This rp is a thread I have wanted to do for quite a period since there have been few threads of this exact kind in NS. The point of this thread is to combine gods, magic, war, chaos, mystery, and a number of other things to create a world that is entirely unique. The world itself will consist of unique races each created specifically by the rpers of this and to that they will chose a god to be their patron who in turn will act in a way as to sent whether the people are god or evil and the avatar and units they receive. Just to note in this world the gods are called Eternals, but the term god is actually just as easily used.

In this world the gods will, obviously, be the strongest beings and thus when they create an avatar that will be possibly the strongest soldiers available to any nation worth literally about a thousand regular soldiers, but for direct actions of the gods I will have to approve of it.

In purpose I want this thread to become something where you create great cities and nations either using raw power, magic, or create a chaos nation which can be a desolate wasteland with no light and life in it. Feel, free to build great cities or summon the arcane to build armies of the undead.

Currently, I am still looking for a map to use that has a number of islands to western most parts of it. As well, I will build more on the story and setting when more people sign up. By the way in the player thing I control ALL the Eternals are it dark or light because by that I can lessen the godmodding.

Info: Etio is the strongest of the light Eternals and also is king of the Eterni who dwell with him and the other light Eternals in the lands at in the most western parts of the world. He himself wishes not to intervene in the affairs of things outside the realms of the light Eternals.

OOC: Because it is more fun to have evil chaotic gods then it is to have evil gods that seek complete order in the universe.

Ironically, there was a series of novels, beginning with one called The Last of the Renschai, that dealt with this point. The novels were loosely based around (but not on) Norse myth. The Norse gods even had a few appearances, and a character in the series was, in fact, Thor's illigitimate son.

Oden, in the novels, set up a junta of four Wizards to manage the earth. Each Wizard was known by his or her point on the compass: the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Wizard. North was the champion of Good, South of Evil, East of Chaos and West of Order. One of the points that the novel made was that the Wizards strove not to ensure total victory for any one, but to ensure balance. The victory of Good over Evil, it was argued, would lead to the mindless following of rule after ridiculous moral rule, which would strangle any spontanaiety that the world may have.

The series ended with the advent of the Ragnarok (the Norse version of the Apocalypse). It implied that Thor's son, born with the special power of thwarting prophesy, would cause our world to survive the Ragnarok, and that's why we're here today.

Still, it was interesting to read works in which Good and Order were not one and the same. (In fact, in the last novel in the series, Good AND Evil allied themselves with Chaos (which lied and convinced them that it was Order) leading up to the last days.)

Alright, I may have to look into that book then as I have never heard of it, but from your description it sounds pretty good.

Yet, back to this thread I actually did not put any of my signal goods realms power over Good or Evil for the purpose of them being made up by a number of different realms that overall are made by them. As well, the reason why I have order associated with good is because that is the traditional belief of order and chaos to be something of a darker nature and is not good.

OOC: Forgive my denseness, but I'm not quite grasping the concept. Could you please spell it out for me? Perhaps using simple one-syllable words? My mind's kinda dead right now.;)

Well, the real idea of this thread is that the Eternals, the gods of this world who I have taken from my uber FT race, have created a world of which they divided the realms between good and evil whole battle for domination of ze world. The light Eternals live in the most western part of the world hidden in their own paradise land with the Eterni and the Dark Eternals dwell wherever they see fit, but still are not directly active most of the time.

In world each rper can chose a god to follow and then create a base that strongest areas are their Eternal’s realms. In times of need the Eternal will create an avatar giving them enough power to lead their people to victory over their enemies.

Yet, the real reasons for this is to allow people to rp in a world of great magic and past rping where they can construct cities of untold beauty and grandeur of create hellish lands for their people to dwell in. As for the races I do not really care as long as they do not turn into things as powerful as dragons, but feel free to create anything from a race with the strength of a troll to a race that is Tolkein elf immortal and has great magical powers in it. Yet, to counter any race from growing to powerful such as a race of trolls from dominating all the world I may intervene with the Light Eternals waging war upon darkness and driving that race back to pre glory power levels. Or I will have the Highest return balance by using his powers to make a race, by any means which I find fun, not able to dominate the world anymore.

By the way it is summer so your brain going on vacation is a good thing.;)

So...are we RPing single char's or whole civs?

Whole civs mostly but I will happily allow for a person who has extra ordinary abilities to wonder around the world serving whatever purposes they see fit to do.

Could I make my own Eternal who would be neutral?

Feel free to, but remember that he is still subject to the will and powers of the highest Eternal who is the most powerful one of them, but the reason why I am going to allow this is because I was going to make a number of neutral Eternals in the beginning and because from what I have seen you are a good rper.

Excellent. Could my god also, instead of having an avatar, actually spend most of his time on the material realm in a physical form? Also I plan on playing the Gnomes alot more...stoic then they are in other rp's.

Viktor glanced upon Moskau, grand city of the Gnomes. Each gnome wore a red uniform, matching perfectly with the fluttering red flags. He had never been to the grand city, home of Strotiskorsy himself, and breathed deeply, inhaling the air.

He nearly choked.

Smog and steam were everywhere, a far cry from the farm he had been born in. He was almost dazed, as uniformed guards marched without emotion, seemingly staring into oblivion. He stopped one of the city's citizens and asked them a question.
"Exuse me comrade, but why is no one smiling?"
"Fool! How can we smile when the workers of the world remain oppressed! True proles smile only in revolution, work, and when the view Strotiskorsy!" The citizen walked swifly away. Viktor felt shamed. His faimily had lived in a communal farm, and only lived the joys of Strotiskorsy. True, farming was noble, but Viktor felt he had to contribute more....

He ran to the nearest barracks, and signed up for the People's Army...

Alright, I will allow it if Strotiskorsy takes mortal form in the bodies of one of his followers, can only be from you race too, and that his powers are just a little stronger then a normal avatar and since then you cannot have a avatar since your god is in mortal form.

Excellent. I was thinking, what if he had once BEEN a regular gnome, but had somehow became an Eternal?

Well, it is possible to become an Eternal, but only through the direct intervention of the Highest One of the Eternals who granted it as a gift to your gnome for performing a deed that was impossible for a member of the races to do.

How about this:

The Gnomes were once ruled by a cruel lich, the Czar as he was called, who sacrificed the Gnomes en masse. One day a gnome named Strotiskorsy took up a magical hammer and sickle and slayed the Lich in a battle that lasted 1 full year.

Truly such endurance and strength is worthy of a god?

Alright, then that seems appropriate enough test for him to be worthy of becoming an Eternal, but the only thing that he also would have to do was to swear to uphold his assigned realms.

Yet, to offer feel free to rp an Aiel coming from the furthest west, like the Istari of LOTRO, after being trained by the Eternals and coming to perform a key role in your race’s destiny just because I think it would be an interest twist in the thread.

You know what I am considering just starting a thread for the three of us because we will be the Elder peoples, but the Dark Gods are ruling over their more ancient servants and we exist in a world that has just been awoken. Yet, sign up will still be open to join in after singing up.
