Philanchez

For just over a century the nation had been ruled by diehard Socialists and the Philanchian Socialist Party. The people were secure in their knowledge of their nations history and the fact that the PSP was the best party for the nation. For years the people have been molded into products of the state, fluent in the fabricated history of their nation and oblivious to is falacy.
The Philanchian people are taught from a young age about the fourty years of anarchy bewteen 1848 and 1888 and the legendary oppressive empire that ruled before 1848. This belief was about to be shaken to its very core.

Socialist Peoples Republic of Philanchez
"Holy shit! You gotta see this, man!" said Patxi. The director of the archeological dig, Fernando Huelva, walked over to Patxi and inspected the stone that was emerging from the ground. It seemed to be decorated in medieval mosaic and depicted a bloody battle and an Emperor standing above three kneeling subjects each offering a royal sceptre.
"This is interesting. It appears as if the three kneeling subjects represent three peoples or nations. This could be evidence of the long disputed claim of an ancient Philanchian Empire. Keep digging and be careful. Hey! You three, over there! Come help him!" announced Huelva as he walked away. He immediatly notified the archeological journal of this potential find and within days they were on site, photographing the new structure.

"It's Magnificent." marveled one of the photographers. "Truely incredible." said another. Remarks about the beauty and symbolism were being made by all of those present and the current consensus was that this mural showed the foundation of an empire. A name, Charles Magnus, was painted in beautiful calligraphy over the head of the Emperor and it appeared that the archeologists had finally discovered the past of Philanchez. However, this one wall was not all that occupied the archeologists. Several mural-covered walls, apparently those belonging to a former Imperial residence, told the story of the empire and its lineage of monarchs up untill the beginnings of the Anarchy. The families name was Guevarra y Valladolid.
The findings of this archeological expedition were immediately published for all to see and after weeks of shock, the rebellion began.

Guernica, Northern Philanchez
Charles VI, latest in the line of the Guevarra y Valladolid family, was a prosperous businessman in the Basque Provinces. Upon hearing of the discovery he announced his claim to the throne of Spain, Portugal and Morrocco, the three subjects. It took the vast amount of his wealth to fund his rebellious venture but the nationalistic fervor of the Philanchian people assisted greatly in his endeavor. Many people were won over to the Monarchist side with nostalgiac ideas of a grand Empire to dwarf all others. These ideas had finally come to fruition when Charles VI travelled to Guernica to swear an oath of allegiance to the people of the Basque Provinces and to announce his declaration of war on the Socialist Peoples Republic.
Standing under the oak tree in front of the basque Assembly he solmnly declared, "I, Charles VI de Guevarra y Valladolid, do swear unto the Basque peoples and all those who currently live under the oppressive rule of the PSP, that I will uphold the basic tenets of freedom and morality to the best of my ability. I will march here-to-for, in the name of Christ the King and the peoples of Spain, Portugal, and Morrocco."

After almost two months of skirmishes and desertion on the parts of Red Army soldiers, the Socialist Peoples Republic of Philanchez ceased to exist and built upon its ashes was a marvelous Empire worthy of any monarch.
This day would be one for the history books. The coronation of the first Emperor since Charles the Bewitched, in the Cathedral of El Escorial.
Charles VI walked slowly into the Cathedral dressed in Imperial splendor with the robes befitting of an Emperor. His suit was that of a Captain-General and he wore many military decorations across his broad chest. He approached the Bishop of Escorial who was seated in front of the altar awaiting the Emperor-Elect. Slowly Charles dropped to one knee and he endured the entire coronation ceremony in this akward position. At the end, the Bishop revealed a crown from the jeweled reliquaryin the rear of the Cathedral and brought it forth to Charles. He then spoke in a booming voice "I present to you, Charles de Guevarra y Valladolid, the Crown of Santiago, the symbol of the Holy Catholic Empire of Iber." The crowd applauded and when Charles stood, symbolizing the end of the ceremony, the crowd broke out into shouts and whistles for their newly crowned monarch.
