Quick facts:

Technological era: Far future
Capital: Isfahan
Dominant religions: Shi'a Islam (87%), Hinduism (6%), Sunni Islam (5%)

Government system: monarchy (the Shah basically calls the shots, though he is wise enough to let most issues be determined by direct democratic polling)
Current Shah: Mahmoud IV Beyzad

Land: The land has changed greatly, and the world is in the midst of an ice age. Only the south-western portion and the portion bordering the Caspian is habitable, the rest is inhabited sporadically for resource extraction purposes.

This world is a tough place. You may want protection. You should consider becoming an "associate" of Griffincrest.

Well, as an associate of Griffincrest, we take you under your wing, and protect you in the case of an invasion. You will have all the things an employee of Griffincrest gets, and we would reccomend you join the Corporate Alliance. Our other associate is Beiraq, which is floruishing under our protection. In return, we ask for a few trade concessions.

The German State will open relations with Old Persia. We would be open to sending Berlin emissaries to Isfahan.

What is the Griffincrest Corporation? OOC: It's an oil company that likes to eliminate the competition, meaning it sends in mercenaries to blow up foreign oil supplies.

Thanks for the info. I was just curious about what it was. I am a newbie here. Also, is the Corporation a ''nation'' sort to say? I mean, you said:

''Well, as an associate of Griffincrest, we take you under your wing, and protect you in the case of an invasion. I'm just curious, that's all.

The Scandinvan Empire is more than willing to supply your nation with our support and resources if you agree to join the Empire in alliance. As well, we are more than willing to train and supply your army in exchange for nothing except your friendship.

We have no problem with trade concessions provided that it does not seek to 'hollow out' the means of productions within the Emirate. We like to think of our regulations regarding capital as relatively trouble-free; perhaps a tax benefit by companies in both parties to make economic integration more lucrative could work nicely?

We do not have any oil; it appears to be all tapped out. However, who needs energy when the state's nanotech company has been working wonders with solar cells for ages now? Either way, we'd like to join as many confederacies as possible, but it was not specified if membership is mutually exclusive.

N-N-No OIL ???

anyway, so do you accept being a Griffincrest associate? Your economy will be not only kept intact, but reinforeced by allowing Griffincrest to take an active role.

That would have to be decided by referendum, and it is quite doubtful it will get through. There is no reason, though, why such an active role cannot be mutual: cross-border synergies, cross-investment, employee exchanges, and vouchers for students to study at the other country's universities would surely create a whole greater than the sum of the parts. However, in manners of sovereignty, history has taught us to be very weary, no matter who promises what. As a show of goodwill, I propose we each purchase shares of each other's 'national champion' in the amount of 10M toman as a show of goodwill :)
