Projects Under Development

Engine tests being conducted for the FFB-124 project.

Project F/TN-FB-124 (Future Fighter-Bomber 124, or FFB-124)

The "FFB-124" project is currently being developed as a testbed aircraft that will serve as the developmental type program for an actual production combat aircraft.

The goal is to develop a future-generation multirole combat aircraft that incorporates both new and emerging technologies into a platform capable of replacing several current Tilsitsinian weapons systems such as the Su-47 Berkhut, Tornado GR-1, and "Fox" Stealth fighterbomber with a single airframe. The main feature of the airframe design is the variable forward-swept wing (VFSW), which exploits the dual benefits of maneuverability at forward sweep, and substantially increased maximum speed at back sweep. Controlled thrust vectoring technology also ensures vastly superior handling and maneuver, and secondary scramjet engine technology allows the aircraft to fly at hypersonic speeds.

The resulting aircaft will be formidable indeed, able to maneuver with the most agile fighters in today's arsenal, while also able to fly at speeds that far exceed current conventional limitations.

Current Development Stage: [8-22] Initial Draft Design.

Vehicles

L-4A 'Landshark' Advanced MBT

The L-4A represents the next great leap forward in armored warfare technology. The L-4 is based on the new Liahona "F" series common armored chassis, incorporating several exciting features. The first production variant to use the F series chassis, the L-4A, is being produced as the successor to current modern MBTs, and offers several features that not only enhance survivability and maneouverability, but also provide a substantially increased level of lethality.

The vehicle is crewed by two personnel, a driver and vehicle commander. The commander has the ability to directly control and direct the vehicle's weapons, but normally this is handled by the vehicle's TPM-5-C Fire Control and System Integration Computer. The vehicle commander is no longer restricted to supervising a crew, but instead he is freed to monitor and direct his vehicle in battle and ensure it's integration into the total unit via 3 displays that provide vehicle, unit and target information.

Here are some of the impressive features of this new vehicle:

Crew: 2 (driver, commander)
Powerplant: Liahona BVM-SX-44-N turbine, producing 1,140 lbst
Chassis composition: Composite mesh with ceramic overlay
Armor type: Advanced composite layer with integral ERA functionality

*Vehicle also features our patented advanced visual concealment system, called the "Jasper-Type Visual Concealment Package".

http://www.star.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/projects/MEDIA/xv/images/oc2-s.jpg
Demonstration of the Jasper technology in action

This includes a layer of combination fiber-optic/liquid crystal over the exterior armor which actively blends the vehicle in with it's surroundings, although in a fluid manner which also further aids in hampering recognition. The system is layered on the armor in replaceable panels, making maintenance of the camoflage system simple.

Main Weapon: 120mm smoothbore cannon, capable of firing DU, HE and HVKAT rounds
Secondary Weapons: 1- KK-43N short range ATGM, 2- KORNET-E ATGM
Coaxial weapon: M-240C MMG
Defensive systems: 6- turret-mounted smoke dispensers, 3- vehicle mounted flare launchers, turret-mounted Magnetic Missile Displacement System (MMDS). The MMDS is capable of directing a small magnetic field 360 degrees in all directions that is 91% effective at thwarting missile hits against the vehicle. The system can currently only target one projectile at a time, but an improved version is planned.

Range: 392 miles
Maximum speed: 49mph
Weight: 29 tons

Cost per unit: $27 million per vehicle

L-540 "Pursuit Gun"

The L-540 is essentially a high-speed assault gun, capable of great bursts of speed in open terrain. While this is a turretless design with a limited frontal main gun arc, this handicap is offset by the 360 degree positionable KORNET ATGM mounted on a semi-retractable launcher on top of the vehicle, which is mounted with it's own coaxial M-240C machinegun. Entirely air-transportable and highly lethal.. The L-540.

Vehicle Characteristics:
Length: 19.4 feet
Width: 8.9 feet
Height: 6.2 feet
Weight: 16 tons
Speed: 66 miles per hour (maximum, short-burst) 52mph sustained
Powerplant: Liahona TY-32-M turbine
Range: 258 miles (462 miles with external tanks fitted)
Crew: 3 (driver, gunner/loader, commander
Armament:
Primary: 85-mm high-velocity gun system, 1: KORNET-E ATGM
Secondary: M-240C machine gun

SRMAMS ATGM Suite
This ATGM system represents a clear leap in ATGM technology. Short Range Medium Attack Missile System is controlled via a ruggedized field laptop, with the firer/controller able to track and engage up to three targets simultaneously via up to five pre-placed, wireless interface automatic launchers. Another soldier has use of the sensor base unit and optics, which identifies and processes target information for use by the controller/firer. Once an observer identifies a target with the optics/sensor suite, it is then handed off to the processing system for tracking. Each launcher can be placed up to 230 meters from the base station and still be 100% effective.

The entire system, or "suite" ships with one base station control unit, one sensor base unit and 3 reuseable launcher units, each containing one KK-43N ATGM. The system is designed to be man-portable and can be moved by a squad of troops, but the system can easily be converted for vehicle mounted applications.

Features of the missile
*Guidance system: Wire
*Round Type: HEAT
*Ease of Use: Launchers are aimed vertically, avoiding need to pre-plan fires or redeploy during combat.
*Missile Min/Max Range: 225m/1900m
*Penetration: 1,100mm and one layer of ERA

Cost for suite (Including control and sensor stations, 3 launchers and 3 missiles): $170,000
Cost for additional launcher (no missile): $4,000
Cost for additional missile: $22,000

Operational Laser Defense System (OLDS)
Another product initiated by a multinational research coalition headed by Liahona engineers, this project has resulted in a viable air defense option and excellent alternative to current missile and firearm-based air defense weapons defense systems.

Each OLDS "system" comprises 5 vehicle-mounted laser units, as well as a primary and secondary command & power station. Each OLDS system can cover a large geographical area, as the maximum effective range of the laser weapon is 3.4 kilometers.

The system offers a highly reliable defense solution against the following threats:
-Direct Fire Rockets
-Indirect Fire Short/Medium Range Rockets
-ATGMs
-Aircraft delivered rocket and missile munitions

System Cost for the vehicle mounted control & power vehicles and five laser vehicles is $1.4 billion.
