Archon Andurus Strahan sat at a desk deep in the core of the Ash'rily Den City, the center and capital of Starenell. He opened a Connection window (Web browser) and looked for a map. It was wonderfully detailed, showing even individual buildings in the cities of Starenell, but it was incomplete. It was centered on Ash'rily, and went outward, showing Fontan, and Akesh, and large villages in the Twin Fields but somewhere, in every direction, whether next to a mountain range, jungle, The Wall, a chasm, or a river, it stopped. These were the borders of Starenell, and beyond them was unknown. None had ever even gone there, much less returned. He didn't like that. He spoke to a nearby aide. "Get me Nawat Crowe." "Yessir".
Five hours later, a man dressed in the grey camo of the military, and shoulder guards of the the special ops stood in front of Andurus, at parade rest. He spoke "So, why am I away from my unit?". Andurus smiled at the insolence, few would talk to an Archon that way. "I want you, to make contact with whoever else is here with us in this land. Beyond the borders of Starenell. Chose your best teams, and have them go out. Make peaceful contact with whomever you meet, try to send communications to the rest of the world.
OOC: I need someone to make first contact with. Starenell would probably want to have a very close alliance with them, so preferably someone I recognize or know, and who would be willing to roleplay some aspects of that out. From then on it works like a normal intro thread. Making ocntacts, all that.

In one week, the forces were ready. Five groups of twenty men, each group with enough supplies for a month in their vehicles, and the training to survive without supplies for years. Then, they left.
All groups stayed in constant contact with eachother and Starenell. The pressed onward, and were surpised to note the lack of agressivly dangerous beasts like in their own country. They were attacked occasionally, but much less then expected. This world was surprisingly tame. The groups pressed ever onward, for months.

OOC: From what I have seen of you, mostly recently, you seem decent. I think I will accept. If no one I know better has posted tonight, expect a special ops team on your doorstep soon.

OOC: Sure. Although I'm an island...

OOC: Hmm. How close to shore are you? Is the mainland visible? (And vice versa)

OOC: Hmm. How close to shore are you? Is the mainland visible? (And vice versa)
OOC: I kinda am the mainland. I'm about 1.5 times the size of Australia. But I'm just saying, your special forces probably wouldn't stumble across me, as I don't have a border with anyone. I do have some colonies though. You could find one of those.
Starenell

OOC: Okay that makes sense.

OOC: So how does your (IC) country's religion play into your country?
The Aeson
20-08-2006, 15:49
OOC: Okay. So... I'll have a just starting up colony near your border. Houses will all be rougly built so far, and there'll be a large military presence, in case of hostile natives and the suchlike.
My religion? Very important. The church is basically the governing body, although the majority of the Council of Thirteen is corrupt. I'm planning on cleaning house soon.

OOC: That makes sense. My people will like the large military presence.

OOC: So what is the deal with the religion? (And Bump)

Bump Oh I didn't even notice that you said that about the religion. What is the religion like? Dogma-wise

OOC: Semi-based on Norse mythology. They also hold virtue to be more important that faith, as one of their defining characteristics. Other than that, whatever works for the current RP mostly.

OOC: Nice.
IC: All teams made decent progress, but still, it had been a year. The team slated to go through the jungle had just come out of it a week ago, now they were in a flat plainsland. This was new to them. Starenell had plains but they were very hilly. The only flat land was farms, and those were usually inside large
basins. Here it was just flat. However, then a week and a days travel away, there was a basin. Tommorrow they would enter the basin and find what was worth searching a mosquito infested jungle for a year to find.

The colony was going well, Supplies from New Aeson had just arrived. Rice and grain, and hardtack. All well and good, but the colonists craved a little variety. So they formed hunting and gathering parties to bring back meat and wild herbs to provide seasoning.
One of the former groups, returning from a sucessful trip bearing a dear and several rabbits, saw movement. One of them raised a pair of binoculars. "What the... we've got natives!"
"Hey!" Shouted one of the other men, "Over here!"
"What are you crazy?"
"Hey, we don't know they're hostile, best to get off one the right foot."
After some consideration, the three men all shouted and waved their arms to attract attention

The team saw the men waving. After a quick scan, they seemed unarmed, so Captain Kieral took five men, armed only with sidearms, and went over. "Hello." He shouted, as they neared the men. Once they were close, he spoke again "Who are you?" The Staric group was obviously not primitive, and undoubtedly military.

"You speak English? Whatever. My names George. We're with the nearby colony. Who are you?"
Starenell
21-08-2006, 18:54
"Yes. I am Captain Kieral of the Staric Military and Special Forces. I am the leader of an exploration team from Starenell, an isolated country far off, that is seeking contact with the outside world."
The Aeson

"Well, you found it. Er... I'm not really qualified for this sort of thing. You want to talk to the head of the colony?"
Starenell

"Sure." Kieral smiled, finally, out of the wilderness.
