The treaty was short. Victoria Sheshet knew it. But she knew that it didn't have to contain anything more – the mutual understanding with the Californians had been long and full, and Senate loved this short treaty – for what it would mean to the Allanean people.

It ran, as follows:



1. The United States of Allanea will pay California and Alaska 50 billion Universal Standard Dollars

2. California and Alaska will cede to the United States of Allanea it's non-Earth territories.

Acting President Jennifer A. Jourgensen sighed... she knew that this had to happen, she couldn't govern two nations at once... especially with another version of her own nation being in another Earth-like dimension. She grabbed the pen and signed her signature slowly and deliberately and pushed the treaty across the table in a mixture of resignation and happiness. To her it felt like having a tremendous weight lifted from her.
