Full title: The Empire of Ethiopia

Land: (approximate, Includes Eritrea.) 1,204,360 sq kilometers.

Population: (as of 1967-68) approximately 35 million.

Political persuasion: Constitutional Monarchy.

(Due to constitutional reforms by the emperor Hailie Salasie I, Prior to this date the Empire was an absolute monarchy)

Head of State: The Eternal Emperor Hailie Salasie I.

Prime minister: (to be elected by 1968 and appointed by the Emperor)

Governmental Hierarchy: The Emperor still maintains his right to disolve parliament if he so chooses. but the new constitution of 1967 stipulates that the elected prime minister has an equal share in running state and foreign affairs.

The Emperor still maintains control of the Imperial Ethiopian Army/ Airforce and Navy.

The Newly appointed Imperial Senate (which takes place over the traditional Council of Elders, albeit rather controversially.) Is comprised of provincial delegates/representatives from the seven main provinces of the Empire.

(statistics are a bit lacklustre and perhaps inaccurate at the moment but hopefully i will amend this later on.. :) )

Ethiopia is a confluence of religions and different cultures. Where Christianity and Islam meet as do Somali and Amharic speaking peoples. The country is a Metaphorical melting pot of diversity.

This is the (Alternative history Earth) story of the Ethiopian empire. I will start with a timeline of events from 1900 to the present game year of 1968. (err hope its not too boring)


Prior to 1800: Ethiopia struggles to emerge from centuries of isolation due to Internal religous strife which eventually led to the eventual expulsion of Jesuit missionarys from ethiopia and the Emperor declaring Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity as the state religion. This provokes condemnation from the Colonial powers (especially France) who are angered by Ethiopias refusal to accept Roman cathocalism into the Country.

Italy makes very secret overtures to the Ethiopian Government. The Italian colonies of Etritea and Somalia are still full colonies (unlike Libya and Tunisia, which have been made part of Italy.) Because these colonies go against modern sensibilities, Italy offers to hand these colonies over to Ethiopia in five years time. However, Italy also asks the following concessions:

1. Italy will be allowed to keep military bases in Somalia and Etritea
2. Ethiopia will sign a pact of friendship with Italy, and agree to military cooperation with Italy.
3. Etritea and Somalia will hold a referendum on independence five years after the handover to Ethiopia. If either colony chooses independence, it will be granted partial autonomy within 6 months and full autonomy within 1 year
4. Ethiopia joins into the war against CSPS nations (no actual war contribution necessary, just a pro forma declaration of war.)

Something of Ethiopia's counterpart in Western Africa, Nigeria extends an offer of friendship and mutual defence to the Ethiopian government.

Similar to Ethiopia, Nigeria is a mix of religions and tribes. Both Islam and Christianity are major players in people's lives.

In early 1970, NIgeria annoucnes that it's vast surplus of food will allow it to effectively end the famine in Ethiopia. It offers this food to the Ethiopian government, along with an HQ unit and a light division to help distribute it.

Actually, just noticed something. The above build that Safehaven2 did is wrong. Food didn't come in to our builds til 1965, it looks like this should be 1965s build, no?
