Farmers Protest Against LifeWyze

Cruxium
16-07-2006, 17:19
Thousands of cattle farmers worldwide have banded together to dennounce the LifeWyze Corporation, claiming it is driving them out of business. Recent unveiling of the B. Tworus has made farming regular cattle, according to the farmers, obsolete. The Guild of International Cattle Farming (GICF) claim that they are all at risk of bankruptcy.

Sales of beef and veal from the B. Tworus have dominated the fastfood market, with McRonalds and Burger Monarch both switching entirely from standard farmed beef. It is also rumoured that supermarkets will soon introduce this meat. As of yet there has been no word from LifeWyze Corp. regarding the claims of GICF, nor any statement as to how many of the B. Tworus are being sold world wide and the revenue from the venture.

Now with the release of the B.Tworus MKII, farmers fear even heavier losses as supermarkets cease to purchase standard milk.

During a report today, the LifeWyze Corporation stated that farming of the previous centuries was no longer viable in the modern world.

According to LifeWyze, they intend to revolutionize farming through their subsidiary company, BioFarm Projects. New cattle have already been produced with plans under way to modify three types of vegetables.

A LifeWyze Spokesman had this to say;

"Farming as we have known it is no longer viable in this day and age. As such, in order to adapt, BioFarm Projects will be providing cheaper, healthier foods that will better combat povety in third world nations and ensure improved health amongst the increasingly unhealthy Western nations."

When asked about the fate of pre-existing farmers, the spokesman claimed that farmers who cannot compete will either receive Government subsidies or have to cease activity.

Import Tax Raised in the Coalition!

While the Coalitionist Government has not gone so far as to ban the new 'meat product', they have, in the intrest of protecting the large cattle harvesting industry, placed a 45% Import Tax on the meat, making it economically foolish to import or consume. Any attempts to illegally smuggle such products into the Coalition will result in severe economic and political retribution against the LifeWyze Corporation.

LifeWyze announced today that deals to sell the meat have been made with McRonalds, Burger Monarch, Large Chef and eighteen different nations, as well as three supermarket chains, Tezco, Wal*Market and Mark & Spencers'.

There are now seven hundred thousand B. Tworus A strain cultivated, with two hundred and twenty thousand B. Tworus B strain. The herds are further being increased with the modification of over 600,000 sq ft in Maraque being turned into a BioFarm Projects facility.

Currently there are no deals on milk, however LifeWyze proclaims that it has had many enquiries into its' milk. Seemingly only to irritate the Coalition Government, LifeWyze has begun to deliver milk to the country in large quantities. Reports would indicate it is the only country the milk is being tested in.

Carmina Gadalica-A Parliment Bill Banning GMO's was passed and signed into law. Prime Minister Elenore Romney went out to the farmers belt in Centeral West Kanami, to sign the bill into law.

"The farmers have worked here for years. They are family ran, and dedicated to there work. We can not and will not allow corperations to accept GE Meats to put on Kanami Markets, and run these family farms into the ground."

Romney has likely futher plans in reaction with the Farmers protest against LifeWyze. As for Cute Bunny Burger Corp, the corperation has long since guranteed fresh natural meet.

Kurona, Aqua Anu, and Magic Sorcery are taking similar paths, and Romeny asks all of Kanami's allies and freinds to do the same. Kanami also fully supports the Coalitionist Government of Kroando, and even praises them.

Romney planes to adress the world with further concerns at a later time.

The Morvonian goverment today has enounced the banning of any foods containing LifeWyze Corporation or LifeWyze Corporation associate products, including fast-food and supermarkets.

A statment was released today by the minister of agriculture Benton Lanosii;

"We have done this for two reasons 1) The way the food is created goes against laws already in place in Morvonia and 2) The danger of these geneticly created foods escaping and contamination of the rest of the vegetable and cattle market is too great to be allowed on Morvonian soil."

Also companies who use the meat after the 6 day deadline will face stiff fees and possible jail time of workers. Also the 6 days will give time for cleaning crews to remove any trace of these products, as well as the ordering of new goverment sanctioned products.

Despite the controversy surrounding the B. Tworus A strain meat, LifeWyze Corporation announced today that the BioFarm Projects subsidiary had made records profits, a staggering $275bn USD.

LifeWyze Corporation further stated that it would importing its' modified meat into African countries at only 42% of the standard price: sold at the break even margin. This statement was met with mixed feelings, from those who consider it an invaluable act of charity, to those who fear GM products will damage not only the health of the citizenry but the economy.

Regardless, the LifeWyze Corporation has vowed that it shall continue to sell GM food.

ANIK campaigns against 'gene-food'

The just-founded rejistanian group ANIK (Asene Neutu Intekra ve kyia = association for integer and sustainable food*) campaigns against the use of genetically changed food like the LifeWyze B. Tworus. Their arguments are both ideologically motivated (a large number of the members belong to various 'compilistic' movements) and motivated by concerns about health and economical reasons. Lentine Eha Desan explained the position like this on a demonstration against gene-manipulated Kyxam:
We have come to a point, where we can no longer trust our eyes and our stomach. The food, which might be on our table can be genetically altered and by this be a potential danger. No, I am not paranoid: there are proofs that genetically altered food can cause different allergic reactions than the normal food which means unsuspecting people will become affected by food, which never made problems, suddenly. And we do not talk about the economical prospects. The term here is DEPENDENCE - dependence on a single company is never a good thing in a market. We want freedom to produce** whatever we want and not what the companies allow us to! We of course must not forget the emotional implications of these horrible use of technology. For any compilisitc approach to life, it is important to know basic things such as your food!

If LifeWyzen should enter the rejistanian market, the ANIK promises "a loud reply".

Official Response from Allanean Arms, Incorporated

We believe that in a truly free market, all technological development should be welcome. We invite Cruxium's LifeWyze, Incorporated to sell us some of this engineered meat to be used in the MRE's we supply to the Allanean Army and the Greater Prussian Imperial Guard.

On the other hand, we feel the pain of those farmers that are threatened with job loss due to these developments. As such, Allanean Arms, Incorporated is offering contracts to any farmers who wish to convert their land to the growing of corn and sugarcane for use by our corporation. We estimate that to sate the needs of the Allanean market for corn and sugarcane products, several million acres need to be planted with it, and we will take any offers.

In other words, we will happily pay you to grow these goods on your land. If you do not like this, you can get in touch with our Exotic Genetics Subdivision, and start growing our exotic food animals – emus, elephants, and so on, and so forth.

God Bless Allanea!
God Bless the Market!

In contiuning coverage of the Farm-LifeWyze Battles, Prime Minister Romney is getting tough, and is getting agressive. As well as the farmers of the country. Paticulary in the small town of Lillyvill.

One farmer, Kiyoko Mihoma told how much she hopes her farm will contiune working.

"You know I'm a 3rd Generation Farmer, been doing it all my life, and now a bunch of suites think they can waltz in and tell us what is viable in these days, and make money by running us into the ground."

So you support Romney's tactics on this one?

"Oh absolutley, I mean I'm a Democrat, and I voted for the other guy, but I think Romney is a person of the people, she's a good Godly woman, she knows when free eneterprise is too much."

In other cases we talked to young children who seemed to be piking up vibes.
7 year old Sasha Michales, has been hearing and feeling the worst.

"Momy and daddy have been talking about this a lot, and the other kids at school too. I'm scared we're going to lose our home."

The teens know better, but certianly feel the same way. Jacob Armante, and his two brothers and three sisters are feeling just as anxious.

Jacob: "Well I'm the oldest 16, and I know more than my younger siblings, I know we wouldn't go homless, but we would lose the house the land, everything."

His sister Marie feels just as inclined to do something.

Marie: "I wish these greedy corperations would wake up and look at the people they are hurting, instead of looking at there bank acounts. They can choke on there genetic meat for all I care."

This small town out west knows what would happen if the farmers lost.

Reverend Purdy: "Well we would have to look to the bigger main food markets in the country, or out, and we like the small town neighborly feel we have with the farmers."

Christao Priest Koh Yuu feels the same.

"LifeWyze is abusing their power, they have so much potential to do good, but they do evil instead. I mean this power can be used to make crops and farmland where it was impossible, but they don't do that, they give organic farms to any nation that will take them, and just run them out."

Atopania Representative,

We at the LifeWyze Corporation have learned of your intention to send armed, professional soldiers, whilst attempting to cause anarchist uprising, with the intent to disrupt LifeWyze Corporation operations.

Firstly, such action would be an act of invasion into the territory of either Maraque of Cruxium. Without doubt, breaching the sovereignty of either nation would be interpreted as an act of war.

Secondly, violent actions taken against the LifeWyze Corporation will result in retaliation. Whilst the LifeWyze Corporation deplores the use of violence in any dispute, we will act in the interest of our company and meet force with force.

Yours Faithfully,

Pale Rider Arms finds these protests laughable. Simple common sense would dictate that these framers simply utilize genetically engineered stock themselves. As such, PRA applauds LifeWyze in its efforts, and, if not for its own genetically improved forms of livestock, would utilize them itself.

As such, Pale Rider Arms decries the foolish posturing of the Atopiana government, and will take appropriate steps if it acts on these threats. As such, PRA is offering LifeWyze the services of FireHawk Security Service at all its facilities until this crisis is over, gratis.

What, pray tell, is this B. Tworus A strain? Barring information, I have ordered the congress to ban all imports and use of the aforementioned strain. This is in line with Mer des Ennusian policy prohibiting the growing of genetically modified food for human consumption by two generations (i.e. genetically modified soy/wheat/etc. cannot be fed to cattle ment for human consumption), as well as the support we give to farmers, who are necessary for the maintenance of a greenbelt. We hope this does not hamper future business with Lifewyze.

Food Fight over Genmod Goods

Another uproar by farmers against the LifeWyze corporation is crippling sales and bringing attention to the Organic versus GM (Genitically Modified) conflict.

While the idea that people would actively fight gentically modified food is a strange concept for the 70% and rising number of people who are no longer Homo Sapiens Sapiens but Homo Sapiens Leafanistanis they may seem to have a good platform at first.

Many opponents of genitically modified foods claim if they escape into the wild, they'll pass their transgenes on and destroy the environment. Many people will point out that studies claiming this have used faulty PCR (DNA duplication technique) and were contanminated and that controlled studies couldn't reproduce the results.

They also claim it has reduced biodiversity and it has, but prehistoric 'genetic engineering' has done so very well.

Maize and wheat used to compromise a very large diversity, but thanks to the slow ways to make GM foods, which is selective breeding. The precursor animal to the cow is now nowhere to be seen, and there are no longer any true wild horses, just feral ones.

They also argue about the chances of allergic reactions, but allergies are notoriously hard to predict and can erupt from nowhere even to everyday things such as apples. My own mother has personally been allergic to apples when about 35 years ago she suddenly developed it until about a decade ago when it suddenly stopped and she was finally able to enjoy the taste of apples once again. The oppurtunity to relieve famine and to provide healthier food against the risk of using too many pesticides, at a lower price is something that is too great to simply toss aside as 'might be dangerous'.

When presented with the oppurtunity to help so many, can we simply put our standards onto it for 'health food' or 'alternative food' or 'organic food' when so many simply want 'food' in general?

Those who argue against genetically modified food with no proven cause of damage to people are twisted, self righteous monsters who would sacrifice the lives of those who cannot afford basic foodstuffs (which is much more expensive then they think, in many nations the cheap price of meat is because of government subsidies) for imaginary concerns.

Before we start banning life-saving food that happens to be genetically modified lets actually see if it is harmful to anyone.

Carpathia Ziemowit,

The B. Tworus A strain is the original B. Tworus developed by LifeWyze for the sole purpose of harvesting meat. It is developed from the Helliot sub-genus of the B. Taurus. Further information can be found (in the store front) where the nature of the B. Tworus A strain, simply called B. Tworus, can be viewed at your leisure. Currently the cattle are fed standard food produce, however soon shall be fed upon various crops being modified.

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us. Your prohibition of one aspect of LifeWyze in no way comprimises future relations with the LifeWyze Corporation.
