The Warta Endorean delegate heads for the rostrum to hold his speech. His name was "Sir" John Withecombe, the old Embassador to Mauiwowee. He was the typical gentlemen type, always wearing his best suit.

*clears throat*

Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm honored to be the first speaker in this Security Council. First of all, I want to welcome the new members. I hope this will improve the effectiveness of the United Nations.

We are here to discuss the current crisis in the Middle East. As you all know, Sistan and Asherton have declared war and attacked the members of the Red Sea Alliance; Arabicia, Alif Laam Miim and Kopparbergs. As excuse they say that the Red Sea Alliance was spreading lies to undermine the Sistanian and Asherton Regimes. They also claim that they defend the souvereign state of Yemen, which has been invaded by Arabicia because terrorists had attacked Arabicia out of Yemen.

It is clear in my eyes that these are lies, the greatest example of Propaganda such as the World hasn't seen this the days of Vineyard and the USFR. Even if there is some truth in the accusations made by Sistan and Asherton, it does not justify a full scale military attack on the Red Sea Alliance. This does not look like a hastily prepared retaliation strike. An offensive from all sides, well coordinated, looks like a well prepared offensive to me. In other words, this is nothing more than an Act of Agression by Asherton and Sistan.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Sistan didn't even try to solve this via diplomacy. If they had brought this matter to, for example, the United Nations, it could have been solved without thousands of deaths.

Ladies and Gentlemen, if we all act as Asherton and Sistan have done, we'd better end this discussion now and abandon the United Nations.

As the Resolution states, we call for a Cease Fire within 24 hours. We call on every member of the United Nations who attend this meeting to use their wisdom and support this resolution.

Sir John stepped away from the Rostrum and walked back to the seat of the Warta Endorean delegation.

Revolutionary Leader Đào Thị Cam was more the type of person you'd expect to find on the internet searching for "Hot Asian Chicks" than a world leader. Hardly 31, the Vietnamese woman was nonetheless the most powerful person in all of Indochina.
"Hello, comrades," she said, "As I think you know, my name is Đào Thị Cam, AKA Comrade Đào, Revolutionary Leader Đào, and a few less tasteful things..."
"But, that's not why you guys are listening to me, instead of...oh, I don't know, partying You're listening to me blab because some countries on the other side of the world from me are fighting, honestly because of some of the stupidest reasons I've ever heard in my life."
"Now, don't get me wrong. I think all war is stupid, but at least certain conflicts have had some reasoning behind them! Honestly, let's think, comrades. Indochina does not approve of the actions in Yemen taken by the People's Republic of Arabica, or the actions taken by the ALM emirate in southern Sudan, but really. 'We're invading these people because they invaded these people?' If Arabica has taken a 'page out of Hitler's playbook,' then what is the Sistan/Asherton alliance doing? Starting a World War? Stupidity does not justify more stupidity, comrades! Why don't the nations of this conflict seem to get that? I mean, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here!"
"At least the RSA has some sort of comprehendable reason for invading Yemen, the rest of the Sudan, and Niger. The Sistan-Asherton clique doesn't have that, just 'The Red Sea Alliance are a bunch of warmongers.' Tell me, what are you guys doing? Upholding peace?"
"This is not a justification for imperialism by the RSA, though, we do believe those wars should never have happened. However, this involves taking the largest powers of a reason and smashing them together! Tell me, what happens when that happens? You can bet your ass it isn't peace!"
"I believe that the International Alliance for World Stability, along with many other smaller, scared nations, stand behind me when I say that the RSA and Sistan-Asherton alliance should immediately come to terms with each other ASAP. I don't really care about the squabbles of nations in Western Asia, I live in Southeast Asia. What I do care about is the people of these nations who will pay for the squabbles of their leaders! You are reasonable people, or at least, that's what I have been lead to believe. Prove it to me!"

Ghazi Muhabi - pleased to see that his nap was over, and that it was his turn to speak, stepped up to the podium and then briefly greeted the UNSC:

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Honorable and Esteemed Secretary General of the United Nations, Fellow Delegates from around the world in the United Nations Security Council, other dignitaries with a vested interested in the proceedings in this Council, on behalf of Emir Jalal ibn Mahmud Abd-Allah Al-Misri, I give my sincerest welcome and most heart-felt gratitude that you have welcomed a voice of reason where reason has recently failed. It is with a hard heart that I send news from the people of the Emirate that this news of attack has dented our trust in the Sistan and Asherton – that they are a compassionate people, that they are willing to utilize all diplomatic channels to avoid hostilities, that they are a respectful people and likewise honorable nations with a dignity to acknowledge differences. Today, we have witnessed the true nature of the two nations that now threaten security in the Middle East and perhaps for the world itself.

I come with news, intelligence, and with some hope, that in this time, the United Nations can reason with the Sistani, to stop their senseless attacks and aggressions against the people of the Emirate, and of our allies, who are likely in their forefront to their military schemes. You have all probably heard of the news coming from the Gulf of Aden, where a tanker was sunk – without warning and without just cause. Sistan has admitted to this attack, yet they are not remorseful. Instead, they justify the sinking as a military cover-up by His Majesty’s Armed Forces, in which a large transport was traversing the seas – which are in the first place neutral and not within the domain or the legitimacy of the Persian Empire to secure and blockade. For the facts, the Emirate of Alif Laam Miim has approved the use of tankers for personal transport of company employees visiting and working in foreign countries – to avoid paying for airline tickets and other costly methods of transportation – to utilize tankers as a transport for these workers and citizens, as long as the ships are returning to their home port empty and unreserved. Such was the case, when our tanker was returning to Suez, with about 1500 workers returning home after disturbing news of possible conflict urged the company to recall its workers in Pakistan and India on the next available ship. The ship now lies at the bottom of the Gulf of Aden, about 50 kilometers off the coast of Yemen. Our Navy has yet to recover the vessel to investigate the absolute cause of the destruction – either by torpedo or by mine – and to make the just and right cause to lay the dead to rest in peace.

We have also received news of genocide from Ethiopia. Before Sistani and Asherton forces lined the border with the Sudan, an estimated 25,000 Ethiopian refugees created a camp, which our Armed Forces in the Sudan investigated and we supply their testimony here. According to the commanding officer present at the camp, he reported that numerous men were limbless and some castrated by crude methods. There were reports that many people have been decapitated and other butchered. The majority of these victims were Christians, more or less desecrated by forces from either Sistan, Asherton, or the both of them. While it is unlawful for such refugees to make camp inn the sovereign territory of the Emirate, General Abd-Allah Aziz has requested permission to grant amnesty to the refugees. Hereto, the Emir granted this and the 25,000 refugees were relocated to more secure facilities and attention near Khartoum, where our own reconstruction of the Sudan still continues. And the report continues to be staggering in the number and cruelty of atrocities occurring in Ethiopia, mostly to Christian men. This prompted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to confront Asherton and Sistan to confirm these reports and furthermore to reconcile and resolve the crimes being perpetrated by the forces in the region. As we all know, their response was a declaration of war.

Genocide, reckless destruction of civilian vessels, and an unrighteous declaration of war; what more do we need to add? This is sufficient proof that neither Sistan nor Asherton are rightful members of the international community, and they furthermore prove their lack of resolve to be committed to diplomatic agreements and furthermore to peaceful endeavors, by opting to remain out of the affairs of the United Nations Security Council; even after the Secretary General had made its invitation to the world, they have yet to reply.

Moreover, ALM intelligence has revealed that there is a very possible connection to the government of the Persian Empire of Sistan and the extremist forces under the banner of the Arms of Allah – the group that had staged the attack in Riyadh. While the Arms of Allah continues its own war against the Yemeni government, several branches of the movement have been seen moving recently acquired Yemeni arms into Oman and Qatar, where they seek to topple those governments. Progress in Yemen has led to these confirmations, supplied by the Military Intelligence Forces of Arabicia. The only problem is explaining how Arms of Allah forces could be penetrating Qatar without crossing either Sistani territory or Arabician territory. According to intel, we have not only confirmed that Arms of Allah units are passively crossing Sistan, but we have also confirmed that Sistani vessels, positioned in the Gulf of Aden have been making regular stops in ports of Yemen – at least in those controlled by the Arms of Allah. Whereas Sistan has only had severe condemnation for Arabicia for fighting against the sovereign nation of Yemen, they have failed to mention that they were covertly supporting these armed radicals that have committed these atrocities in the southern quarters of the Arabian Peninsula.

With all that has happened in the Middle East, we are certainly surprised at the declaration of war – but upon reflection, we can see now that war has been the thought of the Persian Empire of Sistan since its inception. They waged a war against the former socialist government in Persia – they extended that war to the United Arab Emirates, and they continued to push it into Socotra. When there was no one else to subdue, they requested permission to seize Iraq and began fighting a war to secure the rest of Iraq from forces that had existed long before them. They then pursued them into Kuwait. Now, with news of Sistani aggression in Ethiopia and this current that they have wrought upon themselves, we can only conclude that Sistan is a nation of war. They have some corruption of the divine – to believe that their work is the work of Allah. But we know otherwise, as Islam would never condone what Sistan has done, and Islam worldwide supports this view. This is a war between the world that cherishes peace and order and the world that seeks war with all of its neighbors.

Yet, for all of that, the Emirate of Alif Laam Miim maintains an optimistic mood that peace will prevail. Under assurance by several nations, including those present in this body, we know that the world is not corrupted by the rhetoric of Sistan. We furthermore know that the world accepts that Sistan’s declaration of war is unrighteous and thus puts the burden of the pains and suffering it causes upon them. But again, as a peace-loving people, the Emirate shall be merciful to Sistan if they are willing to accept peace again. They must cease all action against the Emirate, our allies in the People’s Republic of Arabicia and the Kingdom of Kopparbergs, and all vessels seeking passage in the Gulf of Aden and the Strait of Hormuz. We furthermore implore them to cease their acts of genocide in Ethiopia and in other regions where our intelligence is limited. We implore them to cease aiding extremist forces in the Arabian Peninsula, and we implore them to abandon their hostile nature that has earned them this infamous reputation of a bellicose and unrighteous nation. We feel that these provisions can be secured to offer a lasting peace in the region, and furthermore bolstering the position in the Middle East as a safe and secure region.

Whereas, we offer these warnings in the event of war that proves to be costly. At the current moment, a number of 200 million lives exist in the regions that are to fall under war. The current statistic and proportion of trade passing through the region is astronomically high, such that any disruption of trade in the Red Sea and the Suez Canal could cost billions for the entire world. The amount of oil produced and traded from the Middle East covers over one-third of the global production of oil, and over 80% of the world’s export of crude oil. [ooc: source Energy Information Administration (http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/international/contents.html) – under Petroleum [Production] ( http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/international/iealf/tableg1.xls) and Petroleum [Trade] ( http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/international/iea2004/table31.xls) – must have MSExcel to view these] Thus, any damage to the Middle East will certainly be damaging to the world economy and perhaps even to world security. As is the purpose of this venerable organization, we implore the United Nations Security Council to bring peace and reason back to the Middle East, and to cease Sistan’s unwarranted military aggression against its neighbors. We also request that United Nations Security investigate further the matter of genocide in Ethiopia and the extent of Sistan’s assistance to extremist groups.

With all these things concluded, we can pray that order will prevail and the world can sleep more easily with conflict off its shoulders. But let us remind the United Nations Security Council that if Sistan refuses these protocols, or nothing of practical matter or of peace arrives in this organization, the Emirate of Alif Laam Miim will do all in its power to ensure the safety of its citizens, of its allies’ citizens, of citizens and civilians abroad under the oppressive regime in Ethiopia, and wherever there is a threat to our national security and to the general well-being of global security. Therefore, we urge a quick, reasonable, and resolute response from the United Nations Security Council, to provide the most effective and accepted means to the restoration of peace.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Most Esteemed Secretary General of the United Nations, Delegates from those many nations, other dignitaries with vested interest in the resolution of these matters, I bid you all a good day."

There is no Secretary-General at this time. And after searching for it, it looks like the orginal [Earth V] UN charter is now lost somewhere on the no longer existing Zifos website, so I don't even know if the position exists.

The Union of South Africas Delegates also congratulate speeches made by Indochina. we see this as an encouraging sign to re establish friendly diplomatic relations with Indochina...
:)

We Unilaterally deplore Sistanis "napoleonistic" ambitions in the region and do not reconize their regime in Theran nor Ashertons in Addis Ababa.

we therefore move for a resolution to Impose economic sanctions by the security council as well as Impose an Arms embargo..

Our armed forces are currently proccupied in "Internal affairs of State" at the moment so will be unable to provide any military support at the time being if the situation arises. But Logisitcal support will be provided as well as the support of the Southern African people.

“Members of the delegation I would like to take a moment to thank you for allowing me this moment to voice the opinions of the Philippines Protectorate. It is with my greatest honor that I appear before you now in this most enlightened atmosphere.

The events unfolding in the Middle East are alarming, that I do not disagree on. Much has already been said regarding the situation and for this reason I decided to alter my speech that I had previously prepared. Unlike the other delegates that have stood before you, I must play the devil’s advocate for a moment. I must say I am quite disappointed at my fellow speaker’s quick jump to conclusions on the matter at hand. Although the events in the Middle East may seem clear there is many an incident that remains foggy and although I do condemn Sistan’s refusal to settle this diplomatically I also must hereby condemn those who wish to further the fire in this war. Please, let me explain in more detail.

First off I must understand Alif Laam Miim’s role in Sudan and Arabicia’s in Yemen which are generally thought to be the main focus of Sistan’s aggression. Sistan claimed that the imperialistic nature of these attacks should be condemned. Now I ask, is this not imperialism? Of course the excuse given was that numerous attacks of terrorist nature have been originating from Yemen yet I have personally seen no proof of this. I must furthermore comment that there was an organization formed to end all forms of imperialism of which Indochina is a member. However this is a sidetrack and so I will continue.

The next issue is that of the tanker that was sunk by Sistan forces. This is much harder to defend than the previous issue yet I shall in fact try. I will agree with anyone who states that this is a clear violation of a nation’s sovereignty and should be punished. There was no proof stating in favor of Sistan that the ship was indeed carrying military personal. However there was also no proof that it wasn’t. This brings me to my point, why is everyone making such quick decisions when there is no proof for either side. Yes Alif Laam Miim’s reasoning behind the extra personal being on the tanker is legitimate but who is to say that Sistan’s isn’t? What further interests me is why a formal investigation by Alif Laam Miim has not been made. An incident so personal, I would think, would be a top priority.

Finally I would like to address the accusations of genocide and/or mass murder in Ethiopia. While I have seen no evidence for or against this claim I would like to be told why, now in the event of war, has this been brought up? A matter so extreme I would have again though would be a top priority for anyone who even remotely holds human life of any value.

Contrary to what you all must think now I, my country, do not side with Sistan in this conflict…nor, however, do we side with the Red Sea Alliance. We mean no disrespect through this speech although I feel as if there is no other way. I only ask that each nation reconsider their outlook on the situation before committing troops to a cause you do not quite understand. You all mock this war for being started over silly and absurd reasons yet you are willing to enlarge this conflict thus causing more loss of life, does this make sense? Indeed this war was caused for all the wrong reasons, neither side is right in this conflict and for that reason I wish it to end here not a mass graveyard in a far away land.

To end this speech I must put forth my suggestion. I agree with the cease-fire and would like a formal international investigation on the tanker, Sudan, Yemen, and Ethiopia.

I bid you all a good day.”

[Ooc: hope I didn’t offend anyone to bad, and if there is actual proof of these please let me know through a TG or something so I can edit the speech and not sound like a total idiot.]

1- Yemeni Terrorists:

Mostly on this thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=495605), some on the Red Sea Alliance Thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=495608)...

2 - Tanker investigation:

This is exactly why Red Sea Alliance ships are not allowed to traverse the waterways. Not only have these untrustworthy scoundrels assassinated the leader of Bahrain and instated a puppet on the throne, staged a bombing in their own territory as an excuse to invade Yemen, and invaded several other sovereign nations, but now they use civilian ships as unmarked military transports to aid their imperialistic ambitions within Yemenese territory only to claim that the 'crew', already inflated beyond industry standards by several orders of magnitude, was instead made up of tourists hitching a free ride home. I find it interesting that first the casualties were the ship's crew, and yet are suddenly ALM nationals on a trip home. How, may I ask, are fifteen hundred people supposed to find room and board on a ship designed for a crew of less than thirty?

-King Cyrus III
The Persian Empire of Sistan

Is the Persian Empire of Sistan trying provoke action? Because they are revealing their indignance by maintaining their "just cause" for the sinking of a civilian vessel. Furthermore, they resist accepting the national sovereignty of Arabicia, to respond and defend its nation from extremists abroad. We are very certain that your nation wouldn't hesitate to react in the same manner as would Arabicia in the same circumstance - the only difference is that it is not your nation.

Furthermore, we are disgusted that you would our citizens and our crew "tourists hitching a free ride home." There is plenty of room on a vessel of such a size to fit 1500 people on a short ride home, unless you've never visited an empty tanker. Furthermore, it would be hard for your navy to sink our transports when they are safely docked and all accounted in their places. Our only loss is this one tanker that you sunk without regard to life or peace. We maintain that the ship transported crew and nationals working in foreign countries for our oil industry, and if you need evidence, it is on the ship. And just for your information, our navy is going to raise that vessel to uncover what kind of damage was inflicted by your own vessels. We will secure that vessel and its downed site, and your forces will not intervene at all. Otherwise, consider a war with you imminent upon such attacks.

Prime Minister Yusuf Hassan

3 - Genocide in Ethiopia:

Refugee reports from the Sudan confirm that massive slaughters have been occuring within Ethiopian territory. Just before Asherton and Sistani troops closed the border, at least 25,000 refugees - mostly Christian - fled to the Sudan where they have flocked to massive camps where recent military reports confirmed that rampant disease and malnutrition run through the camps. Although the occupation by these refugees was considered illegal, the Prime Minister Yusuf Hassan - on the behalf of Emir Jalal - has granted them all amnesty and pledged to relocate the civilians to government support centers in the Sudan. A number of militant refugees were forced to turn their weapons to ALM authorities before they were permitted to leave for these supporrt centers.

From this large community, which alleges to numerous barbaric murder and torture incidents in Ethiopia as Asherton and Sistan force solidify their power over the region. One man indicated that men were decapitated, castrated, and/or minced in front of their families. A number of the Christan men in the camps had lost arms - one of the better offenses committed in Ethiopia. In all, the reports are startling and conjure only condemnation from the Emirate for this disregard for basic human rights: "Any person who commits such atrocities cannot call himself Muslim, let alone human," quoted by the Ministry of Justice.

The Ministry of Foreign Relations has issued a statement to Asherton:

"While we respect the sovereignty of Asherton and their recent need to procure safe and secure borders, we implore your government to restore order in Ethiopia by less barbaric means. We furthermore express our hope that this sort of practice is commonly accepted by the Asherton Armed Forces as a means to deal with dissident minorities. If need be, we will open our lands to host those displaced in the conflict so that these practices will cease. We hope that Asherton respects the dignity of life, so as not to authorize brutal and unnecessary modes of acquiescence for its citizens. We stand by our offers and await your reply."

Hopefully, this helps with others surveying the situation as well...]

Indeed but if I read correctly which I usually don’t, this is all from your standpoint, nothing international. Or better yet, no confirmation from opposing sides which, unfortunately, must be done in Rping although I'm sure you are aware of that.

Again nothing personal just trying to even the playing field a bit.
