The man poured the vodka into the shot glass and tossed it down.

"They're going to trace it, you know."

"I know that. You know that. Everyone involved knows that Smith. We all knew going in that that was the deal. Is everything ready?"

"Yeah. There's only one door to the basement, and that's guarded. This place was designed to stand up to artillery shelling. Unless they drop a bunker buster on us, we should be safe. For a while anyways."

"If you're having second thoughts about this..."

"No. No. I'm commited to this. You know that. Hell, I wrote half the damn thing. What would it look like if I backed out now?"

"All right. Let's do this."

An e-mail was sent out to be read by any who cared to. It read...

This will be kept brief to try and avoid it being traced. In short, we
are looking for a publishing firm that does not fear shadowy reprisals by the
government of New Aeson. We want this firm to publish our book, the title of
which is The Not So Holy Church- Or One Hundred Arguments for Aesonic
Anarchy detailing corruption in the Holy Church which doubles as the
governing body. As soon as you reply to full text will be e-mailed to you to
distribute as you see fit. We seek no payment, beyond a guarentee that it
will be distributed.

"Well I'd say that looks like the better offer, by just a bit," said Smith sardonically.

The man with the laptop, who had sent the e-mail glanced up. "We're traced."

"Call!"

"Sir, you'd better look at this."

"Ah, hell no. Alright, men, I'm enacting code Zero-Zero-Five. Storm the area. Take them down. Don't bother taking prisoners."

((Mind if I have a Black Ops team stationed in New Aeson rescue them? If you don't, then...))

"Also, be aware that there is a team inbound to escort you into the Enlightened Empire."

OOC: They can try...

IC: "It's sent. We've won. They also said that there going to send an escort..."

"Won't do any good," said Smith, picking up an AK-47 and pointing at the screen of his laptop. "They're here."

The above ground entrance to the complex was unguarded. One of the men put his foot in a bear trap and had to be taken off by another man, leaving only twenty-four, but that was it.

The door to the underground complex was locked. It was also built to withstand any assault short of a direct artilerry strike. Fortunately, the Shadowmen had the access codes. Unfortunately, they had been changed. A hacker was brought up from behind the lines, and went to work.

((OOC:Not really sure of the terrain surrounding the bunker, but I'm envisioning it as being surrounded by brush/trees. If not, tell me and I'll rewrite it.))

Unit 01 needed only to think to transmit his message to the rest of his team.
"Split up. Three teams of five."

They moved silently in their black combat suits. They were the best of the best in the Imperial Army. They had no unit name, nor individual names. They were Quietmen.

As his men moved into posistion, 01 counted. Twenty-four men, versus fifteen Quietmen. It seemed fair, reasonable. Aiming his own weapon at the back of the techie at the door, he waited for Unit 15 to give his confirmation.

"I'm in posistion."

With that, he gave the order, and the trees exploded with gunfire.

The techie went down, and the others spun around, raising their weapons and firing. One of them shouted into a radio, "We're under fire, requesting reinforcements!"

Throughout the woods, Shadowmen recieved the signal. A full five Shadowmen teams, sixty-five elite special operation personnel rose from the Shadows and waited tensely for the go sign.

OOC: This is really important to certain parts of the government.

Unit 01 ordered his men to press in on the Shadowmen, and to drop as many as they could. He also contacted HQ, warning them that defeat was likely.

The men fought valiently; Retreat, or surrender were fates worse than death for the Quietmen.

And so they fought. And so they died.
