"Dobermen" IFV
Weapon Systems
OCS decided that the new "Dobermen" IFV would have superior weapons to most current IFV's. In that regard, the main weapon is a powerful 35mm Airburst machine gun. Similar to that seen on the Howler, the cannon has excellent armour pentration and Infantry supression values. In addition, it is effective against fortified postions.
Since the 35mm Airburst cannon cannot defeat heavier armour, the Dobermen was equipped with a box of Apollo missile launchers. The one on the Dobermen has eight missiles instead of the Howler's six.
Finally, a 7.62mm machine gun is reserved for the Commander. A fully automatic 40mm grenade launcher is also available.
A standard 7.62 Gattling gun with tracking defends against missile threats.
Defensive Systems
In designing armor for the Dobermen, it was very similar to the Howler.
The outer layer had standard Non-explosive Reactive Armour. The second layer has a alummium frame. The Third layer has a Honeycomb Magnesium frame. The final layer is NBC protection infused by Kevler.
Electronics
The Electronics Suite is very advanced, and borrows many items from the Howler.
A CM-19 Periscope is used as the primary viewfinder of the Dobermen. 360 degree rotation, X-ray, Infared, Night-vision and normal views. Electronic Target Finder, and laser range finder. Information about the traget is dispayed. Also Cameras are placed in critical locations on the tank allowing greater visability. In addition information is uploaded to the XM Graphic System, which displays a 3-D view to Commanders.
The Gunner has access to a quad magnifaction sight, with Target Identifcation, with laser rangefinder, and linked to XM Graphic System and the Center Fire Control Computer.
Engine Systems
The Dobermen uses a slightly smaller engine than the Howler, ensuring maximum power. It is a GP 2,100 Gasoline- Electric Hybrid. The Dobermen also has a powerful suspension system.
