International Menace Sparks Fears of War with May Day Parade!

Following the successful conclusion of peacekeeping operations in the neighbouring state of Grossetaape, and the installation of the People's Republic of Grossetaape by Atopiana's Council for the Promotion of the International Nature of the Revolution (CPINR), Skgorria has been upping the diplomatic ante.

The recent People's Militia parade in Grantham to celebrate May Day was seen as a slap in the face by the Skgorrian Tyranny, as it not only included the latest rocket - with a 500 mile range, enough to hit the outskirts of Skgorria's capital if deployed in the far north of Grossetaape- but it also involved the Skgorrian Liberation Army (SLA) and its 723rd Detachment, which is notorious for the 1998 bombing of Skgorria's main international airport.


Skgorria has officially warned Atopiana that any further invasions of neighbouring countries in support of left-wing rebels will be seen as an act of war. Atopiana's foreign Commissar-Elect, Eren Glythe, responded by announcing that Skgorria's fascist regieme was intolerable in the 21st century, and that Skgorria must introduce more social and political freedoms.

It is hard to see what direction this war of words will take, but many predict that given Atopiana and Skgorria's history of antagonism, the only course left open to the two nations is war.

Deterrent Weapons Program to be accelerated

Today the Leader ordered the stepping-up of Skgorria's Deterrent Weapons program after the Atopianian agression in annexing Grossetape.

The move came after Grossetape was annexed by the foul Atopianians in a blatant act of selfishness and beligerance. Their lack of a strong leader has allowed the populace to run riot and ruin the once-proud state of Grossetape.

With the first test of Alpha-class Deterrent Weaponry mere days away, a test site has been picked and dissidents attempting to forestall Skgorria's march into the future have been arrested. Using technology gleaned from the Confederate Space Program, sponsored by Pepsi and Defiance Industries in yet another example of how large corporations benefit Skgorria, several missiles have already been manufactured in expectation of a successful test in 3 days time.

Whilst the contents of the Alpha-class Package have not been revealed and are considered a state secret, Chief Engineer Smythe of Defiance Industries stated that "The Alpha Package will provide a comprehensive selections of detterent and offensive options to our military that has been lacking before"

Military buildup increases

Preperations continue for the defence of Skgorria as more reservists are called up and divisions are mobilised.

3 more divisions of the Skgorrian military will reach ready status by tomorrow evening following the Leader's order for a nationwide alert. Leave has been cancelled and all men and women serving in Category B units are to report for duty at their posts within the week. In addition, combat air patrols of the Skgorrian Air Force are now overflying our border with Grossetape and Atopiana to ensure our security. Border guards have been reinforced by armour and mechanised infantry. In addition, Skgorrian Home Guard units are to double their training hours.

Despite the Atopianian numerical supremacy, the Leader reminds us that we are far better prepared for war. It is the sacred duty of every Skgorrian man and woman to serve in the military so that our entire nation might unite behind the Leader as we battle on to victory, and our enormous Arms Manufacturing Industry means that even our Home Guard units are better equipped than some Atopianian front-line units.

Weapon Amnesty Ends

The amnesty of handing in private firearms came to an end at 10 am this morning, following the Leader's decision to ban private ownership on the grounds it promoted dissent and lawlessness.

Hundreds of thousands of weapons, ranging from personal sidearms to automatic rifles were turned in at police stations and army barracks. The fate of these weapons is unknown, but we place our faith in the Leader and thank him for doing so, for now Skgorria is a safer and more peaceful place.

Smoking Ban Imminent

A ban on smoking in public places is to go into full effect tomorrow, after the Leader's motion was submitted and of course approved by the Parliament.

Smoking is to made illegal in all public places, including restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Whilst smoking will be permitted within private residences, it will not be tolerated in the workplace or in military or police barracks. As always, anyone breaking the law and disobeying the glory of the Leader will be severely punished.

Sports

The Speedball League saw three matches tonight, all of which are key in determining places in the Confederate Regional Playoffs. Anselm Avengers lost by 15 goals to 14 in a close-fought match with their local rivals, Dren's Dragoons. Lorthan saw their team win by 5 goals to 0 in a low-scoring match against Cjech, and Manuy Marauders crushed the Telemar Lightning 25 to 3. Anselm, Lorthan and Manuy will now join the five other teams for the Speedball Chamionship.

In response to Skgorria's blatant aggression against the peace-loving international proletariat, the combined Workers' and Peasants' Militias of Grossetape and Atopiana will be ensuring that all efforts are made to protect the Workers' International.

We recommend that all comrades take precautions to ensure your continued safety in the event of Skgorrian aggression. It is the strong recommendation of this Military Council that you familiarise yourselves with the Air Raid Drills and sleep in your nearest Public Hardened Shelter.

Finally, you will be pleased to learn that we have finally taken delivery of the latest T-72s and other military hardware for the defence of the people. We encourage all comrades to arm themselves and form local defence councils.

The provision of a brigade's worth of Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicles and the necessary materials and personnel to train members of the AWPM in same.

100 artillery pieces, plus at least 2,000 shells per gun.

257 anti aircraft artillery pieces, plus at least 500,000 rounds per gun.

Night vision equipment, advanced radar technology, and SAM-6 as well as Strela shoulder-launched AAMs in any numbers.

Of course, any volunteers from your nation would be most welcome to join the AWPM to ensure the continued safety of the revolution.

Please note: We would appreciate it if said equipment is of Soviet manufacture, but we are not averse to more advanced avionics and electronics. We produce our own up-armour package for the T-60 and T-72 MBTs, but are interested in aquiring the ability to produce copies of the BRDM scout car and other light vehicles.

We can provide your nation with a wing of F-66A Kitsune fighter aircraft, which based off the MiG 25 aircraft, contains the same advanced avionics as other Aequatian fighter aircraft. As well, we can provide you with a wing of B-12A Vanquiher supersonic strategic bombers. For AWACS aircraft, as the Aequatian Republic has largely left detection duties to drones, we do not have the proper equipment to equip you with Aequatian systems, although we can provide systems such as the E-3 Sentry or E-2D Hawkeye II. Aequatian Republic Air Force personnel can also be deployed to provide training in operation and support of the aircraft.

For armoured vehicles, we can provide 500 Spartan Mk.4 Infantry Combat Vehicles plus their respective ammunition stores.

Artillery will be provided with 100 Sabre self-propelled howitzers and additional ammunition.

Anti-aircraft capabilities will be provided with 257 Cyclone Mk.1 air defence vehicles and the appropriate ammunition.

The Aequatian Republic can provide you with the necessary provisions for the remainder of your requests. However, we were intitally offering to provide our own nation's forces to aid your nation, not our citizens to enlist with your military.

The B-12A Vanquisher's design was inspired by that of the Tupolev Tu-22M or "Backfire" under its NATO Reporting Name and its operation is much similar. Although we can provide an alternative should it be necessary.
