'Before the war ended, no one on the entire continent paid any attention whatsoever to the massive amounts of Asian refugees coming in through the Northern Regions. every politician and corporation was fixated on the war in the West, because that was where their votes and profits lay.
Of course, that was before the war ended. The war is over now, and only now are we opening our eyes to the refugee crisis in our lands, combined with the Kazach* refugees displaced by the war, and the economic troubles plaguing the heartland, I fear for this country, for it is a giant tinderbox, in a forest in which two warring factions share...'

*OOC: The Kazach's are an ethnic group in the West of my country, and have no relation to the nation of Kazachstan.
Present Day
Illibad, on the border between the Province of Tylian and Special Refugee Region of Daijima
It was a clear, sunny day; and surprisingly warm for a city so far entrenched in the Northern Regions. There was going to be no snow today, and it looked as if the bay was warming up, as some of the ice was melting. Global warming at its finest.
Illibad was a city/military base on the northern coast, split in two halves, seperated by a concrete barrier surrounded by land mines and patrolled by snipers. This was how it was, life on the border. Between the province of Tylian and the Special Refugee Region of Daijima...

For Sergeant Shinji Kazama, it was another long, dull, boring day. There was more to do while the ship was out at sea than when the ship was docked, there was nothing to do in Illibad, ever. Besides the bar in town...
Maybe him and Corporal Mizuki Inaba could head down there tonight and enjoy themselves while the ship was moured...
Later that Night

Break in shift between patrols
Okay. Maybe he had a tad bit too much to drink, but no one besides high clearence people ever got a glimpse of Daijima. There was a twenty minute break in the patrol shifts, each break changing every day of the year, it just so happened that just as Shinji and Mizuki left the bar...the shift guards were beginning to head to their barracks...
Inside Daijima was a hellhole. Illibad had houses with white, powdery smoke pouring out of chimneys. This place had dense, black smoke coming from dumpsters and oil barrels, dozens of people with barely any clothes on them were huddling around a man, bathed in crimson robes, preaching in a foreign languages, with several crates behind him.
"H-hey, zyu tha'!" shouted Shinji in his drunken voice. All he remembered were the dozens of people looking at him, and before he blacked out, he heard the preacher say one last thing in his language, before pointing to the crates, and pulling out several black cylinders out.
The Belkan Herald
Front Page
WAR DECLARED! REFUGEE TENSIONS AMOUNT IN BLOODBATH! - This was the cover story for the Belkan Herald, a newspaper based in New Hivez, the capital. The Herald reported that two VN naval officers, both unnamed, had ventured into Daijima and were fired upon, unprovoked by the refugees. How they acquired the weapons was unknown, but the Herald only said that, while both officers survived, the refugees killed several hundred residents of Illibad before they stopped their assault...
Murska Times
Front Page
LIBERATION SOON! AGGRESSORS PAY WITH THEIR LIVES! - Now this was the cover story for the Murska Times, a newspaper based in Murska, the capital of Daijima. The MT reported that the border guards fired into a crowd of unarmed refugees, thus forcing the remaining refugees to retaliate against the Illibad garrison...

Both sides tell a different story, but the outcome was the same. A state of war was now in effect betweent the Vuhifellian Federation and Daijima. The Vuhifellian campaign was named "Operatrion: Ölrún", it's primary objectives, put down the revolt in Daijima, and restore order among the refugees.
The refugee war was roughly named 'War of Liberation against Vuhifellian Aggressors', as the refugees had to work with many different East Asian languages, most of them only understood that they were are war...
