After a closed debate currently confine in red tape government officials have declared that the nation will gradually switch to ethanol. "It just makes sense", says a government spokesman. "Ethanol is cleaner, renewable, cheaper, it's what's best for our people right now". Plans for how the nation will be slowly eased into ethanol, but are expected shortly. Meanwhil oil companies have been in an uproar, saying that without their oil drilling Kubra is nothing. They have been told they can continue drilling oil for the time being until there is enough ethanol for all of the nation but when the time comes they will only be able to sell overseas. Most oil companies are considering packing up, hich would leave the remains of Kubras oil fields in a questionable stance. How will this effect the nation? Only time will tell.

you want biodiseal. its so much better than ethanol. however, good luck making enough biomass to fuel your entire nation. Oh, we already have large sugar cane operations. I'm sure they won't mind selling fuel instead of sugar, at least most of them.

IC: The mercenary brigade hit the beach, and the units began rolling forwards towards the oil fields. The infantry were all safely tucked away, 5 in a Mercury, and surrounded by the rest of the tanks. They would soon be upon the oil fields, and sooner still upon enemy forces.

"We should start looking for other employment", said a guard to his partner. "may as well get a job on a sugar cane plantation, thats our only alternative if you think about it."

"I have enough money, may as well go to college" said the companion. I think I'll become a military officer, good pay".

"Heard you get to keep the shit confiscated from the soldiers".

"Heh, could make a pretty penny selling the stuff". Faintly they could hear vehicles at work, but didn't think much of it.

Quickly, the Behemoths opened up on the security point ahead of them. The rest of the vehicles gunned it towards the enemy troops, eager for a fight. Last minute checks were conducted. Weapons were checked for their safety's, Mercury gunners loaded the guns and popped out of the top hatch to man the top machine gun. Leopard gunners picked their targets.

"Holy shit" exclaimed the 1st guard. He pulled his companion down to the ground. "we're screwed, brutally screwed".

The second guard took a napkin from his pocket and waved it vigorously above his head, siganlling surrender.

OOC: Don't worry, you'll experience combat yet. They'll (they meaning the oil company who controls the portion of land, which is far from the main drilling operations) notice a loss of contact and send a force to investigate.

The brigade continued on its way to the oil field. A helicopter was sent to pick up the POW's and bring them to a carrier off shore, to transport them the The Husk.

"Strange", muttered a man at the main office. "No reply from drill number 94, guards must have gone AWOL, better sned in scouts". Then he adressed the microphone near him to asemble a scouting squad.

A jeep carrying 6 men (1 sniper, 1 spotter, 1 driver, the rest riflemen) drove through the flat plains towards the drill, they had been told contact had been lost. They were ordered that if they were to find any of the employees awol they were to take them back for trial. The sniper looked thorugh his scope, peering all around the landscape as the drill came into view his face went pale. In the distance he could see military vehicles, they did not wear the insignia of Kubran armed forces.

The minister of agriculture slammed into the brick wall, held there by a man smoking a cigar. "Now I'm only going to say this once", he said. "During the appeal tomorrow you better spout some crap about the switch damaging crop production or some other shit, if you don't..." He held a knife to the ministers throat. "You know what'll happen". He forced the Minister of Agriculture away, tossing him at his car. The minister with, a horrified look in his face, got in his car and drove away at a speed well above the limit.

4 Mercury's zipped ahead of the group, as a picket of sorts. The rest of the division rumbled along behind them, ready for Kubran forces to appear.

"shit", muttered the sniper. "Call HQ, looks like Griffencrest wants a piece of our action". The one in the passengers seat fumbled with the jeeps radio while the driver turned the jeep around, ready to high tail it out of there. "But befoe we go...." The sniper adjusted his scope while the spotter advised him. Holding his breath, the sniper took 1 shot at a soldier.

The soldier dropped. Seeing the jeep fleeing, the Mercury's gunned it. They wanted revenge, The AFV's sped at nearly 70 miles per hour to catch the jeep, the whole time machine guns blazing. Behind them, the rest of the division sped to keep up with the picket.

It was hopeless to begin with, a jeep with afew men versus heavily armed fighting vehicles was just hopeless. If a man didn;t die form the bullets he died form the explosion when a bullet tore through the gas tank, turning the jeep into a flaming wreck, devoid of live. However, the deed was done and the message was sent. Back at the HQ building various employeeese wwere strapping on bandoliers and grabbing guns, jumping into military vehicles acquired through the black market (BMP-1s and T-72s). Warring between the kubran oil companie was common, so they naturally had to be equipped for any attacks made by competitors. the private military spending budge was low compared to that of the K7ubran military, so they had to make due with ak-101s, rpg-7s, and various other relatively outdated weaponry.

The Griffincrest troops were now spoiling to fight. So far all they had to do was capture a few moron guards and blow up a jeep. They continued driving towards the next oil rig, hoping this time they would see some real action.
