Small ships have been seen leaving Lotus, the Eraclean homeworld. These ships have been constructed for mining, and through the first use of a T-System (Tacheyon), the existance of their planet and their people has been sent out into the universe.

The small mining ships have been heading out to the moon in search of valuable minerals. Occaisonally the chatter of the ships ceases as a cry goes out, "Aphlor! Aphlor!" as a particularly joyeus cheer rises up from the ships.

The humble people of Lotus have been increasing their ship numbers and their transmissions are starting to fill the low-end of the Tacheyon Frequency (which is civilian on most FT nations)

Some Freighters have been spotted also spotted from the planet, moving back and forth from the moon. Delivering huge amounts of metals and rare ores to the planet.

Owned by Deth Dune the world's first mining barge launches towards Lotus's moon Ecud. The goal is to further their understanding of some unique substances. Some of which are likely to replace silicon and lead.

Electrical

Arthos
This translucent, unreflective substance is lavender. It is very light. It is extremely inflexible in solid form. This material has a slick texture in solid form. This material's melting point is very high. This substance is conductive.

Cacorin
This unreflective material is brown. It is very brittle in solid form. This material's melting point is high. This substance is conductive. It is a poor insulator against temperature changes. A faint smell of coffee comes from this material.

Aquos
This perfectly transparent substance is aquamarine. It is very heavy. It is extremely inflexible in solid form. This material's melting point is unremarkable. This material provides some protection from radiation. This material does not conduct electricity at all. This substance has an odor of dirt. When exposed to acid it becomes darker in color.

Armor Substances

Garlican
This perfectly transparent, unreflective substance is beyrl-green. It is very light. It is flexible in solid form. This material has a slick texture in solid form. This material's melting point is unremarkable. This material provides excellent protection from radiation. A smell of garlic comes from this material.

Medicinal Substances

Gethos
This somewhat transparent, mirrorlike substance is sand-colored. It is somewhat brittle in solid form. This substance has a slimy texture in solid form. This material's melting point is room temperature. A faint smell of pine needles comes from this substance.

Radiation Substances

Ardent Lothos
This reflective material is red. It is very heavy. It is very malleable in solid form. This material's melting point is below room temperature. This substance absorbs almost all radiation. This substance is not very conductive. It acts as an excellent insulator against temperature changes. A smell of wax comes from this substance.

In a bold move today the Eraclean scientists of Deth Dune launched the first completed Light-Propelled rocket. Reaching speeds twenty five times faster then sound, the rocket labeled L-29 entered space carrying 2500 small satellites that were programmed to re-align themselves in space.

The massive rocket held 40 tons of satellites and various other test projects such as the Stage 2 Light-Propelled Rocket which tested the power of the Light Propelled rocket to its fullest. The speed recorded was 51 km/s. That fastest launch of the LPR system.

Unbeknownst to the people of Eraclea, a trio of Copen exploration ships had been observing the progress of these people for the last six monthes. The Copen Protectorate had been intrigued by the progress of this civilization since they first encountered radio waves coming from the planet.

However, under their strict laws, they were not allowed to contact the people of this planet until they had developed their first manned space exploration vessel.

((Sure. I plan on interacting with your nation soon as it is, provided you send out a space-exploration vessel.))

In the middle of the sea, Deth Dune's rocket facility opened and a massive rocket with a cone-shaped base at the bottom of the rocket. The white rocket shone bright in the sun. 'Deth Dune Enterprises' was written on the side of the craft. The payload consisted of just one object. A folded up ship containing three pilots in the cockpit.

".....This is Mission Control. All systems are go, how is the laser."

"One second, let's test it."

The rocket suddenly blasted a large beam of plasma out of the cone, the laser inside ignited the air and fuel to create a burst of plasma for thrust. The sheer power of the burst rocked the massive rocket.

"What the hell are you doing Rio!"

A burst of laughter came across the radio.

"Are you trying to ruin a $3 billion rocket!?"

More laughter followed. The command was suddenly silent and a loud booming voice, cold as stone and deep and cruel.

"You have no idea what torment you could have been in should you live or die in your mess. Now, finish preparations and launch, we have a deadline to meet."

A calm voice came through, though some snickering in the background, "All systems go."

"Very well, begin count down."

Alarms sounded and the crew heard, "Ten... Nine..."

The countdown reached zero and the rocket's laser shot, igniting the air in a burst of plasma and sending the rocket skyward. The sheer power scorched the pad and melted the plating as the rocket shot into the sky.

What looked like a flickering light was the explosive ignition of the air propelling the craft farther and farther from its launch pad sending it into space at over 25x the speed of sound.

After several minutes the craft used hydrogen to power the light propulsion system and pushed even faster into the outer limits of the atmosphere, shooting farther into space.

"Ready to deploy."

The rocket's lower piece seperated and fell back towards the planet, the front seperating like a shell and a mass of blocks and a central chamber start to form like a box from paper. The crew waited, putting on flimsy space-suits, ready for the expected incoming transmission.

"Next stage launching momentarily, get ready to connect the next module together."

The engines had been launched and the crew was ready to recieve the large central unit which would be launched next. Some errors occured and the launch was delayed, so in a last ditch effort to keep a deadline the engines were launched first, with the central unit second, and right inbetween the cargo hold launch.

Deth Dune was planning to assemble a large spacecraft rather cheaply in space. Light-propulsion would not work well with such a massive object, and the ship would not survive the speeds needed to escape the atmosphere (ooc: which is essentially 25% larger then Earth's atmosphere).

It would take a period of two days of launching, and no failures (the rate of failure was anticipated to be 1% and there would be 8 launches to have the craft at full functionality.

The ship would be filled (via another shipment) of materials to set up a small facility on the moon to allow for launching and retriving of second generation light propulsion rockets that will shoot back and forth on cheaper systems then previous launch models that would be unrealistically expensive to mine otherwise. Finally Deth Dune would monopolize the ore market for the world.

This large ship would definately gather some attention, but its communication systems were primitive compared to what Deth Dune was about to finish.

Those 2500 miniture satellites were communication satellites that allowed for a global network of communication satellites. Though not all were for communication. Some of them twisted to follow and measure and even record the operations of the ship.

With the final launch of the ship to carry the materials for construction, a small satellite sent to search the nearest planet Rose for signs of life and sources of ore. By using Ion Engines it would shoot towards the nearest planet and arrive in one year to take measurements and send them back to Lotus for analysis.
