Never before had such an endeavor been undertaken, in all the grandeur of Megan history. However, that history would choose not record the events that unfolded on the fateful day of this mission, nor the names of the brave souls that sacrificed in order to ensure its success. The near-abyssal scope of this story is one that would remain shrouded in a fog of mysterious untruths for ages, despite having imparted a tremendous impact on the ESUS-GFFA war. Thus, I tell you now a story of courage, a story of valor, a story of cunning, the story of What History Forgot…

Dr. Myers Felda, excerpt from An In-depth Study of Megan Warfare

------------------------------

Defolding in a silhouette-like shimmer of light-blue, the Megan warship completed her conveyance from Protospace to normal space. Traveling in alternate dimensions afforded a warship such grand military advantages, and the Megans utilized this aspect of their fold technology to its fullest. Even now, as over four dozen ships encroached in Solarin space, another fifty-two had gathered likewise as deep inside Abh territory. Theirs was a mission that none others had been chosen to carry out, and carry it out they would.

Her hull pristine and red, glistening against the gleam of a nearby star, she approached her target, along with a fleet of 34 other Megan vessels. She was a Tristar-class command cruiser, the true backbone of the Megan armada. Her target was a Abh trade station that was known handle GFFA shipping. Her message was absolute, an ultimatum given with the utmost sincerity.

Abh trade station, this is the Megan Imperial Cruiser Haydon. Your station is known to process GFFA goods and materials, a practice which is unacceptable. You will now deactivate your defenses, weapons systems, and communication systems and submit to the authority of our boarding parties. This goes for all ships in the vicinity as well. Any attempt to deviate from our instructions from now on will be interpreted as an act of hostility, and you will be promptly destroyed. You have thirty standard seconds to acknowledge.

Meanwhile, another Megan warship, a lone Valivarrre-class, released an FTLi device called “Protoculture webbing”, or “Protoweb”, as the fleet had termed it in slang into the void. This device, while quite variant in it’s exact effects, usually accomplished the same end result, no matter what theater it was deployed in; the complete shutdown of non-Protoculture-based FTL systems. The particular void that was chosen was that of a prominent trade route in Abh space, as well as five other locations equally as prominent. At each intercept point was stationed a Valivarre-class cruiser and two Oberth-classes, TASC was certain this would be more than enough to overcome any escorts the Abh might be using, as they had yet to be struck in the heart like certain others who flew the colors of the GFFA. The Megans would lay in wait for their prey, concealed in the vale of another dimension.

Hyde System:

Considered to have evolved into one of the greater cultural centers within the Empire, the Hyde system was ruled by the prominent count Jinto Lynn Sune Roc Hyde. However, his pressence was not to be found this day nor can he be found at other times. It seems problems in Jurai has taken the majority of his attention.

It was a small blue planet that had a few prominent land masses and cities. Still, militarily there was nothing truly remarkable about it other than it had been conquered by the Abh about thirty years ago. The planet supported an orbiting tower along with a major space port that could contain about a thousand citizens at once. Green luminiscant energy swirled a thousand kilometers out featuring the space-time gates linking the rest of the Empire together not to mention the jump gate a kilometer out from the space port.

Warships of Star Forces were on patrol around the sector since war had come once again and this time it was the ESUS. Patrols had been stepped up as well along with everyone being put on alert. Unfortunatly for the citizens, the system had very little to offer anyone so added forces had not yet arrived from the capitol. But they did at least have a few new defensive platforms to go on.

Dimensional distortions was one thing that could be monitored from the tower and if any commander was wondering if these forces were hostile or not, the message clarified any confusion. The young Abh woman looked down at her console and read over the message as it was translated into Baronh. "So they feel that this is an important trading station for the GFFA? It seems that their intelligence gathering was slightly off in our case but I am willing to bet that there will be other forces more lucky than this one. Rasiel, prepare a communication ship. You leave immediatly for the capitol."

The young Abh pilot walked up to the observation post and snapped a salute. "Da, Cheüass Dralafie."

The commander turned back to her station with that part of the job complete. Now to deal with the barbarians. An analysis crystal would take care of the translation as she spoke into the computers vocal pickup.

This is the orbiting tower overseeing the routines of Martine, the planet behind me. You have indeed entered Abh space which by itself is not a good idea from one that is part of the ESUS. You have also chosen a poor target to effect the GFFA as this system does not house or transport any GFFA goods. Actually you've attacked the wrong nation in any case as this is not a major trader within the GFFA. But, so as to not leave you emptied handed or filling misguided, we will play with you for a time. Just so it can never be said that we were poor hosts.

Commander Rand Folc chuckled to himself. The Abh thought they were really here to disrupt GFFA shipping, and that was fine with him. It would only serve the ESUS war machine more if the Abh were to recognize that the ESUS was encroaching on their territory, and thus be forced to extend their forces even more. If the Abh failed to realize this, well, Folc was sure that they were more intelligent than that.

A single Valivarre-class cruiser approached the station, eventually coming within a few dozen kilometers. Three Horizon-t class dropships disembarked from the docking bay in the cruiser, each carrying two wing mounted bunkers with 30 armed soldiers. Gliding into the station, the Horizon-t's set down relatively easy. The bunkers opened, and the soldiers fanned out, securing a perimeter around the dropships. Folc and his escorts emerged, heading toward the far side of the docking bay and looking for whoever might be there to meet them.

The boldness of the enemy commander was somewhat surprising to say the least but if they wished to be inside the orbiting tower when the garrison forces attacked, then that was their own mistake. A small twisted smile tugged at her red lips and an envoy was sent down to the docking bay to show their new "guests" around.

A small communications shuttle blasted out from the space docks of the space port. The pilot that had just come from the office of Dralafie, was now running a gauntlet towards the space-time gate in the not too far distance. He only hoped that no one would pay him any heed until he plunged into space-time.

Elsewhere in space, garrison forces for the system were already circling back towards to Martine to hem in the raiding forces. Hopefully the ships could get in close enough behind the cruisers and push them into planetary defenses.

Meanwhile a young man, human, was sent down to the docking bay to act as an envoy of sorts where Folc was waiting. His black hair was cropped short and he carried an average aura about him. Absolutly nothing imposing with the young man. Still, no one had to be a great warrior when it came to handling a gun. It had always been said on Earth that all men were not created equal, but Mr. Colt made them equal. His white robes were cut all the way up to his waist in the back with an open front. A bright green under short tucked into white pants with a golden buckle around his waist synching the robes in as well. He bowed slightly when meeting everyone. "Greetings and welcome to the Hyde System as well as the Abh Empire. My name is Percivil. If you will please follow me, I will escort you."

Folc nodded to the man before him. His stature, physique, and features conveyed a young appearance all too well. Folc noted this; he couldn't understand the reasoning behind it, but for now he would go along with the Abh escort.

"I am Commander Rand Folc of the Megan Space Corps. I have a few simple demands to present to your superior; I assume you are taking me to him?" Folc questioned as he followed Percivil, with three heavily armed soldiers tailing them.

"She, will be awaiting for your arrival." The young man lead began leading them out of the bay and up a flight of stairs which took them down another hall though this one was nicely tiled with window views of the planet below and what traffic there would have been had it not been interrupted. Outside the tunnel was the waiting area for departees and those that were arriving, however this area had been brought to a hault with the light amount of people there.

Dralafie was still in the command and control room while Percevil was giving the guests the tour. "Chief, did you already pull your security guards out of the main lobbies?"

"Yes ma'am. I've got them in the armory breaking out weapons and armor. They should be suited up by now and ready to move out."

The Abh waved him over and pulled him in. "Then this is what we're going to do..."

Garrison forces had finally settled into position and on the dark side of the nearest moon of Martine where they would be out of direct detection of sensors and visual sight.
