A Duel Introduction (FT, Two Intros)

Space is big, infinitely so. When one imagines the universe, for the most part a Planet, a Star, a Sector, even a Galaxy is completely insignificant. That is on a Universal scale however. Only the Beyonders work at the universal scale. Most Sapients work on either the Galactic or Inter-Galactic level. Yet even at the Galactic Scale, a planet is fairly insignificant, one could be completely destroyed, utterly obliterated and only those that had a vested interest would care.

Which is why most stories don’t focus on the Galactic Level, they focus on the personal. People still write from the galactic scale, but that’s boring, we don’t care if the Galaxy has this technology, or that, the reader wants to hear about something they can relate to, someone they can understand. Which begs me to ask, would any human really wish to read from here on? I don’t tell a story on a human, I tell a story of a Valsharii, of the God Empress Anisarian Xhal’Nii’Ethi,

But then, I suppose she is still a character, not human, but defiantly not something you cannot find a nugget of Familiarity within. She can still hate, she can still fear, she can still Love. I tell you now though, those without wanting to know the habits of Valsharii Courting, never read my works, as I may have it done, from time to time.

But now we go on, to this stories beginning, actually that is a lie, we go to the beginning of a new chapter in the sprawling story that is the Life of our subject. Enough Babbling let us begin.

What I present to you is words for you to imagine, you can take as long as you want, this is written after all, and unless your connection fails, it’s not going anywhere.

Picture this, you’re in space, and before you there is the sun. Between the sun and you are three major bodies, two planets and a Pua’n’dani. The planet furthest from you, closest to the sun, has a green-blue atmosphere, and one small moon, no longer then a Click across (Not exact, but close enough). You can’t actually see the moon, because it’s so small, but it is there. Next planet is a habitable world, by stunning chance life has evolved on the planet in the form of Sapient Insect, one of those hive minds that, given the time might evolve into individual Sapients.

The third is a Pua’n’dani, from here, you’re closest to this one, but still fairly far away. It’s a giant bracelet in space, its inner surface populated and its outer surface a myriad of bays, structural supports, Rail Systems, and weapons. To you, it looks beautiful. Serene, quite, then a flash, like that would find on a Camera, another, then another. This is a battle in space. Those flashes are Conversion bombs going off. What you are witnessing is a battle, the last major battle this galaxy will ever see. Why? You will see soon, but now we got this battle to zoom to.

The Pua’n’dani is named Final Hope, (That’s incorrect, it is actually called P’Narg K’Spor, but English is much easier to type). The Reason being it is the last Pua’n’dani in the Imperia Di’or Valsharii (Empire of Valshare). It’s rigged with a generator, which is still being tweaked. So let’s get moving shall we?

=-=-=Location: Pua’n’dani Final Hope, C’Trina Imperia=-=-=

Anisarian floated above the panel, below her the great panel flared with life. Below her, Tentacles and arms moved, flicking switches, turning knobs, pushing buttons. Two of her arms secured her, so she wouldn’t float away from the panel, so vital to her people’s survival.

“Lady,” the AI’s voice came, the walls coming alive with colour as it spoke to her. “The Landers Come.” The colour, the sound, the feeling, it gave apology. “There are no more, we ran out of bodies.” Anisarian considered the screen, which switched to remote probes. The Fleetmind’s probes showed the devastation, ship after ship was rent asunder, lifeless bodies floated before the probe, willingly given away for this last chance.

“Do we have anything else?” She replied, sending back, She knew the answer, there was no doubt in her mind that anything else would dip into the precious little fleet they had on this very vessel. She flicked one switch in a semi-causal fashion, her mind went into Tac-Space, the 3d world that commanders had used for so long. She viewed she situation, the Pua’n’dani was visible, a precious thin Yellow Bracelet, while the approaching enemies where shown in Blue dots.

~So many…~ she thought to herself, looking at the approaching fleet. She took the helm of the Great Pua’n’dani, the hope relinquishing its grasp of the parts she wanted. She began throwing bombs out of her main bays, Missile/Torpedoes that threw themselves into the enemy formation, tearing apart entire formations, ships where torn apart, torn to shreds and atoms, but it wasn’t enough.

She needed more strength, her bays threw The Bombs in thousands, moving at hyper velocities (Many simply Displaced into the targets) they smashed upon the enemy, or exploded inside clustered enemy formations. But she knew she was wasting time, the Pua’n’dani was spending its energy to her project, the bombs where good, but main cannons where all offline.

“Let me take the slack” came the message, the AI of the Battle Plate Murder is the Crime.

“Your not going to do better,” she sent back, flinging another set of Bombs.

“Not in the Pua’n’dani no,” Came the smug reply. “Disengage the safeties and let me have some fun”

“Not a hope,” Came the response, sharp and harsh. “If I need to leave before you get back…”

“Then we all die,” the ship said matter of factly. “Me and my crew are obliterated, but if we are we know at least we managed to save you all, that it is us that saved the Valsharii, what more could soldiers ask for?”

“But your not Soldiers!” Anisarian said, sadness in her speech.

“That’s a lie,” the ship sent. “My crew are the definition of soldiers, I make sure of it. We would all happily die to save the rest, we would die for the greater good, but if you would give me at least 5 seconds of time to get to you before you leave? With coordinets for me to Displace myself, and I won’t get killed. Ok?”

“If you die…I will kill you” Anisarian said. “Safeties have been disengaged, go!” Instantly she withdrew herself from Tac-space and got back to the panel beneath her. She considered the screen she pictured in her mind, before moving…

=-=-=Location: Pua’n’dani Final Hope, Space Battle=-=-=

The ships floated in the void, propelling themselves towards the Giant Ring in space. They where slowing down, opening themselves into formations which wouldn’t be open to the Cluster Bombs sent out by the Pua’n’Dani. On the Bridge of the Flagship, Suffering Eternal, the members of several Races gathered.

“We are hunting them Generals,” one of them said. “We have them cornered, they have no where to run, no where else to hide.”

“Can they fight?” a General asked, a stern human, considering.

“Projections show they would have the resources to put up a fight, but so far only Bombs are being thrown in our direction.”

“Bombs…yet no Beams?” the Inlithi said. “Their planning something, the power their pumping should mean either their pumping energy into beam cannons or Field Matrix, and neither has been activated. What are they doing?”

“Sorry to disrupt,” one of them said. “Battle Plate just came into the formation, we are dropping like flies…”

The BP Murder is the Crime flashed into the middle of the Allied fleet. Microseconds later, the ship sent out a pulse, its shields momentarily ceased to exist as they extended out, ripping through the enemy ships like a knife through butter. The return salvo came only against the shields, and in perfect timing, the shields pulsed again when the enemy fire was at its slowest. More ships fell. In moments, Displacers began to snap, ships exploding in fireballs as the Torpedoes went off inside. Beam weapons swept outwards next, slicing through shields and armour, gutting entire vessels.

The Shields pulsed again, more ships failed. As the fleet focused on this new threat, the Final Hope suddenly had a power flare…

=-=-=Location: Pua’n’dani Final Hope, C’Trina Imperia=-=-=

“It’s working!” Anisarian roared, across the entire Pua’n’dani. It was sent everywhere, including to the Murder is the Crime. The Murder took that as reasoning, jumping back into its position as quickly as it arrived. The entire Pua’n’dani seemed to pulse, in a moment it was spread across the universe, then it was gone, there was no trace, except a now Faster then Light Fireball expanding outwards.

A Last present to the universe, in the end the thing would destroy the universe, but for now…for now would simply begin absorbing the local cluster. The Hive mind lasted a total of 5 seconds, the attacking fleet less.

The Pua’n’dani however arrived at a location, not a clue where mind, but that’s not for me to say.

Naggeroth, the Ball is in your court.

If a human was floating in Naggerothii space at this time, in the few seconds before his head exploded, he would see the Overlord-class Warship, Obsidian Dove. It resembles a cliche flying saucer to some degree, but about one kilometre in diameter. Its main engines are dull and lifeless, since it is propelled by the planet's orbital gravity. Our hypothetical human might find its lazy drift almost relaxing, but that's only if his brain is enough oxygen-deprived enough to not notice that its hull is bristling with guns.

As it is, our hypothetical human is only hypothetical. What is observing the Obsidian Dove is a full-scale Pua'n'dani Orbital. The Dove is staring right back.

Zoom into the command bridge. Two figures are staring at the monstrosity that has appeared in their system. One is an enormous insect, roughly seven feet tall at the shoulder and eleven feet long. It stands on four clawed feet, which are attached to long, brown armour-plated legs. Its torso is held upright, with two more limbs extending from shoulders upon which a pair of captain's epaulets float somehow. The other two limbs are much the same as the first four, but the appendages at the end more closely resemble hands. Segmented yellow eyes view the intruder out of a smooth, wedge-shaped head. Long antennae twitch as it speaks in a gutteral tone.

"Where did it come from?"

The other figure, a small black dove sitting on a floating perch, shrugs it wings.

"As far as I can tell, it's from another galaxy. Maybe even another universe. It produced a huge amount of energy in getting here, though."

"How much energy?" the bug asked.

"Don't worry your organic little head trying to comprehend it," the Dove replied "Just know that it's huge."

The insect growled. "Hail it. I'll try and see what it is and what it wants. You contact the Overlord."

The Dove nodded and disappeared. The captain stared at the Pua'n'dani and waited for the transmission to get through.

ooc: Reserving a spot, I'll edit with a post later tonight.

Edit: (in responce to below) yeah, that's what happens when you skim- you miss the fine print. I'll hold off till there's an oppertunaty.

[ooc: Not quite ready for people to appear dear. For starters, this is presently taking place in a Naggerothii system, there is no real reason for you to be in a Naggerothii system, so at the moment its just a massive energy serge inside another nations space.]

The Massive Pua'n'Dani floated in space like a massive bracelet in space. Massive is perhaps not quite enough, the Pua'n'Dani was a Orbital, like a Ringworld, but smaller, this one being only 300,000km in Diameter. The Inner Surface showed the habitable zone, desert, ocean and everything else that anyone could ever want. There where several areas of cloud cover, one of those areas was above Citadel, the great fortress, where the Remnents of the Imperial Council currently gathered.

"High Lord Marq'Or'Lorta Nai'Lor'Tri," Anisarian's voice boomed over the High Lord who stood before her. "You will control yourself or I shall be forced to make you leave!"

"My Lady, surely this worries you?" The High Lord replied, his spines raising slightly.

"Yes High Lord, it does," She said, considering the creature before her. "I worry more then you do, but the vision guides me still, so you have no fear."

"One would question," High Lord Ph'ting'Ghurl Jov'Ian'Mor said smoothly, "Weather or not your vision is still accurate, after all, how else did we end up in this mess.

"Not Meaning to intrude," the voice of the Final Hope came through. "But I think you should know we are being hailed by the system, I think it's Defence fleet, not sure though. Want me to tourch them?"

"No," Anisarian said, cutting off the Council. "You speak with them Hope, see if you can arrange a meeting."

"Of Corse God Empress." THe ship said, withdrawing from the room.

"My Lady, their Xenos! Foul Creatures the Lot of them, why would you speak to them?" High Lord Ph'ting"Ghurl said.

"There is only one Path before me I can take," Anisarian said simply. "This is it."

*Hello,
I am the Pua'n'Dani Final Hope, A Pua'n'Dani being the massive ring before you. I hate to be a bother on your systems, but I need to dump several major packets of Data to you. Hopefully this won't be a overload to your system, but if the file size is to large for you to cope with I can send it in a smaller file.

[Data_Attached]

We are the Valsharii, masters of the Imperial Hegemony of Valshare. We require to meet with your leader, to work out several oppertunities, including getting me out of your space (Or leaving it here in our space depending on how negotiations go.

Love,
Pua'n'Dani Final Hope

OOC: Valshare! Good to see you back! Of course, I have no idea who I've been talking to on MSN, so I'm unsure of whether or not I should have seen this coming... Anyway, taggage for possible participation if my schedule clears up. Will at least have to read it...

Dove stared disdainfully at the file. True, it was quite large, but he could easily store it. Well, quite easily. He might delete a few unnecessary files, just to be on the safe side. He translated the message using the language files and relayed this message to the hexton captain.

"Arrogant little Gnarr'ghda," he growled vehemently.

"Actually, sir, I think you'll find it's an arrogant big Gnarr'ghda. Very, very big."

"Intrudes on our space, insults our computing power-"

"My computing power."

"-and threatens to take our territory. Reply politely, but insult him at the same time."

"Gladly, sir."

"And have you gotten through to Overlord Divalio yet?"

"Yes. I've briefed him on the situation. He's waiting to speak to our new guests."

"Excellent," the captain said, his anger subsided. "Put me on with him."

Dove ran a message to the Pua'n'dani, translated in perfect Valsharii.

There is no problem. Where you come from, it may be considered a large file, but I have no trouble storing it. Overlord Robert Divalio awaits the pleasure of your snide remarks.

Captain Klaerech'da bowed deeply to the face that appeared on the screen. It was that of a young male human and quite handsome, in an odd sort of way. A large section of the head was replaced with metal plating and circuitry, including the right eye, which was a glowing red bionic sensor.

"It is an honour to be in your presence, sire."

"Spare me the pleasantries captain," he said, impatiently but not unkindly "Your AI has told me of the intruder into our galaxy."

"Their AI has transmitted their language files. They call themselves the Valsharii, and apparently feel they can take the system."

The cyborg becme deadly serious. "I see," he said "Put me on with them, Dove."

[ooc: Otagia, she isn't back, as I said a while back she gave up nation states and I got the nation. I gave Naggeroth to my friend, and I decided to keep this one.

OOC: Mind if I join in? New Jovia is my new nation, and as nobody has responded to my intro thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=11566931#post11566931), I thought I'd piggyback on this one (so the title should be Three Intros). The Jovian Gate (which is a one-way portal linking the universe the Jovians come from and this one, perhaps the same universe YOU come from) will open elsewhere in the system. They have four colony ships, armed only with the fruits of fifty thousand years of scientific development - ie they don't have warships, but what defenses they do have should allow them to hold you off, at least until they can flee.
