New MBT Enters service
Backround
In various Wars and conflicts, The Peoples Freedom has used the M-121 "Nova" It served well, but it had become increasingly obsolete. The Peoples Freedom soon offered a contract to build a new MBT. Omega Computer Systems won the contract. They were to design a tank that could equal such greats as the Sarzonian Z-34 "Bonham" and the ST-37 Mekhev. Now, Omega believes it has created the MBT that will usher The Peoples Freedom armoured forces into a new era.
Weapon Systems
At Omega, much thought went into what the main weapon would be on the NM-19. After looking at many battle tanks, Omega decided to use the 125mm ETC gun. The 125mm was slightly larger than most MBT's cannons and was still capable of destroying enemy armour. The weapon uses what Omega calls the Coumpter Projectile Assist, it reduces recoil from the weapon and increases range.
The Secondary Weapon was important to Omega designers. Noting the usage of "Tank-CWIS" and advanced armor used by MBT's, designers knew they would need a powerful weapon. A 30mm cannon was made, but instead of using normal ammo, Air-burst ammuntion was used. Adding a very high rate of fire, the weapon proved capable of destroying APC's and IFV's as well as infantry and small buildings such as pillboxes. A .50 machine gun is the Coxial Weapon. The Tank also has a 82mm mortar for use against infantry and fortifed postions. In some varients this is replace by AA missiles. In addition, The Commander has a 12.7 mm machine gun. A 7.62 mm Gattling gun, powered by the Defreage Tracker, provides defense against enemy missiles.
Finally, AGTM's were added. Called Apollo's, the advanced Missile can power-fly at nearly Mach 7 thouge real speed is more 6.5. The weapon is KE, and provides a powerful Kinetic kill. It also has a very advanced guiding system. Also on certain tanks, the Apollo's are cut in half in size and are used as anti Missile weapons, they are capable of intercepting most missiles. The Apollos are mounted on back of the tank, in a box launcher.
Armour Systems
First, the NM-19 is protected by a Energy Dispersial System. When a high-speed weapon comes in, the metal bends and forces the round to bouce off or glance the armour. The Second Layer is a Non-Explosive Reactive Armour (NxRA) this advanced armour provides protection against HEAT rounds. The Third Layer is a Honeycomb Magnesium Armour, and provides protection against any weapon, it is superior to steel and titanium armours. The Fourth Layer Is made of Depleted Uranium and provides more protection aganist KE rounds. The Fifth and final layer provides defense from NBC using a special Alloy.
Finally, the armour under the NM-19 is reinforced in order to help the tank and crew members survive anti-tank mines.

Electronics
Omega Computer Systems is a Computer company and that is reflected in the electronics of the NM-19 which are very advanced and superior to many tanks.
A CM-19 Periscope is used as the primary viewfinder of the NM-19. 360 degree rotation, X-ray, Infared, Night-vision and normal views. Electronic Target Finder, and laser range finder. Information about the traget is dispayed. Also Cameras are placed in critical locations on the tank allowing greater visability. In addition information is uploaded to the XM Graphic System, which displays a 3-D view to Commanders.
The Gunner has access to a quad magnifaction sight, with Target Identifcation, with laser rangefinder, and linked to XM Graphic System and the Center Fire Control Computer. It also sends target information to other tanks. The Laser ranfinder finds targets in two to three seconds and displays weak-points and the suggested weapon to use. It also comes with a link-up to GPS systems and Infantry.
After much thought, Omega designers decided for the first time, not to have a loader. Instead, an autoloader would work with the Gunner and Computer systems to give the round needed. A round can be loaded in three seconds.
Engine Systems
A 2,200 Horsepower GP engine has been adapted for use with the NM-19. The combined Gasoline-hybrid engine offers Maximum results. The Engine uses Thermal Sealing to reduce noise. Maximum speed is 58mph thouge no more than 40mph is suggested in the field.
