Integrated Super Soldier (ISS)

Description:

Command and Control

This area starts in the soldier’s helmet. Each ISS system is equipped with and integrated combat radio system that allows communication within the company and higher. Additionally, each system has an encrypted radio unit that operates on LOS for use between team members. The system will sense a break in the link and reroutes automatically until contact is regained. Voice and data communications can be relayed to the soldier directly or via drone relay links from headquarters, which have downloaded battlefield commands, information and images from forward observers, unmanned air vehicles, remote sensors and other airborne or satellite surveillance assets.

The soldier will also have a GPS System, a dead reckoner, and map displays from the above information to help him keep and up to date visual of what lies ahead. All of this information will be routes through a see through helmet mounted display that can be controlled by a small command pad on his weapon.

Lethality

The ISS lethality capability is made mainly through improved sighting and weapons. The use of non-cooled observation and sighting systems saves weight and logistic requirements.

The ISS can be equipped with the AMA63, 77, 43, and 15 which will be fitted with an enhanced sighting system on the weapon and linked to the soldier's helmet mounted sight. A linked sighting system allows the soldier to fire around corners at the target while remaining in a protected position.

To engage targets hidden in trenches or behind shelters, the soldier can measure the range of the target with a laser rangefinder. The range data is downloaded to the weapon's round and the overflying weapon round detonates at the designated range to strike the hidden target.

Mobility

The ISS system will weigh in at just over 40 lbs of equipment with the regular compliment. The machine gun will up the weight a little bit but still well within manageable specifications. As stated in the C&C section, the ISS is equipped with a GPS System, a dead reckoner, and map displays that give the soldier the knowledge and mobility he needs to get the job done.

Survivability
The clothing reduces the soldier's visual, radar and infrared signatures as well as providing personal temperature control and environmental protection. The clothing has wireless technology to interconnect the ISS components.
The grades of body armor protection will be selected for different operational requirements.
The integrated helmet provides ballistic protection and an interface to other elements of the battlefield network. The helmet-mounted display can show the battlefield situation, with wearer's position, positions of friendly and hostile troops and equipment and prioritized targets, as well as the downloaded imagery from his weapon sight.

Sustainability
The ISS system is made to be one of the most durable advanced infantry systems available. AMA guarantees that just one ISS will have a combat life of 15 years barring any type of combat damage to the unit. The unit is easily maintained but prospective buyers should realize that if any part of the armor section of the system is damaged, it is best to retire the system than to fix the armor as it will have reduced effectiveness for that point forward.

Fighters:

AAD-12 Cherrug Multirole Fighter

Introduction:
The AAD-12 fighter gives the Aurigean Airforce and Aurigean Navy a superior aircraft that is uniquely maneuverable and one-of-a-kind in the world today. The swept-forward wing design allows for certain advantages not present in the standard Delta-wing and swept-back wing design such as, higher lift to drag ratio, higher capacity in dogfight maneuvers, higher range at subsonic speed, improved stall resistance and anti-spin characteristics, improved stability at high angles of attack, a lower minimum flight speed, and a shorter take-off and landing distance.

Design:
Inspired by the prototype design of the Su-47 Berkut or Golden Eagle fighter aircraft, Aurigean Aerospace Designs took it upon themselves to improve upon the design that was dismissed by the Russians. After several wind tunnel tests on a scale model of the Berkut, designers from AAD were extremely impressed with the performance and set about making their own model with a few changes.

So they set to the drawing board and began by contracting Beta Aurigae’s leading composite manufacturer, Kirkner Alloy & Steel, to come up with a material that could withstand a much higher velocity than the current composite used in Beta Aurigae’s aircraft construction. The AAD engineers were not happy with the top speed of the aircraft but because the swept-forward wings could not stay attached the aircraft at much higher speeds; they needed a stronger composite material to hold the wings on the fighter. After eight months of trying, Kirkner was successful in designing a new composite material that would allow a top speed of Mach 3.6.

With the new composite in hand, the engineers began to add a few changes to the Russian design. They made the aircraft marginally smaller, updated the electronics, lowered the number of hardpoints, and experimented with a V-tail design that they later added to the aircraft to reduce the radar signature even further than expected. Armed with these new components, the engineers mounted two powerful Aurigean Automotive Engineering RCF-3 low-bypass turbofans and set about testing their new scale model. Performance was so much better than expected, the Aurigean Armed Forces Command ordered production of the aircraft to begin right away. It would become the mainstay of the AN and AAF.

Construction:
Airframe
The AAD-12 was designed to be a lightweight aircraft with versatility in all types of weather conditions. With this in mind, the aircraft was constructed almost entirely of the composite provided by Kirkner. This composite strengthened the entire aircraft while reducing the weight allowing for higher speeds and the ability to fly while damaged. Great care was taken to reduce the radar signature of the aircraft so certain key areas such as the airfoils were constructed of radar absorbent materials.

Lift
The AAD-12 utilizes a tandem-triplane layout with canards ahead of the wings and tailplanes. The advantages of this type of design include an increase in stall resistance and in the case of the AAD-12, eliminate stalling almost completely. The addition of the canards also reduces the overall drag of the aircraft which in turn increases fuel efficiency and allows for a longer range. The canards also allow for a much higher lift ratio which gives the aircraft the ability to take-off and land over a much shorter distance than conventional wing configurations.

Wings
The unusual swept-forward wing design of the AAD-12 allows for unprecedented maneuverability that is hard to find in other aircraft anywhere in the world. By utilizing the forward canards, the aircraft is almost completely stall resistant. Most of the lift generated by the wings is achieved on the inner portion of the wings and therefore is not affected by wingtip stall. The ailerons remain effective at the highest angles of attack making the AAD-12 one of if not the most maneuverable aircraft in the world. Due to its high maneuverability, the AAD-12 is a deadly dogfighter that it capable of engaging multiple targets at once thanks to its maximum turn rates and target acquisition equipment.

The wing panels of the AAD-12 are constructed of nearly 90% composites. The forward-swept midwing has a high aspect ratio, which contributes to long-range performance. The leading-edge root extensions blend smoothly to the wing panels, which are fitted with deflectable slats on the leading edge; flaps and ailerons on the trailing edge. The all-moving and small-area trapezoidal canards are connected to the leading-edge root extensions.

Cockpit:
The cockpit's design has focused on maintaining a high degree of comfort for the pilot and also on the pilot being able to control the aircraft in extremely high g-load maneuvers. The aircraft is equipped with a new ejection seat and life support system. The variable geometry adaptive ejection seat is inclined at an angle of 60°, which reduces the impact of high g forces on the pilot. The seat allows dogfight maneuvers with significantly higher g loadings than can normally be tolerated by the pilot.

The pilot's control system is a voice-throttle-and-stick system (VTAS). The stick and throttle tops house 24 fingertip controls for sensor and weapon control, defense aids management, and in-flight handling. The direct voice input allows the pilot to carry out mode selection and data entry procedures using voice command.

The quadruplex fly-by-wire flight control system has an Automatic Low Speed Recovery System (ALSR) which provides the pilot with visual and audio low speed warning and will, if necessary, automatically take control of the aircraft and return to safe flight.

The Helmet Mounted Symbology System (HMS) and Head Up Display show the flight reference data, weapon aiming and cueing, and the FLIR imagery. Also, a ground proximity warning system has been fitted. The cockpit has three multi-function color head down displays (MHDD) which show the tactical situation, systems status and EADS digital map displays.
