Operation: Punishment (Kubra Here)

Tocrowkia
20-07-2006, 00:11
Redg Naval Base, Tocrowkia

A massive Naval force was currently being assembled in the largest port city in Tocrowkia. Their purpose was definite and clear. They were to punish the nation of Kubra for their ignorance and stupidity, insulting the Reich arbitrarily.

Unlike the last war conducted several months earlier, The Tocrowkian-Comatican war on Secretus, this operation was being conducted with Her Grace's permission and blessing.

One hundred-seventy ships in all, plus a ground force of around 600,000 personnel had been prepared in total. The fleet consisted of the most modern, lethal ships in the Tocrowkian arsenal, including a fearsome Venator-class Super Dreadnought designated as the flagship of the fleet.

Within a few weeks, everything had been prepared, and the fleet had been launched toward Kubra. The first part of the operation, assuming they had any GPS systems which any respectable military should, would be to knock out their eye in the sky. Small satellites, no larger than your average refrigerator were launched into space and loaded with high-explosive. Their objective was to Kamikaze into the Kubran satellites, thus destroying them selves and the enemy satellite. Thirty of these simple devices in all were prepared, and confidence in their success was high.

Although a large part of the Republic's forces are currently mobilized for operations in the Northern Colonies, we would be willing to deploy forces to support defensive missions in Kubra against Tocrowkian aggression, despite our once favourable position on the nation.

To the nation of Anglad:

We request information on the numbers and types of forces you will require in the defence of Kubra.

The Errikan government is completely confused. We are allied with both Tocrowkia and Kubra, and thus this situation puts us in a quandry. We will post once we figure out what the hell we think.

The Republic of Blaglug thanks Aequatio for assisting.

With the defusing of the near-nuclear war, The RoB can dedicate itself on this situation. May all nations be aware that any launch of a WMD will result in full retaliation by the RoB. Please be weary of heightened statuses of the Republic. Any action taken as threatening WMD attack will be taken as such.

RNS Nicole Lupine

Rear-Admiral Patricia Aird sat quietly in the officer's lounge with a glass of Attica Valley Red Wine as the massive battleship cruised through the water at the centre of the 3rd Fleet's Task Force. As with the other vessels of the class, it had all the reminders of its designers Doujin and Freethinkers with the addition of Aequatian traditional markings throughout. It would be a number of hours before they reached Kubran waters to defend the nation that Aequatian forces helped propel into civil war.

Above the fleet squadrons of bombers were using the fleet as protection as they made their way to Kubra. After sometime, 10 Carrier Groups from the RoB Navy could be seen on the horizon from the Aequtian Fleet. These carriers were packed with fighters and short ranged bombers. More RoB Naval fleets were en route to Kubra to help defend the territory the Republic was loosley allied with.

Official Statement From the Allied Union Grand Senate

The Allied Union herby denounces the highly imperialistic actions of the Divine Imperial Reich of Tocrowkia against the much smaller nations of Kubra, who has made the immature words of a small nation into an excuse to increase it’s already corrupt and greedy mass. We will not stand for this. As such we present our demands.

You have a simply choice.

Halt the invasion fleet approaching Kubra, or face military intervention from Velkya.

Overseeing Tocrowkia's actions against Kubra. He has decided to join them to detroy Kubra's Government. Or so everyone thinks. Little do they know, Bintic is a little oil greedy...

Bintic Defense Minister Gordon Hreeman calls in an advisor, sits him down and says 'Kubra is under siege, there oil is what Bintic is in desperate need of, should we assist Kubra and fend off the Tocrowkians, then ask for the oil as a thank you, or invade Kubra and steal the oil?'

The advisor replied 'I think we should attack Kubra, they are greedy folk they are, if we ask for even a drop of they oil they will consider us traitors, besides, we are a weak, small country, maybe if we help the Tocrowkians, they will gie us some 'Military gifts'?"

"Okay then, it is settled," John agreed "Get the transport choopers up and running."

Send in the clones.

At the moment, the Tocrowkian invasion force has been halted. Seeing the fact that they were numerically outmatched, the Reich decided to halt the Naval task force and reinforce it with an additional one hundred-twelve ships from across the Reich proper. This would of course take a day or so, but it would be worth it. Politically speaking, any warnings issued to the Reich at this point were ignored. They simply did not care anymore.

As the clone troopers selected to fight in Kubra were preparing to fight, the Tocrowkian air transports flew into our Army Base, unfortuntely, the planes had a bit of problem's, and it will take approximately all night to get it fixed, so the Bintic assualt on Kubra Will be delayed until morning.

Above Kubra, Fighter patrols were escalating as the threat of invasion grew.

Lieutenant General John Seaworth was looking at photos taken by aircraft of the naval forces threatening to invade Kubra. Puzzling on what to do, he grabbed a secure phoneline and contacted a Kubran Official.

Secret:

"What course of action do you want to take at this time?"

Kubran Territorial Waters

Scores of B-12A Vanquisher flights began to arrive as they approached the Anglad-protected nation of Kubra, behind them were the massive C-180 Carryall and C-5G Galaxy II transport aircraft which were hauling the weapons and support personnel required for the functions and missions of the strike bombers. As they approached, they broadcast their message already authorized by Aequatian Republic Air Force Command, "Anglad allies, these are the first of the Aequatian bomber forces with many more to come, we will be aiding you in the coming battles against the Reich."

The first hundred and eighty aircraft arrived to Kubran waters safely with many more Bomber Wings already en route from Republic air bases along with their accompanying fighters and support aircraft. Soon enough they would have more than enough forces in country to combat the aggressor forces.

RNS Nicole Lupine

Rear-Admiral Aird looked over her force organization charts and the intelligence reports that had been sent from Fleet Command concerning the size of the new Tocrowkian battle forces, "I don't nearly have enough forces to repel them on my own," She thought as the admiral went through readiness reports from both the ships in her task force and those that were being pulled from other fleets and being sent, "That's rather nice of the others to be lending their weight, especially the 8th, since they're normally so close with the Marines." Aird was saddened though by the prospect of additional ships being added as well, since it meant her command position would no longer be at the top, "No matter," She thought as she sat back and relaxed a little, "I still command the same vessels and crews."

Somewhere in Orbit

The seeds of Project Lancer came to fruition as one of the weapons platforms released a large number of small kill vehicles, designed to eliminate enemy satellites and anti-satellite platforms with the simple weapons of kinetic energy and their own mass. The hundred and twenty or so miniature kill vehicles, guided both by their own electronics and with guidance from a detection platform's radar and lidar systems, sped off at nearly 25km/s towards numerous Tocrowkian satellites that sat in orbit, many of them suspected reconnaissance and surveillance devices.

Meanwhile, the David weapons sat in silence, their electronic eyes open and watching the sky around Tocrowkia, their machine minds making sense of the thousands of impulses they considered thoughts as they watched. Although they themselves did not feel, they unknowingly anticipated, compelled by their programming, the moment they would perform their heroic sacrifice in the defence of the Republic which they woud follow through on without question or hesitation.

After fully examining their position in this conflict, word came from High Command that Operation: Punishment was to continue as planned. The Naval Force, now twice it's original size was to broken down into two smaller forces, one designed for pure firepower, containing the battleships, Destroyers, Cruisers and attack submarines of the fleet while the other was designated for air superiority, containing the Amphibious Assault Platforms, Carriers, frigates and Submarines designed for escort duty.

This would be the first major naval engagement in several months for the Reich, and considering how well it had done in the Comatican conflict, confidence was exceedingly high. It was expected that the Naval Force would reach Kubran waters within one day.

Meanwhile, in Orbit

The anti-satellite weapons, originally deployed to destroy Kubra's systems now formed a tight phalanx around the Tocrowkian platforms. How ever, the Reich had expected this type of thing since it originally deployed orbital forces, and it had yet another counter-measure against these forces. The satellites had a defense system of their own, one that was expected to be highly efficient at that. As the kill vehicles approached, the satellites let lose their secret weapon: Tactical High Energy Lasers, designed by the Reich to be AA and ABM weapons, which were also deployed on the Reich's navy were now attempting to tear their way through the kill vehicles.

With the kill vehicles halted by the tactical lasers of the Tocrowkian platforms the generals at the Aequatian Republic Space Command Centre nervously monitored the situation on the display terminals as they prepared their contingency to better the parry by the Tocrowkians. Numerous platforms silently awoke from their slumber and engaged their fusion reactors to power their weapon systems. The Eagle II neutral particle beam weapons ran self-diagnostic tests as they linked to the detection network that was in place within orbit as they became aware of their prey, the Tocrowkian platforms, and as the reactors came online they began subjecting the deuterium gas inside with hundreds of millions of volts as it finalized its aim to cause damage to the most number of targets with a single shot by lining them up in a fashion not unlike balls on a pool table.

Lasers? My god, are we still in MT? Because um....I'm MT. Oh dear, this could be a problem.

((OOC: Actually, lasers MT. The Tactical High Energy Laser has been successfully tested by the US and Israel and has shown it self to be an effective way of shooting down high velocity projectiles...))

The lasers continued their assault on the kill vehicles while SPACECOM activated several of their sleeping OWP's to reinforce the systems currently engaged in combat, platforms not truly designed for combat but merely held a counter-measure.

The Wyvern-class OWP's clicked on line, quickly ran a self-diagnostic and entered the fray. While it had a few other weapons systems, the man weapon of the Wyvern were the rail guns they held. With the guide of a laser-painting system, each OWP's AI targeted enemy platforms and fired a high-speed tungsten shell, the objective obvious.

The kill vehicles ceased their assault as warnings were broadcast throughout the automated army in orbit. The Eagle II platforms, being one of the more precious weapon systems and vulnerable when initially deployed, were well protected by six Eagle I, formerly Eagleeye, high-energy laser devices placed in a protective formation around each of the platforms. The lasers tracked the incoming Tocrowkian tungsten ammunition and fired with a short enough burst of energy to either eliminate them entirely or modify their trajectory against the Eagle II platforms. Although a strong net, it was not enough to protect all as one of the Ealge II weapon systems was hit by one of the tungsten rounds and fell from orbit to be vaporized as it re-entered the top layer of the atmosphere. As the lasers repeated fired at the incoming rounds, the particle beam weapons were finally fully charged and began hurling millions upon millions of sub-atomic particles at near-light speeds against the Tocrowkian satellite stations which would superheat their materials at an almost instintanious rate from within.

~Orbit~

Unfortunately, very little intelligence existed on Aequatio OWP and the Tocrowkian stations were unprepared. The Particle cannon tore through the defense of the original target GPS Platform, and vaporized it along with several Anti-satellite weapons.

The Wyvern's noted the ineffectiveness of their initial assault, and so the AI powered down the Rail gun systems, and switched to their secondary, Tactical High Energy Laser systems. They began to circle the enemy platforms at speed, taking pot shots at them with their lasers, hoping to confuse and overwhelm them.

The horizon off the coast of Kubra was red and orange as the sun dawned, revealing a massive amount of ships headed toward the Kubran coast. It was admittedly a very intimidating sight, the sheer number and size of the ships approaching would have frightened your average civilian. Not so much so your experienced admiral, but still an impressive sight.

The sun glittered of the titanium composite armor of the ships, especially of the massive, sleek Venator-class Super Dreadnought as it approached. Admiral Alicia Croix, a frosty 28 year old commander had been designated commander of the force. While she had seen action during previous conflicts, such as the Malgerian Conflict and the Comatican-Tocrowkian war, this was her first war in such a position, she was eager to prove her self, but each decision she made would be one made with great care and though.

She stood, arms folded behind her on the bridge of Ghost, the designated name of the Super Dreadnought staring directly ahead at the opposing naval forces while random facts and figures were being shouted her way by the crew. The Naval force continued to advance, and once they were in firing range, Admiral Croix ordered a massive, pre-emptive salvo to be fired. All at once, the Super Dreadnought and her escort of Battleships, Destroyers and Cruisers unleashed a barrage of tungsten shells from their rail gun systems, small high speed missiles from the Cruisers, and a smaller, yet more lethal barrage of torpedo's, whom warheads were actually made up of several smaller explosives that would break away from the main projectile mid-way through their trajectory to confuse the enemy. The carrier group, how ever, was no where to be seen at the moment.

The quicker Wyverns proved to be a most difficult opponent as they closed positions with the Eagle I and Eagle II platforms, many of the Aequatian laser systems fell victim to the assault along with a second Eagle II platform, who's demise mimicked that of the first as it fell towards Earth. A third Eagle II platform fell victim to the Wyverns, but it did not kneel down like the first two, its fusion reactor, having been ruptured, went critical and exploded violently, the massive force swallowed any nearby Eagle I and Wyvern devices. It was at this moment though that the Lancer weapons took advantage of the Wyvern's attention towards the Eagle satellites and fired their own mass drivers armed with Tungsten rods against the pre-occupied Wyvern platforms.

Task Force Kubra 01 had just arrived within Kubran waters when they received word that the Tocrowkians had just done the same and had commenced a bombardment of the allied ships already positioned off the coast. Admiral Aird had a difficult decision to make, quickly move to support the allied fleets with her own task force or wait until the full might of the Aequatian Republic's Navy had arrived to engage the enemy fleet. She knew that her own forces were already terribly outnumbered, even when paired with allies, however, she knew that they could not leave the others to die on the vine. She stood up from her seat in the combat information center and the tone in her voice commanded respect as she turned to her executive officer, "I want full speed ahead to stand off missile range with the Tocrowkian fleet, prepare the carrier air wings as well, have them preped for anti-surface warfare," She ordered as the CIC became busy as movements and courses were plotted, "I want us to hit them with everything we can in the first blow."

The mass of vessels moved slowly, but remained in tight formation as they made their way towards the enemy ships. The task force's six carriers each launched twenty F-1N Averna strike fighters along with ten F-7A Predator air superiority fighters and twenty EF-1B Erebus electronic warfare aircraft to provide jamming capabilities against enemy radar systems. In addition to the combat aircraft, twelve E-2D Hawkeye II early airborne warning aircraft were put in the air to monitor the skies for enemy fighters that would counter attack the Aequatian fighters. The EF-1B aircraft led the way with full power to their sweep jamming which filled a broad spectrum of frequencies with nothing but a massive contact while the F-1N fighters followed closely behind with the F-7A fighters on the flanks.

Aequatian Republic Air Force RQ-4 Global Hawk aircraft glided slowly aloft along the coastline monitoring the ocean for several hundred kilometres out on the water, acting as an early airborne warning platform for the B-12A Vanquisher bombers that sat ready to scramble inland on the temporary airbases provided by Anglad. Once the enemy vessels had come within range, the positions were transmitted to the command units stationed at the airbase and the B-12A bombers were prepared for launch. A total of three wings of sixty aircraft each were fueled and armed for the call when it came, they were launched into the air and made their assembly points far inland before making their way towards the coast to engage the enemy fleet that had amassed there. As they got close, the aircraft moved closer to sea level to hide their signatures and provide a better chance for when they launched their weapons.

It is a dark day indeed when blustering national leaders are brought to war by the petty insults of typical diplomatic banter. Tocrowkia has proven itself a nation of simple thugs with the collective mind set and intellect of a daycare playground succumbing to bawling tears at the slightest taunt. As such the AOEN would like to propose a deal to Kubra. We are prepared to defend your nation against these barbarians and send a substantial military task force to your aid. In return all we ask is that you join the AOEN, and receive all benefits thereof, and donate 25% of your oil market to the AOEN for a period of time. We understand that you may be reluctant, but we can assure you that it is in your best interest to accept our aid as here is a list of the military support you would receive.

As support for Kubra grew, President Johnny Smooth heeved a sigh of relief. He knew that fighting this war alone would prove costly.

One could feel the suspense as the wait for the first shots grew longer. High above Kubra, however, the skies were not quiet. Teamed with Aequatian, Blaglugian, and Kubran Aircraft poised to strike at any second. They were swarming like angry wasps defending their nest from outsiders. But where were these outsiders?

On the ground, BAF Airbases were stocked with A-20 Seahawk III aircraft. Designed soley for countering Naval Operations, these aircraft were a force to be reckoned with. Especially when backed by D-4A Resistance aircraft, designed entirely for taking out missles.

Near the shore, patrol boats glided acrossed the water, waiting to spot anything on the horizon. Behind them, on the dunes of the beaches, Artillery could be seen, poised to strike at any moment. All may have been quiet, but it was a watchful silence; the calm before the storm.

Further out at sea, Carrier Groups and Battle Groups were on stand-by, as well as ariving behind the quarantine line daily. At the quarantine line, QL for short, patrols were monitoring the seas, making sure no vessel could slip through without proper clearance. Underneath the waves also lurked the deadly watch.

But when would the storm come? That was the question on everyone's minds.

The Reich noted the large Naval force approaching them from the flank. Admiral Croix ordered the current bombardment to continue, but for the current ship-phalanx formation to be re-arranged in order to engage the approaching Aequatian forces.

Additionally, several miles away from the battlefield four squadrons of Raven XG3T Air Superiority Fighters, along with a number of five squadrons of the new UCAV Prowler-90 Multi role fighters, designed to be Air Superiority fighters as well as electronic warfare craft. The UCAVs lacked the hindrance of a human pilot, and thus were much faster and more maneuverable than their manned Raven brethren.

Several of the distracted Wyverns fell victim to the tungsten ammunition, how ever others managed to recognize the threat in time, either maneuvering out of the way or shooting the shells down or away with their laser weaponry. The Wyverns scattered in a lose formation to provide a scattered target for the enemy platforms as they once again moved to engage the enemy with their lasers.

The Eagle I weapons, now somewhat freed by the actions of the Lancer platforms were now able to focus their attentions on the Wyverns which seemed to be reorganizing themselves for a second assault. With their synthetic minds, they decided in an instant as to what actions to follow and immediately engaged the Wyverns with their lasers while the larger Eagle II platforms themselves targetted the Tocrowkian satellites and fired short bursts from their own particle beams at individual targets.

Rear-Admiral Aird confidently watched her task force's movements on the terminals within the CIC as the ships set up their battleline to face the Tocrowkian fleet. The first line consisted of a picket of the force's Erschoff missile destroyers equipped with surface-to-air missiles to counter attacks made against the capital ships of the fleet while they were supported by the detection and direction systems of the larger Griffon missile cruisers which would also be lending their vertical-launch systems to the fleet's defence. The capital ships lay behind them, including the Lupine herself, and would provide a large amount of firepower against the enemy ships.

In the air, the E-2D Hawkeye II aircraft tracked the movements of the Tocrowkian aircraft and air controllers aboard the carriers directed their aircraft towards them. The F-7A Predator fighters took the lead as they jetted forward and armed their AIM-154B long-range missiles, each of the sixty fighters launched four of the AIM-154B weapons for a total of two hundred and forty missiles against the Raven XG3T fighters and Prowler-90 UCAVs then maneuvered on an intercept course with the enemy to close range to engage with their AIM-120C missiles. The F-1N and EF-1B aircraft, although equipped with a few short-range air-to-air weapons, were not suited for air-superiority and continued on their course towards the Tocrowkian fleet. Aboard the carriers, another sixty F-7A fighters were prepared for launch to the combat zone, equipped for air superiority.

Kubran Territorial Waters

As the hundred and eighty B-12A Vanquisher bombers each neared the launch distance for their AGM-200 Typhoon missiles as they momentarily moved to a higher altitude as they came within four hundred and fifty kilometres from the lead elements of the enemy fleet. It was then that their bomb bays opened and each bomber released a single drone that dropped out and hung in the air before its engine engaged and sent it screaming towards the enemy fleet, projecting a radar signature similar in size to that of a B-12A Bomber and travelling at the same speed the aircraft would when on an attack run. The Vanquishers then dropped their altitudes again closer to the water and waited until they reached their launch range proper to release their weapons.

Major-General Kate Gauthier watched as her unit, the Aequatian 3rd Infantry Division, was busy all along the tarmac as they loaded vehicles and personnel into waiting transports. The large C-5 and C-180 aircraft sat on the ground with their cargo compartments open like gaping mouths, swallowing the soldiers as they marched inside while others consumed vehicles such as M1 Panther main battle tanks, M4 Spartan infantry vehicles among others, but the most unusual was the M133 Turtle, which looked likw nothing more than the M1 tank with an armoured superstructure. But it was what lay underneath the superstructure that made it unique, a large magnetron which filled the area in front of the vehicle with radiation that not only destroyed electronic equipment but could also kill soldiers with a long enough exposure time. All were loaded onto aircraft bound for Kubra as the general herself also boarded a business-class private jet that would take her and her command staff to the nation as well.

Carrier Fleet off of Southern Kubra

"Officer on deck!", shouted a naval lieutenant, decked in black officer garb, quickly entering the room and standing at attention. The large grizzled man whom followed was the stereotypical eptime of a military man. Scars lined his aged face, one running through his white, blinded eye, another through both lips. His black leather trench coat glistened with rain drops under the red light of the command deck, as the man known as 'The Butcher of Mexico' surveyed the eagerly awaiting officer core. Kalrick Von Dicen, the Commander of the Coalitionist-Heliconian Attack force of the AOEN advance maintained the silence for several seconds before snapping into a fury of speech. "I want SDCI Reports in two minutes! Level 5 Operation! I want landing readiness statistics in three! Decimators are to unload first... double the Halcon patrols, upgrade the LADAR Detection to Aim-All... shoot on site... I want nothing... NOTHING in my airspace. Put the destroyers on rotational support. Infantry and land carriers to the center! Air Carriers to the front, break the Tenerifes off into perimeter defense! Hurry people! We are at war! This is no feckin' game! MOVE!", roared the Old German Commander, shouting as men scurried to and fro to appease his every command. SDCI Anti-Aircraft/Missile Turrets swiveled around, searching eagerly for enemy activity. Under the surface, the Macabee made submarines adjusted their positions to counter any potential threat... the fleet as a whole was tossed into a level of preparation seen in few modern armies.

The fleet was much larger than it's paper value, one of only a few aircraft carriers and subs... there were some 21 Arliegh-Burke Class Destroyers, 7 Detection-Oriented Survailance Ships, 4 Mobile-Repair Ships, and near fourty large transport barges. The fleet docked off of the Southern Coast of Kubra, and send forth wave after wave of smaller transport vessels. Infantry crowded the beaches, as the shores were secured and contact made with the local Kubran Authorities. By the time the entire force had docked, more than had been expected had arrived. 725,000 Infantry, 450 ID-57 Decimator MBT's, 120 Kraken I MBT's, 235 G-24 Strikers, 170 C-37 Mountain Breakers and 65 C-25 Big Guns had made themselves known on the mainland of Kubra, and they immidiately began their advance.

The Army began its slow advancement deeper into the country, heading first for the city of Daquing, along the way handing out outdated arms such as AK-47's and M4's to the local population, arming them in the case they were needed against any foriegn attacked. Some 17,000 in total were dispensed, along with masses of ammunition.

Meanwhile, the Sub-Surface AOEN-Coalitionist Force departed for the naval region reported to have encountered heavy fighting between friendly and enemy forces. The 13 Cadiz Class SSBN's and 9 Tenerife's began their trek to the north...

As the Tocrowkian fleet approached the enemy Republic force, Admiral Croix ordered another initial salvo of shells and torpedo's to fired. Once again, hundreds of shells propelled by the magnetic guns on the Tocrowkian vessels sped toward the Republic navy, as did dozens of torpedo's. A missile launch, at this point, would have been a wasted gesture with such a solid defense.

Several Ravens and UCAVs were destroyed in the initial wave of the missiles, but many managed to survive by skillfully maneuvering out of the way, or shooting them down with their smaller versions of the tactical high energy lasers. The UCAVs took up the initial counter-attack, blazing ahead at near Mach-7 speed, preparing their own medium range missiles. simultaneously, they unleashed them, over sixty of them in all, which were soon reinforced by medium range missiles from the Ravens, bringing up the missile attack up to over one hundred.

General Abraham slowly entered the observation post of the SDN Absolute. The great mammoth laughed at the sea as it crushed it waves below its massive bow. He slowly walked up to the massive super reinforced plate glass windows and surveyed the site that stretched from horizon to horizon. Great machines of war pushed across the sea, churning the placid ocean into a frothy bubbling plain. Jets and bombers soared overhead, and every so often a sonic boom could be felt resonating through ones bones.

The General was a strong man, a man worthy of his ancient and powerful name. He had nerves of steel and had climbed the ranks himself, all the way from private. He bore the scars of a hard fought life, and despite his best efforts walked with a slight limp from when he had nearly lost his leg to a rogue RPG. Despite his weather worn appearance he was a personable man and respected the common footslogger. It was not the generals but the grunts that won the wars. He simply pointed them in the right direction.

His aide’s com crackled, a short gruff voice spat out a few quick phrases. The aide approached the General and tapped him on the shoulder. The weathered man turned with a grim look of resolve on his face, “Yes?”

“Sir, we are closing on Kubra, we should be there within a day and a half.”

The General’s eyes narrowed and he returned his gaze to the horizon. It was beautiful and gleaming. Like a siren it pulled the fleet onward to war. Abraham turned back to his aide, “Very good, inform the fleet to move in assault formation.” He turned for one last glimpse of the blue sky and sighed, “Alright I think its time to get to business, lets get to the command room.”

With that the hardy man turned and worked his ways into the belly of the behemoth.

Far from the Absolute a large troop transport bobbed in the waves at the center of the defensive formation. Despite its rather mundane role, it too was heavily armed versus air and submarine attack. On board thousands of CDF soldiers sat in bunks, admired the view, and enjoyed a comradery they knew was soon to disappear in the fires of battle. Deep within the winding corridors Bravo Squad sat around a short table playing cards.

Private Saunders threw down a full house, “Read em an weep boys!” The rest of the squad cried out in exclamation, and an assortment of curses could be heard as they all promptly handed over their cigarettes.

“Fuck cards, I’m broke,” sighed Private De’Gray.

Sqaud leader, Corporal Titus laughed, “De’Gray you have the worst poker face in the whole goddamned world, hell I was about to ban you from cards.”

Private Pike looked at Titus, “And you are one to talk...” Before he could finish the ship rocked heavily as it began to move towards the very center and most protected part of the massive fleet. A frown came over his face, they all knew what this meant, “Well looks like we wont be playing cards any time soon.”

Titus eyed his squad, “Look we all know war and battles suck, but we are here to kick some fucking ass. I can not think of finer bunch of men to go into hells mouth with, and I know God has blessed each one of us with the power to change the world. We are his will, we are the chosen nation... HOA!”

“HOA!!” the cabin roared.

Back on the absolute the order has been given to shift into assault formation. The weakest and most vulnerable ships were shifted to the center of the formation. The SDN moved to the apex of the inner spearhead flanked by the battleships. All around on the perimeter of the massive fleet were the support cruisers, frigates, and destroyers. Beyond that were the submarine pickets. All around the buzz of air superiority fighter could be heard ensuring the safety of the skies above the fleet.

From the retreating horizon came a vast black formation, five hundred bombers outfitted with ultra long ranged anti shipping missiles. Before overtaking the friendly fleet they would open fire, releasing uncountable missiles. That was moments off. The battle was about to begind.

The Eagle I satellites chose not to persue the fleeing Wyverns as a few of the lead devies were put out of commission by the enemy lasers and either drifted lifelessly in orbit or fell towards the Earth. The surviving Eagle Is moved back to their defensive positions around the Eagle II platforms as they continued to fire at the Tocrowkian satellites from afar, taking somewhat short periods to cool before firing again.

Great cheers went up from the Aequatian Republic Space Command as the personnel watched the enemy systems retreat, although the cheering was replaced with a sombre mood as the Space Chief of Staff, General Brandon Harding, entered the command chambers and spoke with a number of the officers who had been monitoring the entire battle in orbit. From behind the thick glass of the control chambers, General Harding began giving orders before a young lieutenant-colonel entered with a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist and set it down in front of the commander. Within it, the general produced a key with a strange set of teeth and inserted it into the control console and turned while the lieutenant-colonel lifted a plexiglass cover and pressed the button located underneath it.

The Tocrowkian missiles streaked in towards the F-7A aircraft and a third were wiped out as the pilots began to take evasive maneuvers, a dozen or so of those aircraft destroyed by the missiles produced parachutes as they fell towards the water below and they knew it would be a number of hours before the HH-20 Jaycat helicopters would arrive to fish them from the sea. The other aircraft managed to avoid destruction using a number of methods including their passive countermeasures like the retroreflective paint to disrupt weapons guided by LIDAR while the traditional flares and clouds of chaff helped against RADAR and Infrared guidance systems. Determining that the UCAVs were the more serious threat, the forty Predator fighters each launched half of their arsenal of AIM-120C passive radar guidance backed up with LIDAR and Infrared suites, another lesson learned from the Red Tide campaigns. The hundred and sixty missiles sped off into the distance as they moved to intercept the incoming Prowler-90 UCAVs before the fighters closed their range to fire their other hundred and sixty AIM-120Cs towards the Ravens. All of the aircraft had launched the last of their missle arsenals except for the pair of short-range missiles each kept for defensive purposes, like all Aequatian aircraft, and they hit their afterburners as they closed range with the enemy aircraft.

OOC: Any acknowledgement of the advancing "bombers" against your fleet Tocrowkia? As they would have surely shown up on your radar.

OOC: If you were refering to my bombers, they never came close to his fleet. They approached mine and then fired cruise missiles.

IC: Private De’Gray was cleaning his rifle one last time before the coming battle. He worked in silence, as did all his squad mates. They knew the cost of war could be there very lives. Suddenly the air was filled with a deafening roar, and what seemed like the distant fire of large artillery. Panicked the squad ran topside.

The sky was filled with friendly bombers, each one releasing a salvo of long range cruise missiles that screamed across the skies leaving long white trails in their collective wakes. What they had mistaken for artillery fire was actually the sonic booms of thousands of missiles racing towards the blue horizon.

“God damn, ya ever seen sumthin like that?” murmured Private White. Each man slowly shook their heads in awe at the ever increasing waves of missiles rocketing from the bombers.

De’Grey looked at his squad mates, “Why do you think they chose to fire them over us?”

Coporal Titus responded, “It’s a show of power, you know sort of like fireworks.” He paused for a moment, “I think they are trying to raise out moral.”

“Well damn... they succeeded.”

After a minute of continuous fire the bombers broke off and began to push back towards the Crucible mainland. The fleet passed under no less then two thousand five hundred missile plumes. Each of the five hundred bombers had launched five anti shipping cruise missiles towards the anti air assets of the Tocrowkia fleet. Analysts believed that this would be enough to cripple the air defenses. Only time would tell if their prediction was correct.

The outer support frigates and destroyers now had to be wary. If you could hit your target with missiles, so they could you. At least at this range the warheads were likely to be small.

On the observation post of the Absolute General Abraham was once again taking in the sight. He stared intensely at the horizon, the last of the cruise missiles disappearing to commit their sins. He raised his comm to his mouth, “Prepare the cruisers to fire.”

He sat in silence for a minute until the roar of missile engines began once again. The sleek white tools of death slid into the sky, leaving behind the distinct white trail like their brethren. Each of the forty cruisers fired a total of twenty targeting the aircraft carriers of the Tocrowkia fleet. Eight hundred gifts from God for those who chose to commit sin.

Abraham looked down at his pristine sleek black boots. Once again taking the comm system to his mouth he murmured just two words, “Battleships... now.”

Like before missiles began to emerge, this time from the floating capital ships. Each battleship let loose a total of forty missiles, four hundred in total. These were more sinister in nature as they targeted the troop transports of the enemy fleet.

Abraham smiled, “Our turn...”

With that the Absolute began to shake slightly as mere meters from Abraham himself missiles began to burst from their launchers. Unlike the other missiles which sported white plumes, these were black and carried far heavier warheads. Two hundred sick twisted arms extended from the Absolute and raced towards the horizon.

“His will be done.”

With that numerous small and large supply ships made there way towards the ships that had fired and began to resupply them.

OOC: All in all 2.5k missiles headed towards your AA
800 targetting your aircraft carriers
400 targetting troop transports
200 (heavy, but slower) targetting wounded ships

Due to recent escaltion of the NE conflict to Near Nuclear War, and the continued escaltaion of the war, the Republic has unfortunatly decided it needs to withdraw troops immediatly from this conflict for the time being. Some forces will remain but will limitly be involved in the conflict. Once the NE war is settled, troops will be re-dedicated to Kubra. The Republic apologizes to its allies for this abrupt but necessary decision.

Off the Kubran Coast

The first order of business was the deflection of the massive enemy missile attack. Seeing as they were targeted at the Tocrowkian anti-aircraft stations, this would be an easy task. The Tocrowkian Military, in particular the Navy, was a technologically advanced for and had been rapidly upgrading their forces technology wise.

The ships began to unleash their Tactical Laser defenses, aiming for the warheads on each missile. The sky became filled with the laser defenses, as well as a nice little fireworks show as the missiles were blasted out of the sky. Several of the smaller ships were forced to power down miscellaneous systems, such as their SONAR systems as every available ship was ordered to commit to the fleets defense.

The Tactical High Energy Lasers deployed on the Tocrowkian vessels had proved effective at shooting down such small projectiles as a Katyusha rocket and mortar shells, so something as large as a cruise missile proved little problem.

Unfortunately, some of the enemy missiles penetrated the defense. In the end, two frigates were sunk and one heavily damaged. How ever, it was an undeniable victory on behalf of the Tocrowkians. With the missile attack deterred, the fleet turned their eyes back on Aequatio.

The Prowler UCAVs, being an expensive asset were equipped with a number of countermeasures, such as chaff grenades and flares, and they utilized this asset to it's fullest extend. Still, tens of Prowlers and Ravens fell. Over twenty in all. The UCAVs decided to take up the offense, speeding toward the enemy aircraft while attempting to get a lock on them, using their 20mm Vulcan's as an offense tool.

The Ravens, meanwhile, concentrated their efforts on the escaped Aequation pilots. As they parachuted to the waters below, they ruthlessly attacked them with their own 20mm Vulcans in order to maximize enemy casualties.

An entire squadron of Raven fighters remained in the air over their fleet as the B-12A bombers approached. Picking up several RADAR signatures, they departed to investigate. As soon as they reached visual range of the bombers, they ignored the drones and instead each unleashed their two long-range missiles, hoping to down the bombers before they reached the Tocrowkian fleet.

The nervous aide appeared on one of the many screens in the briefing room. General Abraham looked up, “Yes, what’s the news on the missile attack?”

“Sir... well it didn’t go very well.”

The general nodded, “Well that’s to be expected, things never go as well in war as they do on paper, do we know what happened.”

“Sir, well it seems almost 99% of the missiles were destroyed before making contact with enemy fleet assets.”

Abraham sighed and looked down at the polished oak briefing table, “Do we know why?”

“Sir, we are not 100% sure but early recon reports and data from the missiles suggest a point laser defense system.”

The general looked up at the screen, “Thank you, return to your duties, God be with you.”

“Yes sir!”

The general looked up at his top officers, “Alright boys lets figure out how to solve this problem.”

“Sir I suggest for the moment we halt the fleet and pull back a bit.”

The general nodded in approval of the plan. He wanted the enemy fleet weekend when the real damage dealers started coming into play. The men broke into hurried discussion of how to overcome this nearly invincible military system. There were cries of frustration as every plan they came up with seemed to be defeated in simulation. After a while one of the most junior officers spoke up, “Well if they really are using lasers... well why don’t we have the missiles travel in “lines” up until the last moment.”

A more senior officer spoke, “And what good would that do?” The General smiled at this, he knew exactly what this would do.

“Well each missile would be obscured in the incredibly thick smoke of the one before it. I don’t care how powerful these lasers are, they wont be able to penetrate that smoke to any effective degree.”

“Couldn’t they just leave the lasers centered at the first missile of each line and leave it there, each missile flying into the death trap.”

The junior officer thought at this, “Whenever a lead missile is destroyed have the new lead change approach angle enough to escape that threat.” The officers began to believe that this could work.

“Beyond that lets fire our sea skimming missiles, have them fly below radar and the such. I mean not only does to negate pretty much any form of early detection, save visual, but it also limits the number of anti missile systems that the missiles must face. I mean if the missiles are hidden behind the outermost ships, inner ships can not assist in the anti missiles systems.”

“Finally at the last second have the missiles break off towards there targets which should only have a few seconds to react.”

“Alright so let me get this straight, out missiles are going to fly in columns so the exhaust from the lead missile shields the follow missiles from the lasers. If the lead missile is destroyed, the followers will shift approach angle to avoid the laser that had destroyed the lead. They are going to come in at just a few meters above sea level to avoid radar. Beyond coming in at low level they are going to approach from angles which shield them from the anti missile systems of the inner ships by being out of sight behind the outer ships. Finally with only a few seconds to impact they will break off to their own selective paths leaving only split seconds to react.”

“Yes!” A laugh emanate throughout the cabin. The message was sent to the Crucible mainland to load up the SSCM-MK4 missiles on to the bombers and give them some surprisingly odd flight paths and approach terms. All throughout the fleet men scrambled to input the new attack criteria to the missile systems. Within half an hour the process was complete and allied bombers were approaching maximum range for their missiles, there would be no overhead air show this time.

With only seconds before the attack begun General Abraham uttered a few low words, “Please God... let this work.” Within moments the fleet was engulfed once more in the sound of thousands of missiles rocketing from still position. This time, however, each ship was to launch two full salvo’s rather than one.

From the cruisers came one thousand six hundred missiles. From the battleships eight hundred, and four hundred from the Absolute. Within minutes the far off bombers would also release their cargo, it would take far longer to reach the target, but they would be contributing two thousand five hundred missiles as before.

The missiles soon broke into their columns, concealing nearly ninety eight percent of the missiles from direct laser fire.

“There can be no victory for those who defy God.”

Off the Kubran Coast

A number of the F-7A aircraft were knocked from the air by the 20mm rounds, with many of them having their pilots bail out and drift towards the water. The remaining aircraft armed their AIM-132F missiles and fired them against the UCAVs before engaging them with their own 27mm vulcan cannons, aiming for the engines for one-shot kills. The F-1N Averna fighters launched their own arsenals of AGM-200 weapons against the Tocrowkian fleet, totalling four hundred and eighty missiles streaking towards the massing of enemy vessels before turning around and engaging the Raven fighters with their own AIM-132F missiles, totalling two hundred and forty weapons tracking the enemy fighters, before engaging them with their own 27mm cannons.

Alarms rang out throughout the cockpits of the bombers as the Tocrowkian missiles streaked in while the active defence measures activated themselves by deploying large clouds of chaff and scores of flares as the aircraft, whose wings had been swept back, took maneuvers to avoid the incoming missiles. Although a number were hit and slammed into the water with few surviving crew. The aircraft approached their launch range and fired their missiles, a total of nine hundred and sixty weapons, before turning hard to return to their airbase on the mainland, blowing clouds of chaff and flares behind them.

Off the carrier decks screamed an additional sixty F-7A Predator fighters fitted for air superiority as they set their course for the ensuing air battle with their comrades. They burned with rage after being told of the reports that the Tocrowkians had strafed their fellow pilots as they bailed out of their downed aircraft.

The Eagle I and Eagle II weapons maneuvered into a defensive perimeter around a larger platform that slowly girded into a position over the combat zone in Kubra. It resembled nothing more than a final launch stage of a delivery rocket until the outer casing blew out and revealed the massive Eagle III orbital strike neutral particle beam cannon. Its five twin-linked heavy fusion reactors hummed to life as it began to run its self-diagnostics and transmitted to the ground personnel at Aequatian Republic Space Command control centre.

It was unfortunate for Aequatio that the Wyvern platforms had only retreated to regain their strength as well as reinforcements. Over two dozen Wyvern's, accompanied by at least a hundred "dumb" killer vehicles packed with high-explosives silently approached, along with two Icarus-class electronic warfare platforms.

The Icarus were the largest OWP deployed by the Reich, nearly 20 meters high and 25 meters across, how ever they were the most highly defended with a number of laser and magnetic gun systems. The Icarus weapons fired their main weapon, a microwave beam designed to "fry" electronic systems toward the Eagle II platforms while the killer vehicles and the Wyvern's rushed forward, the Wyvern's providing covering fire with their laser systems as they did so.

Off the Kubran Coast...

The initial wave of enemy missiles directed toward the fleet caught the Tocrowkian AA defense off guard initially, and more than half managed to break through without consequence. As a result, several ships, mostly Cruisers and Destroyers, were moderately damaged, how ever one was severely so as the missile had hit it's commutations and RADAR relay, effectively crippling it, along with another whom's bridge had been taken out as a result of the attack. How ever, the Venator-Super Dreadnought, along with the AA Cruisers managed to intercept the rest with their defense.

Ten or twelve UCAVs were downed by the missiles as they closed the gap to engage the F-7A's close range. Still spitting thousands of 20mm bullets as they raced toward their rivals, the UCAV's began to show their heightened mobility, performing defense maneuvers near-impossible for a manned vehicle. Still, three more UCAVs were sawed into pieces by the enemy fire. The UCAVs fired several small shells into the air, which exploded in a non-lethal fashion, releasing chaff into the air to counter the enemies RADAR systems.

Meanwhile, another Crucible missile attack had been visually detected by the aids aboard the Venator-class Super Dreadnought. Orders were sent to the outlaying frigates to counter this attack by any means possible. The missiles, being to low for AA fire, were subject to another defensive system within the Tocrowkian Navy. The tungsten dart. It was a small, 5 meter dart object with collapsible steel fins that unfolded during flight. Launched from a gauss gun, they were accelerated to extremely high speeds and could piece multiple levels of concrete and titanium if given enough time to accelerate. Dozens of these weapons were fired from frigates and cruisers, the Tocrowkians hoping the darts would pierce through multiple cruise missiles before degrading, and being further reinforce by another dart.

The Eagle I switched to a weaker, broader beam with their lasers as they began to engage large numbers of the dumb kill vehicles per unit as the surviving Eagle II platforms, with many failing to respond due to the damage inflicted by the microwave beams, fired their neutral particle beam cannons against the Icarus platforms attempting to at least disable their primary weapon and power systems. The Lancer platforms began to fire their tungsten rods at the Wyvern satellites as well as directing their own kinetic-energy kill vehicles against the enemy devices.

Hawker Air Force Base, Arrio, Aequatius Prime

Alarm klaxons rang out throughout the base as Major Marie "Rogue" King ran alongside her fellow pilots to the Wolf humvees that carried them from the briefing chambers to their waiting F-1C Banshee fighters on the tarmac. Within minutes each of the pilots were aboard their aircraft and, as pairs, were taking off from the runway and accelerating into the distance and gaining altitude. They were armed with a number of AIM-154F Improved Comet missiles and climbed to a higher altitude with their afterburners engaged.

----------

Off the Kubran Coast

The pilots of the F-7A fighters found it hard to keep the fight against the enemy UCAVs as their numbers dwindled to the enemy fire, with only a dozen aircraft remaining, they decided to bug out and make for the incoming reinforcement of the fresh sixty Predators that had been shot off the decks of the Eclipse fleet carriers. The F-1N fighters, their attack on the Tocrowkian fleet finished and returning to the carriers, turned their attentions towards the enemy Raven fighters that had been strafing the downed pilots by engaging them with their vulcan cannons as they spit short bursts of 27mm rounds.

The B-12A Vanquishers that had escaped the attacks by the Tocrowkian Ravens landed and almost immediately began to rearm with missiles as they re-organized their numbers and prepared to deploy once again against the enemy fleet. Along the perimeter of the base sat the MIM-154D Comet batteries and their combined radar/lidar suites that watched the sky for enemy aircraft that came within a hundred and fifty kilometres of the base.

At the other areas of the base, the Aequatian 3rd Infantry Division had begun to unload its vehicles and were deploying to areas around the base. The combat engineers began constructing fortifications such as trenches and defensive bermes while infantry soldiers unrolled coils of concertina razor wire and manned machinegun and anti-tank posts.

Many of the kill vehicles were destroyed as they rushed forward, but this did not halt their charge. They still continued forward, under covering fire by the Wyvern platforms, which also had to multi-task by defending them selves against the Eagle I's and the Lancer platforms, targeting the Eagle I's them selves, and the tungsten shells thrown at them by the Lancers. Four Wyvern's in all were destroyed within the first five minutes, how ever this would not deter them, as they kept pressing their attack.

Aboard the Super Dreadnought Decimator, Admiral Croix was approached by a younger officer. She kept her arms folded behind her back as usual as he whispered into her ear for a moment, before snapping a salute. Croix did the same, and the young officer disappeared.

She sighed, as the orders depressed her. Apparently, Reich intelligence had gotten wind of additional reinforcements heading their way, and had ordered her to retreat immediately, effectively terminating Operation: Punishment, in it's original form, anyway. They aim was to lure enemy naval forces into a trap at a distant archipelago, where additional naval forces, as well as a good deal of ground-based anti-ship forces and aircraft awaited.

All aircraft were ordered to RTB immediately as the Tocrowkian fleet began to reverse, full speed away from the battle, intensifying the fire from their guns as well as expending a good deal of missiles to cover this retreat.

Generals and command staff alike cheered with joy as they received confirmed reports of the Tocrowkian withdrawal of naval forces from Kubran waters as messages were sent out to the task force commanders already deployed to the region. General Von Mann smiled as he examined satellite photographs of the enemy movements as they retreated before handing them off to the other Chiefs of Staff, Navy Chief of Staff Fleet Admiral Hans Langsdorff spoke first, "Sir, we barely touched their forces, they are only removing themselves from the area to regroup for a larger assault, we must remain on station to defend the country of Kubra!"

Marshal-General Elisa Greif, Army Chief of Staff, nodded in agreement, "We must maintain a security force within Kubra if the nation is to remain safe, especially with the removal of Anglad military forces," She explained, "The responsibility now lies on the Republic to help those in need."

"Then we shall announce the formation of a joint task force that will consist of a number of units slated for the defence of Kubra," Said Von Mann, "The naval task forces will remain on station off the coast and will maintain a forward presence until furthur notice while we will strengthen Land and Air Forces already deployed to the nation and the formation of 'Aequatian Forces Kubra' which will remain in the country until its own defence forces are rebuilt."

The Wyverns once again took their toll on the Eagle I weapons as many were either destroyed entirely or placed out of commission. Two more Ealge II platfroms fell victim to the combined assault by the Wyverns and the kill vehicles, with one once again engulfing all those around it as its twin-linked reactor went critical and violently exploded, the other falling out of orbit and drifting silently into space. It was then that the battle fell into pure chaos as dozens of gangs consisting of the David kinetic kill vehicles, which were designed to possess a small and difficult to detect signature to improve their success rate against enemy ballistic missiles, charged forward as their electronic eyes and minds homed in on the Wyvern platforms which were already being overworked by the onslaught of the Lancer and Ealge I devices. The surviving Eagle II weapons turned their attentions towards the Wyverns now, joining the attack against what they considered to be their worst foe, firing their overworked particle beam cannons.

Dozens of kilometres below, the forty F-1C Banshee fighters released their AIM-154F Comet missiles as they linked with the orbital detection system and tracked their targets. Their rocket boosters burned and they streaked skywards as the aircraft started their return, their launch of the hundred and sixty missiles against the enemy satellites complete.

The F-7A pilots that had pulled out of the fight against the Tocrowkian UCAVs were relieved to witness the retreat of their enemy which had raped the squadrons of their numbers, although the arriving sixty aircraft that had been launched to reinforce the fight only saw them as easy targets, but chose not to so as to fire their missiles against the retreating Raven fighters, the hundred and sixty AIM-154B Comet missiles each dropped from the hardpoints on the Predator fighters and engaged their engines as they streaked off towards their targets, their boosters propelling them to the necessary speed of Mach 8 before allowing their scramjet engines to engage and accelerate them to a speed of over twice their original.

The bombers sat on the tarmac as they were rearmed and fueled for flight, but their crews remained at the side of the aircraft, taking shelter from the beating sun underneath the gigantic swing-wings of the aircraft. The second wave of attacks against the enemy fleet had been called "unecessary" by Central Command and that the Air Force units were to remain on standby for immediate scramble should they return to Kubran Territorial waters.

It was at this point in time that the accompanying fighter wings began to arrive, F-1C Banshee and F-2A Abbadon fighters and the additional support units aboard C-5G Galaxy II and C-180 Carryall transports. Almost immediately, the F-2A fighters began their air combat patrols along the coast while the Banshees were prepared for their most successful role, long-range interception.

Soldiers of the 3rd Division sat somewhat relaxed in their defensive positions with weapons setdown but in arm's reach. Under normal circumstances, Army units were always required to wear their MOPP equipment, but with the threat of nuclear deployment already in the air, it was seen as beneficial to the troops that they be prepared for even a chemical attack as was shown by the bulky suits and protective masks at the ready should the warning come. Corporal Jack Roberts, a commander for an M4 Spartan infantry vehicle, sat on the turret and looked down at the squad his vehicle was assigned to, he looked over at the squad leader, a young female sergeant, "Ma'am, when do you think those Reich bastards will show up?"

She set her helmet down along with her G6A1 carbine and looked up at the corporal, "Hopefully never, then we can go home sooner," She replied, "The sooner we can put this RBC shit back in storage, the better, I feel like a damned Marine."

The squad laughed as they continued on with their duties and routine of monitoring the distance for an enemy they neither believed would arrive.
