Humanitarian Crisis in The Free Land of The Khornate Tribes

The Khornate Tribes

The city was burning. The fires of burning buildings lit the night, making clear the chaos in the streets. The blood-mad barbarians had ridden in as night fell, and had not truly been opposed... after all, the President had been too busy getting high to care about the defense budget for the last six years, and most of the army had been made up of "tame" nomads who had joined their wild brothers at the first opertunity they had had...
And so a city burned as the barbarians slaughtered its inhabitants to please their blood-mad god.
While the city burned, while thousands of civilians were slaughtered, a drug-addled president looked down at the slaughter from a window of the Presidential Palace, and knew despair. He had failed his people. Soon the nomads would come for him, and then he would die. He should have asked for help, should have had some plan... but he hadn't, and because he hadn't, horse ridding nomads were sacking his capital, were slaughtering his citizens as an offering to their foul god.
He wouldn't let them have him though... he had a little vial of poison to make that a certainty. Still, before he died, he would do one thing for his people, and he would do it right.
While his city burned, President Thomas Smith, ninth of that name and seventh to inherit that rank by right of blood, prepared a simple message for the world, then had it sent to a foreign news agency... and then, sitting on his favorite chair, facing his favorite view of the capital cities sky line, which now burned from drunken nomad barbarians thoughtless vandalism, he took the little glass vial, and drank the poison.
He was dead in seconds, but no one found him for nearly an hour, when the first barbarians entered the palace. They didn't know who he had been, so they simply removed his watch and rings, then tossed the corpse onto a pile in the street.
So ended the reign of the Hereditary Presidents... so began anarchy.

The Leader's Bunker, Skgorria City, Skgorria

"ZIONIST FILTH!" exploded the Leader after hearing the latest news from The Khornate Tribes, "We MUST counter this immediatley!"
"But sir," cowered the Chief Of Staff, "our transport assets are tied up already. We can't send troops..."
"Then send bombs!" yelled the Leader, slamming his fist down on the desk, "We must teach these Bolsheviks a lesson!"
"Yes sir!" saluted the Chief of Staff, leaving to ring 8th Air Army HQ

"Sir, you can't be serious. The 16th just launched a strike, we need time to replenish stocks!" ranted the CinC 8th Air Army to the Chief of Staff over the phone from his office.
"You have your orders, carry them out." The phone went dead. Sighing, the CinC opened the folder labelled "Operation: Desolation" with one hand as he dialled in another number.
"Yes...hello....get the duty wing and two other fully prepped.....we have a mission"

The nomads had been interested in loot more than anything else, and they had found plenty of it... at which point they began to burn and kill for no reason other than that their god, Khorne, commanded them to do so.
Thousands died that night - drunken nomads used fleeing civilians for target practice, then set about gathering as many civilians as they could find as prisoners.
When they had gathered a few dozen prisoners, they would bring in one of their shamans, and, in ritual battle-madness, hack the prisoners to pieces with their bladed weapons.
In one of the worst incidents, five hundred unarmed civilians, mostly children and old people who could not flee, were herded into a soccer stadium, then set upon by screeching beserkers.
It was as if hell itself had opened a franchise in the captured cities... and the demons were outdoing themselves in opening celebrations for their new hell.

The first bloody night had ended, and the sun had risen. Most of the city had been demolished over the course of that night of drunken violence, and the illiterate barbarian nomads slept off their hang-overs in the ruined remains of what had once been park land.
They had had orders to kill every man, woman and child they found, and they had killed thousands... but warriors were men too.
The Conquest-Lord, a seer blesed by their god, walked along the lines with a drawn pistol, performing what he considered a sacred duty - whenever he found a woman that his warriors had allowed to live for their pleasure, he would shoot the woman. He did this not out of any form of compassion, but because he believed in his god and the order that he had been sent - he had been chosen to wipe the thrice-cursed city-people from the face of the earth, ending their race... and so it would not do to allow any of them to live.
Some of the men protested of course, that was to be expected... but he just looked at them, looked at them and let them see the mark of their god burned into the flesh of his forehead... and they ceased their objections, and allowed him to go about his "sacred task"... it would not do to offend one chosen of the god...

The night had passed, and dawn had come...
In a basement, a woman shivered and went over her rifle for the thousandth time, not willing to believe that some drunken nomad was not about to kick down her door.
Her children slept in a corner, laying where they had cried themselves to sleep. Over the course of the night, she had seen things through her windows that she would never forget... but she had not died. She couldn't understand that - every other house she could see had had its doors smashed down, had had its occupants dragged screaming into the streets, where they were slaughtered like animals... or killed by more inventive barbarians, in slow and torturous ways.
But they had overlooked her house. She and her children still lived. She supposed she should pray to God for their salvation... but she found it hard to believe in God just then.

"What on earth?" cursed the Marshall, wondering what was happening

Skgorrian Ministry For Forgein Deployments

After a check and an appeal for calm, the Leader had called off the airstrikes. Instead, he crouched around a map.
"We will send in two divisions to restore order!" The Leader indicated where the two divisions would land. "5th SS Panzer and Grand Skgorria will show the world that Skgorria will fight disorder and chaos wherever it is found!"
"An excellent idea Sir," applauded a General
"I care not for your fawnings," spat the Leader, "demote yourself three ranks and report to the SP."
Paling, the General saluted and left.
"How long until my army is ready?" the Leader asked
"At least a week sir," another General motioned hestitantly.
"So be it" the Leader said, staring intently at the map...

The fact that the armed forces of the Kingdom of Crookfur had recently been active in comabt operations against those claiming to worship the so called Chaos "gods", was no secret. And despite the attempts by the media to portray such actions as basic humanitarian responses to localised religious fundementalism gone wrong it would be clear to soem observers that those in power within Crookfur had a much more "Crusading" zeal in dealing with those who claimed to worship the dark gods.

The dormant taint of chaos would always be difficult to detect but once the infect began to florish, it's stench would fill the minds of those attuned to arcane feilds which envelope mankind and with modern technology, an outbreak that in the past might have proven difficult to pin point could be quickly localised, buring cities were generally very easy to spot using orbit surveilance assets.

As such plans were quickly enacted to bring arms to bear upon the forces of darkness, the madness had spread too much for the time involved in a more conventional sea borne operation to be spared so at fast response airborne operation was planned.

the 60th and 13th Airborne divsions were put on 48hours alert for a forced entry deployment and it was hoped that they take and hold enough land succesfully to save a worthwhile number of civilians and then hold out util heavier forces could arrive by sea.

The barbarians had gathered, some still wincing from their hang-overs, in the middle of the conquered city, amidst the ruins of what had once been a grand old stone building, a library.
They had smashed down the doors, reasoning that anything that was that well protected had to have had some value... and they had cried out in angry dismay to find only piles of papers.
Still, they had had an opportunity to relieve their anger - they had thrown gasoline onto the books until they were soaked through, then lit them on fire, laughing all the while as books of poetry that they could not read acted as kindling for a massive fire.
That thoughtless vandalism completed, they had erected a holy symbol of their god upon the steps of the building, while they used the sculptures of nymphs and gods that had adorned the walls of the library for target practice with their AKs.
Now they gathered there, in front of the massive holy symbol that they had built that night, and some drank even then, enjoying the burn of looted liquer as they waited.
They didn't have long to wait before their prophet came before them. As he stepped onto the remains of the library steps, they chanted the name of their foul god over and over again, bringing themselves into a beserk rage at life the universe and everything as the messanger of their god prepared to speak...
He was almost drowned out by the sounds of their chanting and the louder cries of their rifles as they fired wildly into the air, but he managed to get them to quiet down. With a smile on his face, he began to speak, calling out praise to Khorne, then explaining what they were to do:
"Brothers! We have conquered the city-people! We have burned their homes, have raped their wives and daughters and now... now we have slaughtered all we found in the name of our god! But... our god is a thirsty god, and he is not sated! We must hunt down the last of the city people for him! We must kill their race! These city-people had a term for that - genocide! That is what Khorne demands! The death of their race!!!" with those mad words, he raised an AK towards the sky, then fired off a burst, setting off the mob once more into a frenzy. They fired wildly, then began waving their machetes and axes and swords and so on... such weapons pleased the god of blood, and so his followers carried them, even when the city-people weapons were in plentiful supply - almost every one of these barbarians carried one of the city-peoples weapons, mostly AK-47s. With those weapons, they went out to hunt...

She was afraid. The nomads had slept for a few hours, and so she had dared to scavange a bit of bread for her children, but now they ran through the streets once again, baying for blood like some sort of wild animals.
She waited with her murdered husbands rifle, pointing it at the locked and bolted door, knowing that sooner or later the barbarians would find their hiding place... and when they did, she and her children would die. Still, she intended to kill at least one of them... at least one of those rabid dogs in human flesh.
There didn't seem to be much hope for her... but still, she couldn't help wishing that at least her children could be saved...

The Skgorrian fleet had been able to enter hostile waters with relative ease - no fleet had come out to meet them. Recon flights had indicated little organised military movement except large mobs converging on cities and towns.

The Skgorrians had faced a dilemna, to land in an unoccupied region with no port facilities would be safer but it would take a long time to unload troops. Instead they had elected to head full steam for a major port. Fighters had been scrambled and the fleet's gun stood ready...

Appraoching Khornate territory at about 30,000ft

Through the night sky the air armada raced, onwards ever onards towards it targets. Headed up by bombers and long range fighters the fleet strained its sensors in the search of threat indicators: the eleectronic flashs of rada, the movement of aircraft or the plumes of missiles, so far thigns were quiet but the aircraft exercised utmsot caution anyway.
A few hours ago the obvious tell tales of a fleet of warships heading towards the blighted land had been spotted and command and control assets were working furiously to get in contact with them to determine its origin and objectives.

As the air fleet edged closer to the apparently Khornate territory a number of converted transporters began making wide beam transmissions of radio and television signals on most civilian frequencies. The transmissions would contain messages of hope and reassurance in an attempt to make it easier for the Crookfur forces to secure assitance or at the least reduce resitance from what vestages of local govenrment remained.

Command deck of the DESOLATION, the Skgorrian Flagship

The bridge crew had been thrown into utter chaos, not only were they trying to identify enemy assets on land but there was a series of new signals.
"From their IFF, we think they're Crookfurian" reported the Captain to Admiral Doenitz. "We're preparing the following draft message." He handed the Admiral a slip of paper with the following written on it:
To All Crookfurian Forces,
this taskforce is heading to territory gripped in frenzy and chaos. We are going in to re-establish order and stop this madness. Order must triumph at all costs, we cannot allow this region to descend into chaos and disorder.

We wish to know your intentions

After carefully reading it, the Admiral handed it back without a word, focusing instead on the fore of the fleet where the action was happening

Landing Zone

The port had been identified as the city of Brackjay (apologies for making up a name, feel free to change it) and was utterly in the grip of madness. All attempts to contact authorities had failed, and the radio traffic carried nothing but screams and curses.

It was obvious that the nomads had seen the approach of the fleet, and had started to flood the dockside with men and arms. Landing craft carrying both men and armour were streaking towards the dock, but first came the problem of clearing the dockside. Conventional munitions would damage the port too much, so the Skgorrians opted for a far more lethal policy. A wing of Yak-38 fighters from carriers such as the DESOLATION overflew the dockside, not encountering much apart from occasional small arms fire. When the order came, they dropped their bombs which detonated above the dockside. Many laughed at the seemingly ineffective weapons, yet what they did not know was that these bombs were simply a mechanism for dispersing sarin gas, an extremely lethal nerve agent that even now drifted down on the unsuspecting hostiles...

the Crookfur response was simple:

"We share the same goal, or current operational objectives call for the seazing of any realtively intact inland airfeilds to facilitate the establishment of an airbirdge until such times as heavier forces can be brought into the region and a further camapign can be carried out to bring order and aid. of course we reconise that togehter our forces would provide a sysnergistic increase in capability."

Over the dropzone

"Stand to, Stand to, Stand to!" Yelled the jump master as the lights in the transport's cabin went red. As one the prartroopers rose and began to shuffle into psotion for the jump.
Sgt Jamieson gave his gear and that of the man infornt a final check and signald his readiness, smiling tightly with staisfaction as his HUD icons turned green one by one, indicating the readiness of the rest of his squad.
Suddenly the lights went green and the jump master begun the ritual screaming of "GO!" as each trooper launched himself from the aircraft. eventually it was jamieson's turn and he hurled hismelf out into the jetstream, the sudden cold taking his breath, despite hisoutfits enviromental control system. Despite the Sergent's many previous jumps the shock of the parachute opening still came as bit of a shock, but the suprise soon passed as he concenrtrated on making sure he was lined up with the nvaigation icons on his HUD, in the distance he could make out the brightness of the still burning city against the night sky, this was certainly goign to be an operation that was anything but ordinary.

Although the 16" guns of the Old Fortress commanded the harbor, no resistance came from that quarter. Most of the nomads who had been looting their way through that particular little port town had already moved on, but a small garrisson force had remained behind. They were almost entierly wiped out by the nerve gas bombardment, but a few remained to ineffectively fire their AKs at the landing forces. Other than that, and a few booby traps, not much resistance was encountered.

The Drop Zone chosen by the Crookfurian military proved to be rather lightly defended - in fact, they encountered no immediate opposition to their landing in the suburbs. It seems as though the nomads have congregated in the inner urban areas, having already thoroughly looted and burned the suburbs.
About ninety percent of the buildings in the secured zone have been burned, and mutilated bodies have been either hung from street lights or piled at street corners. It seems that the tribesmen were thorough - there are an estimated four thousand bodies in the area around the Drop Zone alone, and so far, no survivors have been found.

Most of the Defense Forces had deserted to join the tribes men when they came riding in from the wastes with their AKs and their machetes, but some resisted even now, after most of the cities and towns they had sworn to protect burned, after most of the people they had promised to defend had been slaughtered.
Most of the remaining resistance fighters were motivated more by revenge than by hope for victory, but they struck - no fortress could hope to resist the invading tribes, but the Defense Forces knew the sewers and the back streets well enough that they could conduct a war of ambush... as they planned now:

Karl Johanson was a lieutenant in the Defense Forces. Was, because even if the Defense Forces had ceased to fight, as long as any of his men still fought on, it would still exist.
Right now they conducted their twelfth ambush since the capital had fallen - he had positioned his men in the narrow back streets, where the nomads would have to charge down a given point.
These Khornate tribesmen were excelent targets for an ambush - they considered it a religious duty to never run from a fight, and so even when they were being machinegunned from three sides, they would respond by charging the nearest enemy position. As such, they died like flies.
This ambush was simple enough, although after each one he would have to move his men to a new site.
They had set bait in the form of signs of wealth for the nomads to follow, which they would, mad for loot as they were, at which point, when they were past the point of no return, directional mines hidden in the rubble would fire, cutting off the rear of the nomad patrol, leaving the rest for the machine guns. Of course, nothing ever went utterly to plan...

The blood god demanded blood. That was obvious, but this little patrol, only twenty men, had so far failed to find any hidden city-people - it seemed increasingly likely that they had all been found and slaughtered already. Still, such patrols made the possibility of fresh loot so much more likely that they were considered fine assignments.
Right now, it looked as though he had gotten some luck, finally - it seemed as though some foolish looting party had headed down that alley, found some jewlry shop or something, and then headed out - so drunk that they had scattered bits of gold and silver along their path! Smilling in anticipation of what that wealth could buy, he stepped forward, looking over his shoulder and motioning for the rest of his patrol to follow - even if they only found the wealth he could see, it would still be a significant achievement...

The barbarians seemed to be going for it - lieutenant Johanson could barely restrain his glee as he prepared to press the transmitter key and cut those barbarians appart... already, his men lay in wait, rifles at their shoulders, machine guns positioned and prepared...

These city people seemed such fools, to wallow in such wealth and yet not use enough of it to support a military able to defend their wealth. That in and of itself was proof that the blood god favored the nomads. As they made their way down the alley, filling their sacks with loot, the nomad chieftan began to wonder what he would do with that wealth - his band was already well outfitted, their families and horses well fed... perhaps he would spend some of it on simple rewards - such things would hold the loyalty of his men. Yes, he would see to it that some of this unexpected income would be spent on little luxuries - after all, enjoying the fruits of victory was a manly thing, not necesarily some Slanneshi perversion...

The barbarians, those blood-drinking loot crazed mad men, had walked right into it. With a smile on his face, Karl Johanson triggered the command detonated directional mines, whispering as he did:
"This is for my family."

The greater part of the war band was blasted apart in seconds - only the chieftan and six others remained to cry out their rage and frustration to the uncaring sky as the machineguns opened fire. As those brutal technological weapons cut down his followers, the chieftan led a last, futile, charge against the hated city-people, crying out as he did for Khorne to favor his soul with a place of honor amoungst the slain warriors.

The Ministry of Defense building was a huge old stone structure left over from before The War, which had been built in that old era before electric lights were common, or computers, not to mention air conditioners, heard of.
In the sweltering heat of a Neue Neue Deutschland summer, the Ministry of Defense building was like an oven.
Still, even in the heat, the few senior officers not assigned to the Expeditionary Force in Danteri went about their buissiness, planning for the future, as the tinny Neue Neue Deutsch military built up.
Currently, the Minister of Defense, the Assisstant Minister of Defense, the head of the Army, the head of the Navy (which currently consisted of a few ships on loan from the Haraki, although whose crews were still training) and the head of the Air Force were all examining a map of the area where the "Khornate Tribes" had just overrun a few cities. Reports coming in indicated that those nomad tribesmen were practicing genocide, so the issue was an important one.
They stared in silence for a few moments, before the Minister of Defense spoke:
"I'm assuming we're going in. The Chancellor hasn't gotten back to me yet, but I still want the Air Force put on alert and -" the head of the Air Force interupted him then, saying:
"I want this to be clear - my pilots aren't ready to face any active enemy, or any target harder than a few idiots with AKs - if you send them in and the enemy has SAMs or something like that, then some of them are going to panic, and some of them are going to die." the Minister of Defense nodded, then made to continue, but the head of the Air Force cut him off again:
"These pilots have only been actually flying their planes for five weeks now - most of them were formerly commercial pilots. I want that to be clear, that they aren't ready to fight." the Minister nodded again, a bit more brusqely than before, and spoke before he could be interupted again:
"I hear you. However, we have an obligation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is trying to contact the two nations currently involved in an intervention. That's Crookfur and Skgorria, another two nations that none of you have ever heard of, but that's normal - after all, if you had any potential at all, you'd be off working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs." a few smilled at that joke, but then it became serious:
"The Chancellor has let me know that it is only a matter of time until we conduct an intervention - he plans to bring it up tommorrow, at the next session of the Bundestag. 4th Battalion is almost through basic, and so, well, we can say we will be able to contribute something to the intervention, beyond a few green pilots in newly bought fighters." as they left to begin planning, someone commented:
"Yes, we can also contribute some green infantry men, trained and led by Politzei officers who are teaching from books."

The following message was sent to the governments of Skgorria and Crookfur from the Neue Neue Deutsch Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

Greetings on behalf of the Chancellor and People of Neue Neue Deutschland. We have observed the events occuring with the Khornate Tribes, and have become worried - our government is planning an intervention, and so we would like to coordinate with you - we can pledge one battalion of newly trained light infantry, plus three dozen fighter planes, some of the new Eurofighter Typhoons. However, in order to ensure that our contribution is of as much use as is possible, we would like to request that a Unified Intervention Command be formed, so that coordination between our forces might occur. We have no interest in colonization of the affected area, or in any conflict with any faction other than the genocidal nomads. We await your reply.

OOC: Is it safe to assume that i managed to land my para troopers soem where clsoe to an airport? it is the msot liekly place that forces would aim for, if not i can redo this psot.

IC:
Colonel McIntyre's mood was grim as his gaze swept over the abandoned aiport. The Cultists had managed to destroy most of the biudlings and structures of the airport, the rumble of thier shattered shells mixed with the burnt out piles of twisted metal that had once been planes to create a hellish visage, a visage that only got worse when you got closer and found the horrific remains of those who had coem to the airport seeking an avenue of escape. The Colonel gave thanks for the filters biult into his helmet that spared him having to inhale the dread stentch of burnt and rotting flesh. Breakign away from his contemplation he noticed the Major in charge of his engineers coming his way.

"Well Major how bad is it?"
"It's bad sir, but not as bad as it might have been, the east end of the runway is still in pretty good shape although the taxi ways are well and truely blocked, the est end however... well a nose diving 747 tends to mess up a runway pretty good, we should be able to get Argo's and Coalboys down and away agin without too much difficulty but Galaxy's Longshores and Homeruns are all pretty much out of the question."

With that news McIntyre felt mixed emotions, on one hand he woudl soon be able to get hands on his lighter equipment but on the other it would be soem time before serious forces could be brought in, or refugees taken out, if they found any.

Sergent Jamieson lounged in the front passenger seat of the landrover as it crawled through the now deserted streets of the suburbs, rumble and the twisted remains of the Cultist's victims made the going slow as did the need to stop and check every conceivable hiding place to try and find survivors, of which so far there had been none. Hope still remained as soem of the forward scouting parties had reported hearing gun fire closer to the centre of town.

Neue Neue Deutschland:
The Neue Neue Deutsch Ministry of Foreign Affairs woudlr eceive the following reply from Crookfur:
In this time of dark tidings the offer of help of any kind is appreicted. At this time we have only light airbonre forces deployed in the theatre, although a much heavier sea borne deployment is enroute. As such our transport assets are at full stretch supplying and reinforcing our own force, other wise would offer to provide transport for your forces. So far we have enountered little in the way of restiance that would require airsupport but that may change so the offer of fighter aircraft is warmly received, although currently there is no where within range to base them. As for a unified command we are of course receptive to that idea.

OOC: I'm not entirely sure what the geography of the theatre is, for all i know Neue Neue Deutschland could be next door to Khornate tribes, or Khornate tribes could be an island. if you do share a border then the tone of Crookfur messages just got a lot more more freindly (not that it isn't at the moment), with all sorts of offers of aid and supply deals in exahnge for being able to oeprate from Deutsch territory.

OOC: Sure, you can have the primary air port for the capital city...

The barbarians had had their fill of looting for the moment, or so it seemed - it looked like their desire for glorious battle had returned, and so they threw themselves at the nearest enemy - in this case, the Crookfurian paratroopers.
They came at them with courage and fury, foaming at the mouth from beserker battle madness, wildly firing their AKs, some riding horses, others packed onto the backs of beat-up pick-up trucks that had been converted into crude do-it-yourself armoured cars, ("Technicals" is the term the US Army uses for such vehicles), most of which mounted heavy weapons. Still others merely ran at them.
Some of the attackers had even forgotten their rifles, so eager were they to get in close and attack with their blades.
About 1,000 barbarians attacked, and they just seemed to keep coming - they might be fools, but they were brave fools. The paratroopers cut them to shreds as they attacked, but still they came.
By the time the dust cleared, 957 of the attackers were dead, the other 43 wounded so severly that they allowed themselves to be captured. Cassualties to the intervention force are unknown but presumed light.
Upon examination of the dead and wounded, it has been determined that not all of their battle-madness comes from religious fervor - most of them show signs of heavy drug use. Just where a bunch of illiterate horse-riding barbarians got those drugs from, or even better their huge supply of automatic rifles, remains a mystery.

IC: "Final report at 230 casualties, at least 48 dead mostly from booby-traps. Both divisions fully deployed" Doenitz read the report out loud to the assembled staff on the bridge of the Desolation
"All resistance has been cleared, and we're starting to fortify the city" reported a Colonel from the engineers, "we're sewing caltraps to help forstall the advance of horsemen, and the Fortress is firmly in our hands."
"Any survivors from this town?" asked Doenitz
"No more than a handful" came the voice of an SS Major walking onto the bridge, "we're treating them now."
Sighing, Doenitz turned and looked out of the bridge window.
"Just what drove these people to total and utter madness? We need to find out, but in the meantime I want total NBC proceedures. No-one leaves an NBC-proof enivornment without a suit, clear?"
"Sir!" came the assembled replies.
"Now for the next stage of our campaign," continued the Admiral, "it's clear that these nomads have been seduced by the Bolsehviks and no longer believe in order, therefore they must be wiped out wherever they are found if they do no repent. They have declared a total war on these people, so we will have a total war with them!"
The assorted officers all stood and saluted, eager to continue the war.

We welcome your efforts to help resolve this crisis, and would gladly work with your troops. OOC: My deepest appologies for the some what alte post, i have bee experiencing "interesting times" as the saying goes...

IC:
As each name on the casualty list registered in his brain, Colonel McIntyre's mood dropped eeper and deeper into the dark abyss, why hadn't he seen this comming, why had he spread his men so thinly on the probing patrols and why had he let the Logistics crew talk him out of his demands for UAVs?
Almost a hundred men lost, for what? a single airport? much more was needed, much more.

Picking up one of the AK clones taken from a dead cultist, he turned it in the light studying its shape. No obvious markings, but that wasn't a real suprise, these piles of rubbish were manufactured by just about everyone, many of whom had Crookfur to thank for thier plans and machine tools to produce them.

The only thing keepign the Colonel's mind from the abyss of depression and rage was the fact that the runways were now clear and his support was begining to arrive, large rugged transports bringing in more men and ammunition and a few bits of heavier equipment: the odd bulldozer and logisitcs truck in addition to the two thigns he wanted most badly, his tanks and UAVs.

In a few hours the UAvs could be over the city giving him a surveilance capability much more resposnive and detailed than the services offered by what satalittes were availble and once survivors were found, the tanks would allow him to push a column through anything but the toughest defences.

Reply to the Neue Neue Deutsch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Currently we only hold one aiport and while efforts are ongoing to make it capable of hosting fighter units, the condition of the runway and general infrastructure limits use of the facility to aircraft designed and prepared for rough feild and austure facility operations. We estiamte that the airport will be restored to full operational standards within a week and we should be prepared to host your forces at that time.
Our thanks for your assitance and patience in this matter.

The prophet of the tribes sat brooding amidst the ruins of what had once been the grand library. He had never failed his god before. Perhaps it was that he had been too lenient, too soft and tolerent of weakness in others... he silently resolved to begin enforcing the letter of the religious law of his tribe... and that he would soon launch another attack. After all, the half-people who had been supplying the tribes with their weapons had just delivered a new load of weaponry... as he pondered, the prophet reached for the leather pouch on his belt which held the sacred drug that would grant him insight into the mind of his god...

OOC: Someone is supplying the tribes with weaponry - who and why remain to be seen.

The following message has been sent from the Neue Neue Deutsch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Government of Crookfur:

We appreciate your honesty, and hope that peaceful cooperation between our two nations might continue for years to come. We assume that by your statement, you will welcome our fighters in one week, when the air field is ready.
As for now, our 4th Battalion is enroute to the contested territories, on board converted civilian freighters. They will arrive within four days.

- 1,000 NND soldiers are on their way, with 10 converted captured Undershi Viper IFVs and some heavy weapons.

A nomad scout hid amidst the rubble of a burned city, and followed the movements of a transport plane with a pair of binoculars. Having confirmed its general speed and movement, he lifted the Stinger missile launcher to his shoulder, gave a prayer to his god, and fired, sending a high-tech SAM flying towards the target...

OOC: The nomads are begining to target aircraft with shoulder-launched SAMs. These missiles are being launched by infiltrators, hidden in the rubble of the cities or the rocks of the wastelands, and represent a level of technological sophistication miles ahead of the technology previously believed to be possesed by the barbarians.

OOC: Hope you dont mind if I come into this?

IC: Red Tide needed oil, that much was simple. Annual Exercises were coming up and those ate up enough oil to drain the Persian Gulf... figuratively speaking. But then luck arose when a purely massive oil field was found in a nation that had been thrown into chaos. Overrun by barbarians who, by all intents and purposes, would not pose any threat to any Red Tidean Operations.

The plan was simple, two Red Tidean Infantry divisions would land on the coastal point closest to the oil field. One other Infantry Division would stay at sea in reserve as well as a Mechanized-Infantry Division and a Armored Division. To offload the heavy equipment of those last two, the Red Tidean Navy had developed artificial harbors similar to the Mulberries used in the D-Day invasions of WW2.

The landing point was about 100 kilometers North of the Skgorrians Landing Site.

The only real opposition encountered by the Red Tide landing forces came in the form of a few barbarians who, suicidally enough, hid and waited for the landing craft to come in, then fired shoulder launched missiles at the craft, seemingly content to trade their lives for a chance to kill a few of the invaders.
The landing zone was soon secure.

The entierty of 4th Battalion, Neue Neue Deutsch Army, fit on only five converted freighters. As the freighters neared the shore, landing craft carried the men and their supplies in, landing along an open stretch of coast, where they could spot any hostiles as they moved to attack.
As soon as the troops were on shore, they began digging trenches and setting up razor wire and machine gun positions. The Neue Neue Deutsch would not be taken by suprise.
As the troops built up defenses and set up a rough camp, the sixth, seventh and eighth converted freighters landed civilian doctors and aid workers, along with crates of food, pure water and medical supplies.

Even as the international forces made their landings, the nomads continued their foul campaign of slaughter against the city-people. Most of the cities were already reduced to so much charred rubble, but there were still thousands of survivors - as the tribesmen knew, and who they now sought out to slaughter as a final offering to their blood thirsty god. They would not be denied...
Red Tide2
19-08-2006, 23:46
OOC:I assume that the shoulder missiles are anti-aircraft and not anti-tank?

IC:Those few casualties that the Red Tideans took, were absolutely trivial. Red Tidean soldiers, with their metallic gas masks, were like demons from beyond the grave. However, the barbarians worried a sufficient amount of senior commanders for the order to launch a Dark Star Drone to be given.

The Dark Star was a reconnassiance Unamanned Ariel Vehicle, with a RADAR signature smaller then a butterfly and a even smaller infrared signature that cruised at 60,000 feet, far to high for any shoulder fired SAMs to reach. Lights with an auto-brightness dialer made the Dark Star, when combined with its flying height, invisible to the naked eye The camera's in the Dark Star were the first colored camera's in reconniassance air vehicles history, they could see from an entire division and zoom right down to an individual soldier. They were perfect for locating Barbarian Encapments.

Meanwhile, back at the landing zone, the Mulberry Harbor-like ports were being setup and the first one was now operational, with 6 more being constructed and the parts of 4 more were waiting just offshore.

The dull grey, unmarked VTOL transport landed on the prepared field. Barbarian warriors lept from their hiding places and moved towards the craft. As they neared it, the hold opened, revealing case after case after case of cheap AK-47 knock-offs, ammunition... and drugs. Whoever had sent this VTOL was the party responsible for the arming of the tribes, and inthe end, for the destruction of the cities.
The barbarians unloaded the hold, moving quickly, then, as the co-pilot of the craft steped out and watched, they made their way off into the hills, leaving nothing behind as exchange for the weapons and drugs they had taken.

Skgorrian Beachhead, Bridge of the Desolation

Indecision on the part of Skgorrian Central Command had luckily not cost Doenitz's taskforce much, apart from requiring that more and more supplies be shipped in. Looking over reports of the Red Tide landings, Doenitz appeared unconcerned. His mission was to exterminate these barbarians, not capture any oil fields. If Red Tide wanted the oil, fine by Skgorria. The Admiral informed The Leader of the new developments, and requested an update on the arrival of 8th Air Army.

Skgorrian Beachhead, Staging Area 1

Major Dubrovich overlooked the staging area from his temporary command position inside a former department store on the outskirts of the port. Buildings had been levelled and cleared around the outside of the city to provide the Skgorrians with a large ammount of killing ground. Various trenches and fortifications had been built and some older tanks had been flown in specifically to be placed hull-down to act as gun emplacements. These tanks were mostly of the T-55 model, with a few T-72s. Skgorria was determined to utilise all of its assets, both modern and obselete. Clearly marked minefields surrounded key defence emplacements, and artillery, both naval and land, was ready to rain long-range death down upon any attackers.

At the staging area, 2 batallions of armour and mechanised infantry stood ready to mount a sortie. They would be heading south to a town roughly 80km away were various radio signals reported Defense Forces had gathered to make a stand, and thus Skgorria would help these city dwellers make a stand against the hordes. Dubrovich watched as the column snaked out of the port and headed towards its first rendezvous point, hoping that the SS armour and regular infantry would smash any opposition...

With the arrival of the airborne armour the Crookfur forces began to make more serious pushes out from the airport and into the city, fighting almsot constant skirmishs with what Cultist forces they encountered and despite the massive advatages held by the Crookfur troops in terms of firepower, situational awareness and training, casualties were still being taken, for little parrent gain.
Despite this Colonel McIntyre's mood continueed to improve, work was ahead of schedule on the ariport and the pace of supply flights was increasing, although the fact that a few air crews had reported SAM launches made him a little wary but best of all was news that the seaborne forces were now less than 24hours away bringing with them the full might of 2 marine divsions plus at least 1 regular army "ready" divsion, the proximity of the fleet also made aircover much more availble with naval AWACS aircraft helping to give a added degree of awareness (although they had failed to the VTOLs so far).

The tribesmen contested every street corner as though their god was personally telling each of them to fight and die right there. Every building was turned into a defensive position, every rubble pile into a trap.
The cultists now appeared to be quite well equipped, with machineguns, automatic rifles, RPGs and so on. So far, the tribesmen have shown little evidence of long ranged support weapons beyond a few light mortars, but that seems likely to change - after all, they captured quite a few armories when they overran the City People...

The VTOL was quite well stealthed, but with the AWACS aircraft, it was finally noticed. Therefore, it seems that someone overseas is supporting them...

Overhead the Zeppelin loomed, as it dropped off the first tanks and mortars.

The assault on the city would begin.

The two brigades dug in, and made a rough sod airstrip in a field for the UL-2000 Minions.

They reconitered the city with light man-potrable UAVs, a sight the insergents most likely had never seen before...

The planes then went about on long range recon and patrols to spot any marauders while the heavy 125 mm mortars opened fire upon the city, with the intent of leveling select parts of the city most likely providing shelter to the enemy.

The captured VTOL proved of little use in determining just who was funding and supplying the barbarians. It is of an Undershi design, the Arctic Finch class, but that doesn't necesarily mean anything - the Undershis sell weaponry to many foreign nations and even some terrorist organizations. Hauptmann Ludwig Eisner was a worried man. The recent interception of a VTOL that had been proven to have been carrying supplies to the tribesmen worried him. There was a potential for a bigger conflict here, and that also worried him. Still, at least some progress was being made. The Landing Zone had been expanded into a real base, with medical facilities, real barracks and storage for the humanitarian supplies that they would begin distributing as soon as they found any survivors.
Already, their advanced units had linked up with the other primary intervening powers, and it looked like things were going well, except for the horrifyingly low number of survivors. They had found bodies stacked at street corners, and that, that horrified Ludwig - he had read about the old wars, about genocide and slaughter, but this, this was something else entirely - this was experiencing the slaughter from the ground level, seeing the mutilated bodies with his own eyes. It troubled his days, and tormented his nights as he tossed and turned, unable to forget sights that no man should ever have seen. That should never, ever, have been.

The barbarian cavalry charged forward, each warrior shouting a cry to the blood god as the mortar and artillery shells burst amidst their charging ranks. Hundreds fell, and some observers compared it to the Zulu, with their spears, charging the British infantry squares, all bristling with rifles.
Of course, sometimes the Zulus broke a British square...
But, that was not to be upon this day - it was more like the charge of the Light Brigade - they made it all the way into attack range, fought for a few moments, and then, under heavy fire, the last survivors broke ranks and fled. As far as it can be told, none made it back to the city. Only three tribesmen were taken alive, and it is estimated that some two thousand total barbarian horsemen died during that desperate beserk charge.

"Hurt 'em Plenty boys!"

And with that order, 4,000 troops opened fire with 35 mm rifle, 14.5 mm MG, and assorted 5.56 mm bullets - punctuated by the accasional 105 mm shell from the 20 light tanks - from preppared defensive positions.

Next, as the enemy reached "minimum safe engagement range" of the mortars, they were ordered to lay a hasty minefield in front of, then behind, the bloodlusting enemy with their mortars.

Then the real fun began... as every tank was equiped with a dozer blade of sufficient mass to clear its own way through, while the enemy kept blundering into mines...

Every 'tank' also happened to carry a flamethrower, just for public appearances such as this.

The High Command had made its decision. Now, they spoke, conveying their choice to the people of their land...
A man in the black uniform of the IIS stood at a podium, backed by a row of IIS Storm Troopers, so disciplined and still that they might have been statues. This "press conference" concept was a new one to the Undershis, but they knew propaganda, so they felt secure enough to try.
Members of the international press had been invited to this little conference, and now stood below the platform, waiting to hear what the Undershi government had to say.
Finally, the IIS man spoke:
"The Undershi Empire has long been a part of the Corporate Alliance. As such, we have decided to invite them to take part in this latest operation to be conducted by the Undershi military. This will be a joint operation, with the following member states of the CA: the Blackhelm Confederacy and the Maldorians, with some observers and reconstruction crews from No Taxes and 31337 Soup." he paused for a moment, building up the suspense, then continued:

The Nimitz-Class Supercarrier NTS Anton Maximilian stood off the shore of the Khornate Tribes with escorts, of course. Not that a Naval battle was anticipated it was just thought to always be a wise decision to place guard ships around something as massive and expensive as a carrier. Meanwhile troop transports steamed towards the beach to unload the two No Taxes Defence Inc. Rapid Response Brigades numbering 11,500 total troops. Along with the Infantry were 50 Light Tanks, 100 IFVs and 500 APCs for each brigade. Thus, the two Brigades as their names suggest are able to move quickly once on land. If any heavy firepower was needed the 70 F/A 32 Dogma Multi-Role Fighters or the 10 Comanche Attack Helicopters waiting on the NTS Anton Maximilian would be called in. In extreme situations the other CA nations in the Khornate Tribes with larger forces could be called in to help.

Once on the beach the RRBs got organized and prepared to meet up with the other forces from the CA and then move on to the capital.

The Chosen of Khorne, the Prophet of the Tribes, cursed bitterly. It seemed that their foreign allies had gotten the better of them after all, cutting them off just as massive waves of City People soldiers attacked their warriors within the cities. Things were not looking good for the warriors of his god... sighing, he decided on a course of action that, while it would grate on him, and dishonor him before his god, would allow for the survival of his race - they would flee back to the grass lands, where the terrain favored their horses, and there... there they would fight a guerilla war against these new occupiers... just as they had fought against the old ones. These air craft will be using napalm to create large-scale firestorms in the tribal territories that they seem to be retreating to, which are mostly grass land, and will then, once we have them trapped, hit their positions with a light aerial bombardemnt - we estimate that we will use aproximately ten kilo-tonnes worth of tactical nuclear weapons during the final phase of this operation.

The ships landed at the temporary ports constructed by the Griffencrest Corporation and began unloading their vehicles. With that, his mind made up, he spoke, and his words were carried to all the tribes... they would withdraw, sacrificing honor that they might fight another day.

After the failed barbarian assault, the Hurtian forces rushed the city with little difficulty, took the nearby airport, and signaled the task force that they had succeded and that they were ready to take reinforcements.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor sat in his office, reading the latest reports, and actually crying. It just didn't seem fair - he was doing the best he could, but there was only so much a nation that was a military weakling could do - he could protest to the U.N. or the A.F.A. council, sure, but what good would that do? No, even if Neue Neue Deutschland was rich, it wasn't strong enough to fight super-powers like Undershi, at least not if it wanted to remain rich and free. Sighing, he taped an intercomm button, and called for his Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense. Somehow he knew which one he would spend more time consulting with...

Despite their flaws the Lexin model soldier was every Generals dream, they reminded the General of the Kraven Capitol Police, cold efficient killers with no remorse or sympathy but almost undying loyalty, but still with twange of character left inside the fractured mind of over 26 of some of the most experienced soldiers in Toopoxia.

But there was a problem, there was not an unlimited number of these soldiers, it required volunteers and semi alive vegitables to bump up the numbers, Lucian Brave still had some sympathy for his people despite being a brutal colonialist, and that was why General Octonius was here, these people wern't Toopoxican, it was a nation that Lucian did not care about, the people could be forced into the military and increase the numbers for more of these soldiers.

Camp Glass, Mafia Stronghold, 30% complete, 1st airstrip constructed

A group of Mafia soldiers, a 2.5 ton truck, and 3 technicals returned to the base. They got out, screaming in joy. The commander walked out to see what was going on.

They then flipped the body of a dead tribesman over and smiled. Of course the commander was mystified and the thug pulled out his combat knife and cut a necklace around the man's neck. The commander took it and his eyes grew wide. They were diamonds, large diamonds, 10 carats, some even larger, interspersed with other valuable gems and human teeth.

The thugs then pulled out a bloodied bag from the tribesman and revealed it was filled with all sorts of diamonds and a primitive map showing where to find more.

A group of HT-101 Vanquish APCs along with some technicals and two trucks, filled with heavily armed soldiers and grunts with shovels left the base.

Hauptmann Ludwig Eisner was feeling as miserable as he had ever felt before in his life. They were about to leave, about to abandon the people they had been sent to help, and there was nothing he could do about it.
Sure, they would be taking those locals who had made it to their camp along with them, helping them to escape from the Undershi fascists as they advanced, but still - they had come here to help the people, and now, now they were running.
He hated running - it was something he had grown up knowing was a bad idea - it only made the scum chase you, and he personally wanted nothing more than to be sure that the Undershi never, ever, ever, in a million years invaded Neue Neue Deutschland. Still, without more men and machines, there was nothing he could do. It looked as though the withdrawl would begin in a matter of days.

- The Neue Neue Deutsch Expeditionary Force is preparing to withdraw in good order - over the course of the next two days, all of the refugees in the NND camps will be evacuated, followed by, over the course of the third day, the medical staff, and over the course of another two days, the Neue Neue Deutsch soldiers. As the sun rose over the horrizon, the barbarians struck - there were sixty of them, with RPGs and AK knock-offs, coming out of the hills to attack a convoy of the Blackhelm Confederacy, striking at it with seeming disreguard for their own lives.

Haraki
14-09-2006, 00:21
With conflicting standing orders in the foreign affairs department of the Harakian government, those assigned to dealing with Neue Neue Deutschland were faced with an interesting dilemma. While at the same time they were faced with a standing order to try not to provoke other nations, they were also faced with a standing order to try and help out Harakian allies - including Neue Neue Deutschland, a nation Haraki had, in a manner of speaking, taken under their wing.

The problem was that parliament was unwilling to deploy troops to assist the Neue Neue Deutsch forces. Having just authorized a massive expansion of ground forces in Danteri, where they were involved in an uneasy standoff with Undershi forces, parliament was less than happy to deploy more troops into a situation where they would be attempting to stop the advance of a massive Undershi army, which could quite possibly provoke an international incident on a scale not seen by Haraki in quite some time. Luckily, there was a more covert option. As Haraki and Neue Neue Deutschland were allies, the selling of vastly subsidized (read: nearly free) military equipment had already been a part of their relationship, with Haraki building an entire carrier task force for the Neue Neue Deutsch in exchange for token amounts of money to get their allies' navy off the ground, further deals would be far from unheard of. The soldiers themselves would have to come from Neue Neue Deutschland (or Harakian volunteers, like the international brigades) but the Harakians could send military advisors to help with Harakian-style high quality training, and sell military equipment to the Neue Neue Deutsch for small amounts of money.

What was proposed was an initial deal as the building block to further ones, composed of Harakian construction of twenty-four multirole fighter planes plus twenty-four attack planes for close air support roles for the Neue Neue Deutsch, plus the sixty already provided for the Neue Neue Deutsch carrier. This would go along with the proposed deal to sell ground equipment, which was composed of a deal that involved the sale of older Harakian medium and light tanks that had been removed from frontline use over the past five years, along with older APCs and self-propelled artillery pieces, and a standing deal for regular sales of small arms and ammunition to the Neue Neue Deutsch. The items offered for sale were not quite modern, but were only about a decade out of date. The sale of this equipment would help Haraki as well as Neue Neue Deutschland, as the older units were mostly being either completely decomissioned and mothballed or sold off as the older units modernized with new equipment. By selling it to allies, the Harakians no longer had to worry about what to do with the old equipment and could freely replace it.

Going hand-in-hand with the deal was a proposed joint military operation that would establish the 'Harakian-Neue Neue Deutsch Military Academy', a joint Harakian-Neue Neue Deutsch training centre, situated in Neue Berlin, which would be staffed by two hundred Neue Neue Deutsch and Harakian administrators and instructors who would train new recruits (ostensibly from both nations) to make them the best quality possible, as befit the Harakian strategy of high quality troops and the best equipment possible. This would allow Neue Neue Deutsch (and some Harakian) recruits to receive high quality training that would also help them in joint Haraki-NND operations in future, as the forces would have trained together, the training slated to involve some time spent on joint integration of the two nations' forces together in military operations where they were operating in the area of operations as a tightly-joined coalition of equals.

This, of course, was all proposed to the Neue Neue Deutsch government in one long message, which included the information on why the Harakians could not directly intervene in the area at that time as well as the proposed Harakian military aid.

As the forward units reported the Undershi advance, Hauptmann Ludwig Eisner was faced with a tough decision - most of the refugees were gone, as were most of the medical and humanitarian aid personel, but most of his men were still in their positions.
Should they retreat and risk the Undershis overwhelming them in a sudden strike? Or, should they stay put and risk the Undershis attacking them when they came into range? Finally, again miserably, he decided on their future course of action - they would fall back, abandoning the outer defenses, while attempting a slow, organized, withdrawl. They were in no shape to fight, even with the new Haraki gear - most of it was back home, where the 1st Armoured Battalion was begining training, as were the 7th, 8th and 9th Battalions of regular troops, as well as the new airforce units.
Right now, he had only about 1,000 men and a few dozen Undershi Viper IFVs they had recieved from Danteri with which to oppose a force many times their number. Therefore, for now he would withdraw. But, well, if they pushed him too far, then they would see what the Neue Neue Deutsch Army could do...

They appear intent on merely forcing the Neue Neue Deutsch into a humiliating forced withdrawl, primarily to underscore their superiority, than in a direct fight that could be avoided.

The camp commander seemed taken back by the Blackhelm's outburst. Still, he managed a calm reaction:
"Those barbarians had already served their purpose. They were religious fanatics, the worst sort - and as you've seen, we haven't gotten all of them - already the form partisan bands and raid our convoys once more." he checked something on his desk then, interupting his speach, but then returned his attention to his visitor in order to add:
"I really don't see what your problem is."

Nukes are not supposed to be things to use as if they are some kind of easy button. They are to be used when there is no other choice. Now listen. Can we work things out so we don't have anymore nuclear incidents against tribesmen?" Cmdr. Bronzehammer said. He was rather calm now, having gotten most of his anger out in the initial outburst.

The NNDEF is continuing its withdrawl, concentrating on the evacuation of non-combatants and refugees first. Already, all of the refugees have been withdrawn, as have nearly all of the non-combatants. The military portion of the expedition is still in place, though - although they have retreated all the way to their beach Landing Zone and a perimiter around it.

The Neue Neue Deutsch Expeditionary Force made its way into the boats, with Hauptmann Ludwig Eisner the last of them all to leave that blasted land. As he stood on the beach, and watched the Undershi tanks waiting on the heights, he felt something growing inside of him - those Undershis, those fascists, had forced him to retreat, had forced him to acknowledge that his nation could not yet stand up to their power. At that moment, on that beach, as he stepped into the last of the landing craft, he made himself a promise - so long as he lived, he would seek the defeat of the Undershi and all other fascists.

I've got a 'city' full of the indigs (indiginous people) of Khornate.
I think I sent one over to the GASN lobby to plead their need to be reconized and therefore defended.

In the time since his arrival and assumption of control General Johansen had watched the situation deteriote, Oh sure his "sector" was doign very well, after the port was secured and he had managed to acheive a link up with the airborne forces in the capitol, thigns had gone smoothly, the well equipped Crookfur forces grandually pushing what few of the "cultists" remained out of the area. With an open port redevlopement work on the capitol was going well and what remained of the local security forces was being expanded after receiving a large amoutn of training and new equippment from the Crookfur forces. No the issue was otuside in the rest of the country, just as it looked as though the small international coalition was making headway all these... carpetbagers appeared from the CA, bloody vultures seeking to rip off a nation when it was down. If it wasn't for his strict orders not to interfer with other antions efforts he would have pushed them back into the sea. Johansen still didn't understand why High Command had continued to hold back after the nuclear detonations, probabaly soemthing with trying not to appear as beign imperialist or soem such rubbish. And now we had the potential for a major flash point with the various conflcits surounding the CA finally reaching these shores. The general was finding it very hard to keep track of who was who in all these insane wars, who in GASN could be trusted and who couldn't? At least the issue of troops arriving from Wanderjar had forced High command's hand and brought about the mobilization of the Highland Corps and another of the Main Battle Groups, now if the balloon did go up he would ahve soem serious firepower.

One of the radio operators was awoken with a start as the Wanderjarians broadcasted their jocular introduction, which had the volume cranked to better listen to the weak transmissions from New Roanoke Island, almost a world away, apparently they are at war with some terrorists, known as the Corprate Alliance? Weren't these their allies when they landed here? Has that much changed?

The Wanderjarian transmission answered the question for him, as he cranked down the volume and responded.

"Uh, this is, um, Khornate Refugee Camp One... location: *Latitude*-*Longitude-*altitude*, how's life in the outside world?"

(OOC: Khornate is a bit out of the way from the Griffencrest war, and therefore the recent news hasn't really been recieved/understood over here)

Northfordian National News

Breaking News,

In a bold move today, the Government of Northford has announced the transferal of Executive control of the Northfordian Expeditionary Peacekeeping Force (NEPF) to the Peoples Republic of Hurtful Thoughts, in an effort to ensure stability is kept during the conflict with Khornate Tribes. Responding to calls of aid from the PROHT, the Government's Junior Defence Secretary to the GASN, James Grevaes, had this to say:

"This event has been long brewing for some time. In response to what are valid requests for aid, the Commonwealth sends this force forward to ensure that both Northfordian and GASN assets and interests are protected abroad.

This force will consist of 300 000 persons, of whom 50 000 are civilians, with the rest being enlisted military personell. Leading the force, is the Hurtian commander, Major Stryker, who is, in GASN military circles, considered to be the top of his class.

As it stands, a forward taskforce is being sent to the PROHT, to prepare airstrips and foundations for the bases they will operate out of. The main forceare to be prepared to leave Northford by a week tomorrow, seeing the biggest launch of ships we have ever seen. They will have all the stores, ammunition and prefabed facilities to allow them to set themselves up permanant forward bases where ever they are sent.

A small forward base will be established in the PROHT, which will be operated in a joint fashion, with Northfordian civilians and military personel working with Hurtian peoples. This will be used as a refueling point for Northfordian Strategic Aircraft, which will then be sent on to the point at which the force is being deployed.

Let it be made clear, that while the PROHT is providing tactical leadership for this operation, on a strategic level this is still a joint Northfordian-Hurtian operation. My collegue, and partner in this war on corporate facists, Major Stryker..............

The barbarians had planned their latest attack for a long time - now they struck - in the middle of the night, mortar shells began falling on an Undershi air field.
As the shells struck, the defenders began to react... and were hit by sniper fire from waiting marksmen. By the time a coherent response could be organized, the tribesmen were long gone, fled into the wilderness - they had left behind, however, a number of booby traps at the sites they had used for their mortar attacks...

OOC: This is just to let everyone know that the barbarians are still fighting the occupiers. We're not beaten yet!

IC: The response to the enquiry from Khornate personel within the HT sector wasn't the msot enlighteningin terms of information but would be revealing about Crookfur attitudes. In general the message would express a lack of knowledge about what the events and newly arriving forces would mean although such a lack of defiantive information was accompanied by a strong suspicion that things were heading towards a settleing of scores resulting from outside conflicts.

Crookfur attitiudes towards the propest of Northford forces are perhaps a little more positive than they had been for other antionalities, the Crookfur government had actually talked to Northford at one time (even thought it was merely to sell them jet fighters) which was a lot more than they ahd done with anyone else in the area.

OOC:
The Khornate Tribes: i know this might sound a little odd but would you mind if I used the geography of the west of scotland (mainly strathclyde and ayrshire) as a basis for the terrain of the "Crookfur sector"? as a sumary it would be on the western edge of the nation, features a large river in the northern hald on which sits the capitol (ie glasgow) and a few large port towns, the southern half is mostly farm land and rolling hils with a few largish coastal towns (possibly upped to cities for the sake of RP.

As the mortar shells fell on the Undershi base, the Undershi prepared and dispatched their rapid reaction force - thirty Crusader helicopter gun ships, flying straight towards the enemy mortar sites, with a dozen Arctic Finch VTOL Air Infantry transports following behind.
The Crusaders were hitting the mortar sites almost immediatly, then following the fleeing tribesmen - there would be a slaughter...
In all, only three Undershi at the air base were killed - all of them Janissary flight crew.

K, but I'm stuck RPing Northfordian forces, as explained on the linked thread the quote is from.

IC
The men at the R+R center of the Hurtian/Khornate refugee center watched a rather interesting video from a more local station in Northford, to find out that their leader would now command another 300,000 men.

"This place is going to get awfully cramped..."

At sea
The Northfordian task force was supposed o trade off with the Hurtian equivilant, but instead was met by half the ships 'donated' to the 'GASN NAVY' by PROHT.

Consists of:
50 Tango class Submarines
25 Hiragi class Heavy Cruisers
50 Sniper class Destroyers

1 Marian Stanton Class CVM
1 Indomitable-class Aircraft Carrier, HTS Independance

The fact that they proudly displayed the GASN banner on their smokestacks would do something to the GASN's image, depending on how the operation went. A success would be very good, a much needed boost to GASN's faltering PR, however a failure would be very bad to say the least.

Griffincrest forces were now quite content on full out slaughtering these Khornate folk. The barbarians had been pressing too hard on the GSF supply convoys, and now it was time to strike back.

Just after the sun was down over the horizon, two AV-18 VTOL gunships hovered in over a barbarian camp. Without any warning, the ETC chainguns tore open, slicing through the tents like a knife through butter. Behind them, nearly a dozen Mercury APC's, each with its loadout of eight men as it pounded away wih its 30mm autocannon. These mercenaries were dressed different then their regular counterparts. These men wore gray, rather than the traditional Griffincrest Jet Black. On each mans right breast, over the Kevlar, was a great golden Griffin. These mercenaries showed no mercy as they hit the camp. They were ordered to do unto the barbarians what they had done to the city people. Any barbarian male they found, no matter the age, was slain on the spot. Barbarian women were raped. Screams and desperate pleas were entirely ignored by these heartless men.

A jet black Humvee, sporting the familiar golden Griffin soon sped into the ruined village. Two heavy jackboots stepped out of the passenger door. His gray trenchcoat trailed all the way to the ground. Dark black buttons went up his body, over his Griffin badged chest. He wore dark black sunglasses over a scar over his right eye. Over his short black hair he wore a gray hat with a small Griffin, under which read "Vis di Obses Penitus", or Internal Security Force. The Hurtian Radio operator was baffled/confused by what he read on a telegram sent from one of the boats.

Encrypted:
"THIS IS CHING CHONG CHINA LEE! We're here to help"

He then asked for them to clarify...

"Duh, we're at war with those Corprate alliance terrorists! And since your outfit hasn't been updated yet, we thought you could use extra assistance beside the Northfordian volunteers."

This further confused him...

"Well, yeah, we're sending you some Hurtian Royal Marine Raiders! Best of the best of the best there is in the world!"

This didn't help him much, as he never even heard of the "Royal Hurtian Marine Raiders" and he was a Hurtian Marine himself...

"What do you mean you never heard of them? They've been working the best peacekeeping missions in the world"

Now he was certain they where pulling his leg, the 'best peacekeepers' PROHT had were their very own FBIA, and a specific branch, the FBIA (SOC) occasionally showed up saving the world someplace, but never in the media.

"Yeah, they used to be the FBIA, or a part of it, but ever since this massive reorganization, we've got better weapons, body armour, and a ton more troops fully equiped for combat."

'Alright fine, when do we recive these "wonder boys"?'

"Just as soon as you promise not to shoot us down and to provide Surface based ECM against Corprate radars."

'No need for that, your flight was cleared with them, prepare to land, you are our regular schedualed resupply flight, correct'

Now it was time for the radioman on the other end to be confused, as there hadn't been a single Hurtian airdrop in support of this unit since their deployment...

OOC: BC: You are aware that these are supposed to be Khornate cultists aren't you? As in they are frothing mad battle addicts who seek nothing more than to bring skulls before thier god Khorne and if thier skull is one of those harvested, then so be it, because of this cultist "groups" would have little in the way of a logistics train, camp followers or settlements. This is both the Strangth and weekness of nomadic cultists as while it gives them unlimited strategic and tactical flexibility it does force them onto the offensive as they quite literially have to fight and destroy to eat. Probabaly the peak strength of the Cultist "uprising" was just before the arrival of outside forces and since then has been dropping off unless there is soem source of outside support, as reffered to by KT.
Of course this is not to say that all the "insurgent" activity encountered by CA forces is purely down to the cultists, certain sections of the city people are likely finding themselves having access to large amounts of modern weaponry and finding "accidentially misplaced" intel documents detailing CA convoy movements...

IC:
Location: Southeastern district of the Crookfur Sector

Bother Captain De Payne gazed grimly on the bunrt out remains of the farm, a blackened scar on the otherwise lush countryside of this part of the nation. As Head of the Inquisitorial Provest section responsible for the entire Crookfur sector, De Payne had seen too of these small and wasteful cruelties. Following the successful operations of the Crookfur forces against the larger cultists warbands many had splintered, either due to internal infighting or simply a desire to survive, most cultists, when denied the example of thier more fanatical brethern, were generally able to recongise that there came a time when a retreat could do more to honor thier "god".
And now with the cities and larger towns more or less secured and the main highways patroled by heavy columns the cultists had been forced into attackign the isloated farms that housed msot of the small population belonging to this part of the country. Ironically the farms had largely been spared the worst during the intial out burst of cultist activity, the warbands more interested in the greater spoills and less well armed populance of the cities. It was only now as the fractured groups got desperate that the farms became viable targets, expensive targets at that, thought De Payne as he mentally tallied the cultist bodies strewn aroudnt he farm along side
those of the residents.
As the Inquisitor carefully toured the remains oen of his aides appraoched

"Sir, you will want to this" informed the Provest, gesturing towards the other side of the compound. Following his aide De Payne shortly came across the first new thing he had seen for some weeks: before him lay a body, quite clearly a cultist from the marks and signils emblazoned across his body but equally clearly not one of the momandic tribesmen who had up to now respresented all of the cultists encountered. So it now seemed that the cultists were actively recriuting and if the taint was now in the open here there was a good chance it was festering away unseen in those areas currently considered free of its influence. De payne was quick to get in touch with IP head quaters in the capitol, this could be bad...

OOC: KT I am not sure if you want to run with a hiden chaos taint amoungst the survivors or not (maybe the barbarian uprising was merely the result of khorne vs slaanesh/tzeentch fued which everyone has unwittingly walked into the middile of) so i can play down the possible implications and let this return to a more "conventional" counter insurgency affair.

07-10-2006, 00:12
The barbarian's AA missiles caught the Undershi helicopter pilots off balance - they were easy meat for the tribesmen for the seconds that it took them to realize the danger and react.
In those few seconds, several of the missiles struck home - three Crusader gunships and one Arctic Finch VTOL went down in flames... in a few seconds, the barbarians had ended the lives of 30 True Undershis, doing more damage than they could have hoped.
The Undershi reaction was to pull back the helicopters... and send in Thunderer fighter-bombers with napalm. The barbarians would burn, and in so doing pay some small fee for the losses they had inflicted - the Undershi are not a numerous race, and so any losses hurt. Still, The Free Land of The Khornate Tribes belongs to the CA... and so they will continue fighting until they have won their battle.

OOC: When I say napalmed, I mean napalmed - they're wiping out an area of about one square kilometer.

The Next Day

Undershis do not react well to the loss of some of their own. When dawn came, a massive collumn of Undershi armour left the Undershi bases... they were going "hunting"... and oh what a hunt it would be...

Why does nobody ever stop to wonder why napalm went out the window not long after they "perfected" the cluster bomb?

IC:
It was becoming increasingly clear to the Crookfur comanders in the region that the forces of the CA really had little clue about what they were dealing with and as such were simply lashing out in revenge after failing to take any real steps to properly secure thier sectors, Nuclear detonations and the burning of random swaths of land were a sharp contrast to the more targeted Road and block house and hearts and minds campaign waged by Crookfur forces.
More than few analysts were beginnign to advance the theory that the trouble faced by the CA was a result of more than just the Cultist warbands, many were now openly expressing a belief that "city folk" and other citizens were beginning to rise up against thier "saviors". This beleif was given a bit more weight when reports occasionally came in of individuals and small groups from the newly trained and equipped indiginous security forces simply disappearing, taking thier nice new Crookfur weaponry with them.
With all this in mind, Crookfur stand off intelligence and surveilance platforms were paying more attention to covering the CA sectors. It was hoped that a serious flare up could be avoided but with recent events, particularly the apparent random deployment of a heavy armour force, such a happening was lookign increasingly likely.

OOC:
The mention of indiginous force disppearing is not nessicarily linked to any idea of them acting agaisnt the CA, they might be a part of a plot by another chaos group as a introduced earlier.

I think it is about time we had some sort of rough map of the country, particualry to show the "sectors" controlled by extranational forces.
Undershi
07-10-2006, 00:50
OOC: Why napalm? Well, one of the really big reasons that napalm was discarded is that it's a terrifyingly horrific weapon - it friggen burns!!! So, the real reason that the Undershis are using it is because they want to burn the barbarians - not to merely kill them efficiently. For real fighting, we have clustrer bombs... oh, and as for the "random" deployment of an armoured force... they're going off on a punitive expidition - i.e., they're going off and killing as many barbarians as they can find.

Just don't send them my way, as they might not come back...

Actually Napalm was dumped because it is a horribly ineffective weapon. I really don't mind as long as you understand this and have a proper IC reason for using it other than "OMG NAPALM ROCKZORZZ. As for your armour, i know what they are up to, you know what they are up to but do my commanders on the ground? most likely not, they simply see a column of armour heading out into the countryside and see it as just another headless chicken response from the (as far as they are concerned border line useless) CA.

Even though I do not know what the tanks are up to, and my men on the ground have absolutely no clue what they are up to. It really doesn't matter, since Hurtian forces designated their refugee center as a haven from CA forces, that goes especially for Undashi.

The Undershi armour is conducting "Take and Hold" operations against strategic points - they're deploying battalion sized forces in fortified positions positioned to secure the regions in which they are placed.
Additionally, they are under orders to kill or capture anyone they see as they conduct these operations. The Undershis are no longer satisfied to sit in their bases - now they're conducting raids...

Crookfur forces are however looking a lot harder at CA activities and a change in stance is not unlikely, particualry if Nukes are used again (in which case we might have to respond in kind, not something anyone wants as we are holders of some of the NS world's biggest nukes).

Griffincrest forces were now setting up their own, firm, zone of control, sealed off from the rest of the nation by helicoter patrols and security check points. Sure, a heavily armed force would overrun the checkpoints, but the point was not to have any more heavily armed forces. All people within the forty square miles of Griffincrest control were ordered to report to the nearest checkpoint to their home. If they did not, they would be considered a barbarian, and treated accordingly. At the checkpoint, every man, woman, and even children were told to right their name, address, political party, religion, medical conditions, and birthday on a card. In return, they were given a number and sent on their way.

After a week of nothingness, all of the cards were finally processed. The gray painted Mercuries were soon seen rolling throughout the countryside. They were all told to aprehend any person marked as either anarchist or communist. After that, they recieved Executive Order 215, possibly one of the most heinous direct orders Griffincrest has given. The GISF men were ordered to pull all mentally disabled people in their zone of control, and take them, along with the Communists and Anarchists, back to the main base for processing.

Once at the main base, the processing began. Anarchists and Communists were sent to the left line, the disabled herded into the right. For the political enemies, they would be shipped off to various places around the Griffincrest corporate Empire, mainly camps in Vik, Kamasha, or The Husk Airbase, RFF. These two places housed some of the largest GISF prison camps, but others could be sent elsewhere, like Arterus or Beiraq.

The mentally handicapped were soon exposed to a series of tests by a group of Griffincrest scientists, meant to determine their exact mental state. Those deemed to be too passive were delivered back to their homes within Griffincrest run territory. It was the ones that displayed psychotic tendencies that the scientists looked for. These men and women were to be kept, and armed. Soon, they would be used as something of a counter-force of barbarians, even more insane than the first.

Representations from the Crookfur govenrment to all CA alinged groups in the Tribalia are gradually becoming less and less wordy and more clear in the threat of military action, action that might involve operations outside of the Tribalian theatre.

Tribalia Prime, Crookfur Sector
(temp name for the capitol until KT can tell me what it should be called)

As the first tendrils of dawn crept over the shattered carcas of the one proud city a small team of Provests disembarked from thier armoured land rovers and began moving into a miraculously unscathed apparment block in what been an up market of the city.

Movign quietly but rapidly through the biulding they formed up on thier objective: one of the larger flats within the complex and home to a high ranking member of reconstructed indiginous adminsitration.
As the Strike team took up positions on either side of the door way the Senior officer hammered on the reinforced wood of the Door.
"By order of the governing council I have a warrent to enter these premises for the purpose of conducting a search and to detain any persons found residing within these premises..."
Before the officer could finish the required speach, he was cut short by a burst of automatic ripping through the door. Even though slowed by passing through the door and stopped by the officer's body armour, the bullets still retained enough energy to knock him from his feet and so to Cries of "Officer Down" the assault temas flowed into action: the breaching operator using his shotgun to blast the door off its hindges allowing the rest of the team to sweep in behind 2 flashbang's, guns tracking across the room looking for threats and firing when they found...

Later Inquisitor McLeod, stood in what remained of the flat's living room trying to sort out what carnage had been here before the Provests had been forced to eliminate msot of the people present in the flat. As his gaze fell upon the riuned body of young girl, shackled to some kind of wooden altar he could only wish that the warnings and signs had been heeded earlier, so that the life of the young girl before him and undoubtably others like her could have been saved, De Payne had been right, the was soemthing deeply wrong afoot and McLeod could only hope they coudls top it before Crookfur was forced to deal with the CA, the power of chaos within this nation had been shattered by the dispersal of the cultist tribes, but it wasn't completely dead and was managing to draw sustainance from the ongoing instability. Letting his eyes wander back across the room and settle on the body of the Administrator McLeod wondered if he had truely known what he was about and what of the others? Was this a true serious cult or simply scarred minds taking back the power and strength they felt the tribes had robbed them of and getting a little twisted fun on the side. What ever the answer, the taint had to be excised even if the city ahd to be burnt to make that happen.

I suggest we take a bit of a pause until Khornate tribes can make a post, after all it is his RP.

We still need to sort out exactly where everyone is and possibly get soem sort of vague map together, which i volunteer to do if KT so wishes.

Next is the issue of Tech levels, as it stand the original main Rp before the arrival of the CA was pretty much MT and from what i can see soem of the CA players do indulge in a fair bit of PMT. I would suggest that we simply level everythign to MT. Undershi i am very sorry but this is likely to affect you the most although it shouldn't be a huge issue, power armour simply becomes Mod tech armoured battle suits capable of stopping pistol and most light rifle ammuntion (electronics like suit radios, GPS etc are all fine), infantry weapons just becoem high powered rifles and rail guns on naval vessels are fine (if limited).

Personally i feel there is sill a bit of misunderstanding about the nature of chaos and for those of us exposed to GW's wibblings it can often be diffiuclt to remeber that not everyone can be bothered with it, so please bear with us when we get a little bit testy and patronising when an issue that might involve "powers beyond human ken" arrises, like BC's plan, which is a very good way to open a rather direct conduit for the chaos powers to exploit.

MT, with very limited PMT capabilities at higher echolon areas that where improved mostly by various actions with/against FT and PMT nations.

(Such as donated medical knowladge, though the average Hurtian is far too stupid to comprehend any of it, and is mostly limited to early attempts at gene thearapy and advanced bio-engineering, cybernetics and plasma weapons are avoided since they are reletively high maintnance (so we don't use those)

In a nutshell, everything I use is mostly MT, except for a few of my modified troops and WMDs, you can judge for yourself where the 18" electro magneticly augmented railway guns lie in this web of hybrid tech.

And although I did get into a very odd skirmish with a magic wielding nation a long time back, not much was gained from them. Except that magic characters act crazy from the viewpoint of a 'rational' MT character.
"Dude, you can't fly..."
"Sure you can! All it is simply falling and missing the ground!"
"... [thump]"
"Dangit!"

It sure isn't capable of standing up to FT, would prove only a speed bump to a true PMT and could (if I use WMD) sow devestation upon MT nations (except I hardly use Bio-weapons extensively, you'll know when you read it), so I guess I'd call it "advanced MT due to friends in high places"

And I guess it is a bad time to mention I've still got an MT man in an FT area with a captured spacecraft, the battle damaged ruined hulk it is. He's still MIA, and I plan on leavinh him that way unless/until I figure out what a badly damaged ship of whatever class he's in can do, other than go through space really fast.

Such a ship crashing would quickly send my nation into a pure PMT segment, not quite HALO/BattleMech realm, but very close to it. And I'm not ready to memorize theoretical physics in order to compete effectively with the other PMTs.

In The Refugee Camps

Ernest Kruger glanced over his shoulder, nervously checking for any spies who might be trailing him. He knew that his religion wasn't exactly in favor with the new powers in town, but what could he do? Anyway, the members of that cult made up most of the anti-Undershi resistance amoung the City People, so weapons and so on were hardly in short supply...
And, in such times as these, would anyone really care if a few miserable lost children vanished from the refugee camps to feed The Dark Prince? Slanesh was a demanding master... and he, like the others of his cult, intended to serve him as best he could.
He smilled as he entered the shack they had converted into a crude temple - who was it who had said that "in times such as these, even the Gods are on field rations"?
As he entered, two men in the ragged remains of Citizen Defense Force uniforms lept to attention, raising their rifles - new ones, courtesy of the anti-CA alliance and its intention to create a guerilla army - and saluted - the master of the cult in all of the oh-so-misnamed Free Land of The Khornate Tribes had come into their presence.
As he walked into the inner room, he heard a faint whimper, and began to smile - he always enjoyed fresh victims for his god. As he reached to open the door, he heard one of the guards speak:
"Yes, Master - that's a new sacrifice, alright - eight years old, perfect for the Dark Prince..." he trailed off as he saw the smile on his Master's face. Some things were too much for those newly dedicated to the Chaos gods, and such sacrifices were often one of them - these guards, for example, had been recruited only days ago... and they still possesed some of the foolish morality that the official ethics of the old system had drummed into those of its lower classes. They still felt... queasy, perhaps was the word, about seeing a man smilling so broadly as he prepared to murder an eight year old child.

Even for true Khornate cultists, fighting agaisnt some the lightest elements of the Crookfur armed forces, victory had always been elusive and such this ploy was doomed to nothign but a miserable failure comming as it did against the prepared and mechanised might of the 2nd Highland divsion and the well prepared defences lining the boundary between the CA and Crookfur sectors.

"The IIS takes an ill view of your ravings, Colonial Commander." the IIS man looked smooth and polished in his black half-armour, and seemed all the more urbane for the obvious disgust he showed towards the Regular Army officer who sat at the desk in front of him, his uniform un-startched, in fact with its sleeves hacked off to accomadate the horrifically hot weather. Hardly the image of Undershi martial pride. Still, he had a reputation for effectiveness when dealing with guerillas - that particular band of Marxist insurgents in Paxton province, how he broke them through sheer bloody-minded stuborness and brutality... it wasn't an inventive approach, but it had done for the butcher's work of initial Occupation. Now, now he was complaining, speaking of fanatics unlike anything ever seen before... and the IIS refused to listen. He tried to make his point again:
"But sir, these people... they fight to the death more readily than any enemy I have ever seen! They are not intimidated by brutality - just this morning, I ordered a captured guerilla impaled... and sir, he enjoyed it! These people are mad!" the IIS man sneered at that, replying,
"Perhaps, dear Colonial Commander, it is merely that you have been away from Undershi City for too long. I have read the reports on your activities in Paxton Province, and they impress me - that idea you had, to publicly impale the family members of known guerillas until they surrendered... genius. You broke the Marxists in Paxton, and you can break these... these cultists." the officer at his desk laughed, a bitter, sad and miserable laugh, and made reply:
"You have obviously not faced these rebels then, my oh-so-superior superior... I tell you, they are not like the Marxists. I will need... I tell you, I will not be able to break these cults unless I slaughter every single one of them and a good half of the remaining populace!" the IIS man sneered again, and commented, in a gratingly superior tone:
"And what is to stop you from doing so?" to which the colonial commander could make no reply...

It was merely a test of your defenses. What do you have in this nation, and where are they located?

OOC:
At the momet i have:
2 Corps of troops:
1st Rapid deployment Corps consiting of:
2 Airborne divsions
1 Marine divsion
1 Light Divsion (air mobile)
1 Ready (mechanised) Division

1st Highalnd Corps:
1st and 3rd highland Divisions (armoured)
2nd and 4th Highland divisions (ready, mechanised)
138th Highland divsion (light/air mobile)

In total about 250,000personel when you include the various independent Corps level assets and supply staff.

At sea i have 2 Main Battle Groups, a Marine support group and various transports and logistics groups for about 700vessels of which at least 400 are proper combat ships (inc 2 super dreads)

Air power is a bit iffy but the naval forces alone will have about 1,500 tactical aircraft (fighters and fighter bombers/strike aircraft) and the airforce while having far fewer fighters in theatre will have its entire transport, support and bomber fleets on call.

As for deploments the capitol is likely held by the 1st, 2nd and 138th highland divsions plus the Corps level assets of the Highland corps (an artillery brigade and a strategic airdefence brigade) while the rest of the forces are spread out though the rest of the Crookfur zone with the RDC headquarters in what would be kandahar.

The Hurtarians recieved the message they had waited for, but it came with an attatched comment: they had a few scores to settle with a certain group of City People first...

Results:

- 49 refugees killed
- Three tribesmen killed
- One tent set fire to, the fire spread to destroy the four other tents nearest to that one.

*cough* godmod *cough*
You aren't Khornate tribes, oh well, I'm bored, so I'll respond anyways...

Viktor O'loughlin cursed as he read the latest reports about tribal movements - until recently, he'd had good reason to believe that they would attack the other elements of the anti-CA resistance. Now he saw that that would not be the case. A unified resistance to the Undershi and other CA occupation forces could be a disaster... perhaps it would be a good idea to try to forment suspicion amoungst the various anti-CA groups? That seemed like a good idea... he thought for a moment, then began writting a suggestion for the approval of the Undershi Colonial Ministry. There would always be a chance of promotion if his ideas worked, after all...

The resistance has struck again - a raiding force of mounted barbarians has struck at a Blackhelm force along the border of their zone. These raiders appear to be well armed with Anti-Tank missiles and automatic weapons... as well as a few other things...
Blackhelm Confederacy
02-11-2006, 02:05
A half dozen men were killed, several more wounded by this raid on the mercenary forces. As soon as word of the assault came through to Commander Hydraplate, well, he just was not gunna have it. He ordered a full pursuit after the offending party, and that the pursuit be lead by the more elite GISF men.

Within minutes, four jet black AV-18 Luna VTOL gunships were in full chase of the raider, opening up with their chainguns or rockets if they got close enough. High up in the sky, and E-3 Sentry kept a watch as the barbarians fled the scene, relaying the positions down to the long column of gray coloured humvees that snaked along after the men. Around fifty humvees, supported by another ten gray Mercury's were in hot pursuit of the attackers. They would not be tolerated.

Orders were than given out that any town thought to be housing the raiders was to be burned, and its inhabitants either slain or enslaved, to be used as pack mules and slaves for likely the rest of their lives. The first little town was not to far away, and a group of five humvees and a Mercury rolled out of formation to inspect it. In all, twenty eight infantry plus the vehicle crews would be hitting the tiny town, with air support on stand by.

This reminds me of Battle of Cowpens...

As you have absolutely no clue what they are running away to...

And your VTOLs are Tarleton's Cavalry...

Taking the withdrawal of the first two lines as a full blown retreat, and sensing victory, the British advanced headlong into the awaiting final line of disciplined regulars which firmly held on the hill.

And is that MY town you happen to be advancing upon?

OOC: Sorry for my absence - school's been bad.

As the Grifencrest VTOLs roared in to attack, the tribesmen proved their lethality - and the fact that some foreign power was equipping them - once more by releasing a barrage of shoulder-launched SAMs. It appears that they wanted the CA forces to send aircraft to hunt them down... it looks like a trap...

TKT: that is of course understandable, i wish i had such a good excuse for my lack of activity, for me it really boils down to not knowing what to do next.

BC: I think your mean an E-8 JSTARS, the E-3 Sentry has bugger all surface tracking capability over land, although I'm not sure how good even JSTARS would be against horse mounted troops.

IC:

David Bannister was a very average man, in fact so average he could
at times be considered invisible. To some this sort of anonminity might have been up setting but to David it made his job a lot easier. Few would suspect that the quiet unassuming local administration employee was something other than a mere cog in the newly reconstructed local government machine and that, indeed, was the plan.
The Crookfur authorities needed a means of infiltrating the Slaaneshi cults that were slowly spreading through thier zone of control and the prospect of a vunerable link in the government chain should porve almost irrestiable to a cult seekign to regain its standing. hence why after a few months and few moves within the administration David now had abit of past, with a noted soft spot for women, oh he kept it hidden well but if you read between the lines in the events that lead to react relocation, you would find that he occasionally had trouble keeping that soft spot under control.
