Corruption in the Senate?
Imperial Aaronia
22-08-2006, 19:08
Goodevening Ladies and Gentlemen and welcome to IATV news: Eye on the Palais.
It would seem that after winning his recent election to be the new President of Imperial Aaronia and her Empire, Lord Xenrat Tyran has been voted out of office and demoted to the position of Vice-President by the Senate on a vote ration of 175-125.
Many of the voters have now put in applications for Madame Bianco , as well as as many as 7 other ex-presidents to resuem their roles.
No official staements have been made though it is rumoured that the Senate may be in dispute for longer than we thaught.
Ambassador Oupal Javar is looking for countries in the International community to mediate the discussion and conferences.

It has come to the attention of the Lorrian Confederation that this situation may escalate, and we offer your nation an impartial venue for mediation talks, in hope of resolving this issue without violence.
We have also briefed our allies on this situation, should the need arise to call on foreign nations for intervention assistance in order to ensure that should the situation deteriorate, it will be possible to maintain law and order while a solution is reached. We ourselves do not have the military forces available to assist in external operations, but should your country so request them, they will be available via other allied nations.
We look forward to responses from the recognized government of your country, as well as representatives of factions with grievances. Should you decide on accepting our offer of assistance, the honorable James Halstead, Lorrian liaison to the Allied Nations of the World regional office, will be assigned immediately to this task as head of the mediation group.

Colonel Jericho McNight leaned back slowly in his chair and prepared to read the email just printed from his secure TILMILNET email account. It was a message from his commanding officer, Generalmajor Hansen. Jericho scoured his desk, searching hard for his reading glasses. He finally found them under a heavy stack of papers, slightly bent but unbroken. he played with them a bit before he finally put them on and read:
Jer,
The old man wants your outfit keyed up and ready to deploy in 24 hours. From what I've been told by the general, the foreign office is getting antsy about a situation developing in Imperial Aaronia... Something about elections there going sour. In any event, get your boys ready to go in case the call comes for us to deploy. In all, we'll have your 4th Legion and the Carrack Guard ready should something go wrong. I'll be in overall command, but you'll be the senior officer on the ground if the balloon goes up.
We both know the Foreign Legion is stretched, so if things get dicey we'll give the army a call. Hopefully it won't be that kind of situation.
Jack
"Stretched isn't the word." Jericho thought to himself. The Tilsitsinian Foreign Legion Army was a rough and touch outfit, but there were only little more than 150,000 troops in it. It may seem like a lot, but it isn't once you send 50,000 here or 25,000 there enough times.
Since the 'Legion' is the go-to force for international crisis where Tilsitsin is concerned, there never seems enough to go around.
Jericho snapped up his desk phone in one hand and quickly dialed his XO with the other. "David? Recall the company and battalion commanders immediately, and have the sergeant-major issue code white recall for all 7,500 enlisted. I want the unit commanders in my office in one hour."
After hanging up the phone, Jericho sat there still for a moment before jumping up and walking to the door, putting on and buttoning his tunic as he went. As he walked by the adjutant's desk, he glanced over to the young sergeant who hurriedly stood at attention. "I'm headed to corps map section, I'll be back in 20 minutes." As the sergeant saluted, the colonel was already out the door and on his way.
He didn't remember any contingency plans for Aaronia, so he would need some maps and graphics to get oriented and start planning. His staff was good though, so he didn't worry much. But he knew that it pays to have a leg up on everyone else and be prepared.
"Now hopefully we have those maps..."

Its capitol is in the same place as the Liore Valley and the other two "capitol regions" are Goonatileke (Bretagne) and Tzerakis (Normandy). Hope that helps!" >>

Ambassador Oupal Javar,
It is the will of the Tilsitsinian King himself and the Prime Minister that Tilsitsin not be involved directly in these mediation talks. We have been made aware by the Lorrian foreign office that the honorable James Halstead, Lorrian liaison to the Allied Nations of the World regional office, will be representing all outside nations in mediating these talks. Tilsitsin will be providing an armed protective escort for Mr. Halstead, but otherwise we will not directly participate in the talks.
Tilsitsin seeks to provide 'teeth' to any settlement by making available military forces that will help ensure peace before, during and after a political settlement is made, should they be necessary at all. Already, over 12,000 of our finest troops and over 50 ships and 200 aircraft stand immediately ready should the need for them materialize.
Yours,
His Excellency Ryan Godfrey of Hellena

Captain Alan Davis was the recruiting poster image of the Tilsitsinian officer corps. Tall at over six feet, athletic and muscular with short cropped brown hair and hazel eyes, he was an imposing man to have stand in front of you. but he didn't just look the part- He was also a seasoned officer, commanding troops in no less than four seperate combat situations as a foreign legion officer. (Tilsitsin's foreign legionaires may be from other countries, but it's officers are entirely Tilsitsinian) Recently promoted to Captain, he now commanded 'Bravo' company of Lt.Col Harry Bouillard's 2nd Battalion, 4th Legion. 4th Legion was in turn part of the 2nd Foreign Legion Corps, which was given the name 'panthers' by the King himself as a token of gratitude for their past performance.
Alan had just finished a briefing involving all of the 4th Legion's staff officers, and was stopped by his C.O. as he prepared to leave the briefing room.
"Alan, wait a minute. Colonel McNight and I need to have a word with you." Alan sensed something odd, and it made him a bit uneasy. "Yes sir, not a problem."
They walked up to the Colonel, who was talking to two junior officers with a firm tone and a beet red face. "This damn business is going to drive me crazy, Bill. just get it done!" Colonel McNight noticed the two officers approaching him, and quickly located a single paper folded shut in thirds. As the captain approached him, he handed the paper to Alan. "Read this son, and I'll explain."
Alan unfolded the paper open and read:
Captain Davis,
Colonel Mcnight and General Hansen assure me that you are up to the task of what may prove to be a challenging mission. We look to you now to conduct yourself with the upmost professionalism and skill, as I am sure you will.
You have the thanks of many nations with you.
Crown Prince Ulex
Alan was puzzled. "Confused yet?" The colonel began. "You've been chosen to directly lead a squad that will be the personal escort of the ambassador I was talking about during the briefing." Alan was proud, but going into such an uncertain situation with only a squad...
"Lt.Col. Bouillard has been fully briefed on your mission and will give you the specifics. Other than that, you'll need to hand pick your best squad and get em ready to hop on the bird to Aaronia. The Lorrian ambassador is enroute here as we speak."
Alan exchanged a few short words with Colonel McNight before saluting and departing with LTC Bouillard for the battalion barracks. Time was short, and he had a lot to do to get ready for the mission.

"Mr. Halstead, do you need an airsickness bag?" The Tilsitsinian crewchief asked. "No, thank you. I'll... Be fine." James Halstead was legendary throughout the Lorrian Territories as one of the key players during the process of unifying the independent Lorrian states, and his intestinal fortutude was equally famous. Getting sick on aircraft flights was another matter entirely that he seemed to be unable to cope with...
This had been a long and bumpy flight already, and though the Tilsitsinian transport was comfortable (by military standards), he was in fact quite uncomfortable and sick. Less than three hours ago, the newly-appointed 'Special International Ambassador and Arbiter for Imperial Aaronian Election Issues' was on another aircraft, headed for Tilsitsin. Now though, it was just adding insult to injury.
An on-the-bounce Tilsitsinian officer had given the ambassador a military briefing a short while ago, and now the ambassador was busy poring over political documents pertaining to the issue. The ambassador stopped reading after a short while, and wrote a letter asking all Aaronian parties involved to remain calm and to try their best to diffuse tensions until he arrived to mediate the issue in a few hours. He then penned a second letter directly to Mr. Javar, asking if in his estimation peacekeeping troops were immediately necessary to preserve order.
"Captain, I need your help." The officer walked over to the ambassador carefully, noting the near-constant turbulence. "Yes sir?" "Can you have these sent to the appropriate parties before we arrive?" The officer nodded and took the papers. "I'll see to it personally."
Maybe now he could rest a bit before arriving in Imperial Aaronia.

"Yes of course, and thank him for all that he has done, however the troopps are really nothing that the Imperial Guard cannot handle. Thank you. Goodbye!" Oupal Put the phone down and continued digging into Aaronia's past Elections records, the more he read the more it confused him.
Baron Aaron, one of the most respected and powerful men on the planet, abdicating for no reason, then Madame Bianco, the most populor Lady in Aaronia, voted out? and now, Tyran is being disputed, why?
There were rumours flying everywhere. Some claimed that Baron Aaron was forced out. Others claimed Madame Bianco was in a secret society designed to hold the senate in confusion, and some claimed that Tyran was a mass murderer, each cock-and-bull story as riddiculous as the last.
Then why did he find each liue, so true?

Mister Acting President, the delgates have arrived, the Opening talks are about the conmmence.
Oupal prepared himeself, out of the window he saw Baron Aaron in his Blood Red robes and Bianco in her matching Purple ones. He himself had selected Aaronian Dazaki War robes for the occation, his were of emerald green, the colour of the ancient spys and sneaks.
