The land of Duztikki (FT)

The weather was atrocious here. Only the furtherest in power and the rich resided in the lands, where the wind did not whip.

The altered camels moved across the land, barely dragging the carts behind them. Each child, man and woman wore a Face mask. Protecting them from the sand, and the unbreathable air. A chemical mixture so vicious, that it would kill creatures in less then 8 seconds.

The wildlife had adapted. The scientists in this area knew the Chemical mixture, but did not fiddle. They were a poor nation. Not rich enough to even afford to trade almost.

For now, they were a Dictatorship. The man on the top, frowning below upon all of them. His name, was a unique name. It was, Ruger Duztikki, the Third. This nation was upon it's first generation. A military coup having rendered it from it's dictators before. The dictators that endorsed Slave trade and didn't even live on the planet.

This land, would survive. The trade of the Credit would be higher then every nation. So, Ruger hoped.

====Inside the Office of Ruger Duztikki.====

The man gazed upon the land before him. The barren sand-wasted land. Most of the complexes that resided above ground, were having to be countinally fixed. They needed new solar panels in some land. The sun was burning up the land.

They had to drill for water each day. It was horrible. Hopefully, they would have a higher trade amount soon.

They contacted other planets. Hoping to strike up trade each day. The man running foreign affairs was pitiful.

Ruger then looked over his pile of papers, calling up his secetary to take them away. This land must survive, was his only thought. He was forced to help.

Someone....help this pitiful nation.

IC:

The Trident was moving through the 1,000 light year area recording and updating the galactic database.

LT Johnson was manning the com station.

"Captain, we have a new planet only ten light years from here.It has a class 2 tech level, and about nine million people. The planet is a barren wasteland. They have requested for aid."

"Contact FleetCom and have them deal with this."

"I have Admiral Conbac on holotank two."

The admiral's head and shoulders were appeared in front of the star chart.

"What do you have for me now captain?"

"A new civilization. It has a class 2 tech level, and about nine million people. The planet is a barren wasteland. They have requested for aid. What should we do?"

"I will prepare a delegation and a colony ship to send to the system."

"Roger that."

The image of the Admiral disappeared.

Meanwhile In Orbit around 1010102

The Admiral shut off the screen and started to send orders down the line.

With in an hour a task for had been prepared.

1 Dragon class Heavy Cruiser
4 Cargo ships
1 Colony Ship with tereformming gear
1 solar mirror station
1 Diplomatic shuttle

The task force jumped in system.

A message was sent to the planet.

We have come to aid your nation with your planet's environment. We are placing a solar mirror in orbit to reflect the sun's rays away colling your planet. Then we will land a colony ship to start teraforming the planet to make it more livable. Then we will start land supplies that will improve your nations industries. We will be shipping large amounts of water to your nation.

The admiral thought to himself,Now we wait.

A message was quickly typed out on the console, sent to the same people that had sent it.

We thank you for your aid. Terraforming will not be required but is thanked for the offer. Water and Food is all we really need. Sattelite cordinates shall be uploaded to you on where to deliver water. Don't drive anything that requires air to function.

The Light Combatant Vehicle Slip of the Tongue floated gently into the system, its engines almost idling as it moved with a lack of haste bordering on insolence. Making no pretence at stealth, its sensors blared on every channel with the confidence that only a weapons bay full of Relativistic Kill Vehicles can give. After all, who needed stealth when you had a payload capable of splitting a planet in two?

Well, the Taldaani Spacefleet, to be honest. The LCV was packed with stealth measures, it just chose not to use them for the moment. The more appropriate question would be "who needed stealth when you had a diplomat in your living quarters and came in peace?" After all, ghosting into the system only to emerge practically on top of the source of the signals would quite rightly be seen as a threat, and although Slip of the Tongue would almost certainly survive, inadvertently starting an intergalactic war while trying to make peaceful contact would be frowned upon, to say the least. Taldaan generally did its best to avoid conflict, prefering to use diplomacy and other peaceful methods, and while the Taldaani methods were equally as vicious as those of the crude neo-feudal states, they tended to leave less of a mess behind.

Makharius Johnson of the Taldaan Diplomatic Service sat in the living quarters, reading a sailracing magazine that he had picked up back on Vasco da Gama Station. While marvelling at the stupidity of some of the entries on the letters page, he was disturbed by Slip of the Tongue entering the room. Or rather, its avatar. For the ship to enter itself would be quite a feat, although one that certain theoretical scientists and mathematicians with genius-level IQs and way too much time on their hands had solved, in a few exotic dimensions at least. Certain Shipminds had thought about the same, of course, but given the sheer number of things that they thought about simultaneously, and how little time it took them, it was hardly surprising.

In fact, "disturbed" was a very good way of summing up his reaction. Slip of the Tongue's avatar was... odd, to say the least. While its torso, arms, and head had apparently been poached from a nubile and enticing young woman, and then covered with an amount of diaphanous material that one would be hard-pressed to find with a microscope, the lower half had more in common with that of an octopus. It was quite a shocking image overall, and the fact that the tentacles had mouths lined with serrated teeth did little to soften the blow.

"Hey, Mak? We're entering the system now. I guess its time for your briefing."

The voice, too, stirred reactions in him that seemed a little out of place given that they were coming from some kind of tentacle-centaur. The avatar spoke in a soft, husky drawl that spoke of dimly lit bedrooms and illicit pleasures, and added innuendo to words that, by rights, should be completely without connotations. While "entering" was obvious, and "briefing" could be done when said in that voice, even the word "time" seemed to echo through his brain. He blinked, triggering a rush of Concentration from his modified glands that dragged his imagination back from depths too deep to plumb. The avatar grinned. He blinked again, furious with himself.

"Well, are you going to keep staring? Because if you do, I'll have to start without you. Do you want the briefing?"

He nodded dumbly.

"Great."

The avatar snapped its fingers, and with a rush of light a hologram of a planet appeared in front of it.

"This is where you're going. Don't ask me the name of the planet, because I don't know it. Think of it as something to find out when you get there. What I do know is that whichever civilisation is down there is either pre-terraforming or can survive breathing one of the most potent mixtures of poisonous gases I've seen in a long time. To put it simply, the planet is a wasteland. Almost no water coverage, or in fact moisture of any kind. Their proximity to a main-sequence star, not to mention their atmosphere, means that surface temperature is far higher than you're used to.

As for their culture, I don't know anything. Settlements seem consistent with about eight to twelve million inhabitants planetside, unless they pack them in tighter than I'm accounting for. I think that we can assume a survivalist culture, given the environmental conditions, but don't rely on that assumption too much."

The hologram of the planet dissipated suddenly.

"You're also going to need some fairly extensive body modifications. The people down there are human, but they don't look much like you. We're going to change that. I'm going to hate rearranging that rugged, handsome face of yours, but we don't know how they're going to react to foreigners. You're also going to need some work done on your respiratory system if you're going to breathe down there. I'd say it'll all take about an hour and a half, assuming we don't have any distractions.

As for your equipment, you won't need much, and you're already carrying most of it. The only extra thing is that I've had a particle-beam pistol sent up. You should know how to fire it. Just remember, while you won't need to reload it, don't sustain fire for more than one point five seconds if you don't want to burn out the battery. Keep it hidden but ready to use. Now, get to the medical room."

Two hours later, a single-man shuttle dropped towards the source of the transmissions, the ship having notified the people planetside that a diplomat was coming down.

The first conquest fleet was built approximatly a year ago and has been undergoing a shake down cruise. After they finished it they started to return to a unknown system (really my shipyard system but hey no one knows where it is) when they picked up a call for help.
...communications between ship AI and captain between neural interface...
"we picked up a call for help from a class CLASS H planet. All the exploerer fleets are out of range of this planet. It is advisable that we help them."
"I concur computer. However do we have the nessessary recources to help them?"
"Several ships in the fleet contain industrial grade replicators in their cargo hold. It should be sufficient to help the planet."
"Very well change course and signal the fleet." The large fleet then proceeded to the planet. (most of the crew are androids which is why I am able to keep a large fleet without man power problems)

"The poor souls," Captain Avari said, more to himself than anyone around him, though the bridge was full of personel. The faint distress call from the planet had been picked up by the Republic, and the Empire had volunteered personally to send aid and establish diplomatic ties with the people, perhaps even lure them into joining the great alliance with promises of extravagant help and the ability to wield great power in the universe, regardless of the youth of the nation.

Entering the atmosphere of the sun scorched planet, the Civilization IV broadcasted its greeting on all channels, making sure to put it on high frequency to make it throught he atmospheric disturbance that seemed to run rampant.

On behalf of the Senate and People of the Republic, and the Galactic Empire of Taledonia, hail Consul Duztikki and his blighted people

Élmbar. Not a necron ship per se. Instead, Élmbar was the headquarters vessel of the non-governmental group known as the Venturers. It had a permanent population of thousands, capacity to house millions of people, hundreds of meters of molecular fabricators and more exotic things. Usually, it acted as a mobile supply base and support craft that drifted between star systems in the cold deeps, with Venturer -aligned military craft and sub-craft doing all of its work, but this time.

Here however, it didn’t think it had any need for caution in this system, indeed, a certain ostentatious display of its smoothed dagger-shaped hull wouldn’t really go amiss. Indeed, it had a secondary motive for its activities, for it had heard of other agencies whose agendas matched its own. Agencies such as the nation of Taldaan. Its initial probe, a tiny object, had detected the involvement of a vessel provisionally identified as an LCV of that nation.

This, this interested Élmbar, always eager for contacts to increase the efficacy of its operations, greatly, so, retrieving its sub-craft, and bringing appropriate agents on board, it made sail for its new destination…

And the mission had been going so well.

With Johnson on the surface unscathed, Slip of the Tongue had taken the opportunity for a little relaxation. Not that the flight itself hadn't been relaxing, but with literally nothing to do, the Shipmind had retreated into itself, pondering the deeper mysteries of the universe, contacting other Shipminds, and using a little excess processing power to play some incredibly complex and vicious wargames against itself. All at the same time.

In the infinite space of the Shipmind, ships clashed above a burning world. Arcs of coruscating energy smashed hulls asunder, relativistic kill vehicles burst into pillars of nuclear flame as they crashed against armoured ships, obliterating them and leaving only ionic debris where once had been mighty warships of mighty empires. And yet, amid the chaos and untamed destruction, a pattern was forming. While to the untrained eye all that could be seen was death and a bloody stalemate, to the Shipmind there were patterns in the movements of the ships.

Checkmate.

The patterns resolved themselves at once, and suddenly the tides of the battle changed. Traps within traps that had been laid for hours upon end suddenly sprang, and...

The emergency contigency programming kicked in, shattering carefully laid plans more effectively than any enemy counterattack. Slip of the Tongue suddenly felt all of the onboard sensors come alive with new data, and the Shipmind clawed all of it in for processing. What it found was an unpleasant surprise. A fleet of Sephrion neo-feudal barbarians. A war fleet moving at combat speed, in fact. Fifty ships, although ten were identified as transports. Bad news for whoever the target was, and now would be an excellent time to identify who the target was. Finding which ship to talk to was easy: checking comms activity, Slip of the Tongue locked communications onto the one with the greatest amount of outgoing traffic.

To: Sephrion Warship
From: LCV Slip of the Tongue

None of my concern, huh? I think you'll find that it is very much my concern what you are doing in this system. A Sephrion armada on the warpath is cause for concern for anyone, and as much as I would like it if you would stay out of Taldaani affairs, you leave me with no choice but to become very concerned indeed.

Allow me to break down my view of the situation for you. A planet sends out a message on omnidirectional channels, asking for trade. This planet is poor and barren, and so nations send humanitarian vessels. Now, I'm sure that you are reasonable enough not to open fire on a humanitarian vessel, and even if you lack the compassion not to open fire, you would surely accept that the international backlash would be bad for all involved.

The only other option I can see is that you are here to attack the planet. The presence of military transports among your fleet would seem to confirm that. Why, I am not sure. After all, the planet has no strategic significance. It does not occupy a commanding position over supply lines, not does it possess any amount of resources that would be economical to extract. Even its population is small, and the numbers that would be fit for you to carry off as slaves would be incredibly small after your bombardment.

In fact, the one thing of importance that this planet contains is a Taldaani diplomat. And naturally, as a citizen of Taldaan, we should hate for him to come to any harm. Any nation killing him, or even wounding him, would be subject to severe reprisals. After all, he is a Taldaani diplomat, and as such travels with diplomatic immunity. For a contract so fundamental to intergalactic diplomacy to be breached would be the act of a barbarian. I hope that you continue to act as civilised people.

As the diplomat descended from the skies, several military land cruisers exited, men displaying weapons, but not holding them in a hostile manner. The ground beneath them disappeared, revealing a landing pad underneath them. Completely underground. The men's masks protected them from the sand, as it whipped around them.

Clearly, they were ready for anything that might come about, but they followed the craft at a speed that was perfect for persuit.

Once they would land, they would be met by Armed Guard (Presidental Guard) and summoned into a inner room, and checked for any weaponary and disarmed. Diplomats needed no weapons, surely.

The soldiers kept close and communicated through unseen and unheard ways, nanotechnology being the main way that they did. Weapons drawn but not aimed. Knowing that the diplomat was outnumbered if he did attempt to start anything.

The landing gear came down, hydraulic-mounted pads hitting the ground with a soft thump. The ramp dropped, and Makharius stepped out. He wore no breathing gear: the biomods installed back on the LCV allowed him to breathe the toxic air, although they had done little about the smell. He grimaced, wishing that he had had some olfactory modifications installed as well.

But his enhanced senses certainly came in handy. Although he could not see the guards closing in, he heard them, smelt them, detected their body heat, detected their bioelectric signals, and for some bizarre reason, tasted them. And so, before they even gave the order, he put his hands in the air and stood still.

They led him through into a room not far from the landing pad, their guns levelled at him the whole time. Once there, a large man who looked as if he wouldn't enjoy and argument ordered him to hand over any weapons he was carrying. Reluctantly he removed the particle pistol from where it was tucked away inside his jacket. Naturally he didn't tell them about his weapons biomods, but then the poison glands in his mouth and the poison spurs concealed in his wrists would be a bitch to remove, and what they didn't know wouldn't hurt them. It wasn't as if they would show up on scans.

That the Sephrion ships had raised their shields did not go unnoticed. More ships. Well, that was hardly a surprise. The Sephrions weren't exactly known for their grasp of the concept of overkill. Or their grasp on reality, for that matter. The Sephrion battlegroup already in the system probably could already have wiped the floor with the rest of the combined military force here. But, with a passion that could come only from a deep-seated need to compensate for something, they had brought what looked like the best part of two fleets. And their flagship. There was little that Slip of the Tongue could do now. The Shipmind could only sit and wait.
The Ctan
02-08-2006, 21:38
The ship that appeared somewhere behind the Sephrion ‘Doombringer’ vessel looked like nothing so much as the strange and perverse offspring of a knife and a ship of ancient design. Its prow, in fact, looked exactly like that of an archaic sea ship, but expanded to gigantic proportions that would give even the most insane Hogsweatian naval designer a severe case of insecurity.

Where recesses in the forward section looked as though they should house anchors, it instead held vast molecular dissemination furnaces, that could pull any material into its base molecular components and store them. In normal travel, Élmbar ran with these on to collect matter – it was more efficient than just generating it from the vessel’s energy supplies.

Here, however, it had another use. Unplanned and unintended, it emerged from hyperspeed several kilometres above the ‘Doombringer’ which it promptly began to suck up and consume. Aboard the (purely ceremonial, mind) bridge of the vessel, its ‘captain’ a gaunt man by the name of Phillips frowned, and pointed out of the window.

“What the hell?” was his reaction, as he saw the alien vessel being disintegrated by the ram-scoop systems.

The floating replica of the ship, eight and a half centimetres long beside him bobbed a bit. “I didn’t detect them… Their power signature is too low!”

“Can’t you stop?” he asked.

“Well, no point, really. The shock of that,” the knife hovered forwards a little, as if to point at the victim, “Will have eliminated all on board anyway. But yeah, may as well, shutting down ram-scoops…” it said.

The Admiral thinks about what should happen and then he orders everything in the 9th Special Operations Fleet to jump into the sector. With the order to jump sent he also sends a request for two heavy fleets to the sector as fast as they can get there.

Fleet Admiral Patton got orders to the 3rd and 5th Heavy Fleets with the 6th and 8th MI Division under General Andrews to go to Duzitikki space to help them out with everything that can be. 20 Warlock Heavy Cruisers, 30 Nova-X Battlecruiers, 25 Nova Dreadnoughts, 30 Omega Destroyers, 40 Hyperian Heavy Cruisers, 50 Olympus Corvettes, 5 Cotton Tenders, 5 Ruby Hospital Ships, and 3 Warlock Heavy Carriars with 500 Fighters each on top of all fighters in the fleet ships on their own. Five Warlock Heavy Cruisers caring the 6th and 8th MI Divisions. With this size force going into the Duzitikki sector the allies should have a little bit more help. On top of that there will be the 9th Special Operations Fleet in the sector to do recon missions and other operations that would be to out of order for the Heavy Fleet.

And like a blast from the I.G.N.O.R.E. cannon of the gods themselves, the Elmbar smashed through the Sephrion fleet, leaving death and destruction in its wake. The vast furnaces on the prow of the mighty ship had stripped the embodiment of Sephrion martial overindulgence down to its component atoms. The words "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" had never sounded so appropriate, or so beautiful. Slip of the Tongue had been sure that the LCV would not survive the encounter. While fear had not entered into it due to the fact that the ship could be rebuilt and the Mind reuploaded, annoyance most definitely had. And while the Sephrion guns could overwhelm the point defence and shatter the hull, the obliteration of the Doombringer in their midst would probably destroy their morale with all the certainty of a recently-converted Flat Earth believer.

Even so, the gravitational sensors were giving readings with far too many zeroes tacked onto the end, and it was coming from the remains of the Sephrion fleet. Not only could the LCV not run, it couldn't bring in reinforcements. But as the gravity well generators were mounted aboard the ships, anything dropping into the system would appear right on top of the Sephrions. Which gave the Shipmind a plan.

A Relativistic Kill Vehicle in the right hands is a terrifying weapon. Compact, cheap, and capable of moving at a good fraction of the speed of light, it could strike with enough energy to trigger fusion reactions, split capital ships in two, and severely fuck with planets. The downside is that, above about 0.4c, should something like a stray hydrogen atom get in the way it would obliterate that, and itself, instead. But when one takes a larger RKV, massing around fifty tons, say, and puts a magnetic shunt on the front to knock any pesky small floating objects out of the way, one has an interstellar cruise missile. And of course, with the danger of hitting stray molecules eliminated, you can make it go faster. Much faster.

The five missiles dropped into the system at hyperluminal speeds, homing in relentlessly on the gravity well generators. Of course, the sheer energy of the reaction would likely damage or destroy the entire fleet. Slip of the Tongue, having retreated to a safe distance, stayed to watch the fireworks.

((OOC: no one noticed me))
witht he raging battle the command ship activated its cloak while waiting for a reply to the sent message. The ten cruisers were flanking the stronger fleet that recently emerged in the system. The ships then fired all their ion cannons and a few seconds later several dozen hypervolosity one gigaton nquadah enhanced nuclear missiles. The missiles struck the fleeing fleet hopefully inflicting some damage.

MIS Élmbar (Civillian Registered) to the vessel identified as LCU Slip of the Tongue
Subject: Hello!

Greetings. I see you’ve seen those Sephirothites off. They do get everywhere, don’t they? Sometimes I wonder if they’re not some sort of von-Neumann machine. It would explain a few things. Hope you don’t mind the interruption, but we detected a message of some interest from this system and decided to head off to investigate.

On the on-chance (I would say off-chance, but aside from keeping to my facetiousness quota, it’s not exactly improbable) that you don’t know us, I’m associated with a group whose interests appear to be shared by you. We’d like to offer you my\our hospitality (though we won’t be offended if you turn it down. Paranoia around these parts is an excellent trait) during operations here.

Subject: Aid.

Greetings. We have received your message and understand you to be in need of assistance. We request permission to deliver a representative of our group down to discuss what help we can provide with your government.

Yes, those Sephrion neo-barbarians do know how to stage an upset, although luckily their aggression is rarely matched by their courage.

As for your offer of hospitality, it certainly sounds tempting. However, I'd like it if you could tell me a little about this organisation before I start making any long-term commitments.

OOC :
Has anyone noticed my arrival ???

IC :

The Imperial Flotilla sailed towards the battle-zone , weapons at ready . They were charging up their Turbolaser Batteries for any action and they broad-casted a message to all fleets .

"This is Imperial Blue Dagger Flotilla . We have been sent by his Imperial Majesty Emperor Darth Matter . We are here on peaceful grounds and wish no harm to anyone . Our intention here is to attempt at brokering a peace-treaty between all Empires involved ."

MIS Élmbar (Civillian Registered) to the LCU Slip of the Tongue
Subject: Info!

Apologies for the delay in my response, I was coordinating with nearby assets for possible future operations. Anyway, my organisation is essentially a blend of charity and vigilante organisation. We spend most of our time hunting the galaxy for species and colonies in danger of being wiped out by aggressive groups, and then do our best to either intervene with force or, more commonly, evacuate threatened civilians from the paths of aggressors. The idea initially came from the necron star ship Erisavenus, which has been doing the same kind of thing for some years now, and developed contacts with a number of groups with the same kind of interventionist agenda and eventually began building a separate resource base (and thence, me)– which is partly why we’re interested in contacting you, as you seem to have the same general interests and something of the same modus operandi.

Please find attached more explanatory data and information packets. Some of these are ‘mission reports’ and some are general informative dispatches. I’m sure you’ll find them interesting nonetheless.
