DuResist, LifeWyze Corporation Durable Resistance Body Armour in full, is the revolution in body-armour. It was developed and tested nearly 20 months ago, however was never released outside of LifeWyze. Currently only the black ops group PSYCorps make use of the DuResist body armour, though now LifeWyze Executive Officer and majority shareholder, Sir James Irvine, has announced a plan to release it for general sale.

Comprising of layer similar to a HAZMAT suit, the DuResist suit has a base jump-suit to prevent the armour fusing to skin during extreme temperatures. The secondary layer consist of an armour under-plated Tyvek layer. Tyvek, a non-LifeWyze produced product, is comprised of high-density polyethelene fibres that will resist any biological or chemical agent currently employed in the field. Armour beneathe the Tyvek layer is 25mm thick steel plate, below which is a high-density steel mesh. Upon the hands are simple Tyvek gloves with a heat-resistant layer similar to the jump suit, whilst on the feet are similar boots, comprising of heat-resistant fibre, Tyvek layer, steel base and cover with leather.

To complement the DuResist suit, the YuResist Gas Mask, produced by LifeWyze and also previously unavailable for purchase, is also being released for sale. The original design was altered so that it would form an air-tight seal about the head, which would than be affixed to the DuResist suit through the vaccum seal. The YuResist mask covers the entire head, primarily a heat-resistant fibre about the head, followed by a Tyvek layer. The YuResist mask itself uses standard technology, with a more powerful filter, to prevent the inhalation of harmful agents. An additionally layer of armour can be purchased to affix about the head of the wearer and onto the mask, offering replacement for a helmet.

Whilst nothing has been mentioned about a release date, nor a price, it is no doubt only a matter of time.

A one inch thick steel plate?

Blimey. It can't be very easy to move in. Still, good product

Inch thick steel? You're not goin anywhere... I mean, there's no muscular augmentation involved, so it's like walking around with some SERIOUS platemail on. And a decent suit of plate is already pretty damn heavy, and rather a bit thinner than a inch. It is, on the other hand, mostly bulletproof I'd think. I doubt your generic assault rifle will be punching through it anyway...

It is true that it is very difficult to maneuver inside the armour, however, the armour has to be able to prevent penetration by average bullets to ensure that the seal is not compromised, otherwise it obviously offers no protection whatsoever. Rather this armour is designed to allow fighting throughout all conditions with the original purpose being that in the event a LifeWyze facilities is endangered, biological and chemical weapons will be used on whoever has broken in, followed by security forces who are fully protected from such substances.

On the plus side, you really are protected from almost anything whilst wearing it.

I'd say I could design a more maneuverable suit with less armour, but that puts the wearer at risk in terms of the suit being able to be breached, which then defeats the reason behind the armour. So in such a case, you're better off just buying regular body armour and a gas mask (Preferably a YuResist Gas Mask from LifeWyze, retailing at $250 USD. *grins*)

(OOC: Unfortunately I was unable to find an appropriate picture, however for anyone who has watched Resident Evil (first film), then what I envisage is a much bulkier version of the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Team outfit in that film before they started removing their masks... (Idiots). Much bulkier.

Can all orders please be posted in the LifeWyze Storefront please? I intended this more for discussion on the product. Thanks. *Smiles*)
