OOC: You may know me already as the Zombie Alliance, a nation with whom I learned the hard way that a lot of people just are not willing to RP with a nation full of magicians and necrogods, due to "blah, blah, blah, 'realism' blah, blah blah, 'I don't get it' blah, blah, blah." So, this seems like a good way to introduce my

NEW, NOT MAGICAL-GODMOD NATION!!!THE GREY MARSH!!!

The Grey Marsh is located off the coast of Florida, and is home to a primitive society known as the Marshlings, who are usually stereotyped as barbarians and savages. The marshlings live in towns suspended over lakes by wooden poles, with the buildings connected by rope bridges. These settlements are known as Waterstillts, and are used because they are difficult for rival Marshling tribes to attack.

Since their bad experiences with Spanish missionaries in the fifteen and sixteenth centuries, the Marshlings have intentionally cut themselves off from foreign influence. Recently though, a revisionist Marshling chieftan named Alabaster has taken over most of the Grey Marsh, and for the first time in hundreds of years, foreigners will not be greated by angry cries of "GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!"

To nations of the world:

For many moons, the people of the Great Grey Marsh have lived in this land, not knowing or caring for the outside world. Now this changes. My name is Alabaster, the new King of the Marshlings, and I say now that our arms are open in friendship. The Grey Marsh wishes to open diplomatic relations with foreign lands. Ambassadors may be recieved at Llaundres Waterstillt, at this (http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g251/SunMoon_Emperor/florida.jpg) location.

Her Royal Highness Maria, by the Grace of God, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg and Toremal, Duchess of Nassau, Princess of Bourbon of Parma, Countess Palatine of the Rhine, Countess of Sayn, Königstein, Katzenelnbogen and Diez, Burgrave of Hammerstein, Lady of Mahlberg, Wiesbaden, Idstein, Merenberg, Limburg and Eppstein was reading yet more dispatches when the message about Grey Marsh came through.
She reached for the antiquated telephone and picked it up. It was a single line to the Madame Minster of the Diplomatic Corps.
'Your Royal Highness?'
'We require you to send a dispatch to Grey Marsh requiring more information before we can acknowledge them at Toremal Square.'
'Consider it to be sent, Madame Toremal.'
She turned back to her desk, to deal with that matter of the departure of her sister into exile with that nation whose name she just couldn't remeber. If only that was so easy...

Bat-in-the-Night ran up the bridge to King Alabaster's home. Two spear-holding guards stood at the door. "I need to speak with the king; I have an important message from Chief Saltwater of the Edhet."

One of the guards shook his head. "The king is busy on the other side of the waterstillt. You will have to-"

His statement was cut short, and he turned his attention to something behind Bat. The messenger turned and saw King Alabaster walking towards them, "My business is done, Blue-Star; what does he want?"

Bat-in-the-Night spoke to the eleqently(by Marshling standards) dressed, man in his early thirty's. "Saltwater is chieftan of the Edhet Tribe again, and they will be attacking within the week."

Alabaster sighed. "Very well. At least Saltwater has not become such a coward that he will not even tell someone when he is going to attack. Tell him that we will be waiting." It was typical Marshling proceedure: one chieftan announced to another that his tribe would attack, so that the enemy can be prepared and the battle can be fair. Alabaster, however, would have to make Saltwater realize that he was not just a chieftan.

Bat-in-the-Night ran off in the direction of the docks to return to his tribe. Blue-Star, the guard, addressed the king. "This is bad."

"This is to be expected," Alabaster replied, "There has been an unusual amount of change in the Marsh these past moons. Some will resist; we must prove our resolve stronger than theirs."

"Alright ladies and gentlemen, we have a golden oppertunity before us..." Minister Fernando announced triumphantly, flicking the projector on "The Grey Marshes have opened their borders for the first time in over a century, and with it, one of the largest, un-tapped oil reserves on the globe."

"And what, exactly, can we give them to trade? the are a primitive nation, they have no use for our lumber, our minerals or our uranium" inquired a senator dully "We can't just ask for rights to mine for oil without giving something back!"

At this, Master General Koivisto, Chief of military staff stood up from his chair.

"It is no secret that king Alabaster is having trouble holding authority over his lands... so we miust offer him something that will allow hm the strength to unite his people..." the tall man said, dipping his officer's cap a bit lower "we can provide his people with arms, equipment and training in exchane for rights to some of the oil on the coast and in some of the thicker marshes"

"That's MADNESS!" the Senator roared, "What's to stop these people from using our own wepons against us!?"

"BECAUSE, Senator, Alabaster knows full well that while he will have to fight us on the ground for months to gain any success, we can simply bomb his entire nation to a big glass crater in a fortnight if we so desired" Koivisto barked "We are not here simply for the oil, we're here to develope a nation, and don't you forget that!"

The room fell deathly silent.

Leting out an exasperated sigh, Fernando flicked the projector off and hit the lights.

"Meeting adjourned."

Got my attention

IC: Claudius Griffincrest was reading the paper when the name Grey Marsh came screaming off of the pages. "Cornelius! We have oil!" Mr. Griffincrest sang out merrily. "Yes sir, how many men should we send?" Cornelius relpied. "Hmm...very primitive...lets say, four choppers, 50 men, 5 attack boats? Yes, that sounds good."

It was not long before the first black hawk helicopter was ober they Grey Marsh, blasting its propaganda of "We come from the Griffincrest Corporation. We want to help you, just show us your oil"

"My king," said Blue-Star as he walked into the hut, "The Griffincrest Corporation has sent some flying vehicle to communicate with us, but they are, ah...at the wrong Waterstillt."

Alabaster looked up curiously, "Where are they?"

"At the Edhet tribe stronghold."

"We come from the Griffincrest Corporation. We want to help you, just show us your oil"

Saltwater stared up at the machine for a moment in awe, then swore under his breath. "Foreign scum."

He looked down from the Waterstillt at the small militia he had gathered as they stopped their business and looked up. "INVADERS!" cried the xenophobic chieftan, "FIRE THE CANNONS!"

The warriors ran to their posts, and three large, red flares shot up at the sky at the helicopter. "FIRE AGAIN!" And they did.
