Yeah, it sounds like a film, right?

I've noticed that there is always lots of military action going on, and diplomacy... but I don't see many crime threads. Doesn't mean to say that they don't exist, but just that I haven't seen them. Irregardless, I plan on starting on assuming I have interested parties.

Alright, basic premise: We have a team of criminals, drawn from various nations. The current list stands at:

VICTIM: Seaquest 2032

Synopsis
A criminal element have decided to target the Central Reserve of a specific nation. Not only does this central reserve fulfill the role of National Bank, but it as a repository(sp?) for items of National Security. However, this doesn't phase them really, as they are determined. Estimated payout per person is roughly 10-15 million USD each, however this is deemed a low estimate.

The group is well-organised, drawn from many different backgrounds, with their specific skills working towards a common goal. However, whilst they are united in achieving their aim, each has their agenda in this. Hence, some of them don't trust certain others.

Limitations
No nation can control more than two members of the team, except for those choosing to play as Enforcers, who may take all four. (One Enforcer = 1/2 of another character. Sorry to all those who think this is unfair, but an Enforcer has a straightforward job. However, you'll find those with the most skill playing them, as they are the hardest to play. I'll be really interested to see what people do with them.)

The victim nation is free to apply levels of security appropiate to the location.

EDIT: Due to DMG's concerns, I've gone ahead and given a brief outline of what each character would be doing. Of course, I've put small hints in that allow you to expand your character beyond his/her original profile.

Job Description
Whilst all members will be taking part in the heist, each has a specific role to play at the critical time.

Group Leader: Simple really. Plans the job, distributes the wealth, etc.

Pilot/Driver: Depends on what timeframe we put this in as to how to goes, but their job is as the getaway. Seems a small role, but it is almost definatley going to be more expansive than people realise.

Hacker: Computer expert. Says it all really. Multiple uses throughout.

Demolitionist: Required to have good knowledge of basic explosive techniques. Anyone needs any brushing up, come to me, I know a few simple methods to help you.

Supplier: A key man. Not only does he get the weapons, explosives, vehicles, and so forth, but he also obtains blueprints, and other such items, all to make their job easier. Of course, this may require some smaller, quieter, robberies of City Hall...

Enforcers: The heavy men. When push comes to shove, they will be responsible for neutralising any security personnel. Most likely to be ex-military in nature. They may have their own agenda, however...

Inside Man: Works with the Supplier on some aspects, but is also key in getting information that could make or break the heist. Such information includes shift times, routes of patrols, and so forth.

Alright, so, who would be interested in doing this with me?

This could be interesting. I have only two concerns: 1) An RP with 11 people on it seems like it will be hard pressed to keep together. Whether that means continuity or simply keeping all 11 people in the RP; 2) It seems like a few of the characters will be having small parts in which they will be involved one moment and then not needed for weeks in RL time. This could cause people to lose interest and drop out.

That being said, IF I do join, it will most likely be as a Supplier. However, I must know first whether he will be in the RP for about half a second when he shows up with the guns and shit, or whether he will be joining in the actual raid. (This is the problem I was talking about in #2, however it is bigger for characters like the driver/pilot who would have to stay in the car (as that is what their job is or else they are useless)).

Can I be the hacker? D:

DMG, I understand your concerns. However, you know my style is more towards character roleplay, and always has been. In any case, I may alter it so that people may take two to three roles... but there can only be a single victim nation. I may take that myself, but that remains to be seen.

With that in mind, I think I will open up the rules slightly.

No, he'll get play. Trust me, we're not jumping straight into the job. There is always character building, getting the crew together... it takes time.

Like I said, everyone can have their own reasons for joining this. I'm waiting to hear from a friend of mine who I approached with the original idea, see if they are still in. Once I know, I'll let you guys know, and we can get down to planning characters.

What I meant by victim was a different character than my enforcer. Maybe a bank owner in my country or something. My character would be different from the guy or guys getting robbed, if it's alright with you.

That is fair, although it is up to SE since it is RP.

You know, it would help if most of you can remember a few aspects:

1) Don't push me. I do have to sleep, and I also have to work. I will update the register, and see who we've got. If there are people left over, I will either create new roles, or will be forced to turn you away.

2) NO hijacking. It's beginning to occur, and I don't want it. Simple as. You want to chat about Tarantino, and argue the finer points of his film-making, that's fine, but go to general, or use MSN, AOL, or whatever IM service you use. To finish that topic - All his films (and the last episode of CSI Series 5) are excellent.

Having served his National Service in the Intelligence Corps, he knew how to do the job better than most. Even before his release, he was looking for a big score. I may arrange so some met in the joint (prison - best to start using a little bit of criminal slang, helps the transition to IC), but then they recruit the rest outside. Not sure yet, we'll have to see.

I'll post the character stuff for my big characters later. However, I felt that I should let you guys know that I give my consent for you to RP with my cannon fodder characters as you wish. However, I do request you ask me first if its in regards to something big and I will be RPing with my main characters (like the Sheriff, for example).

Oh, and another thing, you never know if you can find a corrupt local official willing to take a nominal bribe for either looking the other way, creating a window of oppurtunity(sp?), creating a diversion, taking a blind eye, making things easier for the Inside Man/Woman, multiple combinations of the previous (along with some unmentioned) options, until you try RPing finding out IC'ly.

Just so you guys know, I'll be drawing on all the bank jobs I remember from movies and TV, plus a little custom stuff, to make things as interesting as I can.

I just got word from Rotten bacon - his internet is playing up, and it looks like he might be up to a week getting it back together. So, the choices are: Wait for him, or find a new inside man, and start without him.

I personally think that the fact he made the effort to get in contact with me and tell me what was going on means he wants to do this, and thus we wait for him. Anybody want to argue to the opposite?

OH, and for all future reference: Tech Level = MT. Means we don't have to stoop to arguing about different FT universes and their techs.

I've no problem with that so long as this keeps together.

However, I must warn you that in about two weeks time I will be having less time on NS (due to school, sports, and work).

Sorry about that, but my internet decided that it didn't want to play for a while. I've got it fixed now.

As it stands, we've lost DMG, which is a shame, and I've heard nothing from Blackhelm or Rotten bacon in a while. I'll take a look around, see what I can find out.

Idea: Does it have to be a bank job? Why not make it about robbing a private citizen (like most of the good movies, IMHO, about thieves are about)? That would make it easier for me, character wise.

You could have DMG's role, as he's dropped out, but I've yet to edit it. Please read the first post for more details.

This ought to be fun. Now, in regards to the tech level, what part of the MT (to PMT ?) should I look at? This will also help in character design for me.

Alright, here's how it's going to go. As soon as Osteia posts his character, using the form in the first page, I'll establish the IC thread. SQ will take a private citizen within his nation, but it will be MT. Bear in mind, nothing that happens in this RP will affect your regular nations.

Once the IC thread is going, we'll gradually introduce everyone, and start 'planning' as it were. Anybody who is missing, I'll take control of that character... I think it's only Blackhelm, but I may be wrong.
