Yeah, sure. Where's the battle at, what kind of forces do they have?

battle is in the North of CT, around the region with the little indent in it caused by massachusetts here (http://www.ct.gov/ecd/lib/ecd/20/14/CTROADS.GIF). Assume the shells hit Granby.

Here's some info for the CT National Guard, (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/agency/army/arng-ct.htm) I hope this helps. You may also assume there's armed civilians nearby, CT is friendly to shotguns and rifles, if not to pistols, in RL (I live there) :).

I know, I have family there. I'm can't find Guard numbers, so I'm just going to assume there's about a thousand soldiers, plus 5k militiamen in the area.

I have a 10 gun detachment from the 42nd Arty battalion (105mm cannons, towed), and 1st Battalion - 181st Infantry Regiment of the 26th Inf. Brigade, plus a detachment of 20 UH-1H Hueys from C Company of the 126th Aviation Battalion. Hopefully, a reasonable number....

1st Battalion was probably ICly moved from Worchester (sic) to the Enfield Gap to help defend against potential counterassault. It's battlaion strength, so at least a few thousand men should be in there...

OOC: Battalion-strength is about a thousand men or less. (5 companies of 200).
IC:
The 3rd battalion of the 1st CT Guards moves north towards the Enfield Gap, supported by the Granby Militia. They have no air support, and logistics are limited. The soldiers are clearing the ground as quickly as possible, to end the shelling of Granby.

The Hueys of the MA Defense Forces are deployed to perform limited scouting raids, they spot the CT Guardsmen and fire upon them before leaving, radioing their superiors that the enemy is coming, giving out their positions.

In response, elements of 1st Battalion take up defensive positions in wooded areas and near the guns, while the Artillery begins to redajust itself.

Er, sign up? Anyways, I'll be Nebraska. Since if anyone else did it, they'd be like 'Corn...'

SIC

Governor Dave Heineman sat at his desk in the Governors Mansion, which sat just across the street from the Lincoln Capital Building. The US Breaking up was disturbing indeed, but there was no time to think about that. He had to take action to help better Nebraska's position, step one would be to authorize the Nebraska National Guard to become Nebraska's Army, and he already had their first mission sat up.

In order to keep Omaha from forming it's own nation, Heineman would have to please them. Council Bluffs would have to be seized from Iowa. With Council Bluffs, the Nebraskan Economy would remain stable.

ORBAT for Operation Rattlesnake

6,250 Infantrymen
15 Apache Helicopters
2 F-18s
1 F-15
125 Humvees

The Missouri River Bridge of Omaha-Council Bluffs

The Bridge was the first Objective of Operation Rattlesnake. The Nebraska National Guard would have to secure it in order to get supplies into the City, the secondary objective was to also cut off all power going into Council Bluffs from Omaha. This would leave the city in complete Darkness, and it would also help catch Council Bluffs by surprise. It was what would happen, relatively peaceful take over of the City was hoped. However, they were prepared for any sort of confrontation. All Iowa cars in-bound to Omaha were seized, and their occupants forced out and sent to a temporary Internment Camp sat up just at Omaha's end of the bridge. Their cars would be moved out of the way to keep traffic in the favor of the National Guard. This Operation was to be a quick one, and hopefully would be over by Sunrise.

EDIT OOC Yea I ignored the close because I'd hate to see some dipshit take Nebraska and go 'WE OFFER YOU CORN!'...

Anyways, accept me or not...

*whistle* used to do a lot of Post America RPs anyways...

Continuation

Mjr. Gen. Lempke realized the importance of keeping Council Bluffs pinned down. One of two F-18s were sent to destroy the North Bridge, as the other was sent to destroy the section of I-80 going from Council Bluffs to Des Moines. The F-15 would make patrols around the City as each Apache would make it's own route around both Residential and Downtown areas. The 6,250 Troops would in the Downtown area of Council Bluffs in hopefully no time. The peacefulness of the 'invasion', more or less annexation, was expected to be a high. Both cities relied on eachother, and the Casino Economy of Council Bluffs would hopefully be able to keep Nebraska's own Economy rather bolstering. There were talks of perhaps an invasion into Kansas and Missouri to cease the Lake of the Ozarks and the surrounding communities, and to take all major road ways between Nebraska City and Kansas City. It was still odd for most, but Kansas City was actually a City in Missouri.

Continuation

Soldiers marched passed the little Internment camp, already reaching a little less than a hundred Iowans. It was sort of depressing, seeing fellow Americans forcing others into such hellish seeming contraption. It wasn't an easy task for the Nebraskans, but it was necissary to help keep the State safe. The North Bridge had been reported destroyed, with an apparent casualty rate. There had been a slight back up on the bridge, however the F-18 failed to notice it. It was the first horrible thing to put a little streak of depression and stress in everyone's heart. Council Bluffs was as good as Nebraska's, although there was a small Iowa National Guard station. About a third had already been routed out and been disarmed, being put into a seperate internment camp on Nebraskan-Occupied Council Bluffs. All the Casinos on the River, built intentionally to attract the Nebraskans whom had no right to gamble in the State of Nebraska back when the Union was still the Union, were basically now occupied. It was a quick and easy advance, however reports of the first battle made it's way to Lempke and Heineman.

The Battle for Broadway

Gunshots erupted from 17th and Broadway as a Convoy of Humvees were making their way down the large street, which was essentially a part of I-80. An AT-4 was fired into the lead Humvee, which was ripped in an explosion which had taken the lives of all the occupants inside. The Humvees behind it broke up and their gunners began shooting at windows and rooftops of the surrounding buildings. Gunshots roared from those areas, raining down on the Convoy. One of the 7 Humvees' gunner was shot in the head, and his body slumped back into the vehicle. The radio Operator of the same Humvee started screaming in for Air Support, however it seemed that other parts of Council Bluffs were as well breaking into war. The sound of an Apache made it self clear, and began firing it's rocket pods on the roof top of a large building. You could see sparks comming off of it in the dark dawn sky as bullets ricochet off of the belly of the beast. It made a turn around and began ripping up another building with it's machinegun, and the Humvees were able to regroup. A Humvee parked in the street and the Fire Team sized Squad on board jumped out and ran to the burning Humvee.

Not to their own surprise, they heard a rather loud groaning. A man began screaming, telling him that they would not leave him behind. The next moment, the same man who was screaming that out fell to his knees and slumped onto his back. He had been shot right above the collar bone. The rest of the men formed into two groups, as on dragged the wounded man off and the others wrestled the badly injured man from the Humvee. They all ran to an alley way, and began radioing for a Medic from one of the other Humvees to come aid them immediatly.

It really was quite the gorey mess.

The four men dressed as civilians walked down Beale Street, casually peeking into the various bars and clubs. They blended in rather well, even having a beer in hand, although anyone paying them any attention could notice they weren't drinking.

"Mark," whispered one of the men, as, down the street, a black Cadillac luxury vehicle rolled to a stop. The door opened, and out walked Memphis, Tennessee mayor Tedrick Lewis, who promptly walked into a local blues club where he was known to spend his Friday nights. The four men continued walking casually, and ducked into the same bar just minutes later.

Each man took a seat at the bar, closing the governor betwixt them. The closest one to his right leaned over. "Mayor Lewis, don't look down. I have a forty-five caliber pistol aimed directly at you, and if you make any sudden movements or calls, I will blow your head off. Listen. You're about to come with us, go back to the Mayor's Mansion, and announce to the city that Memphis will, as of now, be joining the Confederacy of Mississippi. Or I can kill you; I have no problems with that. It's your choice, Mayor."

The mayor looked around, and slowly rose. A black Ford Expedition rolled to a stop outside, waiting on the five men. Tonight was going to be a good night. Hopefully, preparations were being finalized for New Orleans.

Good Morning America

The fighting began to die down as the two F-18s began to drop their payload on Broadway, and when an aditional 800 troops from Omaha crossed the bridge. The number of foot soldiers in Council Bluffs was about 3,932. Casualties were fairly nominal, being at 17 Dead and 23 Wounded. It was quite a bit, however, a few casualties had been caused by Friendly Fire when the fighting began to kick up. It was just too hard to determine one another, being as everyone used the same uniforms and weapons and tactics. Council Bluffs was fully Nebraskan in only 4 hours and 32 minutes. Now, it was time to announce to the state and perhaps any others that would care to pay attention.

Governor Heineman's Press Conference
News Coverage by the Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World Herald

"I had, yesterday, authorized full Military Force in the seizing of Council Bluffs from the ineffective leadership of Iowa. It was in our best interests that we improve upon Nebraska's economy, although already good. It was also in fear that if we had not done such a thing, the leadership in Iowa may have considered an invasion of Omaha. As many may have heard in their homes in Omaha, the gunshots and explosions were most likely from that of Council Bluffs. I can not, at this time, though state Casualties and the exact events that followed the invasion of Council Bluffs. There shall be more debriefed to the Public whn such is considered safe to de-classify. Thank you."

IC: (Need NPC for Oklahoma)
In the early morning hours a message was sent to the Oklahoma governors office. The message stated that the Republic of Texas declares a state of war against the state of Oklahoma.

After the message was sent the 7th Bomb Wing took off from Dyess AFB.
Their mission is to strike key military bases in Oklahoma with JDAM guided misslies. This included the Artillery units at Fort Sill. Using stealth and jammer technology, they intend to cripple the military of Oklahoma before it can attack the troops moving into the state.

The ground force has been split into four task forces. Task forces "A" through "D". They will attack the border towns and move north until they reach the Kansas border. A smaller task force will take the panhandle after the main part of Oklahoma is secured.

[NPC needed for Alabama.]

The message was sent late, around ten o'clock. It was short, to the point, and would, with any luck, get things stirred up pretty well.

Governor Milborne of Alabama,

You will surrender your control of Fort Rucker, near the Dothan/Enterprise local area, to the control of the Confederacy of Mississippi. If you do not so surrender this territory, the Confederacy may indeed be forced to remove this land from your hands by force. We hope you choose the former. We have no intentions of harming your state or territory, and sincerely hope the best for you and your citizens, as well as your growing state. Consider our offer.
