We will welcome your staff with open arms.

As for the threat of Sistan, we are not afraid of anything. The Embassy Staff and our guards will stay in Baku whatever will happen. If Sistan does anything stupid (for example they attack the embassy or staffmembers) it will result in an all out war against Sistan by Warta Endor and her allies.

ps. if things really get hot, remember Warta Endor is a friend, and we are always happy to help friends...

-To Foreign Minister Albert Stropka-

Emergency contact between our two nations has resulted in our sending of an entire battlegroup to aid in your defence. As such, we find it prudent to remain in constant contact. Therefore, we humbly request that we begin an Embassy in your Capital, and invite you to do the same in ours. We would also like to station a platoon of our own Military Poliece in the Embassy for security, and we offer you our entire Military Poliece force of 200,000 men to partol your capital for the duration of the war.

We can also offer your nation 100,000 AK-47's, ready made for our TO's, that can be shipped immediately.

We agree to the exchange of Embassies. We are in desperate need of friends in this hostile world. We also accept your 100,000 AK-47s. They can be put to good use in the Reserves. Your entire Police force is alittle much though. 200,000 to patrol the city during the war? It's almost too much. We would gladly accept 50,000 or so troops to patrol during the war, but 200,000 is too much. It would be almost too easy for you to stage a coup. Pardon my harshness in saying that. We just don't trust something such as our capitol to other people very lightly.

We also await the arrival of your Battlegroup.

Project “Due Course”

Project “Due Course” has been shrouded in secrecy ever since its rumors were first heard by the world. Speculation abounded as to what the UCR could be doing that was so big and yet was so small that no one could figure it out. But it is after many months that the UCR is proud to finally reveal the truth behind Project “Due Course”.

The Truth:

Project “Due Course” is a collaborative effort undertaken by the Governments of the UCR and UARCA to build a canal across the Caucasus. It would be the longest man-made Canal and waterway in the history of humankind. The total distance for the canal is somewhere in the range of 460 Miles, though the final numbers will not be known until the end of the project due to land conditions along the route. This plan was designed to link the Caspian, and its valuable Oil and Natural Gas resources, to the rest of the world.

Planning:

The “Due Course” Project began back near the tail end of Operation: Thunder Strike. An influx of impoverished people came from the south to try to find jobs in the more industrialized north. Here, they found very little work for them and most of them were forced to steal and rob for their food or money. The Government of the UCR found this most disturbing. It needed a way to relieve its nation of these problems. Many ideas were researched, but the Government decided to settle on Project “Due Course” due to its very large nature and scale. The President quotes “That is was something to show the world that the UCR isn’t a pushover country”. Initial plans were drawn up and some early models were shown, but it was all put on hold for Operation: Lightning Bolt.

After Operation: Lightning Bolt the UCR government began to work Project “Due Course” again. Revisions were made and a good portion of the former idea was revised to make it more efficient or better suited for its goal. It was soon very apparent that the project would be very expensive. The only options available were to: A) Give Up. B) Get Help. C) Try and do it themselves. The UCR decided to call on their new friend across Caspian, the UARCA. The UARCA was more then glad to help and provided engineers, money, and even equipment for the project. With their help, the project finally took shape.

Implementation:

UCR and UARCA engineers with dredging equipment will begin at the port city of Neftcala, on the Caspian Sea coastline. They will begin by widening the opening of the Kura river there and deepening the cities’ harbor. From there, they will begin a slow crawl up the Kura River as the dredge the river and widen it to allow for Oil Tankers and other large ships to be able to pass through it. They will keep on doing this until they reach the Mingacevir Reservoir. In the reservoir they will deepen it and add a harbor to the city of Mingacevir.

After the Reservoir they will begin to dredge the river again. They will soon enter the Republic of Georgia (Note in the UCR all States are called Republics, just clearing that up). The dredging operation will go very close to the city of Tbilisi, once the operation is near the city they will add an Artificial Harbor to the city to allow ships to refuel and rest in Tbilisi. A series of locks will be added at Tbilisi, to enable to continued use of hydroelectric stations along the Kura that power the city of Tbilisi and, to a large extent, the rest of Georgia. From Tbilisi, they will continue to dredge till they reach the city of Khashuri. This will be the point that the operation will leave the Kura River and begin to build a canal towards the Rioni River. The operation will enter that river somewhere between the cities of Kutaisi and Samtredia. Once they are on the river they will do as they did with the Kura, dredging until they reach the port city of Poiti on Black Sea coast. There they will expand the harbor to allow it to hold the amount of traffic it will be expected to see.

After the all that is done, final preparations will begin and engineering teams will sent to points along the canal to watch over it. From here they will give the canal one final assessment and check for both the continued sanctity of the passage and the environmental impact of the project. Once the all clear is given, the canal will be opened to the public. No major environmental impacts are expected, though the reinforcing of certain lengths of the rivers that the route runs along will be necessary to prevent any harm from the new access to the Black Sea. Steps will be taken to ensure that no foreign flora or fauna will intrude on the Caspian and the water levels of both bodies of water will be strictly monitored as the project is underway to verify that no net loss (or gain) results from the project.

The President is....

The Winner of the heated presidential race was decided today. Early favorite Horus Langley was nowhere to be found when people went to the voting stations around the UCR today, with his two counter-parts taking almost 98% of the vote. This obviously means a shift in power away from the current Party in Power. Next year's Parliamentary Elections could enforce this.

Now, to the real reason you're reading this. The winner of the Election was none other then Sevan Naveed. He is known as a firm Liberal and says he will enact economic and educational reforms while he is power. The UCR Capitalizt Party, the one he belongs to, see this as a coup for them. They are usually the third rung in most races.

The voting indicated that Sevan won by a slim majority. Sevan held 51% of the vote, while his opponents together held 49%, with 2% belonging to Horus Langley. Most of the Southern Republics voted in favor of Sevan, whilst the northern ones voted for Stamatios Yiannis. Horus received a majority only in Yerevan, in the Armenian Republic.

Sevan will be sworn in next month, the current government is doing all it can in it's final month, whilst preparing the groundwork for the new one.
