The Wraith Hivefleet
29-08-2006, 16:01
The Four prisoners had been kept on board the massive Hive Ship for days now, betrayed by their own people, given over to their hated enemies for study, for experiments...Eventually they would be fed upon. The Wraith had probed their minds, violated their bodies, all in the hope of gleaning from them the secrets of their DNA, and the key to Alteran technology. While the Gate Builders had anticipated this as a methodology to defeating the false Alterans of Seaquest, the queen had regarded the situation as being more...Pliant.
Soon her scientists will have unlocked the secrets of the Lantean's technology; and when they came forth to present the fruits of their labour...They would take what was rightfully theirs...The Spoils of Victory. Too long had they waited for this moment, too long to utterly wipe out the Lanteans and seize dominion over the Stars. To feed at will, at on whims. To expand. She had already sent out the call, the clarion echo for all to come to her. Seven other hives had responded, and informed her that they would hear her announcement...
She let her hand tease across the bare chest of the Senator, teasing her nails over the flesh. Life pulsed within, thrumming and hissing. Ready to be consumed.
"You have served us well...But the time of your race is at an end. We shall inherit these new stars. We shall taste the fruits of our victory...We shall dominate."
"No..."
"Yes...." Her voice was a soft hiss. "There is nothing left to do with your kind...But to feed. We shall keep some of you alive, but merely to perpetuate our invention. That which will confer to us all that you possess..."

OOC: I'll go for this. Seems like an interesting idea at least.
Deep Space Patrol Group... in real terms, you're not looking at much. A single Venator-class Star Destroyer, with full fighter and clone complement, with two accompanying Acclamator-class battleships, and their clone contingents. A sizeable force, and quite powerful when it was needed to be so.
Atop the large control tower that protuded from the stern of the Librian vessel, Jedi Knight Serpah Tallia looked out into the starfield. He was clothed in the traditional Jedi garb of light brown and neutral colours, his hood down to expose his black hair, cropped close to the scalp, to anybody who cared to look. Beside him stood another human, this one dressed in a plain black uniform, different to all the grey of those who crewed the ship. This second man stood with his arms hung loosely by his sides, a sharp contrast to his companion who had clasped his forearms behind his back. The second man was the first to break the silence,"Quiet."
"It is never quiet. The Force is always talking."
"Hmm. Speak for yourself, but I find it quiet."
"You are not a Jedi."
"You're right, I'm a Cleric. Much preferred, thank you very much."
"We are not so different."
"No? You use the Force, and a lightsaber to get the job done. I use handguns, with much similar effects."
"A Cleric has never yet defeated a Jedi in single combat."
"Never had cause to. One would hope our two organisations would never reach the stage that..."
Their conversation was cut short by a hurried looking clone officer who approached them at the moment,"Sirs, we have detected something that we do not recognise on long range sensors."
The two men turned to look at the newcomer, with the Jedi asking the question that first came to mind,"When was this detected?"
"Just now."
"Set a course, Captain. Inform the other two ships, and prepare to jump to hyperspace."
"Yes, sir."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sometime later
The three ships jumped into the system, their hyperdrive systems being supplanted by traditional ion drives. Still standing, still looking, the Jedi and the Cleric watched as they saw the eight Wraith Hiveships hanging there,"Ever seen anything like this?"
"Never. And I have served on many worlds."
"Hmm... they look pretty dangerous. Captain, order all batteries to prepare for possible conflict."
As the Captain issued commands, Seraph Tallia turned to his opposite,"Cleric Hanson, how do you presume that we could fight against overwhelming odds?"
"With the greatest respect, better to be prudent. We don't know their intentions. Massing eight ships..."
"... is no more an aggressive action than deploying one survey vessel. I do see your point, however."
"Prepare boarding teams?"
"Indeed, and command the LAAT pilots to be ready to move at a moments notice. If we must, we will broadside what we can... but the heavy turbolasers can surely outrange these enemies. They are powerful."
"Will you be accompanying any force?"
"You will lead the initial wave should it be required. I will follow, once more if required."
As Cleric Hanson vanished to inform the clone troops, Knight Tallia motioned to the communications officer to open a hailing frequency,"This is Jedi Knight Seraph Tallia, onboard the Librian vessel Integrity. We detected you, and decided to investigate. Please respond."
Squadron # 76(all i can spare) was scouting the region when 8 large ships were detected on long range sensors.
"Commodore, I have eight large ships on long range scanners."
Commodore Johnson replied," Send a frigate to check it out."
"Yes, Sir."
The Firgate Gettysburg made a quick jump to the location of the hiveships.
"Hive ships." Captian Andrews muttered after seeing the vessals on the screen. "Scan them."
"Scanning now sir." A few minutes later,"One of the ships has several Lanteans on board."
"I thought that they had been wiped out." Said Captian Andrews."
"Apperently not.We can't take on eight hive ships on our own sir."
"Your right, get the rest of the squadron in here."
The Sqaudron jumped in and started to take up a postion to attack the hive ships.

The Wraith Hivefleet
29-08-2006, 18:06
One of the immense vessels began a slow descent, moving to within the comforting bounds of the worlds atmosphere, descending slowly towards the surface of the planet, large enough to seemingly dwarf one continent. The rest of the vessels turned, sensors regarding the ships that had just moved in-system. Only a select few of them had even bothered to initialise diplomatic relations. How...Amusing.
There were, at present, 8 queens in the one location, with the Queen who had brought them here descending towards the world with the precious cargo. The majority were now in discussion, sharing their subconcious psychic network, communicating across the distance between them.
A message was sent out.
This world is claimed by the Wraith, as bastion and feeding ground. We claim this as our territory, as the first of many worlds. You will tell us why you have come, and we shall spare you, assuming you do not further trespass. We would know what race you are. Lantean? Human? Some nameless bastard cattle of the stars?
We are humans, We have detected Lanteans on your ship. We want them.
Lord Atum
29-08-2006, 18:33
Vernet watched the hive ships from the window of the tel’tak class cargo vessel. It had been there for some time, masking its hyperspace dropout as Lord Atum had instructed, by emerging in an area of relative mass shadow, and cloaking immediately on doing so. It seemed things were livening up, which bode well, he was getting bored, stuck in the flight chamber of the vessel with a pair of jaffa warriors who looked well enough, but whom he was certain were no match for anything much; say, a stiff breeze.
He had a small ‘volcume’ style holoprojector with him, though he’d been unable to activate it. It was to be given to his captors, should he be detected. Presumably, some kind of measure to gain him safe passage back to the domain of Atum. His orders, should anyone turn up to attack the Wraith was to see how they preformed, and follow them in hyperspace if they were forced to retreat. If they were wiped out, they would be of no use to his master. If they triumphed, then they were an interesting prospect. And if there was no violence…
Then Vernet wouldn’t have much of a show.
A curt and belligerant message was intercepted by the tel’tak and the goa’uld smiled. It appeared he would get a show.
OOC: Yay. Wraithies. Wraith are neat, and should be encouraged. And fed. Yes, fed. I have many plans for feeding of wraith…Though, how many are there in-character? I’m assuming it’s rather less than are suggested by the gamestats (or those hives are going to be real-cramped) – I’d count both the wraith themselves and their cattle in that…
The Wraith Hivefleet

You may detect all you wish, you may indeed want all you wish. But you shall not have them. Had you been paying attention you would note that we currently possess four
The Queen finished her feeding, nails piercing the Lanteans skin, feeding hungrily as her palm pulsed against his chest. She could feel his life draining through her palm, teasing through her form, each fibre of her being alive with the quenching of hunger.
One of the lights on the foreign vessels would doubtlessly flicker out.
Pardon us, Three. Three precious Lanteans with which to grasp the future. I trust, as a human, you can understand the nature of finite resources, and being finite in yourselves. Brief lives, punctuated by combat, vain notions of glory that shall fade with time and age. We have a legacy to ensure. We have an enemy to vanquish.
"Open fire on the nearest Hive."
200 heavy turbolaser bolts shot toward the closest hive, while 120 cap ship proton torpedoes with 100 gigaton warhads raced toward the next closest hive.
"Let's see them survive that.

Shields flared as energy and projectiles smashed towardsone of the immense Wraith ships, detonating in plumes of incandescent energy as the onslaught began. MAny impacted upon the hull, searing organic material, twisting and maiming the very fabric of the Hive ship.
Yet still, it did not falter, and the Wraith chose to show the petty race who had come amongst them, these whimpering Cattle, why they had made a mistake. They had concentrated their fire.
Darts poured forth in an almost liquid swarm from the mighty hiveships, even as their own weapons, each of the seven ships adding their formidible might towards the main vessels of the enemy. The thousands of Darts moved with nimble speed through the blackness of space, readying their own weapons as the hives let their wrath pour forth.
They would blight these pitiful insects...
And then they would feed.
The Posleen Hosts
29-08-2006, 20:38
OOC: I eat people too! Go team!
IC: Nar'a'thas was not a happy Posleen.
His life had all been going very well. The commander of a sub-globe in the host Tulo'sten'aloor, he had been on the verge of breaking into the industrial heartland of the "USA" as the humans called it, the core of one of... he shuddered at the name of the thrice-damned place... Earth's landmasses and the largest bastion of resistance. But then their Fistnal Fleet had arrived to relieve them and he had been reduced to barely an oolt, roaming desperately through the system in search of a FTL capable ship to carry him to safety.
But now, life was looking up. He had regained command of a sub-globe, one of the infinitely superior new models, and been given independance to scout out worlds for the main force, a much sought-after role, as it meant the pick of a worlds booty.
He felt a strange tingling sensation, a signal that his ship had reached the end of the hyperspacial corridor it was traversing, and ordered the computer to bring up the bridge displays and wake the crew from cold sleep, rumaging in his bags for some strips of dried thresh.
"My lord, sensor readings indicate eight large space-faring thresh and a total of twenty-three ships not entirely unlike those of the human threshkeen. One planet of this system appears to be life-supporting, and a star-thresh is hanging over it."
One of the upsides of the new computers was that they addressed you properly. And understood need-to-know, could operate the entire ship in a pinch... much as they hated to admit it, the Posleen were very much dependant on there AI.
"Move towards the world. Wake the oolt'os. Destroy all opposition!"
"Your wish."
LibriaXI
29-08-2006, 23:25
As the first shots were fired, the mood aboard the Librian ships went from a state of high tension to near-breaking point. Although they were not being fired on, it seemed as if it would only be a matter of time.
As the seemingly never-ending stream of turbolaser fire streaked towards the Wraith hiveships, Seraph Tallia shook his head, already knowing the outcome. Indeed, his vision came to pass. Whilst the damage was done, it was miniscule in terms of what could have been achieved,"Captain."
"Yes, sir?"
"Launch fighters as a screen... I suspect these newcomers have stirred a proverbial hornet's nest."
"And the other ships?"
"Minimise all target silhouettes by keeping us facing towards the enemy. Instruct the heavy turbolaser crews to set appropiate power levels for engaging the larger capital ships, and prepare point defence weapons for possible fighter attack."
"Yes sir."
As the Captain strode away, Tallia closed his eyes, reaching through the Force to attempt to predict the enemies next move. Whilst he could not practice Battle Meditation, which would have been a useful skill at this point, he could sense things to come. And things did not bode well for those in this fight.
The five hundred metre long dorsal hanger bay slowly began to grind open, the heavy SPHA turbolaser arming itself for defence if it was needed. A Venator-class Star Destroyer was designed for fighter carrying, and had a complement of almost five hundred sublight fighters. Clone pilots raced to their ships, be they ARC-170's, Eta-2's or even V-Wing bombers, readying their systems. Astromech droids of various series were plugged into their sockets, ready to help those who needed it. Along the port side of the starship, the hanger bay opened, shields holding the atmosphere. Within sat LAAT/i's sat ready for combat, their clone troops holed up inside. Onboard the second one was Cleric Hanson, who checked his firearms and placed them back inside his jacket. He was ready, if needed, to fight. And a Cleric was a difficult man to kill.
The PD cannons of the fleet started to fire at the incoming darts.
One of the Devastor was taking heavy fire but it keped firing at the nearest hive.
"We must keep firing! We out number them. Have the ships out flank them."
The ships moved into a large U formation, with the Devastors at each end. The ships moved so that they envolped the Hives.
By this time 2,500 heavy turbolaser bolts had been shot at the closest hive. In addition, 600 heavy proton torpedoes had been fired towards the next closed hive.

The Benjamin Franklin was considered to be the plushest job in the entire navy. As the diplomatic vessel to 1010102, they spent most of their time in a geosynchronis orbit over their embassy, should the need to evacuate ever arise. Now that 1010102 was going into a skirmish against an unknown force, they had orders to go and observe, and to assist if necessary.
"Well, order everyone back aboard ship, and let's get out of here."
Men were teleported up from bars and clubs all across the city, where they had been on shore leave. USD's covering their tab was teleported down, to prevent any bad blood towards the ship.
Once everyone was a board, they fired up their tesseract generators and made their way to the wraith world.
Seconds later, they appeared via their characteristic yellow-green explosion.
"This is the Benjamin Franklin, ordered here to observe the forces of 1010102. Should the need arise, we shall enter on their side of this conflict."

"Quantum tunnelers recharged, lord."
The bridge had come alive: in battle, skilled kessentai operated the ships to provide a thinking brain for the machine, ant to direct the repair parties of Coslain, oolt'os who were merely moronic, not dumb animals, as all Oolt'os would only answer to their "god", the Kesentai currently controlling them.
"Excellent. Fade in on the side of the planet away from the star-thresh."
Throughout the operation, the posleen had not once communicated: in their opinion, there was them, the Po'oslen'ar, the People of the Ships and chosen of the Alll'nt, and there was the rest of the universe, a semi-intelligent mobile larder which occasionaly stung a bit and ha to be put down.
The ships performed a manouvre which, while seeming, at least initially, like a typical FTL bunnyhop to an eyeball observer, would appear most curious to a watcher using drive signature detectors: around two-hundred drives simultaneously activated within the hull of the sub-globe, and as one entity, they vanished into whatever realm the Posleen tunneled. Then it got interesting for all parties: on the other side of the planet, two-hundred very small ships faded in as individuals, and eac of them in turn split into twelve miniscule trapezoid boats and a slightly larger dodecahdronal ship.
Then as one, they plummeted towards the planet.
Lord Atum
30-08-2006, 12:26
Vernet frowned as he watched the engagement. One thought ran through his tiny snakey brain. Where were the cruisers? Lord Atum had provided some intelligence on this race, knowledge he had gained during his ‘ascension’ one could only presume. It was curious and even worrying that this snakehead hadn’t seen any. Yet. Fighters, seemed available in great numbers, and there were numerous massive hive-ships estimated to be equivalent in offensive capacity to ha’taks, but less well defended, Hive Ships were quite potent, but large numbers of smaller, dedicated warships were more threatening.
"let's scan the surface, if there are any signs of organised religion. Especially Christians, TLO would be very mad at us if we didn't."

The captain's eye's widened, as he called out, "Get as many of those people off the planet as you can. Look and see if you can't find a way around their shields and load a cluster of our neutron mines in each ship."
"Sir, our Neutron bombs might be able to get through anyways."
"Good, tesseract our mines to a location in front iof their ships."

In space, a Jumper left the shuttle bay, and tesseracted to a position just in front of the vessels, dropping two neutron bombs in front of each.

OOC: a little info on the Tesseract Jumper. It is an unmaned bomblayer, designed to jump in front f ship and drop it's load of mines, then tesseract away. It is little more then a tesseract sled with a single, basic HDLT, and nav comp with twenty neutron mines located inside. A good EMP burst timed to go off as it opens the tesseract will disable it, causing a fifty percent chance that it will not re-exit the quantum foam, but rather move on to another universe, making it lost till a 'Verse ship can be sent to retreive it.

Darts that were critically injured, dove through the blackness, detonating their self-destructs as they slammed into the enemy vessels, ensuring a punch even in death.
One of the Hiveships began to falter, explosions rocking its hull as it slowly tore itself apart, rent by forces beyond its control. The remaining six ships continued to fire, no longer concerned with the enemy or its scale, concerned only with vengeance, with survival. The ships furthest from the enemy began to move back, ever so slightly, inching towards the world.

The Benjamin Franklin used it's phaser banks as point defense weapons, protecting themselves from the enemy darts. Few got through, but they did very little damage. In response, the Sovereign fired photon torpedoes at the Wraith vessels.
The Tesseract Jumper returned, reloaded, and set out again, dropping even more of it's Neutron Mines in the path of the Wraith vessels.
More importantly though, the people who were saved where quickly loaded into a growing succession of shuttles, as they where ferried back to New Shiloh, where they would join the Evacuation Fleet.
