The Kingdom of norway suggests that the games be closed to belligerents, while being held in a location further away from the war. Norway further suggests that to repay Sweden for the loss of the games in 1912, they should take place in Sweden in 1916.

The Olympics are a sign of peace and good will despite wars. IN the days gone by, the atheletes of Athens and Sparta played despite the war between them. To say that athletes from belligerants can not play is to deny the very reason that the Olympics were created in the first place.

I want to ask you,how can a nation join the NSOC?

This is an E20 Roleplay, only recognised e20 nations can join the E20 IOC and we are using Real World nations back in the early 1900's not actual NS Nations. Though there is an NSOC, the only question is when will the next olympics be held.

The Olympics are a sign of peace and good will despite wars. IN the days gone by, the atheletes of Athens and Sparta played despite the war between them. To say that athletes from belligerants can not play is to deny the very reason that the Olympics were created in the first place.

The nations of Athens and Sparta never engaged in wars of the scale of our modern age, never put their populations in the firing range as has been seen by Russian attacks on shipping and German attacks on Petrograd, never used the level of rhetoric employed by the Russians in opposition to the Germans. The Olympics was created in a far more, for lack of a better term, chivalrous time period and Norway most certainly does not feel that with current methods and actions it is at all possible to emulate the Greeks, however noble that goal might be.

Norway fears that, should Russians and Germans stand oppposite each other on the field of sport while their nations stand apart on the field of war, emotions will almost certainly run high and destroy the very goals taht you claim as the reason for the Olympics- peace and good will. The Games will become nothing more than a piece of propaganda for the victorious side. The sole remaining option is to cancel the Olympics. And, for an event as momentous as the Olympics, that is no choice at all, especially when only a small number of nations are at war. Were the war to spread, Norway would strongly urge cancellation, but for the conflict as it stands now Norway feels that the Olympic Games should go on, sans belligerents.
Sukiaida
25-10-2006, 07:56
If the fear of propoganda is to hold back the peaceful sports, then it is in the best interest to cancel the Olympics. For nations supportive of one side or the other, yet not currently fighting, may use propoganda to bolster there side as ready as any belligerant power. ANd if you kick out every nation putting propoganda to their uses, then you will be left with very few countries indeed.

ANd if you believe Sparta and Athens were more chivilrous, then someone should pick up a history book. Genocide, and putting civilians into forced labor in the Spartan Army or Athenian Navy, as well as using disease as a weapons against Civilian populaces. And yet they still sent atheletes. (Seriously some of the things the Spartans did were only mimicked by the WWI powers deep into the war.)

The Next Olympic Games are Scheduled for 1916 in Stockholm, Sweden and may be a very much needed relief from the events that hindered London in 1912. The IOC would like to send an apology to the City of London for the people of London desired better than the dramatic misuse of humanity and tools that the governments had intended for their selfish and misguided ways of handing the security of their own nations even if they were well intended...
