Operation Bat Eye-Invasion of Australia

SIC.

Special Infantry Squads from the 1st. Airborne Division of the Marine Corps have started to infiltrate Northern Australia. A Total of Five Squads (30 men) landed on the Islands of Melville, Bathurst and in Arnhem land. They will gather intelligence for the comming invasion of Australia by Warta Endor.

This was just the first phase of Operation Bate Eye, the Invasion of Australia.

Australia was once the homeland of Warta Endor's trusted and deeply loved ally Mauiwowee. Since the fall of Mauiwowee, and the chaos that erupted on E5 in general, Australia was once again independant. But not for long.

It's strategic position and valuable resources made it an attractive target for any nation in the World. But such a country so close to Warta Endor's homeland in possible hostile hands...no. That was the Nightmare of every Military and Civilian official in Warta Endor for years.

Together with the landing of the Special Infantry Squads (or SIS), Warta Endorean Submarines would patrol close to the shores of Australia and at times set small teams ashore. In time, Recon Flights by the Warta Endorean Air Force would also provide curcial information for the main invasion, which would take place in 6 months. The entire Marine Corps should be revamped with new Rifles and new MBT's, CFV's and IFV's. They would be the main tool for the invasion, each Corps landing on three different locations along the Northern and Western Coast of Australia. The Invasion beaches would be near Darwin, Port Headland and Perth. From there, Armored and Mechanized Columns would move inland while the Infantry Divisions secure the coast. That is the Basic Plan.

Fierce resistance was be expected, as Australians are and always were though fighters. But they would be no match for Warta Endor's Fighting Machine, the Brutal Grunts of the Marine Corps

After several weeks of gathering information, the SIS is withdrawn from Northern Australia. More information will be gathered by High Altitude Reconaissance Flights. The Marine Corps starts extra training in Amphibious Landings at Night. The Regular Army also increases training in Amphibious Assault and so called Blitzkrieg Tactics, quick advance with Armored and Mechanized Columns, Infantry mops up the resistance. The NAR also increases their training; instead of once a month, they train every weekend.

Air Force trains specificly on Ground Attack and Close Air Support. F18's and F16 B's train in Deep Strike Missions.

The training continues as more intelligence about the state of Australia and it's Armed Forces is being gathered. New Equipment, as Apache's AH-64D, Leopard 2A6, Bradley IFV's and CFV's is introduced in the Armed Forces, the Army and NAR will start use the equipment later on.

With the increased priority production of equipment in Sharina, almost all the Army and NAR units have been equipped with new IFV's, CFV's and Artillery.

SIC.

The Entire NAR has been activated and the regular Army is moved to West Timor and Java. The Marine Corps have moved to Bali. The 2nd. fleet in Surabaya and the 3rd. Fleet in rabaul have beel loading extra supplies and head for sea. The Air Force is ready as well. All has been set for the invasion of Australia.

Finally, the day had arrived. Today, Warta Endor would invade Australia. The Marines would be the first to hit the beaches. The plan was pretty complicated. There would be three main thrusts: I Corps near Perth (Yanchep to be precise), II Corps near Darwin and III Corps near Port Hedland.

The most important landing was the Darwin Operation. The Marine Airborne Division would land 2 Battalions (2000 men) on the Island of Bathurst and 3 Battalions (3000 men) on the Island of Melville. The Remaining two Brigades (10000 men) would land some twenty miles south and east of Darwin to cut it off from the rest of Australia. Once the Islands are secure, the 1st. Airmobile Division of the III Army Corps would ferry to Melville, which would be come their main base of operations in Australia. The Remainder of II Marine Corps and III Army Corps would land near Darwin, capture the city and move inland. The Infantry Divisions would head southwest along the coast to link up with III Marine Corps. IV Army Corps would reinforce them 36 hours after the first wave hit the beaches.

The Port Hedland Operation was less crucial, but still very important. In the area was one of the main reasons why Warta Endor invades Australia: huge amounts of Iron ore. The III Marine Corps would land near Port Hedland , supported by the 3rd. Fleet. The II Army Corps would land 36 hours after the first wave. The Infantry Divisions would move North to link up with the II Corps, while the Mechanized and Armored Divisions would move south towards Perth.

The Perth Landing would be bloody. It was near one of Australia’s major cities and the Australian SAS had their headquarters there. I Marine Corps, I Army Corps and V Army Corps would land on the beaches and assault the city to capture it as quickly as possible. The 2nd. Fleet would support them. Once the city is secure, the Infantry Divisions would move north to link up with Port Hedland. The Armored and Mechanized divisions would first secure the South-Western tip of Australia and then move inland across the Nullarbor plain.

Yanchep, near Perth-0627 Hours

The men were pretty nervous, Sgt. Roy saw. They had been nervous since they had boarded the Transports which would bring them from Bali to the Indian Ocean near Perth. He wasn't keen about landing to. They had no Air Support, only the Appaches and Rooivalks from the Helicopter Carriers. The Zeven Provinciën Class Frigates would provide Air Defense, but still. God damn it! Where were the days that the Warta Endorean Navy had the largest Carrier Force in the world? All were lost or damaged during the Chaos Years. No fucking air support, great...

"Ok boys! Now listen to me! You have performed great during last year's manoevres! Now you will experience the real thing! We will land on the soil of our former ally Mauiwowee! It is likely that there will be resistance, but we can also be welcomed as heroes! Treat every Native you meet with respect, as they were our allies and they will be our fellow countrymen! Now be ready men! be Dangerous, you are Marines! HURRAH! Lock and Load men! Don't waste ammo, but use it when you need it!

When the boats hit the beaches and the ramps were lowered, Sgt. Roy was the first one to be out, together with Lt. Mickenson, the Company Commander. It was Marine Corps tradition that the Officers were first to hit the beaches. Marines were handled to operate even without their Senior Officers. As Sgt. Roy ran for the dunes the men spread out behind him and followed him to the dunes. Suddenly they heared the familiar swoosh of an incoming Mortar Round...

"Incoming! Hit the deck!"
Kaboooooom
"Medic, medic! Argh!"
"Hold on man, hold on! Shit, this guy is wasted!"
"Head for the dunes, Dust Farts!" *
"Choy!"
"Yes sir!"
"Radio the HC's and call for Helo Support!"
"Aye! This is Mango Tree 010, request Helo Support! Enemy is inflicting causalties with heavy mortar fire!"
"Roger Mango tree 010, Helo is right over ya!"

Seconds later three brand new Apache Ah-64D Longbow flew over, firing their Machineguns rattling. Minutes later, the A Company was in the dunes, fighting through a serie if hastily constructed defenses. They ad already lost 4 men, while 3 needed a MEDEVAC. Once the dunes were clear, a UH-1 landed and collected the wounded and the bodies.

Thirty minutes later the men of A Company sat on the ground while the first Leopards were rolling buy, towards Perth. They had done their job perfectly and they took a quick breakfest before they moved on. Suddenly a Colonel approached a young Marine called Hyuung.

"At ease, son. Where can I find the CO of this unit?"
"Right there sir!"

the Colonel walked towards the figure of a man who sat on the ground. next to him was a bodybag. When the Colonel came closer he saw an older man, a bullet whole straight through the forehead. As the Lieutanent stood up and slauted the Colonel, the colonel kept watching the man.

"Tell me, who is that man? Wasn't he a bit old to serve in the Marines?"
"Sir, that was Sgt. Raymond Roy, a veteran of Thailand, the Oman Invasion, Sakhalin, the Pacific Island campaign and the South American Endeavour, sir! He maybe looked old, but he still was young in his powers...Damn, after so many years dying here..."
"It's alright son. I'm Colonel Bashir, commander of the 1st. Brigade of the 2nd. Infantry Division, I Corps. You have done a great job, the beach is secure in 30 minutes! Must be some sort of record..."
"Thank you sir! What are our orders, Colonel?"
"For now, you may wait. Within an hour, the entire division will be ashore and then we move North to connect with our brothers in Hedland. Be prepared for a long drive!"
"Yes sir!"

*Dust fart: Common Insult in the Marine Corps, meaning:
a. a Regular Army Infantry Man.
b. a coward, hits the deck and doesn't dare to continue again.

Report-1230 Hours, H Hour+6

The Invasion of Australia, also called Operation Bat Eye, is going smoothly sofar. Little resistance has been met, all beaches are secure and troops are moving inland. if everything goes well Western and Northern Australia will be completely under our control within two weeks.

Operation Darwin
Bathurst and Melville are completly under our control and Engineers are building supply depots and bases as we speak. The 1st. Airmobile Division is underway to Melville, and will soon be ready for action. Small skirmishes are being fought as troops move into Darwin.

Operation Hedland

Everything is going as planned. The troops have captured Port Hedland and the surrounding area. The Forces are moving North and South along the coast and they are slightly ahead of schedule.

Operation Perth

As elsewhere things are going as planned, the invasion beaches were secure within 30 minutes. Mechanized and Armored Columns are moving towards Perth, with slightly higher casualties then elsewhere.

The SAS we feared hasn't been seen, Intelligence fears they and a large part of the Australian Army have moved East to build a effective defensive position there. It might explain why the resistance we met is so light.

With regards,

General W.T.E. Robinski

D-Day+3-0037 hours

"Shit! Goddamned SAS!"

Corporal Mushir of the 1st. Mechanized Division of the Warta Endorean Marine Corps took cover behind a wall. He wanted to cross the street with his squad whena machinegun opened fire and drove them back to where they came. They were close to what seemed to be the centre of resistance, the SAS Barracks in Perth. The fight for Perth had been raging for two days now and it was one of the thoughest fighting the Warta Endorean Marine Corps ever saw. At first everything seemed to go as planned, even a few squadrons of Hawk 209 were brought to a nearby Airfield which was captured. When the Marines moved into perth in Force they were slaughtered, it was amassacre which would be the start for a though battle. It looked like at least 15000 men were inside Perth, determined to hold out as long as they could. It was a pretty shitty situation, but on the other hand it meant that most of the Australian Army would be destroyed once Perth was captured. Now he had to figure what he would do.

"Mike, Animal!"
"Yeah!"
"You two cross the street, Animal, keep firing your machinegun! Once you reach the other side, cover us when we cross one by one."
"Aye, sir!"

The two men slowly took a peek around the corner and then ran for it. Animal did what he does best, wasting the enemy. He fired 60 rounds at the supposed position of the enemy Machinegun. When the were at the other side the took cover and continued to fire on the Machinegun position. One by one the men crossed the street and the enemy machinegun still didn't fire. When Mushir prepared to cross the street as last one he mentioned to them to halt their fire. He quickly ran across the street, meanwhile using his grenadelauncher to fire a grenade in the building where the Machinegun position was. Whehn the grenade exploded they saw a body flying through the air...

Several Hours later, the resistance in perth was over, after two days of hard fighting. The Battle was though for the Marines, about 2000 Marines were listed as casualties, many more were slightly wounded. The Battle for Perth was over, now the Armored and Mechanized Columns could storm east to mop up the remaining resistance.

News from the North was good, the entire coast was secure while Armored Columns moved South and South East from Darwin.

D Day+6-1030 hours-Somewhere over Northern Australia

The 1st. Airmobile Division of the Warta Endorean Regular Army was now somewhere over Northern Australia. They were told that two Armored Battalions plus some Infantry was gathering around Tennant Creek to try to block the Warta Endorean advance. The 1st. Airmobile ahd to prevent the Aussies from getting a firm base. They were ecorted by a few Apaches of the Marine Corps and Regular Army Rooivalks. F16's would bomb the area near the LZ to disrupt the enemy, minutes before the Division would arrive. It would take a total of three flights to ferry the entire division.

Over the whooping sound of their UH-1N's the Marines heared the explosions of the bombardment. They were close...

"Ok lads, we will show those Aussie Bastards what we can do!"

The Heuys landed on the LZ while the Machinegunners fired on every bush to kill the enemy if he were there. When the choppers touched down the men jumped from the choppers and ran for cover as the helicopters returned to base to pick up the next group. Major Budoyono quickly rallied the men who were on the LZ.

"Alpha to Delta, defend the LZ. Dig in and wait for the next flight to come in. Echo to India Companies, head for the town. Bruce, play the pipes!"
"Yes sir!"

While the bagpipes wailed Five Companies moved towards Tennant Creek, tensed to the bone. Because they were dealing with Armored vehicles they brought a lot of AT Rifles and RPG 29's with them. When they had walked for 20 minutes the Pathfinder suddenly signalled to stop. They all slowly lay down while the Pathfinder whispered to Budoyono. When they were finished talking the Major turned to the Infantrymen.

*whispers*
"Ok men! There's a group of tanks a few hundred meters from here. We can do two things: do it ourselves or call in Air Support. I think we should try to take them out ourselves. Spread out, and wait for my signal."

The men slowly spread out and waited.

The Australians had no idea what would happen. They had stopped here to rest before continueig North to counter the Warta Endorean invasion. Some men smoked while the others talked softly. They were pretty nervous. They had heared the stories about the Battle of Perth. Those Warta Endoreans were no pussies, they fought untill they won. And 30 minutes ago they heared some explosions to the west. Private Strong slowly inhaled the smoke of his cigarete as he turned around. He closed his eyes and sighed. Suddenly he was wide awake. Something was in the Bush! Before he could warn the others fire erupted from all sides. He was hit in the knee and he went down. While he was on the ground he saw that the vehicles were being destroyed and his friends were either killed or captured. Suddenly he saw boots walking his way and he was frightened.

"Come one lad, your war is over. Medic! I got a wounded Aussie here!"
"Ok man, let's see...Ahhh, your knee has been shot. Doesn't look to good, wait a minute. When does the MEDEVAC come in?"
"A few minutes, shouldn't be to long."
"Great. Well, how're you feeling?"
"Shitty..."
"I can understand that! How old are you?"
"Nineteen sir. I joined the Army a few months ago..."
"Well, I think your Army career is over."

When the MEDEVAC landed Pvt. Strong was carried into the chopper together with his wounded comrades and the wounded Warta Endorean soldiers.

ooc. A last post before I leave.

Australian resistance was effectively gone after the battles for Tenant Creek and Perth. Almost all Australian Army Forces were captured or killed, a few token forces continued to hold on or surrendered.

The entire mainland of Australia was under Warta Endorean control, only Tasmania remains in Australian hands. General Robinski has sent a proposal of surrender to the Australians, who haven't answered yet. Eventhough there were still a few (at the most 1000 Combat Troops) Australians on Tasmania, General Robinski has informed the Marshall that Australia is under Warta Endorean control.

It was official, Australia had surrendered to Warta Endor, it is now part of the Federal Socialist Republics. About 50 billion USD will be spent in reconstructing the country, especially the Perth area which has been the scene of heavy fighting. The Regular Army and Marine Corps units will return to Warta Endor for a six month rest period while the NAR Corps occupy Australia. Regular Army and Marine Corps units will relieve the NAR while Australian Army units will be trained and equipped. In 12 months, Australia will raise at the most three more Army Corps and one Marine Corps. The navy has expressed it's wish that a 4th. Fleet will be formed to defend the Southern Waters of Warta Endor. Bases may be either Sydney, Melbourne, Aidelaide or Perth.
