Official Solicitation For Bidding

The Armed Forces of Rosdivan, having found deficiences in its current weapons, seeks bids from manufacturers willing to supply weapons which will remedy these flaws.

The first item requested is a new battlerifle, of a caliber no smaller than .223 and no larger than .308. It must provide semiautomatic fire and accurate aimed fire out to at least 500 yards. A total of one hundred million rifles, along with domestic production rights for both the rifle and the ammunition, will be purchased.

The second item requested is a new medium self-propelled gun. It is to be of a 6" caliber (152.4mm) and no more than 30 tons weight. Rate of fire is of the utmost importance, and it is suggested that a magazine system similar to the Swedish Bandkanon be used. The quantity ordered will be in the low to mid thousands.

Pale Rider Arms would happily supply your nation with the latest in small arms, the M25 HVAR. With integral smartgun system, the weapon's accuracy is excellent, a trained operator finding it nearly impossible to miss out to 100 meters, even when firing from the hip. The built-in grenade launcher allows excellent capabilities even against hardened targets. While recoil is high, PRA deems this an adequate trade-off for its excellent armor penetration capabilities.

M25 HVAR

UGL Barrel Length: 214mm
Cartridge: 6mm x 50mm high velocity caseless, 30mm grenade
Muzzle Velocity: 5000 fps
Ammuntion: 60 6mm, 6 30mm grenades
Modes of Fire: Safe, Semi Auto, 3 round burst, full auto, grenade
Mass (Empty): 4.1 kg
Mass (Fully Loaded): 6.42 kg
Features: Recessed top mounting rail, integral smartgun system
Cost: 2700 USD (includes set of smartgun goggles)

The successor to the popular M22 series HVAR, the M25 was designed as a lighter version of the M22, while maintaining its accuracy and firepower. In order to meet these goals, a bull-pup configuration was adopted, shrinking the over all size of the weapon. The 40mm grenade launcher was replaced with the smaller 30mm variant, not only reducing weight but increasing logistical efficiency, as it shares its ammunition with the GL series of launchers. Other features were improved, notably the addition of a full integral smartgun system, as well as a large magazine.

The Royal Ordnance Company plc would be most interested in responding to your inquiry; unfortunately for the moment the current production rifle for the Royal Armed Service of the United Kingdom features ammunition beyond the range specified. However, should the Rosdivan government be interested in a rifle firing a .334 caliber round the L62 would aptly fit your specifications, recent combat in the Royal Crown Colony of New Albion demonstrating that in the capable hands of a trained infantryman the rifle can successfully engage targets at distances of near 6-700 meters. Or perhaps as an alternative, the Royal Ordnance Company could design a variant of the L62 to fit the ammunition requirements of the Armed Forces of Rosdivan

Crookfur Consutlancies are proud to present to you for your evaluation, the MOST outstanding firearm availble today, the SX23A1:

SX23A1 Caseless Assault rifle

http://www.meatballs.terminator.org.uk/crookfur/images/SX23A1basic.jpg

Round: 6.6x48mm Caseless
Rate of fire: 800rpm
Barrel length: 550mm
Rifle twist: 1/5.5inchs
Overall length: 1190mm (stock extended)/ 940mm(stock folded)
Weight (gun empty): 3.8kg
Magazine capacity: 30rounds
Fire modes: Safe/Semi/Full Auto

Mechanism description:
Uses a falling breach block mechanism, similar to that of the Steyr ACR and G11 PDW. From an empty, uncocked gun the magazine is inserted and the charging handle worked. This lowers the breach block and pushes a round backwards from the magazine, when the round has been fed the breach block is moved upwards into the firing position in line with the barrel and the hammer cocked, the gun is now ready for firing. On pulling the trigger the hammer is released firing the round and a portion of the propellant gas drives a gas blow back mechanism to lower the breach block, load it, raise it and recock the hammer. A portion of the propellant gas is also used to drive forward a weighted piston under the barrel, the movement of this piston is synchronised with the main mechanism and is designed to counteract the recoil forces generated by the rearward movement of the mechanism. A further device is installed so that when a magazine runs dry the weapon mechanism pauses with the breach block in the down position and the feeding leaver ready to load another round, on insertion of a fresh magazine the loading action is completed. This “hold open” system can be disengaged by working the charging handle to uncock the weapon In the event of a misfire or dud the unfired round is pushed out of the rear of the chamber and ejected from the bottom of the weapon by a manual cocking of the weapon.

Rifle Construction:
Most of the body is manufactured from high grade polymer with most components of the mechanism being milled from steel or high grade titanium alloys, the barrel consists of a lightweight titanium overwrap with a Molybdenum-Rhenium (Mo-Re) liner for increased service life and general wear resistance.

Gun Features:
The SX23A1 features a highly effective muzzle brake which acts to reduce felt recoil by as much as 35%, this combined with the “balanced” action system and the already acceptable recoil forces of the ammunition make the rifle very comfortable to shoot. In terms of modularity the SX23A1 features the latest version of Crookfur's advanced Rail Interface System (RIS). Known as Smart-RIS (SRIS), not only does it allow power to be supplied any compatible device from a large high capacity battery in the pistol grip but it allows attached “smart” devices such as as aiming systems and programmable grenade launchers to interface with one another without the need for additional wiring.
Finally standard equipment for the SX23A1 includes a bayonet mounting point, 4x Combat sight with iron sight backup, and a threaded barrel can be revealed by removing the muzzle brake allowing the use of suppressors and silencers.

Ammunition:
The SX23A1 uses the new advanced 6.6x48mm CFC caseless round. Standard loading is a 130grain boat tailed FMJ round that offers exceptional performance out to more than 780m (round is super sonic to about 1000m) Alternative loadings include a reduced recoil 113grain round or an extended range Penetration Performance Improved (PPI) 150grain round.

In all its loadings 6.6x48mm CFC outperforms 7.62x51mm ammunition in terms of penetration and effective range whilst still retaining more than acceptable recoil levels.

Though the L62 rifle does exceed the current bidding specifications, we would appreciate both technical specifications of the L62 rifle, a few examples for preliminary testing, and a simple projection of what the differences for an L62 rifle chambered in a smaller caliber would be. We cannot guarantee that either the L62 or a modified version will be accepted, but we can guarantee that it would most certainly lose the bidding were it not to be submitted.

The military of the Dominion of Emperor Pudu is interested in fulfilling the requirements of the so far un-attempted artillery contract. We have in our own arsenal a weapon by the operational designation GMA-5, and it comes closest to fitting your prerequisites. It is a multi-purpose self-propelled field howitzer and gun, with the ability to fire in both trajectories to be able to fill the battlefield role of anti-personnel and anti-tank without needing two different guns. It will propel a ninety-five pound shell for thirty-two kilometers arcing, or propel a fourteen pound shell at 3,500 feet per second into whatever thank you need taken care of.

The gun itself weighs only twenty-eight tons and can achieve speeds of fifty-five miles per hour on the open road. It can travel 350 kilometers without re-supply, can ford water up to two meters deep, and can move up or down a gradient of 60%. This is achieved by the use of a 660 horsepower V8 diesel engine.

Rate of fire of the gun can be as high as three rounds on ten seconds, but intense sustained fire will have to be six rounds per minute, for a time of three minutes. A sustainable rate of fire is two rounds a minute. It fires automatically from a fourteen round magazine.

The gun itself is ten meters long, three and a half meters wide, and three meters high, not counting the barrel. It moves with a crew of three men, a driver, commander, and loader. The vehicle also mounts a single crew or computer fired 12.7mm machine gun.

Armor on the GMA-5 is fitted to withstand up to 15mm rounds, and has a thermal cover and solar reflective paint to keep the crew comfortable.

The gun is aided by a sophisticated ballistic computation system which will provide the gunner with the position of the gun and the exact bearing and elevation of the barrel required to hit the target that has been selected. Night sights are fitted for the gunner and in the commander’s station for night fighting.

We thank you for the bid, however, we find that it is lacking a few key elements. Firstly, we request to know the caliber of the gun, both in bore diameter and length. Secondly, we request knowledge of the price of the gun. We also request that, should the GMA-5 be selected, that it not be covered with solar reflective paint, to save us the cost of repainting it. Reflecting solar radiation will result in increasing the gun's signature to hostile forces, which we would prefer not to do.

Royal Ordnance thanks you for your consideration of the current model L62 rifle. Currently, the weapon serves in the frontline combat units of both the Royal Army and Royal Marines of the United Kingdom – though we do admit that many have expressed concerns over the significant recoil given the large calibre ammunition. It is this concern that we seek to redress with the possible development of a smaller calibre design that would aim to provide the same or otherwise similar performance. The rifle, however, is most effective in the UK’s armed forces, owing to extensive training for marksmanship, this all despite the occasional complaints of its recoil. What follows is the information material provided to prospective buyers. Current sale cost runs approximately $1450

Quick Specifications

Caliber: 8.5x70mm
Barrel Length: 530mm
Weight: 4.25kg (empty)
Magazines: 20, 36
Rate of Fire: 500rds/min (safe only for short spans of time)
Modes of Fire: 1, 3 round burst (1 and 2 round bursts on Mk.II variant)
Effective Range: 700-800m

Featuring a bullpup configuration, the L62 rifle provides the Royal Army with a modern battle rifle capable of penetrating modern armours and with their blended metal ammunition, causing serious and often fatal injuries to those suffering the wrath of the United Kingdom. Designed after the Novikov War, where the shorter range assault rifles of the Royal Marines proved ineffective at longer range combat in open field, the L62 makes use of the compactness of the bullpup design while still sporting a full rifle length barrel and so is useful in both open field and urban combat scenarios.

The L62 features a free-floating barrel to help increase marksmanship, especially when used in conjunction with optical sights incorporating a 1x, 2x, and 5x zoom capable of overlaying different sets of data inputs. However, these technological advantages find themselves backed up by nothing short of the tried and true iron sights. Other issues taken into consideration were that of the ejection port for the spent shells, to best compensate for both right-handers and left-handers the weapon can be toggled to eject shells to either the right or left side.
