OOC: Queries over the Union can be made here.
IC: In a historic move today, the two seperate factions of the Roman Empire have agreed to mend their differences and re-unite the Empire for the first time since 751.
The union- between Western Rome and Doomanum, born of the East's remnants- effectively creates a tight confederation with the two units retaining complete local autonomy but divesting the "major"- or "international" decisions with the Capitol at Rome. This means that entering into any new trade agreements or new alliances will be left with the Capitol, but laws concerning highways and press will be left with the internal governments as they so choose.
"This is a very important day," said Western Roman Emperor Valerius IV Maderia. "Romans everywhere have sought the day when the West and East could mend their differences and now we can say we've hit that happy medium."
Celebrations were touched off in the streets of Rome itself upon receiving the news, which will be marked as a national holiday in the Imperial Republic. The union will take effect immediately, with the Charter to be released in the coming days.
