The past events (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=413381&page=40):
http://digilander.libero.it/cuoccimix/zis101stalin.jpg

Milan Srecko traveled to the Curia in Beograd. Once there, he announced to the public the results of a Senate meeting:

"Vrana vrani oči ne vadi! Ptica ranoranilica prva crva nađe! Te morati sećati se! Gvožđe se kuje dok je vruće! Ružnoj devojci ogledalo krivo!"

At the moment, the Serbian Army was mobilizing in Serbia.

OOC:

"Trust yourself and your horse! One who gets up early is doubly lucky! You must remember! Iron is worked when it's still hot! An ugly girl blames the mirror!"

The assault force began a massive movement towards the Serbian-Bosnian border.

"The Republican Republic of Great Romeo has issued a declaration of war on the Military Dictatorship of Vineyard."

IC:

As is Great Romeoian tradition, the assault force was massive, and would quickily overwhelm any resistance in the former Vineyardian lands.

The force consisted of the bulk of the Great Romeoian army:

1,500 2S7 203-mm Self-Propelled Guns
15,000 FA-29K tanks
5,000 FA-22K tanks
100,000,000,000 soldiers (each with an AK-103 Assault Rifle and a RPG-22)

The supreme commander of this operation is General Drago Nebojsa Pavle Borislav Jovanović, a native and patriot of Serbia.

He ordered a massive shelling of Sarajevo before any ground forces enter the city. He wanted fire to rain down on Sarajevo all night. Then the ground forces would enter the city.

OOC:

Hold up, Great Romeo... 100 million soldiers? I find that hard to believe.

We're just about to go on the RL population (with boosted pops based off the CIA factbook). Basically look up the RL populations of your nations you do own and add all of them up, and then multiply that by 150% or 1.5 (European population cap) to get your maximum population in Earth V.

That's not even my whole army. :) I thought something was wrong when I typed that, but I suck at math, so I ignored it.

After all, it's from my official military declaration. If you don't mind, I would really appreciate it if you would audit my declaration for problems. I'm supposed to have a massive military with poor logistics, but maybe it's a oversized a little too much? ;)

Looking over these figures again, I realized its 100 billion soldiers, not 100 million. o_O

Anyways, Great Romeo, check out this post.

All you have to do is add up your RL territories populations according to the CIA Factbook, then multiply it by 1.5 as you're in Europe. Then use your new population and divide it by your NS nation's population (suppose your new Earth V population is 200 million... divide 200 million by your 5 billion Great Romeo NS population). Then multiply that result with all your NSEconomy budgets (defense, education, police, etc.) to get your Earth V budgets.

After that's done, you can redistribute your military according to that new figure.

OOC: Ummm.... I just lost 88% of my military.

IC:

0.316234475 million men total are on the operation towards Sarajevo. 0.2 million men are combat soldiers, the rest are manning the equipment.
Sistan

"0.316234475 million men..."

...Given that .316234 million is 316,234, how do you have .475 of a man? >_>

OOC: (hopefully my last OOC post in this thread)

Great Romeo, check this post out. It should explain my realism rule much more clearly. Keep in mind, even though you take a hit in population, EVERY nation in Earth V will take similiar hits, so you don't really lose much. Besides, once you conquer the Balkans, you GAIN more population and become more powerful.

The Democratic People's Republic of Indochina highly condemns the colonialist actions of the dirty imperialists of Great Romeo. We are severing diplomatic relations, as we do not want any thing to do with these disgusting colonialists.

"We are merely reuniting the Balkans! For a great period of time Serb minorities lived as foreigners in the states outside of Serbia in the Balkans. As the Serbian proverb goes, 'Kad mačke nema, miševi kolo vode' ("When cat is absent, mice dance"). Now the minorities will achieve the respect they deserve! We are severing diplomatic relations with your government and their paranoid anti-Serb views!"

The rain of fire fell down on the city's suspected remaining ex-Vineyardian forces, with the help of General Drago Nebojsa Pavle Borislav Jovanović's contacts in the Great Romeoian government who had contact with the close Great Romeoian neighbor of Vineyard.

But in the morning, Jovanović woke to a surprising news from one of the artillery commanders.

"Sir, we are out of all artillery shells, sir!"

"Did you call the Ministry of War?" he replied.

"Sir, they gave us all that they had for our operation, sir! We must wait until tomorrow, sir!"

In that case, he thought, his forces might as well lay siege to the city...

The forces would divide up and block major access roads to the city.

IC:

Great Romeoian Senate Resolution 2006-3 ("The Countryman Act of 2006")

Concerning the needs to expand our territory,

Alarmed by possible attempts by treacherous foreigners to dispute our rule,

Reminding that Serb minorities have suffered as foreigners in the past in foreign states in the Balkans,

Concerned by rogue Vineyardian forces in newly liberated areas,

Hereby,

Strongly condemns the flagrant actions of Democratic People's Republic of Indochina;
Orders the use of Serbian police forces as a vehicle for integrating the Balkans after military liberation.

General Jovanović ordered the seige of Sarajevo to go into the next stage: snipers would take positions from several positions, to elminate any remaining Vineyardian resistance, using RPG-22s.

After days and nights of almost constant RPG fire from the hills surrounding the city, General Jovanović gave the order for the rest of the city to be taken over. Serbian militia forces would occupy the newly conquered areas per the Countryman Act of 2006.

5,000 soldiers armed to the teeth with RPG-22s and AK-107s boared onto 200 BTR-60PB APCs and 200 BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles. They would cover the area around Sarajevo International Airport and southern Sarajevo. 100 T-80U main battle tanks and 30,000 soldiers with AK-107s would provide cover.

500 M-84 main battle tanks would breakthrough the newly destroyed areas the RPG fire opened up in the middle of the city, with cover from 60,000 soldiers with AK-107s. They would advance north from there.

Meanwhile, the whole Great Romeoian Air Force was in the air. 60 G-4M Super Galeb fighter-bombers were in the air, with escorts protection by 30 MiG-29 FULCRUM fighters, electronic jamming provided by one Tu-22P, and the support of three Ilyushin Il-78 Midas tankers. They were on their way to attack key Vineyardian strongeholds in Croatia.

The air strike went well. Each squadron (3 squadrons consisting of 4 flights consisting of 5 G-4M Super Galebs, a total of 20 per squadron) of the G-4M Super Galebs attacked key Vineyardian bases in Croatia. Each Galeb successfully launched its Grom-B air-to-surface TV-guided missiles at the target and went on to attack another target for a total of 20 launches per target (a total of 6 targets, including governmental buildings in Zagreb).

Vineyardian defenses were heavily reduced from the height of the Vinyardian "empire." Only one SAM site (which was protecting the government buildings in Zagreb) was on-line at the time, but was jammed by our Tu-22P before launching.

The total impact of the damage is unknown at this time.

We see that the reunification is still proceeding in the Balkans - we wish to know if the Great Romeo requires any noted assistance in quelling the Vineyardian resistance - although we cannot guarantee any notable assistance; we only offer this out of the interest to see peace return to the Balkans.

IC to Alif Laam Miim: We know our former Balkan friend Vineyard quite well. So well, in fact, that we are not having any problems targeting Vineyardian forces.

IC:

The Battle of Sarajevo is now over. Vineyardian forces were unprepared for the attack and cut off from supplies due to the earlier blockade.

Minor small arms fire was reported by the tank crew in the central part of the city, but the three rogue Vineyardians responsible were soon detained when a group of soldiers armed with AK-107s found them.

In other parts of the city, little resistance was noted. The only exception was Sarajevo International Airport. Three Vineyardian main battle tanks and thirty Vineyardian soldiers armed with GSR36-A1 .50 assault rifle/machine guns were guarding runway 30, and opened fire to engage our forces advancing toward the north side of the airport. 25 T-80U main battle tanks and 30 BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles returned fire from the north, while 25 T-80U main battle tanks and 60 BMP-1 engaged the Croats from the west. After minutes of intense firing from both sides (several shots missed their targets), all Vineyardian forces were eliminated while 3 T-80U tanks on our side were severely damaged and sent to Serbia for repairs.

Some of the Serbian policies forces are now on their way to encourage the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to act peacefully. The rest of the attack force is advancing towards the border with Croatia.

Secret IC:

General Jovanović sat in his command tent, and was describing the advance to his fellow military officers:

"I just got off the telephone with Senator Milan Srecko in Beograd. We have big plan. Very big plans indeed. Here's how it's going to work...

Battle Group One will consist of 5,000 soldiers armed to the teeth with RPG-22s and AK-107s boared onto 200 BTR-60PB APCs and 200 BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles. This time, they will not have heavy armor protection; we have reason to believe the Vineyardians only have very few operational tanks left due to maintainance costs. But they will be protected, once again, by 30,000 soldiers with AK-107s.

Battle Group Two will consist of 500 M-84 main battle tanks and 60,000 soldiers with AK-107s, but this time also 100 T-80U main battle tanks.

Battle Group One will advance to take Dubronik from the border, then advance north to take Split and Zadar. Following the capture of Zadar, they will continue north to take Rijeka and Pula.

Battle Group Two will take over Zagreb by advancing from the Serbian border with Croatia, and will proceed to Rijeka.

Here's the shock: At Rijeka, the Battle Group One will load up onto Serbian Navy destroyers [OOC: Really just civilian ships with missiles remember] and will land at and take Sicily. Battle Group Two will proceed north to take Slovenia, then west across the Italian border to take Trieste, Veerona, Milan, Turin, Genoa, Bologna, Ravenna, San Marino, Florence, and Livorno. Battle Group Two will proceed after taking Sicily to take Reggio di Calabria, Messlna, Taranto, Bari, Salerno, Naples, and Rome.

This plan starts now, gentlemen. Brief your men, and let's go! By noon [OOC: Morning time EST] I want Osijek and Dubrovnik taken!"

Secret IC:

Dubrovnik and Osijek were both indeed taken by noon as requested by General Jovanović.

Osijek was a quiet city, with only five quickly captured militia members in the city center as the forces advanced through the city proclaiming Croatia belongs to Great Romeo. After the battle group took the city, they proceeded to capture the small city of Vukovar.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/94/Main_street%2C_Vukovar.jpg/250px-Main_street%2C_Vukovar.jpg
(Vukovar after the brief entrance by our forces to find any Vineyardian rogues.)

The battle group then headed to west to Sistak, to get there approximately 6 hours later (OOC: 6:00 EST).

But Dubrovnik was a bit tougher. At the crack of dawn the battle group advanced into the city, at first meeting little resistance in the historic city. But they knew it was a central location of Croatian intelligence, so there must be some forces hiding somewhere.

There were indeed. One BTR-60PB APC was destroyed by explosives as it passed a building in the central part of town, and a firefight broke out. Ten Vineyardian special forces soldiers were firing from a vantage point on top of a building with GSR36-A1 assault rifle/machine guns on bipods. But unfortunately for them, 3 BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles fired their cannons at them and blew the roof off the building with them. The rest of the city was captured at ease, and the battle group began their travel up the coast to their next target, estimated to arrive there in five hours (OOC: 5:00 PM EST).

Per the Countryman Act, Serbian police occupied all captured cities.
Great Romeo
12-08-2006, 23:37
Battle Group One reached Split on schedule. Just like as in Sarajevo, Vineyardian forces were concentrated at the Split Airport. But this time, a BMP-1 elminated the lone Vineyardian tank with a shot at the weak rear armor before it had time to react. A brief firefight followed with thirty Vineyardian soldiers at the airport, but the soldiers surrendered when the APCs advanced towards them. They were all captured, as was the rest of the city without incident. Battle Group Two was now on their way to Zadar.

Battle Group Two also reached their destination on target. But unlike Split, there was no major incident in Sistak. However, two Croats were detained when they threw fruit and yelled anti-Serb slurs at a tank. The battle group was now on their way to Zagreb.
Great Romeo
13-08-2006, 02:02
Just like Vukovar, Zadar was deserted of any rebel fighters. It appeared that the some of the rebels at Split Airport left from nearby Zadar to better defend Split. So, the forces continued on to Rijeka.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/8/86/Zadar.jpg/300px-Zadar.jpg

Meanwhile, the fighting in Zagreb was coming to a close. As our forces entered into the city, they came under almost constant small arms fire from rooftops. But the T-80U tanks from further down the streets (so their angle of fire could be at the roof) annihilated the soldiers on rooftops with ease, as they had no armor piercing weapons.

However, the real fighting broke out in the city center. Five Vineyardian main battle tanks and several dozen machine guns ontop of buildings opened fire on our M-84 main battle tanks. The M-84 main battle tanks returned fire in the battle, which lasted for several minutes as our soldiers on the ground sniped the soldiers on roof. At the end, all Vineyardian soldiers were killed and the five tanks were destroyed.

After the battle group regroups in the city center, they will proceed to Pula.
