[It might help if you gave a unit description.]

Their are no specific units to give- this is for future products as such they have not been created yet. As, I said- names for all types of equipment, from A to Z.

You think of a name, any names and if its choosen, choose your reward.

Just saw PotC II so ships on the mind...

I'd say the Kraken makes for a pretty good ship name. Probably a really really big ship. Either that or Leviathan.

Hmm...

Pegasus sounds like a good name for a plane.

And... that's all I've got right now. I'll be back later though.

I reckon Kraken is batter for a submarine

I like Leviathan and Behemoth for large capital ships. I'd use mythical beasts for tank names

The Kraken and Pegasus names have been choosen. Since many people use Leviathan for ships name we have decided not to use it, were looking for orginal names, unquie never before seen. Like Kraken and Pegasus.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hood for a battleship :D

Since, Hood was a battlecrusier, and an out classed one at that, were sorry but that named will just not due. However, if you have any more names we will give each and every name you suggest a look over.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Planes: any bird; falcons seem popular, I like naming mine after mythical birds.... OH OH here's an idea name them after those monsters from that game... oh what's it called, god dammit! oh yea pokemon! name stuff after them!]

Were looking for specific names please, as for the pokemon thing- no, I'm sorry just no- we want a name that will impower the ship with status- not have it want to sound like a toy little childern would play with.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

What I’m going to list will be for small arms and larger hand-held weapons:

Lion 9mm pistol

X24 Wild Tiger assault rifle

X113 Bloody Jack sub-machine gun

X45 Elite sniper rifle

X50 Big Bull sniper rifle

X187 Red Bull grenade launcher

The Eagle Eye anti-air missile launcher

The Roach anti-armor rocket launcher

We already use the Lion for a ship class, however the rest sound good but, were going to have to give them some more thought. In the meantime we look foward to seeing what else you can come up with.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

For a small transport ship...

Shallow Harbor/Inlet Transport

That name sounds great, as such we have choosen it. Keep up the good work.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

If, your name was not selected were sorry but it did not meet our ideas in a name. But, their is good news. You can submit more then once. If you got a good name, we loved to hear it. Those whos names were picked will be listed and who suggested them.

Let's see.

For a large plane (possibly transport, as they seem to be the biggest, but if you end up making a really big combat plane) Roc.

Likewise the Ziz, but I imagine that's not really well enough known.

Drake would make a good name either for a plane or a tank.

I think this might already be used, but Behemoth for a MBT or HBT.

Balban for any type of stealth vehicle.

A multi-purpose vehicle would be the Chimera.

Don't have any suggestions for specific uses, but Wyvern, Golem, and Phoenix all strike me as farely good names.

Names Choosen:
1. Kraken and Pegasus by The Aeson.
2. Shallow Harbor/Inlet by Sniper Country

Kraken is the giant sea-squid of legend and really not appropriate as a name for anything when it means "twisted" or "Crab-Fish" Not really something that strikes fear into the hearts of stout men....

Pegasus has been done to death by numerous things. Organizations such as the British Airborne and was even the name of a Valve-computer system, its been done and isn't really original or all that "cool" sounding anymore.

And really, Shallow Harbour? I'd be worried about running aground than fending off a system called that...

You need something simple and functional and really if you're going to name classes of things go use a dictionary or pull words and places from inside your nation, or use people who "exist" in your nation for a name. Or make it a decent sounding acronym. Dont steal ideas off of other folks because you're too lazy to go find words yourself.

Do you know where some of my names come from?

Hymns.
That's right, Hymns.
Find a hymn of some description and read the lyrics, you should soon find some names and wordings placed together in there.

Also, what kind of prize is "one" of the units that you name really worth to a nation? Especially if their name winds up on something like a pistol, or a jeep, hardly going to break your bank is it?

I reckon you should go find your own names instead of running a "competition".

Okay. Maybe nobody else understands that it's possible to have a sense of humor anymore.

Shallow Harbor/Inlet Transport.

S.hallow H.arbor / I.nlet T.ransport.

Holy crap, people.

[Not to mention it's a Transport, which you somehow forgot to look at, so I'd see little to no reason to need to "fend it off".]

Yep. The name of one of the most feared and legendary sea monsters ever isn't worthy to have a ship named after it. Makes sense to me.

PS, if you can find a name for something that makes someone scared, I'd like to see it. I mean, seriously.

-Reich Foreign Ministry-

We have been doing it our self, but lately are creative department has ran into a road block and to help get their heads out of thier ass, our Military Industries decided to hold this contest to see what others thoughts were and to come up with new ideas. Were glad we made that decision, as so far we've seen lots of good ideas in even this short period of time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

How about Bandit for an IFV or LBT

We have decided to use the name you suggested, we were going to use it on a chopter but, we gave your idea some more thought, and came up with using it on one of our IFV like you suggested on one of our already designed IFV but, we really never did like the name. We called it the Leopard III IFV, but Bandit does sound better. What do you think?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Azrael ; Odin ; Archimedes ; Octavious ; Agape ; Primal ; Cerberus ; Sinister ; Fear ; Ender

random eh?

The first 3 we loved as names as such they were chosen, however the rest just didn't do it for use, sorry. We really like the name Azrael, another name for the angel of death. Going to be tough designing a product of death to live up to its name so we got our work cut out for us.

Um, United Earthlings, your idea of Hood being 'outclassed' is ridiculous and a stereotype of wiki reading.

Either way, the largest battleship in the world (NS) is named Hood, so meh...

Defiant, Vanguard, Centurion, Victorious, Vanguard, Revenge.

Actually, I was aware of the Hood long before I starting reading wiki. And for your information I read more the just wiki for information, I try to get my hands on ever source I can for the best picture. As such, when I say the Hood was outclassed by the Germans in ship design, you should believe me. The HMS Hood was obsolete the moment it was laid down. The era of the Big Gun was over, the rise of the Carrier was dawning. If you don't believe me heres a different link that says the same thing about the hood being outdated (ie lack of armor). http://www.warship.org/no21987.htm

As for the names- Victorious and Vanguard have been selected.

OCC: Why did you list Vanguard twice? If thats so I pick it, ok I pick it.

Your perception of the 'age of the carrier' is incorrect. The Scharnhorst, Gneisenau, Bismarck, Tirpitz, and the various panzerschiffs were more deadly to British shipping than any aircraft ever was. Why was it that every battleship ever sunk by the aircraft carrier did not have a CAP of its own aircraft or sufficient escorts of its own? Don't EVER tell me that I 'should believe you' when I have spent many, many, MANY hours researching battleships and their merits and weaknesses. You should believe me, I am much more educated on the matter than you are.

The fact is, that Hood's demise was a lucky hit, and it still cannot be proven what exactly did it. The belief that it was weak armour covering the magazines is not the only possibility - in fact, it is possible that in some areas Hood's protection was so good she could take 16in shells. Would you say that the USS Cole is a weak ship because it was heavily damaged by one man, a small boat, some explosives, and a little book?

Doolittle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Doolittle) would be sad to hear you say that.
Don't count on it, aircraft sunk more ships then the ships themselves. Heres just one aircraft that did alot of work- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Focke-Wulf_Fw_200#Combat_service.
Yeah, she took a 16in shell well, well right into the kisser. On the other side you got the Bismark that took over an hour of punishment from guns of all cailber and torpedoes and still did not sink. And what did the Bismark in, oh thats right aircraft.

The USS Cole has a huge hole blown open in its side and 17 crewmembers killed because of some explosives. I hate to see what happens when a modern anti-ship missile hits the ship in the same spot with lots of explosives (3-5 times as much). Call me insane but that sounds like a weak ship to me.

Doolittle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Doolittle) would be sad to hear you say that.

...Because?

Don't count on it, aircraft sunk more ships then the ships themselves. Heres just one aircraft that did alot of work-

Posed a threat doesn't mean that it actually did any damage. HAD they been allowed to rampantly rage aroudn destroying convoys then they would have posed much more damage than the aircraft.

Yeah, she took a 16in shell well, well right into the kisser. On the other side you got the Bismark that took over an hour of punishment from guns of all cailber and torpedoes and still did not sink. And what did the Bismark in, oh thats right aircraft.

Did you actually read what I said? I said it was protected well enough in SOME AREAS to resist 16 inch shells. You also might want to note that the Bismarck was effectively mission killed by KGV and Rodney... those ships combined did more damage than the aircraft did...

The torpedo hit that hit Bismarck was lucky. Bismarck's anti air literally ripped apart the Swordfish attack.

The fact is, the USS Cole probably would have shot down that missile, because it would have detected it and engaged it long before it posed a threat. Much like how the Soviets were scared shitless of the Iowa's because no Soviet missile could damage it...

There is no one instance of a battleship being sunk by just an aircraft attack when it was:
a.) Fully covered with friendly CAPs
b.) Had a warning there was going to be an attack
c.) Had fully and well trained anti air crews.

Btw, links from Wiki just don't cut it as actual evidence.

Yeah, she took a 16in shell well, well right into the kisser.

So, which of Bismarck's 15-inch guns would that have come from?

And what did the Bismark in, oh thats right aircraft.

Really? I thought they damaged her due to a weakness in her armour scheme and she was finished off by battleships, cruisers and destroyers. She was still a fully effective combatant after the Swordfish raids, and any other BB would still have been entirely combat worthy.

And your claim that an ASM carries 3-5 times more explosive than an entire boat came from which part of your ass, exactly? Ships are designed to engage missiles, not boatloads of explosive going off in contact with their hull.

You really come up with good names, alot of those I would never think of. Heres the list of approved names- The Protector, The Grand Demon, The Pazner Wolf, The Dire Khan, The Tyr Omicron, Divination (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divination) and Hermes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermes).

We have decided to modify some of the names you suggested from the following The Grand Demon, the Panzer Wolf, The Dire Khan and the Tyr Omicron into "The Deomon Wolf", "The Khan" and "Omega" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omega). Don't worry, since your names gave us the idea you get full credit.

The modified names sound good. Good luck in designing vehicles for those names. Can’t wait to see what they look like.

OOC: You forgot to add the Divination to your list in the first post.

Surface Module Magnetizer

Alot of those names could be applied to FT names and were looking more for MT. However, we did like the name Magnetizer.

Were sorry, but that name just didn't do it for us.

In reply to Questers and GMC Military Arms. I would be glad to debeat the merits of Battleships vs Battleships or Battleships vs Aircraft Combat. However, if you want to do that, you have to create a new thread. Anymore replies on here about it will not be replied too. Thank You.

Thank you, I added it in. Some I have already design, I just didn't like the name so I changed them. 3 so far have been used.
