The Serene Republic of Grande Turquesa Isla, is a relatively new nation of the world. Although our land has been settled for a while, we've only began to grow, and become a free indepent nation. We are seeking freinds, allies, trade partners, and military equipment.
Fact Book
Granade Turquesa Isla is a rather small nation still, just growing and having indpendence for a short time. It's name is a combonation of Spanish and Portoguese Langauge, meaning Grand Turquoise Island. It's largely Spanish and Portoguese population, dubbed it this because of it's turquoise waters, even though it's not tropical.
History
The land was setteld in the 70's, as a Satalite to the Spanish Armada's of the world. Mostly routeen military exercises occured there. It wasn't really settled untill the mid-1990's. However with restrictions in place, it was like being under a military dictatorship. Famlies we're allowed one male child, and only one. Thoes with females we're deported, or discharged even. This is why the poulation has never grown massively.
About 1998 a group got together to start a revolution and gain indpendence. It was a group of all civilians, with little to no training, many women, and discharged soliders. The revolution was a long but mostly-peacefull one, usually with mass demonstrations. These demonstrations were often broken up with non-lethal weapons, but some injuries did result.
The revolution was put on hold in 1999 as a Catagory 5 hurricane struck the island, killing hundreds. After the peices we're picked up, things resumed, and Independence was finally granted in 2000.
Geography
Granade Turquesa Isla, is an island very flat, but very pretty. There are no dense junggles or swamps, small forests, and many farms. Most major cities are in the east and southeast, and smaller towns in the west and along the southwest.
Climate
The climate is rather hot and wet in the summer. Mild and sometimes cold in the winters. The average Summer temp is a 102, and average winter is 58-62 The coldest on record was just last Febuary with a low of 33.
Rain is more common in summer than winter. However Summer Thunderstorms are usually very violent, especially at sea.
Tornados are very rare. You are more likely to be struck by lightning than see a tornado. Although waterspouts occure at open water often, people seldom see twisters. But rain and floods are very common
Culture
The Culture is a rich one, with a lot of tradition, and festivity. Food fairs, music fests, people love to have a good time with anything.
Most famlies are from both Spanish and Portoguese backgrounds. While there are just one or the others, most are mixed. But people seldom mind, there is rarely any culture clashing, as many already share the nation's culture.
The biggest Religion is Catholcism. 67% of people are Catholic. 10% are Chrisitan and Prodestant, and 5% are Mormon or some other faith. Although Church and State are tried to be kept respectfually seperate, it does tend to bleed regardless. Some call this defacto enforced moralism, and a default theocratic nation. But The Government tries not to. People have Freedom of Religion regardless, and the Government tries it's best not to ever abridge this right, but it has had problems.
Movies are the biggest form of entertaiment. There are many popular films, and the global Blockbuster Gisela is expected to open soon. It is sure to hit close to home with it's largely latin cast. But many domestic films are just as popular as well.
Education is mandated untill 17 years of age. Most schools will shorten to half-a-day when farms begin harvest. Some schools are uniformed, but most are not.

Prime Minister Maricruze Rodriguze is 22 years old, hailing from a long tradition family that has been in the service, she wasn't the most popular pick. She won by a meer two votes. But she promises to be a fair and just person. She is working on some of the laws, new and old, and is working to begin more internaitonal realtions. She comes from both a Spanish and Portoguese family, and is a benvolent person. She's agressive if her ideas are challanged, or in a debate.
