1940 North Pacific ocean

the 2nd Imperial Kirisuban fleet was on exercise off its own coastline and 100 miles east of the territory of Angermanland.

the 'Emperor Hanji' was an aircraft carrier and it was escorted by a diesel attack submarine and four frigates.

they were playing the enemy in this game as troops were trying to land on shore. the army were defending the beaches and the light grey sea tenchi fighters were 'attacking' the shore and dog fighting with the squadron of imperial airforce tenchi's.

out of the range of the wargames a 2 seater Tenchi seaplane was flying high and taking aerial photos while its pilot was looking ahead for any signs of company..

the Angerman navy, as a rule, staied on it's own side of the arbritrary border between the two empires. but the nature of the ocean is such that there is no definate way of keeping track of such things in bad weather.

such had been the case the day before. the ranger class cruser "Luna Glory" had been caught in a suvier storm to the south. damage was minor over all, but the ships navigation and communications gear had been all but destroyed. it's crew were navigating in the older style. maps, stars, and the sun. they were makeing good time, and weren't Exactly lost. but they were definatly not where they were ment to be.

their current location was somewhere in the order of 100 kilometers east of the 'border'

ooc: yeah, i know you said miles and i said kilometers..that's significant. it means we're not Quite right on top of each other :P

the long range patrol consisting of the IKN Frigates 'Ningyo' and 'Bajang' had picked up the stray ship on their radar.

they steamed towards the ship proudly flying the black and red naval ensign and Captain Hiromatsu Tanaka wasn't quite sure what he was going to find as he stalked the bridge of the Ningyo.

storms were normal in this part of the world and whoever had named this the pacific ocean had been badly mistaken.

still 5 miles away from the contact they kept going through the choppy sea as a Kirisuban navy flying boat soared ahead.

the plane would get there first and then they would have some answers..

"Captain! Kirisuban warships to starboard, Sir!" the lookouts were doing their jobs well, scanning the horizen with keen eyes, and useing their binoculars when ever they saw something that might be, well, anything.

"Oh, this Can't be good" Captain Nieth Strinj checked over the ships status. flags clearly displayed, heraldry as intact as it could be after the storm, weapons all in thier natural and nutral positions, communincation and navigation gone, crew intact, heading directly for the border and home, engines at standard cruising speed so that while they would appear to be makeing haste to leave the area, they could be overhauled if nessisary, rather than appearing to be escapeing...

"well, there's nothing we can do now but hope like hell their captains are reasonable."

the flying boat swooped over the Luna Glory, circled it, noted the flags and heraldlry and sent a radio message in english asking their purpose in the waters of the Kirisuban Empire.

"attention Luna Glory. you have entered the waters of the Empire. may i ask your intentions"

with the frigates still 30 minutes away this situation was in the hands of the flying boats crew.

ooc: when did english become the language of the pacific become english, humm? hehe.

IC:
the same damage which prevented the Luna Glory from makeing an electronic responce had rendered them unable to run up message flags, as those too would be on comunications and detection masts.

as a result, the only responce the aircraft recieved was a few of the crewmen on the main deck waveing up at it.

still, enough of the com gear was intact to register that there was a radio signal incoming, at leat at this range where an antena was basicly unnessisary. the result was that the radio operater would have heard orginized static rather than random chaos. of course, this did not do them any good as, haveing assertained the extent of the damage, the radio operaters were with the enginers trying to get the gear working again, rather than maning their posts.

ooc: in early PT some Kirisubans knew latin and practically every kirisuban can speak english given their contact with trading nations and merchant ships from Angermanland.

also if anyone can see Suki from the ship she's 25 years old and wearing a white uniform (a blouse and trousers) with tall black flying boots and a brown leather jacket which looks like its lined with fleece. she also has a white peaked cap on and her long black hair is in a ponytail.

ic:

The pilot looked down at the crew waving to her flying boat. since they weren't shooting at her or looking like they were about to she made the decison to land and use the megaphone instead.

After making a smooth landing about 30 metres away she got the megaphone and opened the side door looking out at the ship. the other 3 male crew members stayed alert and ready to take off or fight if need be.

"my name is Flight Lt Suki Takahara of the Imperial Kirisuban Navy. may I ask what brings your ship to the waters of the empire and if I can assist you" she shouts out to them.

ooc: well, without some sort of political disaster, there goes that opertunity for shooting. unless your ships decide to go nuts. it also occurs to me that, given the current and past political situation, Angerman, Latin, or Kirisuban it's self would be more likely to be understood... Angermanland doesn't speek english, you'll find. actually, come to think of it... does Anyone in this RP?

IC:
the captain of the Luna Glory responded in kind:

"I am Captain Nieth Strinj of the Angerman Imperial Navy. a storm knocked us off course a day or two back, suvierly damaged the antena masts, and pretty much fried the bulk of our comunications and navigation equipment. and now we are makeing our way back to our own waters."

"Captain Strinj if you follow me i can lead you back west" Suki shouts over "and then you'll be fine. by the way welcome to the Kirisuban Empire"

She believed the Angermanland Captain and got her radio operator to radio the frigate commanders steaming towards their position.

there was no threat and they zig-zagged moving to a new heading as part of their patrol route.

ooc: this is the standard IKN approach. approach, make enquiries and then decide on a course of action. off course if they need some equipment to get them home that can be arranged.

ooc: actually, if you check back, they were navigating all right useing older methods. they're all good. the lack of coms was ment to be an opertunity for things to go... wrong.

IC:

"you really don't need to bother. as you could see on your way in, we can navigate ok. seems the old gear and techniques arn't as obsolete as some would try and clame" Strinj laughed at the thought of the looks on the faces of those advocating the newer technology as 'more reliable'

"the only real potentual problem is that someone will shoot at us if we don't respond to hails. and if all of your counterparts are as smart as you, it'll be a non issue as well.

i do thank you for your welcome, though. too bad we won't be seeing any of the sites this time around, no?"

Suki chuckles and replies "I'll make sure that other ships further west are made aware of your presence and intentions.

Captain I do hope you can visit someday. after all our nations are at peace but I'll let you on your way home.

Have a safe journey"

that minor incident out of the way, the Luna Glory continued steaming for home.

ooc: yeah, that's all i've got :P

Suki closed the side door took off again heading west. she knew there was another patrol out here but not exactly were.

a submerged Kirisuban submarine was also out there and through the periscope Captain Kaede Sokura seen the Luna Glory two miles away from them.

She took the chance to follow them from distance which would give her crew some experience.

the exercise was continuing with the naval troops forcing a landing eventually as the army troops conducted a fighting withdrawal to where their reinforcements were.

by now the dog fighting had also finished and 4 sea tenchi's were flying around looking for reconisence on the 'enemy' units as well as noting other information.

Near Kirisuban war game
SS-67, The RNS Seawolf was on her shipping patrol. The sub was a old WWI boat, but she was a very reliable. The sub was recharging her batteries on the surface. They were far enough from the wargame to not infere but close to watch it. The captain and the men on the on watch with him watch the Kirisubans.

up in the sky above the wargames was the 2 person Tenchi seaplane.

it had a pair of machine guns in its nose and a pair at the back of the cockpit and the spotter soon seen the sub on the surface.

it flew gracefully down and overflew the submarine which it could see was flying the Brydog flag.

Since there was no state of hostilities the pilot landed in the choppy seas and pulled back the cockpit to stick his head out.

"Seawolf welcome to the Empire, how may I help you?" Flight Sgt Kenji Nakashima asked in Kirisuban as he taxied the plane over to the sub as it bobbed on its floats.
