Director of Intelligence E. Coli and Liaison Officer Vezu Josif Antonije Milan Bratislav Petrović were waiting in the conference room to meet with the Vineyardian representative Vladimir Šeks at the Hyatt Regency Belgrade in Beograd. E. Coli knew the situation at hand well, which is why he was present even though he normally would not be present in diplomatic exchanges.

Mr Vladimir Šeks got out of his Limo, running a hand casually through his disheveled hair, nodding at his bodyguards who flanked him. He then, with Bodyguards in tow, entered the regency. Within a minute, he found himself in the conference room.

E. Coli knew that the Vineyardians would bring some muscle with them. Consequently, he not only had arranged for hotel security to protect the outside of the conference room, but also had Serbian secret agents arrange to take the place of all the hotel service personnel.

He greeted the Croat, "Greetings, Balkan friend! Лепа реч и гвоздена врата отвара!"

OOC: The proverb was "A kind word opens even the iron doors."

Mr Vladimir Šeks sneered. "Alas, as true as that may be, some peoples choose to utilize not their tounges but their arms to open doors. Only, in this case, the gate keepers have a mind to shut their gates to such a peoples as you. For good. Why shouldn't they do that, and more, seeing how am former neighbor and friend tried to force their way past such doors?"

Luckily E. Coli had researched proverbs with Srecko the evening prior. He replied, "Nevertheless, Balkan friend, there is an old Croatian proverb: "Prvo skoči pa reci: 'hop'!" In other words, one shall do one's task, and talk about it later. Our soldiers did exactly that... their task. But they were led by a fool! We found out that General Jovanović was actually not himself, but an imposter! This imposter was someone named Slobodan Milošević. He wanted to conquer all of Croatia for fun!"

"We find it to be a near impossibility to even imagine that he acted without the government's knowladge and support. Surely there are officers loyal to your government in your army! And what about your Intellegence agencies? And Logistics! How could have he gotten tanks, airplanes, APCs, even troops out of the Barracks and even to the border, let along the front, without logistics being supplied by your nation??" Mr Vladimir Šeks said in a near fit of rage. His body guards looked edgy, almoast as if they were preparing to defend from a sudden attack on Mr. Vladimir Šeks. Vladimir took a long drag on his mineral water before continuing.

"By God, we can, and should, invade Great Romeo for such atrocities. However, we are willing to accept a peace if, and only if, Montenegro be handed over to us, as well as all soldiers, officers, and leaders who participated in the invasion be promptly handed over to us. We don't want any of their hardware, and we expect them to be handed over to us in cuffs." Mr. Vladimir Šeks leaded back, and narrowed his eyes at his counterpart.

"But there was more to this, my Balkan friend. Momčilo Krajišnik, a FORMER high commander in our military, secured the military and logistics sector. He falsified records showing support of the governmental officials to obtain the soldiers and logistics. Dragomir Milošević, a FORMER high-ranking man in my agency, made sure the intelligence of the operation did not reach the proper people."

Mr. Vladimir Šeks scoffed."It seems unlikly that they could have operated without the support of their inferiors, but very well. We will have them instead of the invading army. However, we do still demand Montenegro."

"Very well, my Balkan friend. Momčilo Krajišnik, Dragomir Milošević, and Slobodan Milošević will be arrested by my agency and transferred to the custody of the Croats. Moreover, we will cede Montenegro to the Croats, as a sign of our reconciliation for the trouble caused by these rogues.

However, we ask for friendly relations. In specific, we are interesting in creating what Senator Srecko calls the Balkan Steel (BS) alliance between us. The Balkans must stand united against foreign devils. As the old Croatian proverb goes, 'nesreća nikad ne dolazi sama.' ('a disaster never comes alone')."

Mr. Vladimir Šeks let loose a small smile. "Very well, we have an agreement. You will hand over the prisioners, then we will enter the BS pa..." He never got to finish the sentence. The bodyguard to his left, a middle eastern man, had pulled out his Beretta PX4 Storm pistol, stood up, and shot Mr. Vladimir Šeks twice in the chest. The Middle eastern bodyguard shouted "Allah Ackbah!" beofre being shot dozens of times by the other bodyguard. Mr. Vladimir Šeks lay on the floor, clutching his chest as blood seeped out from the 2 holes in his chest. The Remaining Bodyguard, being a veteren of the Army, instinctivly looked up and shouted "MEDIC!!"

E. Coli was rather stuned by this turn of events. Why did all conferences with Vineyardians involved people getting shot or beat up?

Yet, as a seasoned intelligence officer, he responded immediately. "GET THE WHOLE BUILDING SEALED OFF! NOW!" he yelled to hotel security. Meanwhile the Serbians secret agents disguised as janitors and waiters, but really packing AK-107s, went into action. While Liaison Officer Vezu Josif Antonije Milan Bratislav Petrović calmly explained to the bodyguard that Vladimir Šeks would be carried by out by security on a stretcher without his body itself being moved at all to avoid further injury to a Serbian national guard Mil Mi-8, and transported to the Military Medical Academy for treatment. He also gave the address, Crnotravska 17, and telephone numbers, 661-122 and 662-755.
