*Don't even get the thought of attacking my oil fields into your head. I have no way to defend them (OOC: 0% military budget), so it wouldn't quite be fair, now would it? Unless another nation came to my defense.

OOC: *Caresses Hydrogen economy* and the only thing I use oil for is my military, and I tend to be able to meet my needs and then some for storage... I think I have something like 2bn barrels worth of JP-5 stored and another 5bn of crude (Note: I've been on a hydrogen economy since '04, and haven't been in many conflicts) You might be able to buy out some sea fields in Illior, but its hard to do, due to protectionist measures put in place by the government...

Melforlian Oil Lord Jim Sawaba appealed to the Melforlian Government today to protest the Maraquian offer of oil today.

"This attempt by the Maraquian Oil Tycoons is a blatant attempt to secure market share by undercutting their counterparts in other countries. Today, we appeal to the government to impose a tarrif on all oil imports from Maraquian. It is simply not possible to make a profit on oil at $15 dollars a barrel.

"If trade is allowed to continue, the impact no the Northern Melforlian economy will be devestating."

In a similiar message to foreign nations, Mr. Sawaba encouraged other nations to do the same. "If this underhanded Maraquian activity is allowed, we can expect to see a significant drop in oil prices. This will result in most oil producing nations, including Melforlo, to limit supply until a more profitable time. The Maraquian capacity is not large enough to deal with this increase in demand. Here in Melforlo, we are not anxious to see such a strain put on our energy reserves."

You say that it is not profitable to sell oil at $15 a barrel, but you see we do not let the international market place dictate our prices.

We're completely able to sell oil this cheaply and make a profit in the process, just because we won't follow the international community into completely inflated prices doesn't mean it isn't profitable. We're not scared to make a bit of a loss - but we aren't - because we believe the people of the world deserve gas that is affordable.

The world is far too populated for one single company such as ours to make an impact on international oil prices. For it to make an impact nearly half of the worlds oil companies would have to unite together, that would force a price decrease.

Welcome to the wonderful world of oil production. You seem to be one of the lucky few who have not been invaded upon announcement of your oil resources. However, such luck may not last and with little no military protection you are in danger of being overrun. To counter this, perhaps you should join the AOEN, Alliance of Oil Exporting Nations. This could be the perfect alliance to join to augment your nations needs. We look forward to your reply.

Even when the Socialist Republic of Montegrande is cutting off the use of fossil energy, the armed forces and the chemical industry of the country need important supplies of oil. Because Montegrande isn´t an oil producting nation and the prize for barrel is good for the government interests, the Socialist Republic of Montegrande wishes to begin the importation of oil from Maraque. The Socialist Republic wants to buy 5,000,000 barrels per day (since the importation of oil from other nations is truly expensive.)
Also, we are happy to inform the People´s Revolutionary Army of Montegrande can send troops to defend the Maraquean Oil fields, since both nations are members of the ISSL. The Socialist Republic isn´t engaged in any war by now and the peace in our region is total, which means the armed forces of Montegrande can send troops to defend Maraquean interests.

We wish to buy 5,000,000 barrels per day, which is a high number for a nation which only needs of oil are for the armed forces and the chemical industry (that consumes minimal ammounts of oil compared to its use for combustion), but because of the dependence of the nation´s armed forces on oil the nation needs to save some oil for emergency use. Also, the Socialist Republic offers for now 50,000 soldiers to protect the oil camps. The number could increase if needed. The troops are getting ready for being sent and we only need the confirmation from the Maraquean Government to start the transportation of troops.

In response to Maraque flooding the market with cheap oil, Melforlo has ceased exportation.

"Eventually, Maraque will not be able to match the demand for oil. We expect this time to come sooner rather than later. The Maraquian oil operation is no doubt being run at huge loss, so eventually the bottom will fall out of this false economy, and at this time, Melforlo may resume exportation with selected friends."
