Wellington Island

Wellington Island was found by the British who, although did not claim the island, left British rulers in place. The British men who found it, took power in the island somewhat. The island is known for its form of child marriage. For example:
A bride of 14 could be married to a groom of 16. A child and adult are never placed together.
Wellington Islanders speak their own language and English. Wellington Islanders are known to be keeping the Code of Darius, a Persian who shipwrecked here, some keep the Darian Code still. The island is ran by a Great Chief, who runs a absolute monarchy, you could say. His successors are elected by the People.
Women are given rights here and one may see several killings for revenge on raping a wife or daughter of a man. The rape of a man's wife or daughter was considered a huge insult and was punished by death, sometimes by vigilantes.
The favourite method of execution here is whipping to death. Hanging was introduced by the British. The Island's Charter has these two as the only legal forms allowed of execution.
The islanders do hold pride in their nation, that they have lived in for many centuries. The Great Chief currently is Great Chief Cyrus (when Darius came, Cyrus, Darius and Xerxes were adopted names). Cyrus has a family of his own and has all daughters, except for 2 sons out of his 8 children.
Men here are encouraged to be respectful to women, objectifying women here is not liked. The Great Chiefs have allowed for their daughters to take power in later life.
The national religions are Animism, Shamanism, Paganism and Christianity. In the Council of the Wise Ones, each religion is represented by one Animist elder, one Shamanist elder, one Pagan elder and one Christian elder.
Wellington Islanders have a cathedral in New London, the Cathedral of the Resurrection. It is visited by devout Christians on Sundays.
The island was neutral in WWI and WWII. It did not see a point to fight. The national newspaper is The People's Daily, which reports on everything happening. Foreign versions are there for citizens abroad.
The island state is known for the movie, Walking on Fire in which the Great Chief's daughter is kidnapped by the Communist group, the Revolutionaries, this incident did occur and Communists did attemp a coup but were disposed of. However, the island did have relations with Stalin, Mao, Khruschev and others.
Walking on Fire is a movie made in Wellington Island, it is accurate, reviewed by historians. The daughter, the real life one did not see the movie, passing from a car accident some time before its release.
Another movie, in fact documentary is ''The Slick Pimp'', a discussion on the prostitution, especially of girls as young as 7 (Slick Back only did girls), by the pimp, Slick Back who was later executed by whipping and then hanged upside down by his feet. The pimp, who was American, soured relations with the USA.
Prostitution is not liked here, seen as wrong by those who hold respect for women. It is seen here, but some will occassionaly urge hookers to reform. Child Prostitutes, mainly girls, are tooken off the streets by parents and authorities.
The charter has strict punishments for rape of a woman and girl. The Island Charter can punish rapists and pedophiles to whipping to death or hanging. The government of the old Great Chief, Arzevan was criticized for using machine guns and guns to fire on a Alice Day (Girl Love Pedophile holiday) Parade. A movie called ''Bloody Alice'' is based on it. One member of Arzevan's government said in defense of the actions:
''We did it because we did not want these sick pedophile bastards preaching their bullshit about these things''.- (Not many islanders use ''Western Swearing'' but this man did)
Arzevan did not comment on the actions but continued ruling until his passing to the Next Life. A marker is placed where the shootings occured.
Some people don't want to talk about the Alice Day Incident really. One man was said in an article in the People's Daily to have supported it and ''encouraged people to kill pedophiles, rapists and other people the man thought were polluting society''.
As to Arzevan's involvement in the shootings, that is under investigation. Did he order it? Did he not? Who knows?
The Wellington Islanders continue their lives still today, on their island nation, their beloved state.
