Avian Flu sweeps through the world. Due to the mountainous regions of Turkey, most are spared but several Kurdish areas are hit badly

Kurdish regions in Turkey begin to flare up as the Kurdish Liberation Front (KLF) attacks military bases, police stations, schools, power sations, and other installations. Turkish troops pour into Kurdistan

A right-wing, secular, nationalist President is elected after the previous government fails to stop the fighting. 150,000 Turkish troops are sent to Kurdistan

Union party passes the Loyalty Act, requiring all members of Parliament, the military, and civil service to swear loyalty to the government. Several thousand Civil Servants and Military members refuse and are drummed out of their respective jobs. Figthing in Kurdistan reaches the high point, with nearly 90,000 Kurds and 10,000 Turks killed or wounded. KLF is pushed back

Kurdish Casulaties reach 175,000 and Turkish casualties reach 35,000 as the KLF becomes brutal (kills anyone they believe disloyal, force entire villages to join them), Kurds hamered back into several small pockets. The Union party achieves a Two-Thirds majority in Parliament and grants the President emergency powers. A military build-up commences.

-2012: Year of darkness. Recently pacified Kurdish regions flare up again, forcing the Turkish government to commit a total of 350,000 troops to the region (including those already there). KLF forces begin suicide bombings and terror attacks against Turkish civilians, prompting brutal responses from Turkish troops. "Vengenance" Battalions are formed consisting of loyal, well trained troops to do the governments dirty work. Kurdish casualties reach 400,000, Turks reach 60,000 (including civilians)

The Union part outlaws all other parties in Turkey, and Vengenance battalions arrest thousands in the middle of the night. Riots occur across Turkey, but a wave of suicide bombers steels the country (suicide bombers being prompted by Turkish troops) The last pockets of KLF resistance are wiped out, and 75,000 Kurds are driven out of the country.
