Map of Algeria and Niger (with Kopparbergs' bases marked)

The troops from AAF6 in Tindouf arrived at the AAF7-base located in Tamanrasset, southern part of Algeria, in the middle of the Sahara desert. Tamanrasset is the center of the nuclear test program in Kingdom of Kopparbergs.

AAF7 in Tamanrasset has 40,000 army troops (+60,000 logistics personnel) and 20,000 air force troops (+113,000 logistics). With the reinforcement from AAF6 the active personnel increased with 50% (20,000 army troops and 10,000 air force troops, all of them with required logistics personnel). They were all ready to start Operation Dust Force.

As soon as it was dark enough, the first planes lifted from the runway. 22 MiG-29SMT and 20 F-16I were heading south south east into the black night. Just a moment later they crossed the border to Niger, but none noticed that, as they were in the middle of the Sahara desert.

The 200 Merkava MK4-tanks and 200 M60A3 tanks, together with 35 helicopters (CH-53D, each carried 55 combat ready soldiers), crossed the border to Niger one hour after the planes. At that moment the planes were at phase one's goal – the military base in Agadez.

As expected, there were no Niger-planes in the air. That's not strange as the Niger-defense has a total of 10,000 personnel, and they are very poorly financed. The nations defense budget is about 20 million USD (Kopparbergs has $99.954 million USD), and with that small amount of money it's not strange that they have got only a handful of planes.

The pilots in the F-16I's arrived to Agadez first. They saw four old planes on the ground, together with ten tanks of some odd brand. A couple of missiles made them unusable, but most likely they were already in that condition.

Two hours after the planes reached Agadez, the rotary wings reached the same destination. Ten of them landed and unloaded their troops, while the other 25 helicopters continued their flight.

Five choppers headed southwest with Tahoua as their target, ten headed south with Maradi and Zinder in their minds, while five helicopters continued south-east towards Diffa. The tanks were also heading south, but they had a couple of more hours to go before they will reach their goals.

Secret diplomatic message
To: The Emirate of Alif Laam Miim

We want to inform you that we have moved a large amount of troops, airplanes, helicopters, artillery and tanks southwards from Algeria. We have crossed the border to our south neighbor Niger. We just want to tell you that we have the situation under control, and there is nothing you should worry about, we're just securing the area from evil terrorist groups.

With respect

SIC to Kopparbergs:

We have noted the movements, and we will not interfere with the operations. Since Niger is a nation with many Muslims, we ask that you take care to the population present, to Muslims and non-Muslims alike as you purge the territory of those who would sway the infallible words of Allah for their lustful purposes.

After 24 hours of fighting (well, it hasn't been much of a fight), all five cities/villages that was included in phase two was secured. The Kingdom of Kopparbergs now has control of 60% of Niger's area, but not the western part, surrounding the capital Niamey. The eastern part without Kopparbergs' control is 99% desert and should not be any problem to take later – heck there is no people there, at least no military troops.

More reinforcements have arrived from Tamanrasset, and the building of a base camp in Maradi has begun. A couple of Hercules-planes were transporting troops, materials and ammunition to the new base in Maradi.

General Andersson on the phone from the base camp in Maradi, with the Supreme Commander:

-Yes, we have finished phase one and phase two. We have lost three tanks outside Tahoua, somehow the Nigeriens managed to put out a couple of mines there. Estimated KIA nine soldiers, WIA fifteen soldiers, nobody MIA.

-Good news my friend. But the mines were no good news. We have to send in the AMMAD-unit (OOC: info (http://www.israeli-weapons.com/weapons/mines/ammad/AMMAD.html). They will be right there in 48 hours as they are in Israel at the moment.

-Ok, meanwhile we'll fortify the base camp. Hope you can get us even more reinforcements, we'll need everything you can bring us in phase three.

- Yes I know. Everything is under control my dear.

SIC to Alif Laam Miim:

We will, as always, take care of the population in Niger. They are the people of our governorate number four, and they deserve to be treated with respect.

Phase three
15 helicopters escorted by 8 F-16I's headed towards Niger's capital Niamey. There were, believe it or not, actually a couple of SAM-missiles fired from one air defense installation outside Niamey. All of them, but one, where shot down by the pilots. One of the missiles managed to hit one F-16 though, which exploded in a large ball of fire. The pilot didn't manage to shoot himself out of the plane.

With two Popeye Light missiles, fired from two different F16's the air defense installation was taken out of order. The helicopters landed and the troops (around 800) immediately begun to secure the area in an around Niamey.

One of the helicopters landed outside the TV-broadcasting company. The ran into the house and started to take over everything. Half an hour later a pre-recorded message from Kopparbergs was broadcasted over the complete nation of Niger:

This is King Carl Gustaf XXI of Kopparbergs speaking. Your nation has been invited to be a governorate in the Kingdom of Kopparbergs. Your government has accepted this invitation as they are convinced that everybody's standard of living will be much better under the flag of Kopparbergs. We will ensure that everybody has fresh water and food. We will ensure you that no one should be unemployed – and at last but not least, we will protect Niger from being invaded by some evil dictator.
Welcome to the Kingdom of Kopparbergs! Niger is hereby declared as Governorate number four of the Kingdom of Kopparbergs!

While the message was broadcasted, three hundred troops stormed the Parliament of Niger.

With the Niger parliament under control, Kopparbergs installed a new governorate leader in Niger. The people of Niger seemed to take the occupation by Kopparbergs with a smile on their lips. They were given food and fresh water in big quantities, and many of them had enough to eat for the first time in ages.

Kopparbergs' military personnel continued to escalate in Niger, most of them were stationed along the southern border to Nigeria.

As on a given signal (surely there was one), large quantities of airplanes and tanks crossed the border to Niger! Phase four in Operation Dust Force has begun...

Nigeria has a much more sophisticated defense compared to Niger, but nothing to talk about compared to the resources of Kopparbergs' Royal Military Service. Nigeria's defense budget is
$470 million USD, Kopparbergs' about 200 times bigger with nearly $100.000 million USD annually.
According to Mossad (The Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations in Kopparbergs)
the Nigerian armed service has 76,000 personnel (army 60,000, navy 7,000, air force 9,000). The Air force flies transport, trainer, helicopter, and fighter aircraft, but most are currently not operational.

The airplanes, both F-16'As and F-16I's, reached the city of Kano within 20 minutes, without being disturbed on their way. The fired many missiles at the military base just outside the city, and managed to destroy most of the Nigerian's important equipment. Kano is the most important city in the northern part of Nigeria, and because of that is was an easy decision to capture Kano first.

Outside the Nigerian coastline Kopparbergs had two Kilo-class submarines. They were at periscope deep, a couple of kilometers from the city of Lagos – the former capital of Nigeria and the biggest city in the country.

Since the empire of Mauiwowee fell apart a couple of years ago, the maintenance of the military equipment in Nigeria has decreased to nearly zero. The soldiers training has been limited to simple war games out in the fields and deserts, nearly without equipment. Now, when it's not a simple war game, this is real, the soldiers really don't know how to act. They haven't used their planes and tanks for so long time, only about 20% of their already small stock worked. But they are a lot more soldiers than in Niger.

The tanks entered the streets of Kano. Helicopters landed all over the city (at least at ten different locations) and unloaded troops and equipment.

Reinforcements from Israel (40,000 marines) and Algeria (60,000 marines) have arrived to the base in southern Niger, and they began to advance southwards.

Out in the sea the two Kilo-class boats from the Algerian Navy had fired three missiles at military installations around Lagos. They also had sunk two Nigerian navy ships, likely one cruiser and one patrol boat.

Contrary to the occupation of Niger, the troops headed for the capital, Abuja, before having the rest of the country under control. But the capital of Nigeria is not the biggest city in Nigeria, most of the population lives along the coast.

In the city of Kaduna there was heavy backfire from some kind of artillery. Five Merkava-tanks was lost, and ten soldiers lost their lives. In Zaria there was no resistance made by the Nigerians. "Kaduna must wait until we have proper equipment to defend our forces", said General Andersson to the Supreme Commander. He agreed to that, and immediately ordered a group of SPYDER's to Kaduna. An option was to make a big air strike, but they didn't want to take the risk of loosing more airplanes.

In Zaria, captured a couple of days ago, the domestic Zaira airport was now being used to fly in equipment and reinforcements. Helicopters flew away from Zaira, fully loaded, and troop transport planes, such as Hercules' and Arava 202's. The distance from Tamanrasset to Zaira was about the max range the Arava could manage (1.306 km), so the Arava's had to refuel in Zaira before they turned back to Tamanrasset.

The plan now was to first blow up the artillery installations in Kaduna, and then take the city. After that, the tanks would surround the capital Abuja, and enter the city from four directions simultaneously.

---

Meanwhile, the King was on the phone with the elected president in Benin, Nigeria's western neighbor:

-OK, it's a deal. We can use the port in Cotonou to refuel and fill up the refrigerators in our two submarines. And we will promise to protect the nation of Benin from any hostile countries. We will not cross the border to Benin without your given order, and only in case to defend the country from a third part.

-Yes, I agree to that. answered the president. He was really happy to have the King's word on not to attack Benin. Every newspaper in Benin was almost only writing about the war in Nigeria. Everybody was afraid of Kopparbergs, and wondered when they will attack Benin. Now the president felt very relieved.

The distance between Lagos and Cotonou is just about 110 km, and a couple of missiles have been fired at Lagos from the submarines. It's not strange that the people in Benin were afraid of the war.

The artillery installations in Kaduna were hit by heavy fire from the Nimrods fired from Kopparbergs positions outside the city. The Nigerians managed to answer the fire a couple of times, but the SPYDERs did their work and shot down the missiles. Unfortunately Kopparbergs used a little too much firepower and three large civilian high-rise buildings were hit.
With the Kadunian artilleries out of order, the city was in Kopparbergs hands.

---

In Lagos a new step was made by Kopparbergs – marine soldiers were paradropped in and around the city. Kopparbergs has air superiority above the complete nation of Nigeria, but every Arava-plane was escorted by 2-3 Lavi-fighters. Each Arava plane dropped 17 fully equipped paratroopers, and there were 10 Arava's flying back and forth to Lagos.

---

Telegram to General Andersson from the Supreme Commander:
"You cannot have any more reinforcements, you must finish your mission with your existing troops and equipment. We're having a situation in Saudi Arabia, and the reinforcements meant for Nigeria is now located in the northern part of Saudi Arabia."

---

Outside Abuja the tanks had closed the city, no one could leave or enter the capital.

A total of 850 parachute troops have landed in Lagos the last 24 hours. Together with Kopparbergs' air superiority the city began to fell, and were in Kopparbergs' hands 48 hours after the first parachute landed in the city. Lagos military strength was on the navy-side, but the two submarines easily eliminated that. And the navy was only strong on a Nigerian scale, not compared to other navies.

Kopparbergs did still not control Abuja. The government was relocated to a bunker, heavily fortified by many soldiers.

With the help from 900 marine soldiers and 250 soldiers from the Special Elite Force in Tunisia the fortified bunker in Abuja was stormed. There were heavy fighting, and a lot of soldiers were killed in action. After 11 hours the marines and SEF-soldiers was arresting every member of the Nigerian government. The crime they were accused of were ignoring every human's right, because they were arresting people with the wrong religion or with wrong opinions. And as they are having death penalty in Nigeria, many innocent people have died, especially since they only have trials when the jury thinks it's necessary. When they accuse someone they can judge someone without a trial, even to death penalty.

All the arrested members of parliament were brought away and transported to a base camp outside Abuja. They were divided in groups of five (they were 43 in total), and later transported to the airport outside Abuja, for further transportation to Algeria.

Three hours after the members of parliament were arrested a public broadcast was sent, both in radio and TV, as well as by loudspeakers in large cities under Kopparbergs control:

Dear fellow Nigerians. The suffer is over. We, The Kingdom of Kopparbergs, have arrested 43 members of the Nigerian parliament. We're accusing them for crime against human rights. They will be put on trial in Algiers, and they can expect hard judgments. The dictatorship is over, we will introduce democracy in Nigeria, and every adult will be able to vote. Even women. Even muslims and jewish people. Every single adult! We welcome you to the Kingdom of Kopparbergs! We will now begin our work with restoring law and order in this new democracy.
The government of Nigeria will be located in the former capital of Laos.

We will not give these criminals any other treatment than ordinary criminals. However, we haven't decided if we need to set up an international jury for this case. We're still considering that option.
