Operation Barbarossa. Hitlers bold strike against the Soviet Union, shattering the Non-Aggression Pact, and opening up a second front to his war to dominate Europe.


Millions of German men crossed over the Russian border, moving hundreds of miles inland before the Soviet Union can so much as lift a finger.


Field Marshal Fedor von Bock, commander of Army Group Central, and the effort to take Moscow. The 4th and 9th Armies, along with the 3rd Panzer group and supported by the 2nd Air Fleet, advanced steadily into Russia, ready to engage any Soviet units they came across.

OCC: I have a whole book on this, Ill control the Ruskies Southern Front
I.E. The Kiev area

I have numbers in that book so let me know if anyone needs them

I'm tempted to control the Russian North front...

Russian preparations were a mess during the early days.

Though the T-34 was available, it was in small numbers and nobody knew how to really use them in combat.
And tanks were attached to infantry in small amounts, not to meantion the Great Purges...

Standard rifle is the Moisen Nagent Carbine with some PPSh-41s entering service to replace the PPD-40.
And the PTRS-41 wasn't quite ready yet.

The PO-2 would come to importance, while the other planes would most likely be destroyed on the ground (except for a handful of very skilled pilots who are willing to get off the ground with a cold engine [and those were quickly shot down])

Sounds like fun.

Though I was almost expecting a squad level RP of some specific region...

Ok, how about this. I'll rewrite the rules from the original game, where it was supposed to be at the Army Level, but we can do it at the Squad level too. Maybe Platoon level.



I'll Rp German Forces Commander, so there is organization, and as individual soldiers. Other people, Rp squad commanders or Platoon commanders. I need someone to be Soviet Forces commander as well.


We'll do Stalingrad. I'll find a map, and post it up.

My charactor is not a platoon leader or anything like that, he is assigned to division headquarters..although he will be joining the men on the front at times...

Well, since you're supposed to be a Platoon commander, thats supposed to be a Corporal's job. You would use an MP-40, K-98, or G-43. MG-42s, though in service, are an enlisted man's weapon.

tonight I'm going to make a Stalingrad Map, since I can't find a good one online. I need a tactical map, so we can know where everyone is. The problem with our last RP.....

ok. Here it is. As commander of the German forces, my orders will be a Blue Line, and Soviet Commander, who ever you are, will make orders as a Red line. I'll demonstrate now:

A Line represents movement orders.

A Circle represents defend area orders.

a Circle with crossing lines, forming an X, represents an attack order. This is the first order I give to German commanders:

Pavlov was only promoted to platoon leader because his real Platoon leader was wounded.

He was originally instructed to assault and hold a hotel.
(that smaller rectangular building east of the triangular one between the main square and the city park)

The train station is the L shaped building southeast of the park.
