The Tocrowkian Navy is hereby releasing information on it's new Submarine killing system for both an ego-boost and in hopes of deterrence against possible surprise submarine attacks by unfriendly nations. The Squid-class is the most unique asset in the Tocrowkian Navy, and perhaps one of the most unique in the entire world. The Defense ministry also approved foreign sales of this fearsome device to "trust worthy" nations.

Species: Giant Squid
Method of control: Neural implants, which are linked to a ships computer system, which in turn allows the crew to control the animal.
Length: 13 meters
Armament: Ten tentacles, a beak. Can be have an explosive device surgically implanted for "suicide" attacks.
Purpose: The Squid-class' primary purpose is to track down enemy submarines with their senses, which are naturally equipped for guidance and finding prey in deep waters. Upon finding an enemy submarine, the Squid is then ordered to try it's best to tear apart or disable the enemy submarine with their tentacles. How ever, if they are unable to the crew can usually fall back on the high-explosives surgically implanted in the animal to destroy the enemy submarine with that method.
Cost 200$ Million per unit.

What if say the transmission between the ship and the squid are broken (perhaps by someone jamming it)... what would the squid do?

[RA2 anyone?]

How would it fare against a whale? A dinosaur? What about some unholy combination of the two?

Whales are not a threat to the Squid-class. And Dinosaurs are extinct, silly.

We are interested in this technology, what is the life span of the squid? As 200 million is a heftly price for a cephalopod with bombs connected to it. How is this squid any better then just training any regular old squid to attack a sub with bombs attached to it?

Around twenty years or so. As for the "Regular old squid" remark, Giant Squid are not dogs or cats. They cannot be easy domesticated, if at all.

OOC : Yea , too much RA2 or Yuri's Revenge . Anyways I still prefer the good old SBNs . Or isit SSBNs? Anyways I still think odinary sub killers would do as they are far much cheaper by comparison of tech level , armor and weapons . Some Sub Killers also have Nuclear Depth Charges which would kill an entire such squid class submarine killers .

((OOC: Meh. I still use conventional ASW methods, torpedoes, missiles and what not. This is just a fun alternative/addition to those forces.))
