Would you like to work on repealing recent Copyright Legislation in the UN? If so please submit your resume to our Delegation, or to any of our sister delegations working on true copyright reform.

Do you think Big Brother should stay out our your domestic art? Do you like to do fan subs of works not sold in your nation? Have you ever listend to a mix CD? Did you realize peopel have tried hard recently to make that illegal, UN wide?

Copyright Reform is a tricky issue. Many people don't understand how art works, or how easy it is for any artist with a reputation to make good money without government enforced artificial monopolies.

Do you like web encyclopedias? Do you know what the word wiki means? Do you believe there is a National Sovereignty argument against our recent UN Copyright Resolution?

What is the purpose of copyright?

To promote art.

Does any other country have a right to tell us how our country should promote it's art?

Good questions!

(We've been fighting the recent legislation since it was still collecting signatures). However we frequently got shouted down, or seen threads closed.

We are using this thread to ask many questions that were shouted down on exactly the forum you pointed me at :) This seems like a safer place to post without being told I'm violating unwritten rule X or Y.

Ahh, so this thread is "hiring" people IC to help with the UN repeal???

Im not sure what the mods will say but i suppose if it has an IC thing and its your government looking for someone to help write the repeal or whatever i suppose thats ok...

And if its closed down, then surely theres a good reason for it *cough* ;)

OOC: You are exactly right.

IC: The proponents of the recent copyright legislation are tired of hearing anyone fight it, within the UN halls. To build the grounswelling support necessarry to repeal the legislation we have been forced to expand our campaign.

As such we are currently touring the regions, finding places where people have discussed UNCC in small groups, and seen if any were willing to discuss the repeal. We have chronicled those efforts here

Is anyone else on a similar quest? Touring regions for some purpose or another? We seek countries with similar purposes, so as to make common cause.
