In this thread, you control the fate of a city-state, then a country, then a planet, and soon you control the fate of the galaxy. You start your civilization as a city-state, then as your nation grows, planets become joined into a Galactic Alliance, as diplomacy or war becomes your chosen path. You must start in the Middle Ages, however your progress through the ages can go fast or slow within reason. You also have the choice to join the Alliance or be a rogue planet. I will have my own nation, and I will also give a warning to anyone who tries to become too powerful too fast. Please be cooprative. Mild cursing will be permitted, but if it gets too intense I will give you a warning. For your first post, please give a description of your nation.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The nation of Arionodor lay on a vast plain, surrounded for miles by grass. The Castle lay in the center, it's tall walls about a hundred feet high off the ground, and twenty feet thick. The construction of the walls alone took many decades, and what lay within longer. A single, large building, slightly taller than the walls, began fifty feet from the walls themselves. This was where the king and his family lived. Outside were many, much smaller buildings. This was where the peasents slept. Most peasents were farmers, but a few served as ambassadors to other nations on the planet.

(OOC: Well, I'll stick around until the Industrial Revolution...)

IC:

The sound of the oaken staffs striking the floor ressounded off the marble walls of the curia as the Senate was called to order. As the murmuring died out and all took their seats on the uncomfortable benches of white marble that matched the walls, floor and ceiling, the ancient Master of Debate leaned forward on his oaken bench that sat at the front of the semi-circular room. The two current consuls sitting at his sides on identicle benches of wood.

"The Senate recognises Aedile Aetius to speak" the low, wheezing voice of the old man announced.

A young man of about twenty-six stood from his bench in the front row of the right side. His white toga with purple embroidery around the edges showing his rank as a high level senator. Clearing his throat, he made a quick scan of the crowd, nodding at a few good friends. "Senators! I am pleased to announce that the latin state is now firmly under the control of the Senate and People of Taledon." The crowd let out their praise and began murmuring again before returning to silence to hear the rest of what Aetius had to say. "I would also like to report that the bread has been distributed to the people and they are once again fully content. The gladiatorial games are improving moral as well, and the newly built public baths are a great success." Resuming his seat to more acclaims from the Senate.

Standing, Consul Gaudentius stared the crowd to silence before beginning his address. "Very good news, Aedile Aetius, very good news. Conscript fathers, I would now like to turn your attention towards defense. The city garrison has been bolstered, and the legions are awaiting my return before moving out. I would like to once again be assured that the Senate supports this campaign against the barbarians who call themselves Arionodor." And for the last time that night the senators roared their acclaim and opinions, to the satisfaction of Gaudentius.

It was midday and the sun shone brightly on the glorious city of Taledon. The mighty river shone blue as it coarsed through the city like a vein carrying the vital life-essence to all the vital parts of the body. The curia sat in the middle of the city, the vast square before it filled with venders and shoppers. The aqueduct running over-head supplying plumbing to the many buildings of the city. Passing through the high gates of the thick stone walls of the city, Gaudentius strode his brown war-horse towards the awaiting column. Moving to the front ranks where he joined his bodyguard of thirty heavy cavalry, he lifted his arm high into the air and thrust it forward. Once again he began to move, surrounded by his guard, and followed by the army of five thousand infantry, five hundred horse, forty carriages containing the siege equipment that made up a vast part of the legion's strenght, and the other army of camp followers that was essential to all moving forces.

The GA is the name of a current alliance founded several years ago by Klonor. :o So, yeah, make some calls before you go naming things this.Actually, that name ‘Galactic Alliance’ originally came from Star Wars and a number of other sources, many of which predate the NS Galactic Alliance thus the name belongs to anyone who wants to use because it is not under any real copyright.
