OOC: Retirement from NS
Sarzonia
13-08-2006, 17:11
I debated whether or not to post one of these threads because of the usual custom that people who post them come back. I also considered not posting a retirement thread because of some other issues that I decided I didn't want to get into because of the old saying "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything."
However, I've decided ultimately that it's time to leave NationStates. I've spent many hours enjoying the game and I've gotten angry at a number of things surrounding the game over the two-plus years I've played this game. It's given me a shot of confidence to know that I can write a story that people will be interested in reading and create characters that people enjoy reading.
In the last few months, however, I've spent very little time on NS that hasn't had to do with the Draftroom (http://s13.invisionfree.com/The_NS_Draftroom). A combination of a new job that's taken up a large chunk of my time and family health problems has led to my spending very little time beyond logging into my nation. More importantly, however, my desire to roleplay is at zero.
All the friends I've made as a result of this game (notably Pacitalia, Praetonia, Sanctaphrax, MassPwnage among others) have left an indelible mark. However, it's time for me to bid adieu.
Mike, the player behind Sarzonia

I may have not known you very well or all that long but the chances I have had to RP or talk with you were very much enjoyed. I'm sorry to see you go.
I'm certain your pressence here will be missed until you return once again.
Good luck in the future.
--Fedski
Well this is rather--surprising. Though if you want to return again--I highly doubt people would nag you for it.
Though I wish you the best of luck. God Bless.
Good luck with whatever you do, Mike. You will be missed.

It's never nice to see such a big name as Sarzonia leaving. I hope that someday I can be as powerful and respected as you are/were/whatever.
*Salutes*
Goodbye comrade...

It's been some great times Sarzonia. Me and almost everyone else on NS will miss you as another soldier falls. I've had some awesome chats with you on MSN and AIM and you've been a great OOC friend and an IC ally. I hope you succeed in your new job and your life. Maybe one day, you'll come back to NS (like some have), but that is up to the future.
But for now, good bye old friend. :)
I've enjoyed RPing with you, and let me express my best wishes for the future. Your absense is surely a loss to the NS roleplaying community, but your concerns are understandable and you will not be forgotten.

[OOC: Argh! No! What about Stability and Fraternity...sigh. Oh well, it's understandable Sarzonia. RL takes precedence. I hope that this retirement from NS is only temporary, and that you shall return. I'll be looking forward to it. Good luck, Sarzonia, good luck.]

Ah, well. All good things have to end, don't they? I don't really have much to say, except that we won't forget you. They've been some great times here, haven't they?

Goodbye Sarzonia, and although this might seem a couple of insensitive questions they really ought to be asked.
1) What happens to the NS Draftroom Root Moderator Account (ie Yours)
2) What is happening with PIW? Is it closing
Once again, good bye and goodluck with life

Indeed. I was going to buy something from PIW... Eventually... Someday... ;)
Seriously though, I really was probably going to buy from you once I started a navy. Damn.

Dammit.
What will happen to the PIW? They are excellent designs, and it would be a shame if they were lost.
Oh damn. Sad to see you go, good luck in everything. :)

I'll add one thing: All reasonable orders at PIW that have been made since my last confirmation post are hereby confirmed as of one RL hour after they were placed. As for PIW's fate, I haven't decided what to do with it.
Regarding the Draftroom, I'm still going to be there as administrator. If I decide to leave that, I'll consider assigning the root administrator function to someone else.

Ah damn, You were my favorite "big-time" NS player, and you were my primary supplier, not to mention you were a fair and nice guy. You will, be missed.

You could get someone to confirm orders and stuff for Portland Iron Works, (which was a great storefront, it was where I got artillery, assorted land vehicles, and small ships). You'll be missed.
Good bye. It is a shame NS is losing you, but good luck in everything.

Sarz, I never got a chance to RP with you---more then likely that is good, cant have too many old guys in one RP.
Anyway, I hope the health matters are not serious enough to be geniunely serious.
Since you are the Admin at the Draftroom I know I will talk to you again---but send me an email, Jon is helping me write and you are one of the people I would love to critique the ideas and work.
Anyway, I would be all weepy but this is after all just pretend and make believe always comes to an end.
So send me an email, maybe then I can get into a political debate with that I could not get anywhere else---later brother.
See ya mate, havn't Rp'd with you for a while, but still...

I certainly do hope you come back, Mike. You are one of the better roleplayers to have graced these hallowed halls and your style and energy will be missed. :) I respect you so much and am so proud of you for getting a job that you actually can enjoy. I consider myself one of the lucky ones that actually gets to talk to you after you leave NS. Thank you, AIM. ;)
Good luck, my friend.

This is certainly a surprise. AS always, life takes precedence over fantasy, no matter how fun that fantasy may be. The nerve of life....
Can't say that I'm excited to see you go- you'll be missed, for both your RPing and your designing. At least we still have you in the draftroom! Good luck with everything that comes after NS- and hopefully you'll find time to come back someday.

I think I'll leave you with this. I'd like to thank the master, Bob Hope, for the inspiration.
Thanks for the memory
Of RPs I can't forget
Stories you wouldn't let
Your crazy Haffner going mad
And Seaburg's crazy bet
And thank you so much
You know how to get ahold of me, Sarz.

Damn...I REALLY wanted to finish the war. Some great writing going to waste. Oh, well, we had lots of fun. As an adversary, you will be sorely missed, but I suspect I'll see you on the draftroom.

Wow, I never thought I'd see another big name go, especially Sarz. It's been great though, both in the few times I think we stood against each other on the not-so-real field of honour and the time spent on NS Draftroom (plus the interview which I particularly enjoyed taking part in).
Although we weren't really close in terms of IC or OOC, it's still saddens me to see another Oldbie go.
Godspeed, Mike.
I think "Go your own way," by Fleetwood Mac would be mildly appropriate.
Sarzonia; your characters I believed existed more than anybody else's. They jumped off the screen and became so real.

Sad to see you go Sarz. You were a great RPer and a rather good friend, although we did have our differences!. I can see where you're going with the whole 'No inspiration to RP', which I've been getting recently. Good luck in your job and I hope the family illness problems clear up. Cya around!
Maybe you could sell PIW to IPS?
Can one of my evil puppets launch a real "hostile takeover" of PIW? :P
Nah, just kidding. 'Bye Sarz, and stuff. I guess you'll be missed or something. Another good RPer bites the sub-keyboard dust....

NS will be a sadder place without you Mike, but I, for one, understand the reason behind this. Hope you have good luck in the future, regardless of whether NS is involved in it or not.:)
