coalition Against Democracy felt shown up by failing to divide the Greater Czardaian Landmass among themselves in time to avoid the peace conference."

"But they've had their chance for ages now. Besides, Czardas is in the Sovereign League and thus protected by half of the most influential nations in the world."

"Perhaps you're right. I think I'd better have a little chat with a friend about this."

Shortly thereafter, the friend appears in Ogden's office, calmly gazing at him without surprise. Ogden says severely, and quite simply, "What on earth is the meaning of this? Is the CAD preparing to attack us?"

Alma Finlay looks around. "Is this room quite private from any conversation?"

"Yes," Ogden says.

A powerful interference pulse goes out from her wireless deactivator, making sure of Ogden's statement. Then she tells him.

Half an hour later, Ogden emerges from his own office with head reeling. Suddenly it is all starting to make sense in his mind. Arms deals, covert operations, secret communiqués, assassinations, the stuff of spy thrillers and long-forgotten wars. Names spin around his head like a Wheel of Fortune -- Aralonia, Velkya, Praetonia, Doomingsland, Juumanistra, Whyatica -- and the wheel stops pointing to a single name, and a mental river of silver coins roars from within, overpowering all with the beautiful and terrifying white light of a new dawn.

The world will never be the same again after this. He needs a cup of tea to refresh his brain. Henrik A. Ogden feels lost now, a pawn on a vast chessboard, the extent of which is incomprehensible to a mere man... and a chessboard on which White must and will win. For White always wins. Always.

And its first move is only just about to be made.

Official Czardaian Statement

Due to the recent mobilisations of such nations as the Generic Empire and the Czardaian ally, the Royal Sovereignty of Aralonia, the WSOGMMC has resolved to mobilise her own armed forces as a mere precaution, to ensure the safety of the Czardaian mainland and her colonies; any deployments are merely for the protection of Czardaian assets and should not be a cause of alarm.

~ Kari Alhoun, Czardaian Foreign Minister
The Silver Sky

[Silver City, Capital Province, The Silver Sky]

President Kara Maddox looked before the group of individuals arrayed before her, they were all itching to know about why the great allies of Czardas and Aralonia had seen it fit to mobilize the entirety of their armed forces, why were thousands of ships and airplanes and millions of men being called up for offensive operations, and why the nuclear pulse batteries arrayed along the coast were being drilled like no tomorrow.

She sighed, she was both the cause and answer of their questions.

"Ladies and Gentelmen, you're probably wondering why I've called all of you here today, well, please grab the USB drives located infront of you and plug them into your laptop, Admiral Michael Sutherland will guide you through it."

The generals and admirals did as they were told.

The meeting lasted for hours, and as Admiral Sutherland wrapped up the minds of the people arrayed in the room were reeling, former allies were now enemies and enemies now allies. They would partake in the largest allied military mobilization ever, and arguably the most important. Their future actions would shape the face of their country, and possibly the world.

"The old shall fall into the pages of history, the new shall rise to write those pages", the fate of the world were literally in the hands of only a dozen or so men.

"You are to begin their largest mobilization the country has ever seen, every man and womam in the armed forces are to be called up to aid in this massiver operations, those USB drives in your possession are to be locked away until the time of the first battle. The fate of the new world order is in your hands."

[b]North Point Naval Base, The Silver Sky]

The largest naval force in the history of the country, 5,048 total combat ships, was arrayed in the harbor and the water outside. Near the shore the massive Nuclear Pulse Gun installations, in every airforce base in the country hundreds of fighters and bombers began to take off and drill like mad for the inevitable war, the only data they lacked was who it would be against, who would face the wrath of the Skyian Republican Military.

Tens of thousands of tanks roared to life and headed for the drill ranges, while others were repaired or checked over and then loaded into transport ships to meet the naval force that would move to the northeast and then patrol before being sent off to their yet to be revieled targets.

The fate of the world rested in the balance.
Whyatica

Military High Command, Miana City, Whyatica
General King Floyd looked carefully at this latest list of international incidents, brought to his desk every morning. Ninety percent of the 'incidents' didn't matter at all to Whyatica or her allies; a random dictator commits genocide, two nations go to war, Hataria gets nuked again, whatever. Nobody really cared about those mindless barbarians outside of the civilised world. Anyway, there were several news events that caught the interest of Floyd; The mobilisations of the Generians and the Aralonians.

God damn, he thought. Aralonia can't stand a chance against the Generians if they go to war. Perhaps we can help..

He picked up the stereotypically bright red phone and said into it, "Get me the Prime Minister."

As always in these rather turbulent days, Prime Minister Powers himself picked up and said, "Yes, General Floyd, I hear you. Come to my office."

Floyd left the office quickly, not saluting to anyone, because, come on, he's a goddamn General. He left the massive military complex at record speed, heading to the Palace of Miana, the Prime Minister's residence. His car went through the myriad levels of security of the Palace, ranging from simple iron wrought gates to massive walls with barbed wire, 30mm CIWS mounts, and a surface-to-air missile battery. Could never be too careful, understand.

Twenty Minutes Later, Secured Office of the Prime Minister
General Floyd walked into the office, shaking hands with Prime Minister Powers like they were old friends. They sat down, and Rich said, "What's on your mind, General? This is rather..extravagant for an international issue.."

"Generic Empire has mobilised it's military for something, our intelligence hasn't quite figured out why yet, and,"

Richard interrupted, saying, "Why does this concern us?"

"The Aralonians have mobilised their entire military, along with the Czardaians. Someone's going to declare war, and it'll probably be Generia. I think we should mobilise the First Theatre to defend our allies, and prepare the nuclear pulse guns. We can send a general order of mobilisation to the Pentalpha Pact, and if they follow, even CAD would hesitate.."

Richard Powers hesitated for a moment. He didn't like being seen as a warmongerer by the population, but extreme nationalism was popular among the common people, and next year was an election year.

Anything to stay in power, Powers thought.

"Do what you think is best, General. I'll sign off on the mobilisation order."

"Thank you, Mr. Prime Minister." King Floyd said, and left the room..

Port Lucien suddenly exploded with activity. Before it had only been expected to see the arrival of the Hatarian emperor, now all the fleets not deployed in Socal8 or Warmaster were coming to life. The streets echoed with the many sounds of mobilization, the march of boots, the churn of waves beneath ships, men noisily boarding ships, loud talking, planes roaring by overhead. Anyone who lives relatively close to Port Lucien locked and secured themselves within their homes, ignorantly believing that the steel locks would hold back the mighty sounds of Imperial Mobilization.

In other Forge cities, military bases, and naval bases Borman military assets began to awaken and prepare for war.

"Mobilization you say? What the hell for?" The two old men sat at a sidewalk cafe on a hill over looking Izistan City's local military Aerospace Field, which had been handling a rather large number of aircraft over the past few days, never mind that armed guards at important facilities had doubled. And it wasn't just guards, tanks had been positioned around the government sector. No one was really sure what the hell was going on.

"I've got a old friend in Military Intelligence, says the Directorate will officially announce mobilization 'for the Defense of the Fatherland' tonight. Thats what I heard from him anyway.” The other old fellow said. His friend responded, “ I haven't heard 'Fatherland' since I was a boy, what the hell is going on?”

They both went back to their coffees as a TR25 Caprelli rumbled by on the street. Just what was going on?

Fellow senators of the Imperial Council, i don´t think i need to tell you ablut the situation currently developing in the Generic Empire, now do i?" the Emperor said with a neutral voice, asking the council.

"Sir, intelligence don´t have a clue ablut the reasons for this development. It could all be part of a huge military exersice, or it could be preparations of war.
But the fact that several nations have mobilized their armed forces brings this situation to dangerous levels.. The Imperial Herald answered after a breif moment of scilence.

Then what should we do?. We are hopefully notconcidered hostile to Generic Empire. So there´s no reason for mobilizing the Imperial Armed Forces.
However, i think it would be wise do put the navy on High Alert level.
The Emperor had in effect decided what to do.

After the council-session, he returned to he´s office.
He sat down and started to write message to the Generic Empire;

Dear Leader of Generic Empire.
I, the Emperor of Vestern States, Markander IV, hereby send my whishes that you are not planning for war. Many people would die and suffer in a war of that scale.
Should there be war, Vestern States will support you in any way possible.

Your Majesty, Emperor Markander IV,

The Empire does not fail to see the concern your nation displays over recent activities within Generian borders, nor do we fail to notice the small force of observation currently making way in the direction of the Generian homeland. With regard to the latter, we, the Imperial Government under his infinite grace, the Emperor Kazatmiru I, Sovereign Lord of Generia and Her Dominions, ask that you ensure your units of observation remain outside of Generian territorial waters. We can most firmly assure you that if these units enter Generian waters, they will be engaged and destroyed, something that neither of our nations would like to see happen.

The Empire has had no contact with your nation, and sees no reason why you would be concerned by Generian military affairs. We suggest you put your fears to bed and go on about your affairs.

Most Cordially Yours,
Lord Varus Tiberius Alexei,

Federate Satpul Singh stood in his office as his aids were seated around the circular table. His top military officials had just arrived for a meeting with him on the recent mobilization of allied nations. It wasn't just a minor mobilization, indeed it was a wide-scale massive one. This could only mean one thing: war.

"Gentlemen, as you've seen from recent reports, the militaries of Aralonia, Whyatica, Czardas, Izistan and The Silver Sky have mobilized in massive quantities. The time has come then."

"Sir, we already have our air force units in place and when given the order, they will attack."

"Good, we will soon contact them. The time will come, don't worry. It will come."

The meeting was ended as the commanders left. It was short, but to the point. Major changes were about to happen. The world would never be the same after this.

OFFICIAL IMPERIAL STATEMENT

To the nations of the world,

In light of the mobilization of our sworn brothers, the Generic and Borman Empires, I have ordered the forces of the Imperium to mobilize as well. To those who stand on the sidelines of the world, we swear as men of faith and of honor that we intend no harm to you. To our allies, we similarly swear assistance as far as it is in Imperial power to grant.

His Divine Majesty Sacred Emperor Lucifer

***

The scope of the Sacred Emperor's edict was soon felt. Factories that had lain silent during the truce soon roared into action across the continent; reservists were called up and their re-training begun. War machines, ball bearings, bullets, shells...the armaments rolled out in steadily increasing numbers as more factories went to work. Fleets assembled in the vast harbors of Korronis, and floods of soldiers came as well. High Lord Ishamael had returned from Socal8, his ships' holds filled with plunder and captives from the doomed nation, and with him came hundreds of thousands of troops and countless tanks and aircraft; the Legions had not suffered a single loss in their advance, as the Socalites had barricaded themselves in two remote locations. With the resources of the Imperium assembled on the continent, the preparations intensified.

Something was about to happen. And one way or another, the Imperium would be there.

General Victor Orlov puffed contemplatively on his corncob pipe as he stared out of the rain-lashed windows of his office. On the sixty-sixth floor of Imperial Square One, the largest and most well known building in Freudotopia. Yet another deployment had just come through, his second in only a few short months. As the best and brightest commander in the FIAS, Orlov had come to expect the Emperor’s almost compulsive trust in his abilities. He felt a fierce pride whenever the Emperor saw fit to call on his services, and he understood that wherever he fought, the hopes and will of the Empire were there with him.

An aide knocked twice on the solid oak doors.

“Enter.”

The staff sergeant saluted and held out a thick file of planned troop movements, regiment strengths, tactical projections, and spy satellite images. Orlov took it and broke the “Top Secret–Eyes Only” seal.

As he pored over the file, his aide piped up.

“General, I’ve been on the horn with my opposite numbers in Generia, and quite frankly, some of the information I’ve been getting...”

“Yes?”

“Well, it’s extremely...troubling, sir.”

“How so?”

“It’s just so rapid and so widespread, sir. Generia is calling on a huge number of soldiers and resources, whatever the threat is. We’d be well advised to be prepared for anything, if you ask me.”

“I didn’t, but I do see your point, Sergeant. The mobilization statistics here are just a tad low. Tell General Sinister that I’d feel better if the Fourth, the Sixty-Ninth, the Six-Sixty-Sixth, and the Eighty-Eighth were all put on immediate readiness and reassigned to my personal command. That should be all we need in terms of firepower. I’ll be in touch with the rest of the armed services to coordinate a general bump-up in terms of manpower and other assets.”

“And what should I tell the press, Sir? That Johannes character from the Daily Rag has been hounding me ever since word broke in Generia.”

Orlov nearly choked on a mouthful of hot coffee.

“What did I say to you last time, Perkins?”

“You said to release a general press release stating that nothing was wrong, the whole thing was a test, no mobilization was actually going on, the whole thing was a drill, no official reports had been issued, and the whole thing was just a wargames exercise. Then you said to tell them to mind their own goddamned business, and remind them that there are specifically designated branches of the armed services and Imperial Government whose unhappy task it is to deal with the media. You also advised me to curse at him. That’s all, if memory serves.”

“Bloody well right! And don’t you forget it, Perkins! Dismissed!”

“Very Good, General Orlov.”

Leaning back in his chair, Orlov reflected that his job was not entirely without its light moments.

OFFICIAL IMPERIAL STATEMENT

The Glorious and Enlightened Emperor Saul Hudson wishes it to be Known:

As of now, elements of the Freudotopian Imperial Armed Services have been mobilized to combat ready status. Innocent nations of the world need not tremble in fear, peaceniks need not protest in vain, enemies of the Imperium need not alert their puny armies, and international organizations need not stick their collective noses where they don’t belong. There is nothing for the world to worry about. This is an issue of Freudian sovereignty, and NOTHING ELSE. The August and Supreme Emperor Hudson reminds the leaders of the world that troop mobilization does not necessarily mean anything in the big picture.

"Ah, welcome Andrey, have a seat." said Carpathia Ziemowit, gesturing at a seat near the head of his desk/conference table. "Now, I did not call you all here for a status report, or to issue a minor order or two. We have a situation."

Miroslav noticed Gen. Tilda gulp nervously; there was a minor situation in Le Vide, and the last time there was a "situation," the city of Ville des Lumieres, which was only starting to approach its former vibrancy, was annihilated.

The Arch Arsonist spoke, nearly uninterrupted, for an hour, dropping the names of nations who had business relations; The Space Union, The Silver Sky, Questers; a few who the nation had minor diplomatic relations with in the past; Whyatica, Aralonia, Kregia (though they did not know it); and even a few who they had never even spoke a word too; namely Czardas and The Generic Empire.
"...and that gentlemen and woman, is how we will achieve the dream of our forefathers: another land to call our own."

Adm. Renard broke the stunned silence. "So we are actually going to attack them?"
"Why yes. Yes we are. You have your orders, I suggest carrying them out. An announcement has already been prepared. I have to confer with a few other heads of state, but you all have my number if you need me." replied the Arch Arsonist.
The Chiefs of Staff saluted, and hurried out. All looked ghostly white; millions would die before the year was out.

"Get your asses up, Marines; we got work to do, let's go, go, go!"

His eyes jolted open. The dizzying brightness of the barrack's halogen lighting caused his vision to go haywire for a moment or two, before returning. A booming voice, probably one of his company's NCOs, echoed through the barracks, and the soldier sighed and rolled out of bed, landing semi-perfectly on his feet. He pulled his BDU out from under his bunk, hastily putting it on as the sergeant continued to bark orders to the beleaguered and confused unit. The trooper crashed onto his messy bunk, slipping his work boots on and tying them quickly. He glanced at his watch as he dressed.

No wonder I'm dead tired, its 3:42 in the fucking morning. They'd better have some important shit going down to wake us up at this ungodly hour.

Finishing with his boots, he reached over to the small locker near his bed, pressing in the combination and unlocking it. Reaching inside, he pulled out his trusted AR-59 service rifle, still smudged with dried dirt from the exercises of the night before. Standing the rifle up on the floor, and stood at attention with his fellow Marines until their commanding officer walked in, telling them in a rather vulgar way to get on the parade grounds immediately. In an orderly yet rushed fashion, the hundred odd soldiers in the large building obeyed, shouldering their weapons as they rushed out. Our hero crossed the threshold, feeling the damp air of southern Haven enclose around him. The parade ground was in a state of artificial day with probable hundreds of lights shining down on the hundreds of Marines filling it. Running to his company’s row, the soldier, identified by his name badge and rank stripes as Private First Class Zachariah, stood at attention.

Some minutes later, the Marines, who had been assembled into a battalion sized group of men (about eight hundred men; eight companies), were hushed by the booming voice of an officer. Almost with an eerie unison, the troops saluted the man, who returned the salute before holding up a megaphone. “Good morning Marines, I’m glad you could come on such short notice!” An untrained soldier or a civilian unaccustomed to military life might have chuckled at that, but the seasoned veterans of the Allied Union 9th Marine Division, 3rd Battalion knew better than to laugh in the face of an officer. After a small pause, the man continued. "You fuckers are bit stiff-dicked tonight, but I guess that’s a good thing, Oorah?!"

The return came fiercely and proudly from the assembled Marines.

“Oorah, Sir!”

“Damn well to hear it, boys. Well, I called your lazy asses out of bed, and here’s the sit-rep. At 1:03 AM this morning, the spooks over at the MID confirmed via satellite based intelligence that heavy military mobilization from the Generic Empire and Freudotopia has begun, and that they have confirmed for us, both covertly and publicly, their intention for war with the free world. Allied nations, including that of the Whyatican and Aralonian militaries, have begun to mobilize rapid defense forces to counteract perceived enemy aggression, and we have been called up to join these bastards by the pencil necks over in the V.C. The squids of the 11th NDB have been assigned to ship you apes to the RDZ point, in the Fyre Sea north off the northern coast of the Union. We leave at 8’o’clock tomorrow, if you ain’t ready, your sorry ass is getting’ left behind to have tea with the Skinnies. Oorah?"

“Oorah!”

“That is all. Get your fucking asses back to bed, on the double, Marines!”

In the same orderly, yet chaotic fashion they had entered the parade ground with, the contingent of Marines shuffled back to their respective barracks. They were ordered to sleep in their work clothes and pack before they dozed back off so that they would be able to ship out immediately in a few hours. Zachariah pulled his toiletries and spare BDUs out of his equipment locker beside his bed, throwing its contents into a navy blue duffle bag marked AUMC in bold white letters. Once done, he zipped it up and stowed it under his bed, while removing his boots while keeping the laces knotted and ready to go.

He threw himself on the steely mattress, closing his eyes and soon giving himself the sleep he would desperately need for the forthcoming events.

(OOC: This is just a small sliver of the massed mobilization that the Allied Union is making in coordination with its allies against a possible war. Around twenty divisions around Velkya and her territories have bee activated and readied to go, as have two NDBs (Naval Defense Battlefleets), the 11th in the Southern Haven Control Zone, and the 10th, which has been redirected from operations off Saint Fedski to the RDZ point in the Fyre Sea.)

[Private letter to The Arch Arsonist]

Your Higness, The Arch Arsonist,

I have been informed that your armies have been mobilized for assault on Generia and her allies and I strongly urge you to reconcider. It is not in the best interest of any nation to wage war on another. I beg you to de-mobilize your army and use diplomatic channels to resolve your dispute.

If needed, diplomatic talks can occur in my residence.

Best Regards,
President Stewie

[A private letter to Emperor Kazatmiru I]

Your Highness, Emperor Kazatmiru I,

In the light of the mobilization of Combined Armed forces of Mer des Ennuis for a counter attack, I ask you to de-mobilize your army and ask your allies to do the same. It is not in any nations best interest to wage war on another. I ask you to use diplomatic channels to resolve this dispute.

If needed, diplomatic talks can occur in my residence.

If war does occur I ask for your word that my unit will not be attacked and given a safe passage out.

Best Regards,
President Stewie

RE: [CENSORED BY THE ARCHON HIMSELF, HARUHI DAMN IT]

Stay out of this if you know what's good for you. This can and will get dangerous, and fast. I suggest your nation hide until this is over, unless you really feel like being caught in this crossfire of a battle of titans.

Be very wary - Aralonia herself might not attack you, but I cannot be sure of anyone else in this clash.

[OOC: While I commend you for your attempts to stop this war, unfortunately, we're gonna blow shit up anyways. Sorry, man. I do, however, recognise good RP in you. Keep at it!]

# And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
# And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

[Firehawk Air Force Base]
0730 hrs LIMA

An unusually warm sun blazed through the gray, overcast sky, casting cold, massive shadows on freshly paved tarmac. The innumerable runways were abuzz with activity, shivering bodies hustling to duty stations at a measured, disciplined pace. Firehawk AFB was the largest, most complex foreign base the Tyrandis Imperial Air Force maintained. It housed more than ten regiments of fighters, and with the reactivation of Strategic Air Command in the wake of the ViZionarian conflict, was home to two wings of SB-22 Sariel Advanced Strategic Bombers. Bleary eyed pilots rode in a massive convoy of utility vehicles, which brought them to aircraft, some of which were undergoing final ground checks by diligent maintenance crews. Air traffic control operations were kept in perfect synchronization by ATC-1, an artificial intelligence that was installed in every airbase to make such matters flow more smoothly than the past. With complex, intricate subroutines to counter any contingency, ATC-1 was far superior in its critical functions to the fragile men who predated it.

And it was the voice of this automaton that echoed throughout Firehawk AFB's communications network, issuing unique orders and commands to every one of the legions of soldiers that inhabited the compound. Its booming monotone instructed pilots to their fighters, surveillance personnel to their posts, and maintenance to areas that required their attention. After exactly 122 minutes, 24.8 seconds, the base was prepared for mobilization, just as identical operations were beginning along other Tyrandisan military facilities. As soon as the Autocrat issued secret orders to rebase several thousand units of aircraft due to escalating tensions involving aligned states of the Militaristic Federation, the various ATC-1 programs in control of the enormous task of coordinating the Tyrandisan armed services had sprung to life.

The first to roll down the crowded runways were four SB-22 aircraft, the first four that came off the production line. Each of these were christened with the names of the Biblical bringers of the Apocalypse - Conquest, War, Famine, and Death. Following orders from the ATC-1 the pilots mechanically taxied their sinister craft in position. Upgraded to Block 70/S standard, these were fitted with the most sophisticated technology the Federation possessed, and showed it; their acoustic dampening made their takeoff soundless but for a low rumble the black bodies left in their wake. Laden within their cavernous bays were extra fuel; this was the beginning of a long journey to redeploy at the Tyrandisan mainland for future operations. These four were followed into the skies by the rest of the Sariel force at Firehawk, and would be escorted by a force of TSF-620S Xeon fighter aircraft, which would take off two hours later and intercept them in mid-flight.

Co-Minister John Mannsturnich stood in front of the strongest men in the poor, undeveloped nation of Krusha. "You may have heard about the recent happennings in the world around us." The men nodded. Of course they had. "Well it his fallen upon the 3 co-ministers to take action. We live in dangerous times, and maybe you have guessed why you are here.
"It has been decided by a majority of 64 percent that you men shall become Smusha's first army!" There was a stony silence for an entire 5 seconds, before a man began to clap. A few more joined him, and before long that scattered aplause had become an enourmous cheer.

He left the stage, amongst the cheering. Outwardly confident, but inwardly worried, he reflected upon his situation. There must have been about five hundred men out there. Not nearly enough. Smusha's weaprony consisted of enough AK-47s for each man to have 3 rounds, and 20 missiles in need of repairs. Sighing, he sent messages to all nations apposing Generia.

Re: Annihilation

The fact that my armies are being mobilized in response to the mobilization of the Generic Empire is none of your concern. The people of Mer des Ennuis hold trial by fire in the utmost regard, whether or not those who fight will breathe the air of their homeland once more. There is no honor in cowardiace, though there is equally no honor in stupidity; and we are not being stupid. I suggest you and your fledgling nation look the other way, and observe and learn.

Full mobolisation announced - war on the horizon?
War clouds look dark on the horizon as Sovereign League and CAD mobolise to a backdrop of diplomatic clashes with GASN.

The War Office announced a full mobolisation of the army, navy and flying corps last night in response to CAD and Sovereign League mobolisations worldwide. The Foreign Offices refuses to confirm or deny conflicting allegations that a SL-CAD, SL-GASN, CAD-GASN or CAD vs unaffiliated states war is on the horizon. Little information appears forthcoming, with all government sources claiming that little is known about the causes for Generian mobolisation, but that mobolisation of our own forces will continue abreast to ensure maximum readiness in case of a future global war.

The Territorial Army reserve has been called up and elements of the police called away to undergo standard National Defence Training Sessions pre-empting an automatic draft of the police into the armed forces should a foreign force land on Praetonian soil. Key public buildings and bridges are starting to receive armed sentries and sand-bags are being piled up around key private and public centres

Despite this back-drop of impending world war, the populace appears to be little-bothered. A recent ImpGov poll showed that most people believed little would come of the recent mobolisations, and the pervading attitude seems to be one of resolute indifference.

More startlingly, however, the preparedness rating of the Crown Commonwealth's nuclear deterrent has been moved from 'standard' to 'high' in response to nuclear threats made during the SL-GASN crisis which has begun to abate over the past few days. Whether or not anything will come of this remains to be seen, but in the mean time tens of billions of Praefelis are being spent on gearing up the military to fight a war the likes of which has never been seen before, but which probably will not materialise.

I don't think you quie understand. We have no wishto join any war, but, in the event of an invasion, I want my people to feel secure, in the knowledge that we have strong allies.
In my opinion, the only way to rid my people ofd any danger, is to make sure that the enemy knows that there would be people to help me.
